Camille's POV
"Can you believe him?!" I screeched over the phone. "I worked my butt off to balance work and planning a party for him. I worked my ass off trying to hide it from him so it would be a surprise. And guess what? Turns out I shouldn't have bothered!"
"Just to be clear," Megan's voice reached my ears. "You've left the party?"
I glanced up at Dane who drove me home and shrugged. "Yes, I did. What's the point? Gavriel got mad at me for trying to make him happy. The whole party is a mistake!"
"Camille, calm down. It could be that he's just not a fan of crowds."
"He's the owner of a multi-billionaire industry and attends events and conferences more than the president. I've attended these things with him and he does well with crowds, Megan." I yelled.
Well technically, he did try to reduce his interaction
Camille's POVWhen Megan opened her door, I could imagine what she saw.Me in a dumb maxi dress, eyes swollen from crying them out, and a huge tub of ice cream clutched in my arms."Oh my, Come here," Megan murmured, pulling me in for a hug.She slowly helped me inside and locked the door behind us before settling me on the sofa."I didn't even know he had an ex-wife," I sniffed. "Did you know?"Megan shook her head. "He didn't mention it to you at all?""Not even once!" I sobbed, clutching my tub of ice cream like it meant my life. Because it most likely did. "He hid her from me. And then after he insults me, he goes on to frolic with her!""Well they were just talking in the picture," Megan murmured and I shot her a g
Gavriel's POVI had messed up. Big time.I paced the sidewalk, my palms clasped together as I waited. I had sent the first half of the day before worried like crazy about Camille.I had gone to work in hopes that I would see her. I would apologize for being a total dick at the party and then I would tell her about Victoria, finally. It turned out that Victoria beat me to it instead. I had known she had a plan with the paparazzi but considering she had lost a huge chunk of her wealth to a scammer, I had assumed it would take a long while before she could strike again. And that was a huge fucking mistake. One night, Victoria had pictures of us swarming the media. She was right, she had the public on her side. I had underestimated her again. When Camille did not
Camille's POVI ran like my life depended on it.Well, it didn't. But my heart did. I had almost given in to Gavriel in the car. And that terrified me.I had been mad at him for a whole day, and yet within a twenty-minute drive, I had managed to be enraptured by him again....I was afraid I would lose you...I didn't even get the logic behind those words and yet I had melted into a fucking puddle when he spoke them. It didn't help that he had looked so anguished. So torn.I was ready to forgive him there and then and that, that was terrifying."Camille slow the fuck down!" I made the mistake of looking over my shoulder to see him and screamed when I saw he was much closer than I had expected him to be. Dammit, wasn't he nearing fifty?! How on earth was he so agile?&nb
Gavriel's POVCamille's dainty hands covered my large ones, the one over her clothed breasts. I kneaded the soft mound impulsively, not wanting to let go yet, but thrilled because I knew where her hands would lead.I watched, hungrily, as she guided my hand over her stomach and then above the junction between her thighs. My body hummed with awareness and I loosened my legs which I had used to pin hers down some minutes ago.“Here,” she whispered, cheeks heated and rosy with desire. Her eyes were heavy-lidded and shaped like half moons. Beautiful.“You want me to touch you here?” I teased, stroking her navel with my thumb. Her stomach flexed under my wandering fingers. Her neck arched when she tossed her head up to look at me.“Lower,” My sweet k
Gavriel's POV"Do we have to go home?"That was the third time Camille had asked me that question. She stood by the bed I sat on, shoving a bra on reluctantly. We had spent the day as well as the entire night in the cabin by the beach. I loved it, I spent most of it wrapped up somehow in that addicting body of hers. But while I loved spending all my hours with her, I had a lot of things to deal with. First, we had two days' worth of work piled up already. Second, I had to get rid of the silly rumor Victoria was spreading around, that we were back together.I would rather drink a bottle of pure cyanide than have anything to do with her. But of course, the media couldn't know that. A simple way to discard the rumor would be to introduce to them another woman with whom I was in a deep relationship.Camille.&
Gavriel's POV"What is it?" I demanded, trying to keep a level head.Nolan hadn't exactly had a normal childhood. His mother had dropped him off like he was a hot potato when he was barely two years old. She had been having an affair with my boss and when I found out, she figured she didn't have to spare my feelings anymore and filed for a divorce. She had done everything to avoid gaining custody of our son. An unnecessary move, because there was no way I would leave Nolan with her. She was crazy, controlling, and manipulative. I didn't want my son to end up like her or even worse."Well, we checked with Dr. Peterson first," The PI spoke, obviously taking his time in delivering whatever awful news he had coming. I tried not to lose my patience. "She says Nolan has been doing fine and he doesn't need the sessions anymore."
Camille's POVI counted to ten in my head before unclasping my bra. My breasts bounced free jiggling against my shirt and I giggled at the thought of the elevator sliding open. I could get caught.Besides I was fairly certain that Gav was steaming mad in there. Five seconds had gone by. And I was sure the proud man would not step out of his office. He would wait it out until I caved in.And yes I would cave in, dammit. I needed him. I didn't send him those saucy pictures only to mess with him. I considered taking off my panties and decided I wanted him to work a little. When I walked into his office, Gavriel looked every bit like the brooding dangerous man he was. He stood behind his desk, the glass walls behind him overlooked the city, and his eyes blazed as they watched me draw closer. His shirt was gone revealing his taut olive skin and the m
Camille's POV"What the hell do you think you're doing?" He gritted in a low voice, those eyes glaring daggers at Victoria.I heaved a sigh of relief and maybe I shouldn't feel so satisfied that he'd come to my rescue, but I did. An angry vein popped in his neck, as he glared down at the intruder. Her dark eyes remained steely for a while, then her face softened as of a few seconds ago, she wasn't about to maul me."Gavriel, hi," She said in a falsetto, tipping her head towards the basket she carried. "I thought I'd bring you something to eat. I made all of your favorite dishes. You work so hard and-""I told you to stay the fuck away from me," He spat, and I watched her wince, he must have squeezed her hand too tight. But I had to give it to her, Victoria did not budge. She simply held her head up
Gavriel's POV"Oof!" I grunted when Camille threw herself at me, wrapping her arms around my neck and sobbing into my chest. Her tears made me feel like an asshole. I heard her. All while I was stuck in the damned coma, I heard her talk to me. Her voice was mostly muted and I could barely hear the words properly. But I heard enough snippets that made me ache desperately to see her again."Miss, give us a minute and you can hog him to yourself later," The doctor examining me said with a chuckle, trying to pry Camille off.She refused to let go and I grinned. I feared I would never see her again. That somehow I would lose her. With my free hand, I brushed her hair, murmuring in her ears."I'm sorry darling. I should have woken sooner,""No, no," She sniffed, looking up at me with red-rimm
Camille's POV"Miss Caldwell, what would you say about the current health situation of Mr Donovan?"Oh great, the press was here. I hadn't noticed them gathering in clusters until I was out of the car. I had gone out to get something to eat. It was noon and I hadn't eaten since noon the previous day. I hadn't wanted to leave Gavriel's side. It wasn't until my eyes felt dizzy and I was certain I would pass out that I had tried to find a diner. Two burgers later and a diet coke in the parcel bag clutched tightly between my fingers, I was standing before some twenty reporters waving their microphones and cameras at me.I had almost forgotten they existed. "What are your remarks on the scandal?""Did you know Gavriel Donovan had a twin brother?"My eyes widened on the
Third POVVictoria Harrington was done.Done with holding back. Done with keeping up with the mess in her head. She was a dripping mess. It had taken a few trial and error to escape the policemen. They could be incredibly dumb when it came to handling a woman who wanted to pee.Sure she ended up shooting a policeman in the leg and got slammed against the van that was supposed to transport her, but it was just a mere sacrifice she had to make.Right before her was the bane of her existence. Two of them. Gavriel, her ex-husband, and his young stupid lover. Anger surged through Victoria and she gripped the gun tighter, pointing it right at Camille."Victoria," Gavriel's deep voice filled the quiet wardroom. "Put down the gun,"If Nolan hadn't come to pick her up while she escaped the police van, she probably
Camille's POV"Are you sure you will be fine on your own?"The woman who helped me the night before was Faye. She had heard my screams while she was in her home and had looked out the window to see what was going on. She hadn't wasted time rushing out of the house and driving down the road like she was some passerby.I would always be grateful to her. She didn't just drop me off at the police station and be on her merry way. She dropped a witness statement that I had been kidnapped and a team of police was sent to retrieve Nolan while I gave my report and the recordings of what had happened with Gavriel. We stayed overnight at the station. The team sent after Nolan returned empty-handed stating that the building had been abandoned. Of course, he ran away. Faye had stayed with me today until the evening. She had been a darling.
Gavriel's POVThe first time I felt hunger in the true sense of it, was when I was sixteen. It had been two days after my birthday and I had escaped one of the foster homes the government had tossed me in. I spent the night in an alley. Found a spot behind a pillar to rest and woke the next morning to some barman chasing me away with a stick. That morning, my stomach felt empty. It growled and grumbled but I couldn't get anything to eat. Not in the trash cans and certainly not from the kindness of strangers. By noon, my mouth was dry, my insides were hot. The next day, my arms and legs were useless, my tongue was stuck to the roof of my tongue. I had a maddening headache and everything started to look tasty. That was hunger. Sixteen-year-old me would not have survived if Old Robert hadn't found me.
Third POVGerard Donovan drove his car over the uneven road and let out a series of curses as his car dipped into a pothole and then crossed over a tree root. He would never for the life of him understand why Victoria had picked the warehouse hidden in the woods when one of Gavriel's safe houses would have worked just fine. His brother had to have safe houses right? Didn't rich people with so much money invest in that type of shit? Gerard wouldn't know seeing that his entire adulthood had been ripped away from him.By his parents. By his brother. And by the two policemen who stuffed him in their car at the age of fifteen and carted him off to jail. His life had changed after that. While in prison, he had heard news about his brother. Gavriel considered himself too holy to visit him and so for thirty years, Gerard watched his brother grow on TV in the
Camille's POVWhen I regained consciousness, my head felt so heavy. There was a loud pounding sound that filled my entire head and had me groaning in pain. Opening my eyes burned. It felt as though someone had taped them shut and rippling the eyelids apart was pure hell. When I managed to open them, I breathed heavily. Everything was a blur due to the tears that had gathered from the pain. I blinked them away rapidly, trying to focus. There was a ceiling. White ceilings that connected to green walls and then some rustic brown rug. It wasn't my taste, but it wasn't bad to look at. I rubbed my forehead, trying to ease the headache that threatened to pound my brain to mush. Where was I?What happened? The last thing I remembered was... Shit!Nolan had hit me! The bastard rammed my car lik
Camille's POVI clasped a hand over my mouth.Gavriel had a brother? I had never... I would never have thought that was possible until now. Until I saw Gerard. He never told me.I don't think Dad knew about it. Dad never mentioned Gav had a brother, but at least he knew about Victoria's existence."That's a bit cold coming from his twin brother," Victoria chuckled as if she just told a funny joke.Gerard snorted.Twin brothers. Now it made a bit more sense. At first glance, Gerard and Gavriel look exactly alike. Anyone could confuse the two of them. But I knew everything about Gavriel like the palm of my hand. That had to be why Gerard kept me shut out by the security. He didn't want me to discover this.He drove past the company,
Camille's POVHe cocked his head to the side, his eyes grazing my entire frame, from my clothes to the makeup on my face. There was no heat behind his gaze. There used to be so much behind his gaze. Was it so simple for him to turn it off and on?"I would ask how you got past security, but that would be redundant no?"I gave an airy laugh and dropped on the seat before him. "I had to. You wouldn't see me."He shrugged then resumed scanning through the document on his desk. "I believe I have made myself clear. Are you always this clingy and clueless?"The insults stung. At least now I knew how he felt when I insulted and accused him of murdering Dad."I am. You used to love it,"He scoffed. "Of course. Well I don't love it now, Miss Caldwell. And I am trying to work. See yourself out, will
