Throwing a tantrum

Camille's POV

“Y-Yeah it was,”

What on earth was Dad doing skulking around the gate? What if Gavriel had kissed me or something? He would have seen it all.

And shit would have hit the fan.

I should be grateful that the jackass had been cold to me before he drove off. At least now I knew why. He wanted to be careful.

“Oh, he could've dropped in to say hi!” My father brightened, and for a minute, guilt settled heavy in my stomach. Dad and Gavriel were good friends. And considering how old he was getting, it sucked that I was coming between them.

“He will next time,” I said, looping a hand around my father's arms. “We're going on a trip to Paris tomorrow, so he got me dresses.”

“Oh, that's where the bags came from,” He chuckled, walking me towards the door. “I was just about to rain down the questions.”

“Oh come on, Dad. You can't house me forever, you know that, right?”

His eyes held mine, and I thought he looked sad. He blinked, and it was gone. “I can try. Do you enjoy work
