Zoe's POV

By the time I return, the police officers are on their way out.

"Miss," the older man tipped his hat. "We'll be on our way. We are going to question her further tomorrow."

"We will be sending some guards to ensure you both are kept safe, just in case her kidnappers come looking for her. They will be on night watch just outside."

I nodded and muttered a thank you before they finally left.

I made my way back to her room to find her still looking out into space. I half-expected that she would be asleep, she looked as exhausted as I felt.

After a bath and medication, a bit of colour had returned to her skin but it did nothing to reduce the effect of the probable last ten years has done to her. She still looked like an estranged sister of a zombie.

"Mu…" The word comes out to my utter bewilderment before I shove it back in. How tired am I? I face-palm myself which does not help my case because it only aggravated the pounding in my head. I took a deep breath before I spoke ag

Zoe's POVI woke up in a hospital bed at four in the morning, my body cramping badly but at least my head was ebbing and not pounding. I freshened up a little. I would take a taxi home and dress up for work. I could not let Louis get any reason to suspect something was wrong with me. Before I slept, I made a report to HQ on my development but said nothing about Cathy, other than saying I caught a burglar. My bosses would not be worried about my safety. I had been trained for far more dire situations. I let Loira know that she would have to do some undercover work and run tests on the DNA samples that I collected from Kathy. In a few days I will know the truth. I entered Cathy's room to see her sleeping peacefully. Her chest rose rhythmically and that was the only thing that gave me the assurance she was alive. She looked fragile in that state. I walked closer to her and sat down. I reached out to clasp her hand. It was warm under my touch. I looked deeply at her. If not for the la

  • Craving For Her   Like Father Like Son

Louis' POVThe gate to my mansion was opened and my chaffeur drove in. The moment I took a glance at the house I knew something was wrong. He packed the car and opened the door for me. I walked up to the door, to see Beatrice. "Welcome back, sir." She greeted me. I nodded in cognizance. "Madam is inside with miss. They are waiting for you." She supplied. That was what was amiss. I shrugged off my growing annoyance at the fact that I was informed of this meeting. Beatrice opened the door and I stepped in. They heard my entry and Nessa turned to look at me before turning away abruptly. Our old butler was also present standing in a corner, his usual neutral expression plastered on his gaunt face. I did not bother greeting and walked straight upstairs to my room to change. I could hear my mother grumble as I took the stairs to my room. She hated waiting on anyone but too bad she was in my home without any prior notice. I took a shower and put on a shirt and trousers before I trud

  • Craving For Her   His Child

Zoe's POVAfter Cathy's revelation at the hospital, my mind was a whirlwind of puzzle pieces that were slowly coming together, however not in the way that I expected. But nothing was ever truly as it seemed. The name that had stood out during the time of my investigation was the mercenary. Now as I looked through the history of Fuego I saw a lot more. In recent times the only time that I remembered that member of the Mafia was when I recalled the moment the hospital where Mr Callahan had asked me if I knew of Osso, the leader of Gardãna. Gardãna had been one of the major and notorious mafia organizations back in the day. Of course that was until Osso was killed by one of own men, Fuego, real name, Carlos Henendrez. In the little pictures that I could uncover of him. I understood why he was called Fuego. Fuego was the Spanish translation for fire, he had been named after his hair since it was a fiery red. The reasons why he chose to be a traitor were known but it was not hard to see

  • Craving For Her   Shattering Glass

Zoe's POVI returned to the hospital only to meet the police officers in Cathy's room. "Miss, if you don't tell us anything, we cannot help you." The older man was saying, his voice was soft but there was irritation underneath it. "I do not need your help." Cathy replied, defiantly. She mumbled a curse under her breath. "Miss…" The woman tried her luck only to be cut off. "I already told you to leave me be." Her voice was level but there was a sharp edge to it. The older man pulled off his cap and sighed deeply. "She is a tough one. Only God knows what she's been through." He said sympathetically. "The doctors did say that she lost part of her memory," I spoke and finally their attention turned to me. "Maybe in trying to suppress her memory, she lost them." "Miss…" "Pierce," I completed "You were the one that called that night." I nodded. "We were hoping to come and question you." The older man informed me. "Now?" "Yes, if you do not have anything else occupying your time

  • Craving For Her   His Little Lady

I returned my gun to my hoister and rushed to her. I pulled her sheets and used them to stop the bleeding and applied pressure. She was unconscious now and I held my fingers to her pulse. I felt nothing at first, but soon it beat against my finger. She had a slow pulse and her breathing was shallow. I slammed a fist on the alarm and, ringing, joined the others. I left her momentarily to lock the door. The shooter might come back, but unlikely. I went back to her and held the cloth longer to get her chest. I was happy that she was not spitting blood, which would have been a tell-tale sign of something worse to come. The moment ticked by like the timer of a bomb as I waited for the panic outside to subside. Then there was banging on the door, I put a free hand to my gun and turned around to see someone in a white coat standing on the other side. The doctor was there.I left her once again and unlocked the door and let them enter. This was another doctor with a nurse right at her said.

  • Craving For Her   Journey To Elysian Harbour

Zoe's POVSitting in the plush leather seat, I looked around the private jet's cabin. The cream-colored walls and ceiling give the space an airy and spacious feel. Sunlight streamed in through the large windows, offering stunning views of the clouds outside. The polished wood accents and soft, muted lighting create an elegant ambiance. There's a small table nearby with fresh flowers, and the cabin is impeccably clean and well-maintained. It's a world of luxury and comfort in here.Yet it did nothing to tapper the tense atmosphere that enveloped us. I had been wishing that he would bring aboard some other passangers or friends. But it seemed that the man who sat opposite me was quite a loner. I took a glance at him through the laptop in my on my lap that I was currently working on. He was not resting but he was no doing much of anything either. He was dressed in another one of his impeccable suit, an obviously expensive Rolex latched on his tan wrist. He rested on the claw of his hand,

  • Craving For Her   Room 166

Louis' POVWe landed in Elysian Harbour half an hour later. Of course in silence we walked giving each other a wide berth. I didn't know what possessed me enough to speak to her the way I did when we were on the jet. Yet, I could have sworn that I detected a softness to her. In her gaze, in her voice as though she felt my sadness and how vulnerable it left me.There was no annoyance, not an ounce of gloat when she had accessed me with those green eyes. They had turned from a mixture of blue and green over the years to a distinct almost emerald colour. I signed, her black heels clicking in my peripheral. The morning air was cold and slightly windy in the airport we had landed. Some of her brown curls pulled free of the restraint she had put on it. She tucked them back behind her ear. The gesture reminded me of a younger Zoe. It had always been a tell tale sign that she was nervous. Did it still mean the same? Or had she changed? I found myself reminiscing the times I had tangled my fin

  • Craving For Her   One Room and Two Enemies equals Tension

Zoe's POVTo say that I had not expected a reaction would be a lie but the reaction I got was not what I could have foretold. I believed he would have taken a pause when he realised what I had done and not completely rejected the room altogether.During much of my research on him, I traced an incident that occurred just a few months before the Rodriguezes' very ugly, public separation. On Christmas Eve they had arrived at this same hotel with little Sophia like any normal couple ready to celebrate a Christmas in luxury, but it had ended on a bitter note when Jennie had called the front office in a panic. She said that her husband would kill her. Like any normal hotel, they came running to be met with quite a scene. The room was in utter disarray; windows broken, the television smashed in and so on. Jennie laid in an unconscious heap with her face bruised and her nose oozing blood. Louis was found at a desk, passed out drunk with Jennie's blood staining his white dress shirt. This had

She had a perplexed expression on her face, and she was listening intently to the person on the other line. Her eyes were glazed over with tears, and I could tell that a few had already fallen. Who was so important to her on a call that she would look so bothered and almost heartbroken?I thought of the only logical possibility: a lover. That green, ugly feeling reared its head again. • Craving For Her   Rejected Proposal

Louis~An hour before...I watched her exit the party after excusing herself. I narrowed my eyes at her back as she left. She had sounded distraught after the phone call. What has happened? I wondered. It was not like it was any of my concern, but it was human to be curious.Just then I received a phone call of my own. I retrieved my phone to see that it was Adam Warner. He was the COO of BioGenix Pharma.A lump formed in my throat. We had sent the proposal a month ago, and I was looking forward to a partnership with a pioneer company like BioGenix.I picked up the call. "Hello, good evening," I said into the mouthpiece."Good evening, Mr. Rodriguez," Adam said. "I am calling about your proposal."My heart pounded as I braced myself for the news. "Yes, Adam. What about the proposal?" I tried to keep my voice steady, masking the anxiety creeping in.There was a brief pause on the other end, and I could almost hear Adam's reluctant sigh. "After careful consideration, we've decided to go

  • Craving For Her   His Jealousy

Zoe~We retired back to our hotel room. The moment we entered, Louis pulled away from me, recoiling as though I was suddenly diseased. I was confused—he had been quite okay not too long ago, so I wondered what had his ruffles in a bunch.I had not really planned how we were going to manage sharing a room for the rest of the wedding event without getting into any awkward situations. But to my absolute shock, Louis pulled off his shirt in one smooth motion, followed by his undershirt. Soon, he had his hands on his buckle, loosening it. He was undressing in front of me without a single care."Louis," I silently gasped. "I am still here."He turned to me fully, and I had an eye full of the broad expanse of his chest and promptly looked away."So?" he asked, his tone dismissive. To my horror, I heard the clinking of his belt buckle. I didn't even bother to try and ask him to stop; I escaped to the bathroom. I took a breath of relief.Until I heard the door click open. My heart lunged into

  • Craving For Her   Her Choice

Zoe's POV I surveyed my surroundings for the nearest D'Amato, only to notice the youngest D'Amato son, Alexander. He was smoking. It looked like my mission to get a DNA sample would be simpler than I had anticipated.I just had to wait. Then my phone rang. When I checked the caller ID, I realized it was Regina. A lump formed in my throat, but I picked up. Hearing her voice would be nice, but I knew by now that Abel would be asleep, so I would not get to talk to him."Hello?" I said into the mouthpiece."Mummy?" Abel whispered. "It's me, Abel." He sounded like he was holding back his tears.I looked around, panicked, hoping that no one heard his voice. But I was just being paranoid; the phone was not on loudspeaker. Yet, I had to be careful. "Louis, I need to take a call, I will be right back," I excused."Of course," he replied. I headed for the exit. I got to a terrace, overlooking the entire city. "Abel, dear. What's wrong?" I asked."Mummy, I miss you," he sniffled. "Please, co

  • Craving For Her   Drunken Confession

Zoe~I returned to the party, my cheek still stinging, but at least my plan had already been set in motion. The engagement ceremony was in full swing, with Sandra and Lucien at the center of attention, exchanging rings. Guests surrounded them, offering congratulations and well wishes. The air was filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses.Sandra and I locked eyes, and I gave her a wink; she nodded appreciatively. Even though I had ulterior motives, I was genuinely happy to see her starting a new chapter in her life with a man she obviously loved. As I made my way through the crowd, I spotted Francesca at the bar, downing glass after glass of wine. Her frustration was consuming her, and I knew she would soon be close to her breaking point. Perfect.I caught Louis's eye across the room and sauntered over to him, a seductive smile playing on my lips. "Having fun, darling?" I asked, wrapping my arms around his neck.He smirked, his hands settling on my waist. "Always, when you're a

  • Craving For Her   Clash in The Powder Room

Zoe's POV I was doing a greater job than I thought I could manage. The whole act was probably Oscar-worthy. It was all fake, even if I felt every desire radiating off his body. The music stopped, and someone taking the central stage clinked a spoon on a champagne glass to get everyone's attention. I looked up and saw Victor Callahan standing there, his presence commanding the room. "Ladies and gentlemen," Victor began, his voice resonating through the crowd, "thank you all for joining us on this joyous occasion." Everyone turned their attention to him, the room falling silent in anticipation. "As you all know," Victor continued, "tonight we celebrate the engagement of my beloved daughter, Sandra, and her fiancé, Lucien." He gestured to the couple, who stood together, smiling. Sandra's eyes sparkled with happiness, while Lucien's gaze was fixed on her with an intensity that spoke of his devotion. A round of applause and cheers erupted from the guests, and Victor paused to let the

  • Craving For Her   Restrained Passion

Louis' POV I downed a glass of champagne, feeling it bubble down my throat. I would need alcohol to get through this night. With each new introduction, my patience was depleting. And with each new woman that approached me making advances, that little patience was thinning. I looked over to where my 'date' was. She was speaking casually with Sandra. She even smiled at something Sandra said, then proceeded to laugh not even a minute later. She was a vision of calm and comfort. A beautiful one at that because I began to notice unwanted watchers. Their eyes were on where the two women sat. Sandra was not ugly, I had to admit, but compared to Zoraya, she could have been rated as average. And there was little chance that the men who had their eyes on where the women sat were pinning for the bride. A green ugly thing reared its head. Then one of the men began to make his way towards Zoraya. I guess it was time to get my date. But before I could move, a woman's arm hooked through mine.

I sighed deeply. "So you have heard? What he did?" I asked. She pinched the bridge of her nose and let out a huff of frustration. "Everyone heard. It made national headlines," she said. "But even if we digress, what about what he did to you?" she asked. "I heard that too."I did not like the pity in her voice; it took me back briefly to the vulnerable, broken girl that I had once been. I was no longer the pariah, Zoraya Carter. I was Agent Zoraya Pierce. I had to remind myself not to delve too deeply into the haunting memories."It is all in the past," I unwittingly mirrored what Louis had said. "Times have changed."She noticed the change in my tone and said nothing. We sat there for a few moments in awkward silence."Tell me this is for revenge for what he did to you," Sandra said, cutting through the silence. "You are only pretending; you are getting close to him to destroy him, aren't you?"I hid my true expression under a mask of casual neutrality. "That is actually absurd, Sandr

  • Craving For Her   Reunion With An Old Friend

Zoe's POVShe most definitely had pride, I noted."Thank you, Mrs. D'Amato," Louis replied graciously. "I'm glad to hear it's been of help to you."Her demeanor thawed a bit more, and she nodded approvingly. She did not even look in my direction any more. It was like I was not there, like I was not important. Cold reception, I guess.I couldn't help but notice the shift in her tone. The tension between them eased, and Louis was treated with a bit more kindness. His position had been the cause. Leo seemed pleased with the outcome and continued the introductions."And this," Leo said, gesturing to the elderly gentleman seated next to Charlotte, "is my father, Dominic D'Amato.""Pleasure to meet you, Mr. D'Amato," Louis said, extending his hand.Dominic shook it firmly, his eyes sharp and assessing. He looked regal in his custom Giovanni suit but had the appearance of a shrewd old man in a luxury suit. "I've heard good things about you, young man. Keep up the good work.""Thank you, sir,
