The sun had set and the moon now smiled to the world. The twinkling stars were having their playdate. However Theresa wasn't in a cheerful mood, she stomped to reception. She was furious. Her room was too dusty when she had gotten back from work and the bedsheets had not been changed. She slammed her hand on the counter.
"Didn't I pay for my room to be cleaned daily?" she yelled.
"Yesterday, you didn't clean and today, the same thing. What's wrong with you people? Do..."
The receptionist cut in, "Sorry ma'am. We will clean it now"
"Oh! I don't deserve my beauty sleep!" her voice dripped of sarcasm. She flipped her hair to her shoulder and placed both hands on her waist. Her tiny waist gave her the sexy hourglass figure. With her eyes narrowed, she gave a dominating look.
"Ma'am, you can stay in the swimming area. You can relax there while we clean. Your mates hang out there often" the receptionist informed with an attempt to mollify the tension.
"Can you believe what you are saying? I need my beauty sleep but the room is in a mess" Theresa glared at the receptionist, a plump blonde woman at front of the desk.
"Ma'am, please have mercy. We will clean it. Please!" It was a pity that the receptionist was lowered to the point of begging.
"Whatevs! We will stay at the swimming pool. Get your staffs working now" she stabbed her index finger on the counter and strutted back to her room.
Thelma lay on the bed. A soft music filled the room as she did some paper works.
"Thelma, we have to leave. They want to clean this place" Theresa snorted and stood at the side of the bed.
"I thought I said you should not complain. You could have done that in the morning when we are leaving for work" Thelma scolded.
"Can you just shut up and let's go. Since when did I started listening to you?"
They left the room as the cleaners walked in.
***************************
They got to the swimming pool area. The moon was still smiling as the stars twinkle amongst the dark blue sky. There was an arrangement of chairs with a table at the center and a big umbrella at the top. They were shock to see a number of people occupy those chairs.
A person walked towards them. At first, due to the dark, they weren't able to see the person until he drew nearer.
"Hey girls! What brings you here?" Oscar greeted with a bright cheerful smile. His dimples were also smiling. Everyone had a smile except Theresa.
"Oh, Oscar! Hi! We are here for some reasons. What about you?" Thelma replied, smiling back.
"I'm hanging out with some friends. Care to join?"
Thelma turned to Theresa. She pouted. Theresa shrugged with a disinterested look, "I couldn't care less. So don't even bother asking me".
A broader smile slipped into Thelma's lips, "Let's go".
Oscar turned to Theresa. His hands hung loosely at his sides, "How about you? Coming?"
Theresa just walked passed him as if he didn't exist or say a thing.
"Please, don't take it to heart" Thelma pleaded in sympathy. That would have definitely hurt.
"Me? No way! I expected that. Beside she is Theresa. The opposite of you"
"No! Don't say that".
"Then, you are saying that you are alike?" he rose a brow at her.
"Well.. " she faltered.
"Exactly! She is different! Let's go" he concluded and smiled.
Thelma and Oscar got to a table surrounded by some fellow young adults. Two women and two men were comfortably balanced in each chair.
"What's up, Thelma?" Kelvin greeted. She smiled and nodded.
"She wants to hang out with us," Oscar announced.
"Sit! You are welcome" Kelvin replied, gesturing to a chair.
She sat on the chair in between Kelvin and Oscar.
"So... What game are we playing?" Kelvin threw the question to the group.
"Let's play truth or dare" a young man suggested.
Thelma shook her head, and replied "No! Let's play a different game".
"Guys! Let us not forget that we have a goody two shoes in our midst" Kelvin teased.
"Don't be mean. Thelma, this is what we are going to do. We will make the game easy and good. No indecent act! Agreed?" Oscar remarked and she nodded.
The game began. The first player was a man and he selected dare. He was dared to go to the pool and sip some water which he must drink. The dare wasn't simple because some people were swimming. Not much but it would be irritating. Imagine drinking the water that washed a person's body.
The next player was a lady. She selected truth and she was asked the number of males she had kissed. At first, Thelma thought that question was dumb until she discovered that the lady could kiss any male, young or old.
She replied twenty in total for the last two weeks. At that moment, Thelma was disappointed. Why would you kiss that much men? For Thelma, every kiss counts. She wanted to share them with the man she loves.
The game continued until it was Thelma's turn. An unknown guy was to ask her. I must say truth, Thelma said to herself.
"Truth or dare" the young man asked. He stroked his goatee at his chin.
"Dar... No.. Hmm... Truth. I said truth," she blurted. She gripped her hair with wide eyes.
"No! Your first pick was dare" the guy smirked. Everyone laughed at the unlucky Thelma.
The man rubbed his palms together, licked his lip and said, "Hmm...I dare you to... Kiss Oscar".
That gave Thelma a big shock. Her heart palpitated and her stomach knotted as she felt edgy.
She would never do that. Oscar? She didn't even know him that well. She hasn't had my first kiss. Alex was her dream guy. She wanted to kiss him, no one else.
"Hmm...Can you make it easier? I can't kiss Oscar" she looked at Oscar whose expression had changed.
"She... She is right. Uh! Make it easier" he stuttered and pursed his lip.
"Okay! Since you won't kiss him. How about a peck?" the guy suggested and sipped from his drink.
Quickly Kelvin snapped,
"Is it only Oscar that's here? Dare her to peck me!"Everyone laughed except Thelma. She felt uneasy.
"Just peck him. It's no big deal" the guy teased and chortled.
It's a big deal for a girl that hardly come close to guys. Thelma haven't pecked a guy since her college days. And she did it because those guys were like her brothers.
"What's even your name?" Thelma asked.
"I am Dave also known as the Boss"
"Wow! I'm not surprise," Thelma sighed. "Can someone else dare me?" she pouted.
"No! That's the rule. Just do it" Dave insisted.
A sigh escaped her lips, leaned forward to Oscar and pecked his cheek.
"You see! It's that simple" Dave snickered.
"Wow! Look at Oscar. He is blushing," Kelvin teased. His shoulder vibrated as he tried to suppress an obvious laughter. Thelma turned and saw him look down shyly. His cheek tinted red.
You don't see that everyday, she thought and smiled at him.
"Thelma peck me too. I want to see the magic that made him blush!" Kelvin jested. Amusement danced among his light brown irises.
"Kelvin, you are the worst" Dave jeered, slapping the back of Kelvin's head.
It was Oscar's turn to play and he selected 'truth'. Kelvin was to ask him."My man! I will make this simple. How did you feel when Thelma pecked you?" A naughty smile shone on his Kelvin's face.Oscar feigning anger, he yelled, "Kelvin, what's your problem?""Ok! Ok! Here is the real question. It's so simple. Well, I need the answer to it sincerely because I have been asking myself. Are you dating Sylvia?"Dave exclaimed, "Yeah, bro! I have been asking myself"Who is Sylvia? Thelma wondered."Guys, you got it all wrong. I am not dating her. We are just friends" Oscar replied and shrugged."Bro, she doesn't see you as a friend. She is crazy for you" Kelvin pointed out."She even boasts that you love her as much" a lady amongst them added."I didn't know that" Oscar voiced. He raked his fingers in his blonde hair and shrugg
"Thelma, hurry up" Theresa yelled as she walked down the hall. They were on their way to work. Thelma fumbled with the bundle of keys as she tried to lock the door to their room."Just... Leave! I will lock it" Theresa pushed Thelma and locked the door. "As simple as ABC, sis!" she shook her head. They entered the elevator. On their way out, they saw Kelvin but he wasn't the usual Kelvin this time, rather he was gloomy. He had a long face.Thelma noticed this. She decided she had to say something to Theresa about last night. She turned only to find Theresa leaving the hotel building. Quickly, she ran behind her."Wait for me! ""Wait for you? We are late and you are telling me to wait. Let me remind you, I am the Managing Director. I am suppose to possess leadership qualities" Theresa flipped her off. They got into a taxi. After some minutes, they got to the company's buildi
Alex sat on his swivel chair. He steepled his fingers and rocked on his chair. He was contemplating on how he could get his business back in shape. At that moment, it wasdisoriented."Seriously, Vivian and that her brother are fools" Theresa commented as she toyed with a pen on Thelma's office desk. She sat on it and crossed her long legs."How can you call them fools?" Alex asked. "They need a better adjective worst than the word 'fools'. How can they even think for a second that I will give them 80% of our monthly income?""I know, right? They have proven to me that not everyone that looks normal are actually sensible" Theresa exclaimed, flailing her arms."Okay! Instead of insulting, let's think of a plan" Thelma suggested."What do we look like we're doing?" Alex snapped and narrowed his eyes at her."Playing?" Theresa quizzed with both brows up.
"All females are full of disappointment and deceit" Alex blustered."What did you say?"Thelma turned to him. She gave him a piercing stare."How can you say so? Women are passionate, sweet and awesome. How dare you say that? It is men that are generally full of disappointment and deceit. Try quoting me wrong!" she fumed and placed her arms akimbo on her waist.Alex dragged his hawkish gaze towards her and he cocked a brow, surprised to see Thelma's reaction."It's not fair! Aren't I a woman? And here I am working my butt off for your benefit," she hollered on."That's your job," he replied with a nonchalant expression."Why didn't you employ a man if men are that wonderful?" she shot back. She was trying to be calm since Alex was her boss but his words were too offensive."You have a mother, don't you? Then, you are indirectly referring t
Bang! Bang! Bang! The noise came hard on the bathroom door."Thelma, what's your problem? It is time for me to wash this face mask off," Theresa yelled and slammed her fists on the door.Thelma shook her head and unlocked the door. Theresa dashed into the bathroom, straight to the washbasin."What are you and Oscar talking about?" she queried and turned the tap on. She rinsed her face as the water ran down."Nothing much! We were actually talking about Kelvin. He is some sadist now. It is really bothering Oscar..." Thelma shrugged and pursed her lips at her sister. The name 'Kelvin' had made Theresa to open her eyes, letting the paste on her face roll to her eyes. She squeezed her eyes shut and cried out, "Ouch! Owww!" She tried to wash it off but mistakingly held the tap and a big splash dashed to Thelma's direction."Theresa, wait! I will help you. Please stop.
"Her royal highness, Princess Thelma is here" A knight said and bowed."We crown thee, Queen of the Crystal Island" a priest professed and placed his hand on Thelma's head. She was wearing a big blue ball gown. A loud scream from the crowd interrupted the silence."Oh, no!" a knight shrilled. "The dragon king is here" A large black dragon flew past them and a black warrior jumped out."I shall be the king of this Island," he declared and snarled."Princess Thelma, please come with me!" a Charming Prince held his hand out to her. Thelma, the princess placed her hand on his hesitantly. His warm large hand gripped hers and they ran. They dodged every fireball the dragon blew to them."You, fool! WAKE UP! WAKE UP..." Theresa's voice began to ring across the island as if the heavens were speaking."Princess, duck!" the Prince yelled as a fireball came straight to her face.
"Like I said, dad called me" Theresa uttered and placed both hands on her hip."And what did he say?" Thelma asked, owl-eyed."Calm down! I will still say it. No rush, babe!" Theresa hissed and sat on her office chair. They had decided to have their conversation in her office. Her office had a charming interior design, a office desk and a leather seat. It wasn't spacious like that of Alex's office but it was comfortable. It was highly ventilated. Fresh air blew in through the open glass windows while the sun beamed, illuminating the office. The fragnance that filled the air was Theresa's expensive perfume."Theresa, I need to get back to work" Thelma urged impatiently. She moved her weight from one feet to the other."To work for that fool? What is our reason for coming to this place?" Theresa threw the question at her. "Is it to become slave to that beast?""Theresa, he is your boss! Don't
"Sir," the female staff called out, trying to draw the attention of Alex who was immensely typing on his phone. "Sir!"What ensure was silence. The lady took in a deep breathe, "Sir!"The lovely silence still floated amongst them. She frowned at the thought of him ignoring her.A younger female staff in her early twenties came towards her. "Have you told him? What did he say?""Does he even know I exist?" the female staff said with a sneer."What do you mean?" the young lady asked."He is quite busy with his phone. Don't you see?""So? Get his attention""How about you try?"The young lady rolled her eyes and she cried out "Excuse me, sir!"Once again, silence had a strong hold of the situation. The female staff chuckled, "What's the matter?""Well then, let's create
"Men, I don't understand that guy. He is rude, authoritative, annoying... " a brunette girl who was older than Thelma stated. Yeah, it was an office gossip that was going on. A young guy buttedin, "He is so unpredictable and never smiles. Like come on! Is he some kind of robot? " "How do you survive as his P.a?" A blonde middle-aged woman asked, scrunching her nose to show her disapproval. Thelma shook her head and smiled, "Like I said earlier, he is not that bad if you get to know him. He is really nice. I am not even suffering as his assistant.... though he can be hot-tempered". Thelma's cheeks flushed as they all stared at her in awe. "You mean, he is nice to you?" the brunette girl gasped. "Yes! Sometimes...Mostly when he is in a good mood" "He respects you?" The young man exclaimed and craned his neck, his eyes scanning her in
Oscar pulled Thelma by her hand into Seabreeze Amusement Park that was located in Rochester, New York. Teenagers, adults and kids all flooded the area. In the wide landscape was a ferris wheel, a long rollercoaster, and other exciting fun-filled rides."Which ride should we go for?" Oscar quizzes with a wide, easy grin. Thelma looked around and a big smile mounted on her face. Her eyes flickered in amusement as she stretched her hands out."Ice cream!" she yelled and dragged Oscar along with her to the ice cream shop. "Ice cream for two!" she said and giggled."Okay! What flavour?" the shopkeeper asked."Hmm.. Vanilla and Strawberry flavor, my favourite. Oscar, what about you?""I would like vanilla and chocolate together" he smiled at Thelma."I love ice cream. Sorry, whatwere you asking me earlier?""Ride? I was talking
Thelma stared into the mirror. She couldn't believe who stared back. An image more like Theresa's. She looked so much like Theresa and she wondered if it was the makeup or the dress. She concluded that it was everything. She loved to dress casual. Theresa was the fashionable one, more like a fashionista. She was at the female's restroom. Different ladies moved about. Some were reapplying their makeup while others just stayed to gossip."Oh my! I must say, you look gorgeous!" a voice came from behind Thelma. She glanced behind her and was surprised to see Vivian innocently smiling at her."Like wow! I love your dress," Vivian commented."Thanks!" Thelma smiled back. She is acting nice. Why?"Oh, Look at this! A thread is loose in your dress""What? Where?" Thelma gasped as she look at her back. She stared at the mirror that reflected her back view.
Thelma couldn't believe her eyes. Alex was actually right. The party was a big one.The hall was large enough to have a bungalow in it. Its wall shone in a bright gold due to its lustrous paint. It had good ventilation. One could breathe properly no matter how crowded it could be. It was definitely a classy party, more like the ones for royals. Thelma felt like she had walked into a royal ball. However, she had a problem. Something that made uneasy. Her problem at the party was the fact that she found it difficult to walk on high-heeled shoes. Alex had selected a perfect pair of heels for her.Perfect my foot! I can feel and hear the surface of the earth threatening to trip me. How will I survive? She took little steps as she walked through the crowds to meet up with Alex's pace. She staggered and lost her balance. Quickly to avoid crumbling to the ground, she pulled the coat of a person clo
