Parker

I dragged Apollo

to the garden area, away from the gathering. "Where are you taking me, Parker?"

With the stupidest grin, "You mind explaining what that was?"

Apollo was perplexed. "What are you talking about?"

Parker's grin had grown wider. "I'm talking about how you were ogling that girl."

"What, girl?"

I poked him. "You know which girl I'm talking about. The one that gave the speech." Unknowingly a smile made its way to Apollo's lips. I haven't seen a smile like that, well, since ever.

"Livia Moon," he chimed her name like he was enchanted under a spell.

"And now you have this creepy look that would put scarecrows out of business." I teased.

Apollo put on a blank face. "I was not ogling her."

"Sure you weren't, and you are also not smiling while thinking about her."

Apollo cleared his throat. "Can you do something for me?"

I bet it pertains to a certain someone. "Don't I always?"

"Can you get her for me?"

"Who, Livia? Why?"

"I would like to indulge in an intellectual conversation with her."

Intellectual, my ass. I shook my head. "Wait here. I'll be back."

"Thanks, I owe you one."

"Whatever."  I laughed, walking away. "Livia Moon, what spell have you cast on my dear brother?"

Livia

Mrs. Audrey, Nina's mother, hugged me tightly. "Oh my gosh, Livia, you did so well. I am so proud of you." She gave Livia a proud motherly smile.

"Thank you, Mrs. Elisabeth."

Audrey is a businesswoman. Bold, beautiful, and sharp-tongued. She treated Livia as if she was her own flesh and blood from the moment she met her. After an incident when Livia had just turned seventeen, she was ready to go head-to-head with Livia's father in a custody battle. Livia, of course, declined the offer, not wanting Audrey to get involved in her family matters. Audrey has cleaned countless bruises, more than Livia can remember.

Nina squeezed in between the two. "Mom, I also graduated. Sometimes I feel like you've replaced me with Livia."

"Oh, sweetie, it took you long enough to come to that conclusion. Livia is so good to me while all you do is ring me headaches." Mrs. Elisabeth teased.

"What?"

Her mother playfully pushed her out of the way. "Shush, can you not interrupt me while congratulating my daughter."

"Mom," Nina whined.

"Excuse me, ladies."

In front of us stood a man we'd seen on television numerous times, usually accompanying Apollo. So, what is he doing here?

Mrs. Audrey was the one to break the ice. "Yes, how may we help you?"

"I'm Parker Fox,"

"We are aware." Mrs. Audrey interposed.

"I'm flatter. It goes without saying that this is a little out of my nature, but the boss requested to briefly speak with Ms. Livia Moon. But, of course, that's if she isn't busy."

"No, she isn't busy. Take her," Alicia pushed me towards him.

What? How can Alicia throw me under the bus like that? "Actually, don't you remember we had a thing, Alicia?"

Confused, Alicia asked, "What thing?"

I gritted my teeth. "You know the thing."

Finally catching on, Alicia pulled me to the side. "Livia, what are you doing?"

"No, what are you doing?"

"I'm setting you the pass of a lifetime, and you're fumbling the ball."

"I know, but..."

"No buts, okay, get that pretty toosh out there and make something shake."

"What does that even mean?"

"It means get your man, girl." before I could protest, she shoved me toward Parker. "Here you are. She's all yours."

He chuckled. "Very well then. Ms. Moon, can you follow me, please?" he stopped in his tracks and v-lined his way to Nina. "Your name, madam?"

"Nina Campbell. Number, Foxy?"

He smiled "(206) ###-####, see you around, Nina."

"You better, Parker."

He smiled once again. "Shall we go on?" he asked me.

"Lead the way."

We could faintly hear Nina and her mother's conversation from a distance.

"He is cute and just as crazy as you are."

"I know, right? He is such my type."

"You better not run him off, Nina."

"Mom, a real man would never run from a woman. But hopefully, he has me running, if you know what I mean."

"Oh my gosh, Nina, I am your mother. I don't want to hear about your sexual fantasies."

"Mom, you wouldn't have an eight-year-old at home if you were innocent."

"I can't help that I still got it, and besides, your father is hot."

"Oh no, oh gosh, we are not going there."

"What? I'm just saying your father is a blessed man."

"Eww, terminating this conversation. Kill the visuals."

Parker laughed. "That mother and daughter are something else."

"Oh, you have no idea." he really had no idea.

Parker led me to the side garden, and there he was, "Boss, here she is." Parker stepped aside, presenting me as if I were someone special.

With a gentle smile, Apollo extended his hand out to me. "Ah, Ms. Livia Moon, I heard many things about you."

My mind went blank. Standing so close, I understand what Nina meant by having a face that would stop you in your tracks. Look at him, his tousled jet-black hair, which was thick and lustrous. His eyes sloped downwards in an intense expression, but the deep forest green and flecks of pale green light performed a mesmerizing ballet in his gaze. His chocolate features were robust and defined, molded from the finest granite. From his modest demeanor, he must have gotten used to that sudden pause in a person's natural countenance when they looked his way."

"Livia?"

"Huh"

"I said I heard many things about you." Given his slight smile, he must have realized I was checking him out.

I could see Parker holding his laughter. Get it together, Livia. I cleared my throat, extending my hand out in return. "All good things, I hope."

"Of course they were, and I must commend you on your speech. Your words resonated with me in ways you wouldn't believe."

I debated whether I should confess he was the muse behind my speech or let it be. But, of course, I would just be speaking the truth, and that's nothing to be ashamed of. "I hope so, Mr. River; you were my inspiration."

"O-oh, really?" he stammered, taken aback by my straightforward confession.

"Yes, ask anyone here, and they will tell you how much I admire you. Not because of who you are but what you are. You are a staple of transforming the impossible into possible."

Meanwhile, Apollo felt a flame of attraction ignite within him. "I am honored you think so highly of me." Apollo is not an easily impressed man. That's one of the many reasons he is so sought out. It's human nature to want what you can't have. Apollo felt prideful, vulnerable, and intrigued. Livia never wavered her eye contact.

"The honor is all mine, Mr. River."

That tiny flame was quickly growing. So many people wouldn't dare look him in the eyes so intensely nor be so bluntly honest with him.

"Interesting." He whispered unintentionally.

"Well, if that's all, I have other business to attend to."

"But your friend said you weren't busy." Parker butted in.

Livia chuckled. "Perhaps she was right, but how long do you expect me to stand beside the man I idolize before I freak out like a little schoolgirl?"

Parker laughed. "Are you always this honest?"

"When there is no reason to lie, I don't."

"Fair enough," he said, dropping the topic.

"I need to meet this friend and thank her for allowing me to speak to a knowledgeable and well-spoken woman." Apollo complimented.

"Someday, who knows what path our destiny will reveal." she eyed Parker knowingly. Then, bidden her goodbyes.

Apollo watching Livia leave, didn't sit right with him. Something in him wanted to stop her and keep her close. Maybe he was afraid he would never see her again. But, on the other hand, he could see her sooner than later.

"Parker, set up an interview with Ms. Moon for the Chief Technology Officer position."

Parker was perplexed. "I don't mean to question your judgment, but are you sure that's a logical move. If Livia passes the interview and gets one of the most sought positions fresh out of college, wouldn't that cause controversy? Ms. Moon could become the center of attacks from envious employees."

"I am sure she would be a perfect fit. There is no doubt about it."

"There's something much deeper in your request. First, the hearts, creepy smile, getting flustered from a compliment, and now this. You are trying to keep Livia close, and that's dangerous for her and us."

"Let me worry about that, will you. A flame has been ignited in my chest for the first time, and I don't want to put it out just yet. So few people could look me in the eyes without being nervous or fearful and say what she said. But, looking into her eyes, I saw myself in a way."

"You sure it wasn't love?"

"Shut up. Besides, you should be happy I finally found someone to take some of the load off you."

"Don't pretend like you're doing this on my behalf." Parker sighed, defeated. "But if she already has you whipped like this, let me check her background. So please reframe from getting your heart too involved."

Apollo slung his arm over his shoulders. "You worry too much, my dear brother."

"But still…"

"Hey, I'm your boss. Just trust I'm making the right decision. You don't have to worry, Parker. Ms. Moon can handle herself."

Parker side-eyed. "And you too, I presume."

With a boyish smile. "I really want to howl to the moon right now."

"Hopeless."

Livia "Livia, get your ass down here. We are already running late and need to pick up the others." Nina yelled from downstairs. "Watch your mouth, young lady." Audrey scolded. "Sorry, Mom." "I'm here." The heels clicking on the marble stairs grabbed the duo's attention. Nina examined her outfit. "Damn, Livia, you look hot." "Nina," Audrey called her daughter's name warningly. "Like you never cursed before," she mumbled. Audrey gave her a threatening glare. "What did you say?" "Nothing, my beautiful mother." she backtracked, "But we should be going. Thanks to Livia, I'm sure we will get an earful from Zoe." Flipping her hair. "You can't rush perfection, Nina." Audrey straightened Livia's choker. "And you look divine, my girl. Nina could learn a thing or two from you. Maybe three." she teased. "Alight, that's enough out of you two." Nina pushed Livia towards the door. "Bye, Mom. I'll be back sometime tomorrow." Livia Incoming group call Nina answered the call, "Hello, darling." "Where are y'all?" Percy asked. We could hear music blaring in the background. "Being fashionably late. Relax." Nina responded. Percy sneered. "It's fashionable if you look good. Otherwise, you're late and don't respect others' time." Nina rolled her eyes. "Rude." "No, what's rude are those busted stripper heels you're probably wearing." She gasped, "Never disrespected my Christian Louboutin stilettos. They make my calves pop, and this ass voluptuous." This time Percy was the one to gasp, "Ass? Since when?" These two are constantly at each other's throats. "My gosh, Percy. We just pulled up. Where do you want to meet?" It went silent. Livia thought the call had dropped. "You did not just call me by my name." "I'm sorry, but can you tell me where to go." "Come to the back. We reserved a spot for you." He hung up the phone before I could say anything. "Somebody's in trouble." Sandra razzed. I

Livia I take it back. I am still determining exactly how long we've been walking after roaming through an abandoned train station that led us to a hidden tunnel. We now stand in front of a weird door that I have no clue what's behind it. Alaric opened the door to pitch darkness. "Ladies first." he gestured for me to enter. I looked at the hole and then back at Alaric. "Find it." He furrowed his eyebrows. "Find what?" "Your mind. Clearly, you have lost it if you think I will willingly crawl in there. You guys brought me here; you go first." I said, backing away but being halted by a hard chest. Jonah looked down at me. "There is nothing to be afraid of." "Oh yeah, then why don't you do the honors of going first." Jonah and Alaric glanced at each other before I knew it; I was being lifted in the air. I started to kick, punch, and grab anything I could. "Ouch, got damn it, Livia, stop pulling my hair. Alaric, stop laughing and help me." Alaric tried to pry my hands out of Jonah

Malakai "I was like you once. A neglective father that blamed me for all his life problems." he looked off to the distance, reminiscing, "Do you know what it's like to never feel your mother's love." "Try not having any recollection of ever having a mother. I guarantee it's a far worse feeling." Livia thought. Malakai continued with his painful memory. "My mother died during childbirth. My father took it upon himself to instill that I murdered my mother. He constantly reminded me of how I took the love of his life away from him. In his words, if my wife didn't have such a big heart and terminated the pregnancy after knowing the risk like I told her, she would be here with me, and I wouldn't be stuck with a curse." A curse? Did his own father call him a curse? Livia balled her fist in anger. "How can he blame you for that? You didn't choose to be born." she burst. "And if your father loved your mother the way he claimed, he would have loved you with a mother's heart, not a stranger.

Percy "Black silky hair placed in a high ponytail, red lipstick, black leather pencil dress, Lady Kay's black gloss pumps rung through the corridors as a signal to the gates of our hell opening. She was a gorgeous woman in her early thirties who doted on Blake and me." "Before she took over, the orphanage was once a loving home by the original House Mother, Lady Blossom. But soon after, turned into our living hell. We were Lady Kay's most prized assets." "According to her, Blake was very cunning and luring, which made him very appealing. In addition, I had a playful innocence that made me desirable to be a teenager." "She was a true devil that wore Prada. We were there when the devil walked into our lives with fiery greetings. We witness that same fire smother innocent children, our friends. House Mother was no mother but a monster." Blake's face was contemned. "Lady Kay resented her mother for paying more attention to the orphanage children than her. That neglect turned Lady Kay v

Livia Livia furrowed her brows. "Okay, and what's the big deal about that?" "What's the big deal!" Luca yelled, making Heath flinch from the sudden outburst. "L-Luca, pl-please d-don't y-yell." Hearing Heath's shaky voice, Luca quickly walked over to him. He had his head down with his hands over his ears, hyperventilating. Luca quickly embraced him. "Clam down, kiddo. Deep breaths. Your airhead is so sorry." "Take him to get some fresh air. Then, we will meet you guys in the garage." Asa told them. As the both of them slowly made their way to the elevators. "Is he okay?" Livia asked. Asa held his lips in a tight line. "The sentiment of someone being okay is subjective. Everyone has faced something that has impacted their lives, some for good, others for the worst. Do you know that 46% of children under seventeen are exposed to trauma? In addition, 16% of those children develop PTSD, and 4%-7% go underdiagnosed." "No, I didn't know that, but what does that have to do with Heat

Livia Walking into the place I have only dreamed about felt surreal. "Good morning, ma'am." the receptionist welcomed with a smile. She had to be at least in her late 50s. She dressed elegantly and had years of experience finding what worked for her body. Her grey hair was pulled into a clean low bun, and side bangs made her off-white pearl earrings. The matching single pearl necklace added sophistication as the Apricot Ruthe Round-Neck Peplum top elongated her neckline. It makes one wonder what kind of shoes she's wearing. Black leather pumps? Ankle boots? Or lambskin flats? Livia, you're mind is a daydream. Stay focused. Glancing at her nametag, "Good morning, Sarah. I am Livia Moon, here for the 8:30 interview." She briefly looked at her watch and then back at me, surprised. "Mr. River told me to send you to his office as soon as you arrived, but I wasn't expecting you to be 30 minutes early." "Well, I have some very strict mentors that wouldn't tolerate me being on time. Acc

Livia I am going into my third week at Apollo Enterprise. It was a lot to take in at first. Still, thanks to Secretary Sarah Campbell catching me on all the latest hot gossip, I could grasp the company's culture. Let me tell it's some shady business relations going on. Apparently, Jake from sales is having an affair with some fresh hotty in data, and what's more vexing, the new hotty is his wife's cousin. Yeah, like I said, some very shady business relations! However, during my first week, there was an incident with one of the older male managers. On more than one occasion, that mannerless jerk groped and made less-than-appropriate remarks regarding things he wanted to do to my body. To his luck, Parker caught that old jerk in the act and intervened. He was fired and blacklisted due to the company's strict policies against sexual harassment, but that wasn't satisfying enough for me. I wanted to give him endless pain before putting a bullet through his head, but that would be too muc

LiviaThe morning breeze roused me out of my slumber as its coolness grazed my exposed skin. I nestled into the warmth of Apollo's arms as I watched the curtains dance to the rhythm of nature. His masculine aroma mixed deliciously with the garden's floral fragrance a few feet from our balcony.I rubbed the remainder of my sleep from my eyes and gazed at the ethereal man sleeping soundly beside me. I find it strange, hard even, to find something so meaningful in someone so special. He is like the Sun, every day, it rises and sets, but it is always there. Reliable since the beginning of time.I straddled his stomach. "Wake up, Apollo. It's time to start the day. We have a long day ahead of us, so I need my Mafia King up and ready to start the day with his Queen.""What your Mafia King needs right now is cuddling from his lovely Queen," he buried his face into my breast.I laughed. Livia "The next move?" I pondered. Devising plans is my guilty pleasure, but executing them successfully is dearer. "The White Vultures is all about gaining ultimate power, right? Frankly, I don't think that is entirely their motive. That attack the other night was thought-out yet sporadic. I believe Vanessa has no desire to pursue Apollo or become the Mafia Queen. I am at a loss for what they truly want. Which bothers me." Understanding the enemies' motives is the legend of maneuvering them the way we want. Then I thought about something that could be valuable. "Who was the former leader of White Vultures?" "Vanessa's grandfather, Oscar Myers." "Myers? Oscar Myers? Do you have a picture of him?" "I might. Give me a second." Poet vigorously scanned through files on his laptop. "Oscar is a very privy man, unlike Vanessa, who boldly states she's a Mafia P

"Oh my god Livia you scared the shit out of us."Tears flowed from my eyes, remembering how my once happy, loving life was replaced with hatred and pain. "Sunny?" "No biggie, we are all here for the same goal. Percy, go ahead of us and disarm the alarms. Alaric set up some C-4 explosives throughout the cave.
