Camille's POV
"H-He asked if anything was going on with you lately," Megan explained, her voice filled with apprehension.
My stomach twisted.
"Megan don't tell me you told him-"
"I didn't," she replied curtly. "Have a little faith in me will you? I kept your little secret about you and Gavriel."
I squinted. "How did you respond?"
Gavriel watched me speak, his expression shifting from confusion to worry. To assure him I was fine, for now, I ran my hands over his chest gently.
"What?" Megan sounded appalled.
"What did you tell him? I want the exact words."
"Camille, I didn't tell him anything," She replied. "I just told him you were fine."
"That's all?"
She sighed. "Would I l
Camille's POVA picture of us?!"Gav?" I called, unsure whether I ought to panic or he was simply pulling my legs.He left the door instantly and approached me, shedding off his shirt quickly to cover me. I watched him march to the door, a deadly look on his face. Fuck was it true? Had someone taken a picture of us having sex? That was bad. I tried to stop the trembling of my hands but it shook anyway. A picture of us leaking out into public like that would be devastating. Everyone would see Gav fucking me.No.I ride off the couch, rushing into the closet. What if Dad saw it? He would have a heart attack.Or what if the person didn't share it with the public and instead decides to use it to blackmail either of us? Just like Jordan did.Oh my God,
Camille's POV"I've been here." I said, arching a brow in confusion. What on earth was going on? First, it was the word questions, then him going off to interrogate Megan and now it seemed it was my turn to get interrogated.Dad glanced around me, from the exercise mat to the bottle of water the maids had gotten for me to my tablet playing the exercise video."Where's your phone?""It's in my room," I shrugged. His face relaxed then. "I had called you several times. I was worried when you didn't pick up. I didn't know you were home yet.""Maybe check first, next time? Instead of assuming I'm not home? Dad, what is going on?""Nothing, I'm just worried about you.""Why are you worried about me? I'm fine, I told you that
Camille's POVDad's face was pale as he looked up slowly from the locket to me. His blue eyes held mine, his mouth parted but no words came out.He looked down at the locket again as if it were some unreal device he had stumbled across in the desert. What should I do?I was desperately trying not to panic. I wanted to know how he felt. This wasn't how I wanted him to find out! We had planned to tell him next week. Preferably when I had given him the ticket to Charly town and he was happy. Not like this.My eyes caught the lit-up screen of my phone in his hands and my stomach dropped. It was unlocked. Fuck. I must have forgotten to lock it when I dropped it on the bed.The texts! Horror and shame clawed at my chest as I realized why my dad was petrified. It wasn't the
Gavriel's POV"The number you're trying to call is not reachable at the moment,""Shit!" I hissed, dragging my fingers through my hair. The gig was up. Everything was up.This was not how I had intended for Caldwell to find out about us. I could still remember his yells over the phone. He was furious. The jovial, jolly man in our group of friends was angry and while I had always known that day would come, I hadn't expected to be the recipient of his anger.I dialed Camille's number again, pacing around my study. My fingers tightened around the thick strands of hair, threatening to pull them out.I had to fix this. But I didn't know how to.I could fix anything else, everything else. But Caldwell's anger was justified and did not need any fixing. I was dating his daughter. I
Camille's POVDad stared back at me as if I had grown two heads. And perhaps I had. I had never admitted to myself that I loved Gavriel. Every single time my thoughts were about to descend that path, I would caution myself. I didn't want to ruin what we had by admitting I loved him and then finding out that he didn't exactly feel the same way.Of course, I wasn't going to tell Gav yet either. My heart would split into a thousand shards if he didn't feel the same way.It was best that I didn't know how he felt yet. Not yet. But I had been hard-pressed.And I wasn't lying."You're choosing him over me?" Dad laughed harshly."No, that's not correct. I'm asking you to accept our relationship or I won't be your daughter anymore!""Sam
Author's POVJames Caldwell watched his only daughter walk out of the room without so much as a glance over her shoulder. In his hands were the pieces of his beloved picture of them. The one picture he had held on to for twenty-two years. He was on his knees, the carpet burned through his pants, eating at his aching and weary skin. A tear slid down the older man's cheek, and then others followed."Camille!" He yelled, perhaps as a last-ditch effort to stop his daughter from making what he thought was a mistake. He was her father, for goodness sake. He knew better. But his dear daughter would not listen. She never did. When her mother died years ago, leaving him with Camille, a guru in every technology but not in kids, He had hoped and prayed for an easy journey. But things were never easy when it came to Cam
Camille's POVTurn around, Camille.I ignored the tiny voice in my head and dragged my bag down the road to Megan's place. I would stay there, get my phone working, and call Gav to come get me out of this place.Dad would come to his senses in a few days. He loved me right? He would accept what I wanted. He had to.You left him crying, the tiny voice accused."He wasn't crying," I said grumpily. "And he was yelling at me. I'm not staying when all he's going to do all night is yell at me anyway."I learned from experience. The night I crashed into a girl with the car he got me for my birthday barely a year ago. I was already burdened with anger at the girl for ruining what was supposed to be a fun night. And guilt for nearly killing someone. I didn't think
Camille's POVGav didn't come to pick me up himself, much to my disappointment. But I was fine with Dane picking me up too. I couldn't stand another minute with my ‘best friend’.It had to be her. The timing was all too convenient. Dad comes to talk to Megan and he finds out about me and Gav on the same day.Coincidence? No."Camille," Megan called as I stormed out of her place. "Camille I swear I didn't tell him-""It doesn't matter," I yelled at her. "I hope you and my Dad can have a jolly good laugh about this together. Good fucking night!"I slipped into the car and slammed the door loud enough to rattle the entire vehicle. "Drive, Dane,"He had a shocked look on his face before he turned off the engine and drove off into the night.I wished leav
