POV Isabella Di'Giotanno-
Eric droves straight home. We barely spoke the entire way. The truth is that I was totally absorbed in my thoughts and the pain of the fall caused by Juliette's psychotic state. I took some painkillers that Eric bought before driving home, but they didn’t really have much effect on me. So here I am, silently dying in pain.
In order to forget about the pain, I turn my thoughts to the idea of finally having a wolf, since I feel more excited than I'm really willing to admit.
Upon arriving at the pack house, Eric parks my Beetle while turning off the engine. I bit my lower lip as I asked Eric unsurely, "what is it like to have a wolf?"
He looks at me strangely while he tells me, "What are you talking about?"
I breathe slowly, while I try to organize my thoughts, then I ask him again, "I mean, how does it feel to have to share your brain and your body with another being?"
He seems to think for a moment and then answers, "Oh! That! Well, the truth is great. I've had Anouk since long before I was ten, so it's more than half of my life with him. Having him means... Big headaches, honestly."
He answers, giving me a big smile, the one I love to see. Then, he adds, "But seriously, Isa, it means having a best friend and brother. One who advises you and laughs at you when you screw up."
I respond nervously, "I believe you."
He asks, intrigued, "Why do you ask?" I replied, “curiosity.”
And then, he added, "Isabella, I have known you all my life, and this is the first time you have asked me that. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard you talk or ask about our wolves. Not even when you were little."
I bite my lower lip and move my hands nervously until I say, "I think my wolf is talking to me."
His face lights up as he answers me happily, "What? That's great, Isa!"
I, doubtful, answer him, "It is?"
He answers me reassuringly, "Of course! Why wouldn't it be?"
I sigh as I say, "I don't know, Eric; I know absolutely nothing about how to have a wolf."
He laughs amused at my doubt, while he answers, "Don't worry, Isa, is pure intuition. But when you are talking to her, try not to actually talk to her or else, they will think you are crazy. No, scratch that. They will think you are CRAZIER than you already are."
"Oh, my goddess, thanks for the recommendation!" I tell him by whitening my eyes.
"That's what friends are for." He tells me with a wink.
We got off and entered the pack house.
"Mom? Where are you?" I shouted from the stairs. I tried to contact mom from the mental link, but the connection was cut off.
"She's in Alpha’s office," Sarah, the pack house cook, tells me. That explains why the connection was cut.
"Thank you, Sarah." I said to her. Then I ask, "Are you coming with me, Eric?"
He sighs, smiles, and replies, "Nope, you must go alone. This is a conversation you want to have alone with your mom. But I appreciate you telling me first. It means a lot to me. Is special."
Looking at his perfect gray eyes, his beautiful, profiled nose, his luscious lips, and his gorgeous curly brown hair, I can see that everything he tells me is true.
I sigh. Then I approached, standing in front of him, looking into his eyes. I said, "Eric, you know how important you are to me, right?"
He asks amused "I am?"
"Shut up!" I replied with a smile.
And so, while smiling, he kisses me on the forehead, which seemed strange to me and more like a mate thing than a friend. I shake it off the idea while he sent me to his father's office.
I walk up the stairs and knock twice before I hear a deep voice say, "Come in." I open it and see the Alpha sitting in his chair and my mother sitting in front.
"Is something wrong, sweetie?" says my mom.
"Good afternoon, Alpha." I said nervously.
"Hello Isabella." Says the Alpha.
"Mom, do you think we can talk alone for a moment?" I asked hesitantly
"Alpha? Asks mom.
"Yes, of course, go Claire. Don't worry. We will continue with the preparations for the Assessment later."
"Thanks, Alpha." says mom. "C'mon darling."
We continued walking down the hallway to the right towards my room.
"What's wrong, child? Why so much mystery?" asks mom.
"Mom, I have something super important to tell you."
Mom responds intrigued, "Isabella please don't scare me."
We sit on my bed. I take a deep breath to calm my crazy heart as I tell her "Mom, I listen to my wolf."
"What? Are you sure?" she asked, surprised.
I respond with a nervous smile, "Well, either it's my wolf or I'm going crazy because I'm hearing another voice in my head that is not mine. And by the goddess! What a big mouth she has!"
Mom's face lights up as she answers me happily, "Aww, my baby! I'm so happy for you, darling. Did she give you any indication?"
"Yes, she told me to prepare for the full moon. That now it was too early, and she could not remove the veil."
"That makes sense." Mom frowned as she nodded.
"Has it?" I asked, confused.
She seems to think for a moment and then answers, "Well, yes. She must not be an ordinary wolf. She must have gifts. It makes a lot of sense that she waits for the full moon to come to you since it is at its highest point that it recharges our energies the most."
"Well, when you say it like that, I think it does." I replied smiling.
"I'm so happy for you, sweety.” Now her voice changes to one of concern, “But we must be careful. Now you are safe in the pack, but once you have your wolf, you will have to appear at the Assessment. The panel will notice that your wolf is different. And that's where problems can come."
I frown as I ask worriedly, "What do you mean, mom?"
She breathes deeply as she answers, "The other packs will know the type of wolf you are and will want to possess you, claim you as their Luna. It is very likely that we will have a parade of alphas, leaders, and every single wolf who wants to claim you. Isabella, the Moon Goddess always gives us a choice. You can choose your mate. And believe me, darling, the chosen mates have a stronger and deeper bond than the destined ones."
I open my eyes wide as I ask worriedly, "But mom, how could I defy the destiny that the Moon Goddess has prepared for me?"
She smiles tenderly, as she answers me, "Because, just as she gives us destined mates, she gives us the option to choose. Free will, Isabella. Always remember that, darling."
Before heading to work on the Assessment preparations, my mother hugged, kissed me, and assured me that everything would be okay, leaving me deep in thought and worried about the upcoming week, when the full moon will finally arrive.
POV Isabella Di'Giotanno A week has passed, and my wolf has become silent. After her last sign, she has not spoken to me again. I even think I dreamed it, making this whole situation cause me a deep anxiety. Damn wolf! My birthday is tomorrow, and today is a full moon. I am very nervous because I know that my life will change drastically. They say that the first shift is very painful, and being almost eighteen, I am mentally preparing myself for that level of pain. "Today is a full moon. Are you nervous?" Asks Eric."What do you think? Dah!" I tell him a little annoying."Wow, what a bad temper you have today. I hope your wolf is nicer than you, "Eric says, huffing.I whiten my eyes at Eric, while I stick my tongue out at him. He tells me in a serious tone, looking me directly in the eyes "Don't stick your tongue out at me. Otherwise, you want me to do something naughty with it." "What?" I say it, confused. "Forget it!" Eric replied. "Here they were!" They say entering Lun
POV Eric Lafallete It's almost midnight and Isabella's shift is imminent. Soon we will see the worst of a transformation and the best, what it is when the wolf emerges. We are waiting outside the pack house for the clock to strike 00:00. Mom has prepared everything inside the house, clean clothes, and food. Dad is patrolling, along with our best warriors, the borders. He fears that Isabella's transformation may attract rogues or other beings we don't know exist. The arrival of a Di'Giotanno wolf, as the story tells us, is a blessing, but it also means that something very bad is coming. Dad is very altisonant when he says it. He and Claire have been making preparations in case of an attack, at any moment. I feel very flattered that dad trusted me. Every progress or preparation he makes with Claire, he shares with me via mental link. Of course, this means that my nights of sleep are almost none, but it gives me peace of mind to be able to know the offensive and defensive strategy of the
POV Isabella Di'Giotanno Goddess, how it hurts!! I felt like I was being torn apart a thousand times in a second! It's amazing what the human body can do. My body shattered into the most incredible wolf I had ever seen. And she's mine. I am very curious to know why the moon goddess sent me such a wolf. Aika is big. She-wolves are not that big. She's only slightly smaller than Anouk, and that's an overestimation. It is completely white, and the tips of her fur are the color of platinum. Her eyes are a deep, bright blue. She is exquisite. I said, “Aika?” She replied, “I was finally able to tear the veil, Isa!” I tell her totally surprised, “Wow. Seriously, you are so beautiful!” She replied, “We are beautiful Isa... Never forget it.” Eric clears his throat as he calls her. “Aika?” She responds flirtatiously. “Hi Eric. I can finally meet you.” Aika speaks to Eric as if she were a human, moving her mouth. Then I ask her, “Aika, how can you do that?” She replied, “Aww Isa. There ar
POV Eric Lafallete Watching Isabella shift has been the most impressive thing I have ever witnessed in my entire life. Aika is a wolf from another world. Apart from the fact that she is not the size of a regular wolf, it is almost the size of Anouk, and this beast is indeed big. Her white fur with her platinum tips, her bright blue eyes, take my breath away. Every day that passes I believe that Isabella is made for us. She is perfect for us in every aspect. If only she could see it too! I asked Anouk, “do you realize what she bet? She wants us to ask her to do whatever we want!” He answers me annoyed, “Yes, I heard her, I was there, your empty head!” I respond in a threatening way, “Hey, control that big snout of yours Anouk, if you don't want me to take control over you.” He answers me, with a mocking voice, “Is that a threat?” I respond with my cold and threatening voice, “It is a warning.” Anouk bursts into laughter as he mockingly tells me, “How well I have taught you! I'm s
POV Isabella Di'Giotanno Once we transformed, Aika requested not to talk about responsibilities anymore and just wanted to take a walk. Feel the earth in your paws and the wind in our fur. But then, Aika couldn't think of a better thing than to bet against Anouk. What the fuck was she thinking? Damn horny wolf! I tell her very angry, “Damn, Aika... I still don't understand why you bet that. Anouk will find us, and we will be history!” She answers me calmly, “Calm down Isa! by the Goddess! You know what? You and I have to talk. The Moon Goddess made us extraordinary. I told you a while ago, there are only very few things we can't do. Losing against Anouk is not one of them. We can camouflage our smell. It is one of our many abilities that we have. But I will not do it. I refuse to do it.” If Aika wanted to make me angry, well congratulations, she did it! “Tell me, please, your highness. Why tell me you can do something and then tell me you won't do it? What the hell is happening to
POV. Eric Lafallete At last! Isabella admitted that she loved us! My heart gives no more happiness. I always believed that she was the one for my life, and I was right. I thank you, Moon Goddess, for sending into my life the most extraordinary she-wolf that could exist. I swear to protect her, respect her, and love her for all my life, until my last breath. I promise to give my best at every moment. I promise to be my best version to live up to my beautiful beloved. I hope that the Moon Goddess illuminates our steps, takes care of us, and protects us from the hidden forces that exist. Isabella tells me with her trembling voice, “Okay Eric, turn around. I trust you.” I told Anouk with a stern voice, “don't look at her. We promised we wouldn’t, and I don't want her to stop trusting me. Now that she has told me she loves me, I don't want to do anything that would make her doubt my intentions or change her mind.” He nods while saying with a military salute, “Understood!” I approach an
POV Isabella Di'Giotanno. We arrived at the pack house in silence. The path was calm, without incident, since as the forest was guarded by warriors, they made sure that no one was lurking around. Eric squeezed my hand the entire ride. When we entered, the entire house was illuminated. When I look around, I realize that all the servants in the house are gawking at me. I asked, annoyed, “What? Do I have something on my face?” I look everywhere waiting for an explanation. He looks at me totally amazed while saying, “Wow babe! You look incredible!” I frown as I tell him, “What are you talking about Eric?” Eric looks at me with total devotion on his face as he tells me, “Come! Look!” Eric takes me to the mirror that is built into the wall at the entrance of the house. There, I stand contemplating my reflection: my brown hair is now an ash blonde, almost white with waves that go down to my waist. My hazel eyes are now emerald, green. My tan skin is now white as snow. “Damn! Aika, what t
POV. Eric Lafallete Hearing Prince Alec's name makes my blood boil. I'm absolutely sure that the only reason she's calling my father is because of Isabella. Alec is a fucking son of a bitch. He just wants to conquer. He is not interested in loving, at all. He believes and uses women for his own benefit. Maybe it's because of how old he is. The experience, that's what he said. My ass! He is arrogant, who would do anything to win. Now, when everyone knows that Isabella is a convergent wolf, he will want to possess her. I fear for her safety, for her well-being and that Alec, that damn bastard, will claim her. I just need her to be okay. Whatever the cost. I just need it to be okay. Hell, it's been two hours since she accepted me and now, I'll have to fight the world to keep her. Anouk nods as she calmly says, “You should have more faith in Isabella Eric. She loves us and she will not leave us. She already feels the sparks and she already said it, the mate bond affects her differently.
