Chapter 10

Freya stood in the foyer and waited until Daniel was ready before she opened the door. A man in his 50s stood outside. He wore a white shirt under a black suit—even his tie looked exquisite and delicate.

"May I know who you are?" Freya asked.

"I'm Wilson Keller, Mrs. Talbot. I'm the butler at Talbot Manor, and I came here to look for Mr. Talbot," the man said politely. His gaze was respectful, too.

"Mr. Talbot?" Only one person here went by that name, but she didn't know whether that was who Wilson was looking for.

"Mr. Daniel Talbot," Wilson added.

"Oh." It looked like Daniel came from a wealthy family if he could afford a butler.

Freya stepped aside to let Wilson in.

She wanted to get him some house slippers to change into, but he pulled out two shoe covers from his pocket and slipped them on before following her into the living room.

"What are you doing here?" Daniel asked, sounding displeased.

This was Freya's first time hearing him sound anything other than calm or indiff
