"I don't need his money, Riley," my mother says.

"I know, but we need to start up afresh, and so we need this; after it is all over, I promise you we will leave and never return."

"Why you?" she questions.

"I don't know...."

"There are so many females; he is an Alpha, the most known; any she-wolf would want him; why did he pick you, and what is he going to gain from this? Because I don't think your companion for six months is all he wants," my mother says, hatred in her eyes.

"I've asked, but I don't know what he gains from this either, but we shouldn't care about that; we would be gone soon."

"I know why he picked you," mother says.

"You do?"

"Yes. It's some kind of payback. I ran away from this pack many years ago as a... sex slave, and my daughter is taken for the same purpose."

"I am not a sex slave!," I say, lying through my teeth.

"Tell me he hadn't bedded you more than once? This is what he wants; they want to ruin us, and it started with me," she says.

I stood silent, because

When I walked into our room, he wasn’t there. The sobs racked my whole frame, the guilt felt too much to bear. What if mom was right? What if this had been while Thane wanted me back here? I had to be strong when I was with her; I had to be the stronger one, but now back in my room, I could be weak.I hated the fact that I could no longer see a light at the end of the tunnel. This room, despite being so wide, felt so suffocating all of a sudden. I inhaled deeply, trying to steady my breathing, but that didn't work this time.I paced round the room, my heart slamming against my chest. What if Thane wanted me locked in here for the rest of my life, in this pack, never able to escape? , what if I could never leave? The thought alone builds a strange claustrophobic feeling in me. I walked to the dressing room, pulling the door open. I pulled down all the clothes there, threw down the desk and chairs. I picked up the broken leg from one of the table, and I slammed it against the other glas

Dinners... Parties.... events. Two weeks pass by and I am completely numb. I might be alive but not exactly living; everything seems to move in a blur. I do as Thane says, not once going against him; my mother is worried, but I didn't know how to explain to her that her little girl had been so ready to leave her all on her own. The equipment I destroyed had been replaced that very day. Thane never brought it up, but it would always remain an unanswered question. Why? Why did I think taking my own life would solve anything? I still couldn't give an answer to that because at that moment it felt so right, but when I was finally calm, reflecting on it, I knew it had been so wrong. We were both in the room. Thane was saying something, but I couldn't make out the words."Riley?" he calls, finally noticing that I wasn't following at all."Yes Thane?""What's wrong with you?" he asks."I'm sorry, I'll try...""You don't have to be sorry for anything; you did nothing wrong," he says sounding sl

Axel’s touch was different; so gentle and light it was almost inexistent. He thrust into me again, and I bit my lips not to make a sound. My legs circled around his waist, the hunger in me building up, and in some way he knew—he knew exactly what I wanted. He turned over so I was on top, letting me take the lead. I rode him, going faster, our breaths coming out laboured, my hands trailing his body; he seemed to like my touch. I moved faster, and his hands circled around my waist, guiding me so I wouldn't fall over."Axel..." I called out, pausing, but he wouldn't have that. He led me by the waist, and I let out a loud moan. I cummed, taking him along. I felt the warm liquid in me.I fell over his body, wanting to remain in this position. I didn't want to think about anything else, and Axel gave me a few minutes to settle before placing me on the bed, besides him. He didn't leave though; he stayed, watching me as I lapsed into a deep sleep..Axel was gone by the time I awoke.I wonder

"Yes. It would only make me a creep if I told you that I know everything about you; I knew you would get to that” Thane explains"My mother said something." I paused. I didn't want to say anything to annoy him, not now when he was finally ready to talk."Go on," he prompts."She says you want me here... as some kind of punishment for her running away," I said, looking away from Thane."Do ‘you’ think that's why I want you here?" he questioned"I don't know; you've never given me any reason exactly, and her perspective seems quite logical.""After I took over as the Alpha, I ended the slave trades; now our captives have a choice. Do you know why?" he asked"Why?""Because I never wanted another woman to be treated the way your mother was, ever again. Riley I'm not trying to get back at her.""I feel like a fool for blaming her; if only she told me earlier..." I trailed off, wiping the tears. "I know she would be disappointed if she knew the mistake I had been about to make.""Hush, Ril

"I hate the fact that I can't transform into my wolf form like the rest; in some ways, it makes me feel incomplete, like I am missing something. I feel like a mere human," I said to him."Maybe something could be done to retrieve your wolf?" He asks, but I shake my head; nothing could be done. I knew that, and I had accepted it."Now I want to know something about you," I say. There are many things he keeps to himself, things he keeps hidden, and if only he could open up—but then I remembered what had happened the last time he did open up. I took that for granted; I used it against him. Would he ever be willing to do that again?"What do you want to know?""Anything," I say."That's pretty wide," he says. I didn't really think he would give out anything private, but then he began. "You've always wanted to know why I had never gone to my mother's aid, why I left her to Slade.I believed that my father wasn't as bad in the past; maybe I could be wrong, but I do believe my mother had a p

"I had planned to cover up the trails when we were done, and this time she wouldn't be found by my father. I was ready to die protecting her even if she didn't deserve it. We agreed to meet by midnight; Slade would be gone by then. I had a few soldiers loyal to me and not to my father by then. But when I got there, I met Slade waiting in her stead. She had betrayed me again; she had told him about the plan just to get on his good side. She never once stepped in, never once helped; she was grateful to have him furious at someone else rather than her. If only she knew that Slade will never forgive her infidelity and she still pays for it. I had sworn that day to never step in or try to save her; she did make it clear that she did not want to be saved. My father couldn't control me anymore; I rebelled against every single thing he did, and he hated me for that. That's the reason the pack had to be split into two; he wouldn't let go of power even when his reign was over, and I wouldn't le

There's a knock on the door, and I'm awoken from a very peaceful slumber. It was Axel."Why are you here so early?" I questioned"It's actually very late, close to midnight, and you've slept long enough," he says, letting himself in.That's when I noticed something different about him; it was his dressing. Don't get me wrong, Axel was always good-looking and in the right dress, but a white well-fitting dress shirt paired with dark grey chinos was unlike him."Uhmm, was the occasion?""Is a surprise?" he says."I don't like surprises.""Trust me, this one you will like," he says, deliberately imitating Thane."I trust you, so this must be good," I say, heading towards the door."Where are you going?""You said you have a surprise for me?" I questioned, giving him a pointed look."Not dressed like that; you look good, but maybe a bit more effort.""You've never been bothered about my dressing.""You will thank me later for this," he says, and I huff.."The blue is nice; it complements

It was very surprising that they had arranged all these in just a few hours."What is this?" I asked, still in awe of everything."A date between the three of us," Thane answered. "I told you I was going to try make this work.".I had never heard of a date between three people, but this attention... I could get used to this."Nothing like a midnight snack in the middle of the woods," Thane said as Axel dropped me on my feet and I walked forward."How did you plan all these in a matter of hours?" I asked."It will be worth it if you like it.""Of course I love it!""Then that's all that matters.Axel took a seat, and Thane leads me to my seat, being the perfect gentleman by drawing out a seat for me, before having his own seat. I could really get used to this."Hope you are hungry?""I am starving.""Good".It was fun; we all engaged in little chats about very random things, and at this moment I felt like I had known these people all my life."Axel," I called."Huh?""You've never spo

1KADIA’S POVWhen I discovered the news of my pregnancy, I had been so happy. But I knew a lot would have to change.I had to be more cautious—for the baby. That meant I wouldn’t be able to keep training the pack soldiers for much longer. Of course, I’d have to give up that duty eventually and it had become a part of my life. I would have to watch my diet, too. And then there were other things. Like the fact that I would grow big, and I might not look the same. My toned stomach which I had spent years working on would be no more. This had been the type of life I once abhorred, but everything was different now—I wanted this. I could see a future with Alexander, filled with laughter and little kids running around, and the thought made me smile.Lara was the first person to find out I was pregnant. After I discovered the pregnancy test was unmistakably positive, I was as scared as I was excited.Lara happened to be visiting the pack, and we kind of bumped into each other. She was all s

KAIDA’S POVThe flesh-eaters were all gone. Packs that had been destroyed were slowly rebuilding; the chaos had finally settled. But there were still many things to attend to—like the few humans who now knew that dangerous supernatural beings lived among them. The human president had reached out to us; He was ready to pay whatever sum was needed to keep creatures like the ‘flesh-eaters’ away, as they could cause civil unrest among the people. He was willing to pay even more so things could return to the way they were when humans and supernatural beings lived separately.Alexander sent a letter back, assuring him that the ‘creatures’ were gone and that things would continue as usual. What they didn’t realize was that many werewolves and supernatural beings already lived among humans. They owned major companies and enterprises worldwide. From popular clothing brands to tech products, much of it was secretly controlled by the werewolf community. One constant worry lingered on my mind —

JADE POVEarlierI had chosen to spend my final hours in the little underground lair just beneath the small house I owned. At the other side of the room, trapped behind a magical wall, was a flesh-eater. I had captured it and brought it back here. If Aliyah does go through with her words, then the creature wouldn’t last until the next day.Hours passed, and the beast remained caged—still alive, still stupidly trying to push through the magical barrier I had created to contain it, no matter how many times it got scarred from trying.I wouldn’t blame the girl if she backed out; she had every right to make that decision. She was young and in love—it wasn’t easy to let go of everything for people who were mostly strangers.Beside me was a picture of Ralph. The only one I had, and the only thing that had accompanied me through the years. Many would say I lived a lonely life, but that was the only way I knew how to live—though it hadn’t always been that way.I thought back to when Ralph wa

DAEMONAliya was in the same silk white nightgown she’d slept in. A soft breeze blew through her silver hair. She looked surreal, like an angel. “I have to do this.” She said, and I could see the determination in her eyes.“No, you don’t have to do this. I told you I would find a way…”“There is no other way.” she said, cutting me off. “This is the only way. I can end the war, and this is what I have to do to end it.”I’d remember those words in the dream I had. She’d told me how she could “end the war.”Those eyes stared at me like she could read exactly what I was thinking.“Do you love me enough to let me go?” she whispered—and that’s when it hit me: it was never a dream. “The undead would be gone if Solene died. The war would end if I took my life—with this dagger.”“Tell me one thing, Aliyah. If you were in my place, would you let me go?” I asked. Tears spilled down her cheeks. She didn’t answer, maybe because we both knew what that answer was. “Why in the hell do you think

ALIYAHI stood watching the lake. The memory of what had happened here resurfaced, and I smiled. There were still so many things I had yet to do, so many adventures waiting out there.I looked down at the dazzling diamond on the engagement ring Daemon had given me. It must have cost a fortune, but that wasn’t why I thought it was beautiful. It would always be my most prized possession because of what it signified. Now I could see the truth—Daemon would have given up his title to be with me.I didn’t deserve his love. I didn’t deserve him. And yet, I wanted him.The best days of my life were the ones I spent with Daemon. Truly, he was the greatest gift life had given me, and I would always be grateful for that. But I had to make a decision.**FLASHBACK**“I need to speak to the girl alone,” Jade said, and I watched the others walk away, leaving me alone with the sorceress.“I remember it all,” I confessed. “I remember how many people died because of me… how many others I killed.”“That

“What did I taste like?” Aliyah asked.“Different… better.” If that was even possible.“That’s because I still have her powers. Even if she’s locked away, she’s still in there.”“You feel her?” I asked.“I hear her. She never stops reminding me that my time is ticking.” Aliyah said.“I will make her pay for what she did to you,” I promised.“She will pay.”…In moments like this, we truly see the vanities of life. Wealth, power, titles—none of them hold any true value. What truly matters are the small, fleeting moments shared with the people you love. Those are the things that endure.Time, too, is a precious thing. It belongs to no one, and no one can stop it. Aliyah walked out of the bathroom.“This is the best bath I’ve had in a really, really long time.”“Would have been better with me in there.”“Maybe, but I’m sore, and we both know you can’t keep your hands to yourself.”“You’re right about that. Now take a seat.”“Why?”"Or stand, if you prefer," I said, watching her raise an

DAEMON’S POVThis wasn’t a dream. It was real; Aliyah was back. All I wanted to do was apologize, over and over again, for every wrong I’d done to her. I wanted to beg for forgiveness, but we only had a single day, and I wasn’t going to waste a second of it. I just wanted to make her happy and give her something to hold onto.“Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?” I asked, and she smiled.“Yes, you have, but hearing it a few more times wouldn’t hurt.”I’d decided to take her away from this pack—to somewhere far from all the chaos and everything that had been happening these past few days.“How did it feel?” I asked, and I didn’t need to say more, she understood exactly what I meant.“Awful. I was there, and yet… not. I couldn’t see what was happening, couldn’t control anything—but I could hear. I heard everything.” She looked up at me. “I did hear when she tried seducing you. And I felt her embarrassment when you turned her down.”Her smile widened.“She might have your body, y

KADIA’S POVTwo packs had been attacked by the flesh-eaters; only a few survivors escaped. The other packs were strengthening their security to avoid being caught off guard. Humans weren’t exempted; many had reportedly gone ‘missing.’ Though their government was doing its best to cover things up, it wouldn’t be long before they could no longer dismiss it as a ‘serial killer attack,’ the work of ‘kidnappers,’ or even ‘wild animal attacks.’We continued to receive a flood of messages from packs allied with us, requesting aid and weapons. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn’t help them all. The Nightshade Pack was under curfew—only patrollers and soldiers were allowed outside after nightfall. It was a necessary safety measure, even though the flesh-eaters still lingered to the south.I watched as Alexander opened an envelope and pulled out a letter.“What’s that?” I asked.“A letter requesting aid. What’s the pack’s financial situation?” he asked, and I pulled out the file.“It’s the

DAEMON’S POVDemons didn’t need sleep to function. In fact, we only did it out of mimicry.I usually never had dreams; all that existed until I awoke was black emptiness. But this time, it was different.I was dreaming about her. Aliyah. I knew it was her with just one look.“Daemon!” she called, throwing herself into my arms, her smile so bright. I knew this was a dream, but a part of me wanted to stay in it forever. I hugged her tightly, breathing in the scent of her hair, her skin.“I’m sorry. None of this would’ve happened if I’d made the decision. This is all my fault, and that’s why I’ll fix it,” I said, even knowing it was only a dream.“This isn’t your fault. It’s mine. I should never have let you go, but I was about to correct that… when they took me.”For a moment, I wondered if this was more than just a dream—if it was something else. A vision maybe.“I knew I’d never love anyone the way I love you and so I went after you to let you know that. But I want you to stop blaming
