Nortia's POV

I swallowed as I peered at the mirror, my reflection glancing back at me. I leaned against the wall, contemplating if I had to do this.

Tears snaked down my cheek because I knew there was no way I wouldn't, I had to do it, for my parents. I had to make sure that this goes away.

I gave myself a gentle tap on the face as I whispered to myself.

“Get yourself right, you have to do this” I cajoled myself, whispering words as I said that.

I let out a puff, my eyes glancing around at my closet as I tried to make out the most from it.

I settled for a red gown that hung above my knees, a black heels and a black purse to match, since I had decided to do it. There was nothing wrong with dressing this way, right?

I didn't want to give off more than I could take in.

My hands circled the lip butter I had in-between my fingertips while I contemplated on if I was going to put it on, on second thought, I slipped it back into my purse, took a long stare at myself before striding out.

I didn't have a choice in this, there was no one helping me out, I had to fight.

Maybe, if I could convince him to hand over the money I needed or convince my aunt to continue my treatment, then I could dump him later on, it wouldn't be that hard, would it?

Hopefully, he would be lenient enough to listen to my reason and find out that I was acting a different person from all the others he had met.

My eyes went to my phone which had beeped, a message from Maxwell reflected on it.

I scoffed as I read its content.

“Are you ready to be my mistress now?”

I was tempted to kick him because all of this had started with him, if he had been careful enough not to stick out his dick into Samantha, or loved me as he should have, then this wouldn't have happened.

I ordered a cab on the app, sent him the address my aunt had sent before watching as he zoomed off.

I was a big startled when it stopped me in front of a hotel, a five star one, but I chugged down the fear that had crept up back down, I couldn't let that show.

I kept my cool when eyes ogled, not sure if it was at me or someone else, I wasn't that pretty for anyone to want in their life.

Although I was always used to getting attention, that was before I met Maxwell, he had been my everything, until I found out, I wasn't the same for him, I was perhaps just one of the many he had in his life.

“ Booth C” I said to the receptionist who glanced at me, flashed a smile at me, before stretching a finger to her side.

“ We will have someone take you there”

I trudged after the young man dressed in a white shirt, and black trousers to fit, a bit startled when the door was pushed open for me to get it.

It featured two black cushions opposite each other, a leather table that separated them apart, and soft classical music serenaded the air, setting the mood.

I swallowed, startled when a hand slipped around my shoulders and a man came into view.

I had a hand over my mouth when he spoke, gosh his breath sank, he looked every inch of what my aunty had said, had gray hair over his face, my hands held my gown right as I flipped his hands gently off my shoulders.

“ You must be her, Nortia, your aunt told me you were a beauty, but I never knew you were such a goddess, you look beautiful”

A beauty? When exactly was I even one? Anything to get rid of me.

I shifted, slipping his hands off when he handed two glasses to me. I kept one down, while he sat beside me.

“Can I sit over there? I don't actually…’’

“ Oh, it's fine, I don't bite” he waved a hand in the air.

I sat opposite him, a bit conscious when I noticed how he kept glossing over me like he was going to strip me with his eyes. I held myself back from asking him what exactly he wanted.

“ A beauty, I must say…here” he handed me a glass, which he tapped gently against his before placing it back down.

I was repulsed, and I had to stop myself from retching, could this be done anytime soon?

“ I will be back” I watched as he stood up, walked out, leaving me all alone.

My eyes went to the glasses, which I switched before he could get back. I didn't trust him not to try anything funny.

He was a stranger, who could hurt me at any time. I was at his mercy, so it was only ideal that I looked out for myself.

The door snapped open shortly, and he had a giddy look on his face.

“You haven't drank yours yet? Is something wrong?” he inquired.

I shook my head, bringing it to my lips as I chugged it down.

It was fruity and sweet, and… I shook my head trying not to believe it as my head felt woozy, and I flicked my eyes open repeatedly trying so hard to stay awake.

A cruel smile spread across his face.

“It must be the effect of the aphrodisiac, I knew you will try to act funny, your aunty said you were pretty smart, so I drugged both, we will consummate the marriage and tomorrow get married”

I forced myself up, my breath hazy and my legs wobbled underneath me as I tried to find my way to the door when he slipped his hands around my waist, pulling me back.

“ Please…” I begged.

“ Don't,” I attempted to shove him away when he held me adamantly.

“ Touch me” I curled up into a ball, bursting into tears.

Alexis’s POV The gentle thud of the door as it slammed against it hinges startled me up, my hands strayed to the far end of the bed, the cold I felt forced me up while I searched for her. She was nowhere to be found, had I been dumped? I had a hand on my knees as I wondered, all of these were a first for me. I have always had girls throwing themselves at me, countless ones coming closer, numerous ones wanting me to bed me, but none of them had left before I was awake. A small cackle left my lips as I chewed on my lips when my eyes caught it, that red spot that glared at me. “ Dammit” I pounded into my fist, my eyes dimming in to be certain I was seeing right. “ Asshole” I cursed myself. I should have known she was a virgin, she felt tight, and she felt so different, everything about her felt different from what I have known. From the very first moment when she had slammed that dollar bill on my shirt, I had been intrigued. Someone had done the same, but she had offered to warm

I tried to search around for what might have caused the gridlock and when I saw nothing, I kept mute. I finally let out a sigh when I got to the hospital, it's vibrant and bold front glaring at me. My hands smoothened my chest as I endeavored to stay calm, it wouldn't help if I lost my mind, so I had to be relaxed. I took the lift that lead to the doctor's office, flinging it open to see him relaxed on his chair. “You came” his hands laced each other as he acknowledged. “And fast as well” I swallowed, gulping in. “Please don't…” I began. I was ready to do whatever it took just to make sure that nothing happens to my parents, for the treatment to continue. “Miss Nortia, you know how the hospital works, we aren't charity, and neither are your parent's charity cases, so it's only right that we

Nortia's POV I was seated before I found myself having regrets on why exactly I had let him pull me with him. I mean, I should have rebuffed him and stood my ground, why exactly should I be with him? I should be out there trying to get the money needed for my parents. “Take a chill” I jolted when his palm tapped on my lap, before flicking my eyes at him. Peeling his hands off, I asked. “ What do you think you are doing?” My words trailed off when he came to a screeching stop in front of a restaurant, one that I wouldn't be able to step in for years to come because I knew it requires reservations, and I was dead broke to even get one. My heart churned at whom he might be before I composed myself. My throat parched, and I was lost in my stream of thoughts when he got down, strolled around and pulled the door for me to get down. My orbs met his, piercing blue like those of a Siberian husky. “ Come” he held out a palm at me, waiting for me to take it which I did. “ What are we

Nortia's POV I erupted into laughter, a hand to my stomach at what he had just said, that had to be a joke, a massive one because I couldn't imagine anyone saying that. Was he one to casually make jokes just like this one? I pondered. I waited for him to join me, but he didn't, instead his eyes were waiting, and he kept gazing at me like something wasn't right. “ You are serious?” I asked, when I noticed how he didn't say a word anymore. “ You want me to be your contracted wife?” He nodded. “ But you barely know me” it just didn't make any sense. “ A night with you is what I needed to know all of that,” he explained. I heaved, taking in a deep breath before plopping to the chair. “ Spill” “ Nortia” “ Why would you want me to be your contracted wife? I mean, there are a lot of girls out there, and you hardly know me, and besides it was just sex, and sex could happen to anyone” He dragged in a breath before he said. “I have to get married, I don't have anyone nor a gf” “ Ok

Alexis's POV When I watched her scribble on the part that made her my wife right here and now, I couldn't help but stop myself from throwing a punch in the air, that was all that I needed. Two years was a lot, possibly too long to figure out whatever it was that I felt toward her, since I couldn't place my hands to know if it was love or merely attraction. “ I’m done” she uttered, pulling me out of my thoughts. I flashed a smile at her, before leaning closer. “ What would you be doing today?” I pulled her back when I noticed she was about leaving. Why was she so quick to leave? She glared at me. “ I don't think you have any right to know”I folded my hands underneath my chest, edging closer. “ Oh, I do. I am your husband, and you are to let me know of any inconvenience, do not keep them away from me. I will make sure you don't have to worry about anything else, all you have to do is say the word” She didn't look convinced as a pout remained on her lips before she wriggled her

Pulling the door open, my steps came to a halt when I stood in front of my cubicle but someone else was already seated, one who wasn't me. I swallowed down the lump in my throat while I managed to muster up the energy to ask. “ This is mine, why are you here?”A young girl gave me a smile before picking up an envelope. “ I was asked to hand you this in case you come in here” I snapped it open, my heart plummeting at what I saw.“ They can't…they just can't…” I whispered. I withdrew my hand, making sure she knew how it felt before she withdrew back into her shell. “ I guess you aren't a fan of handshakes then”I scoffed, I could see what she was doing, and she had lied. Alexis's POV “ What happened?” Nortia wanted to know when I stepped out, the house forgotten behind us. I didn't want to bring up the talk that they had given Samantha to me, for a start, it was mainly because I didn't know how she was going to feel about it and it would be best if I didn't. Also, it was going to prolong talks and when they did, it would be best if I really stayed out of it, I didn't want to hurt her feelings. “ It's nothing,” I explained, taking my position behind the wheel, while still fuming in rage at what I had just heard. I guessed I should be expecting it but I thought they would have some sort of respect for Maxwell as he was in the same space with them and being in the same space as them meant a lot. “Alexis” she called out suddenly, startling me. “ You are driving, if something is wrong then you should talk to me about it, I deserve to know since I brought you here in the first place” I shook my head at her, worried that I had made her feel tense in a

I didn't know what he was capable of doing and I really wanted to believe that he would heed my warning, the first one I had given him. “ You know both of our companies work perfectly together, before the ruckus of course, which was all my fault and I am sorry for that” her uncle said. I nodded at what he had just said, listening but barely even as all of my focus was on the tiny curve which Nortia had walked through a minute ago. “It's fine. You have apologized countless times already and I hold nothing against you” He beamed, making gestures at the maids who walked in with a bucket of ice and a wine dipped in the midst of it. “ I hope you will take this a

There is no way he would want her, Alexis wouldn't want someone like her” A slap resonated through the air before a voice came up, rage coating every inch. “There is nothing that will be too hard for her to do, we have to do that, her father wants her with him and she doesn't have a choice, he is a better choice than Maxwell and we are getting him, and that's final” My appetite was ruined in an instance, to think that I had put up my hopes too high and had actually thought they wanted me back but this wasn't for me, my uncle had done this for Samantha so she would be with Alexis, but Maxwell was here also, how was that going to be possible?I couldn't get off the thoughts that Alexis hadn't said a word t

I ate the gap between us, making sure she was in my arms before I tugged her closer. “ I am scared” “ Scared?”“ That someone else might see how pretty you are and take you from me”She gave a slight jab at my arms, while her face pinked. “ Are you ready to face your family now?” I was tempted to keep her in and locked in with her but I knew she had other important appointments which I couldn't keep her away from.“ How about we try making our baby now?” A finger ran up the length of her zipper before she smacked my hands, pulling it off. “ We have to go to my uncle and i

That was an exaggerated thing to say because I couldn't take that as a war, it was simply me going to the home which my parents had built for me but it had ended up being my uncle's. I let out a sigh, before whispering back. “ I will be back soon, I'm taking a shower”“ Should I join you?
