MADELINE'S POV

What was happening!!!

Everything was happening in a whim. It all looked like something out of a movie scene. My initial reaction was one of shock and total disbelief.

Rosaline didn't waste time. She dragged me out the pack square chaos. She barked orders to some warrior wolves to escort me back to the mansion.

I instinctively placed my hands on my growing bump as we moved. The distant sounds of snarling, breaking bones and primal roars sent shudders down my spine.

We were halfway to the mansion when a rogue wolf appeared, already shifted and ready to attack. It's eyes gleamed with brutality, and its snarls were chilling.

The warrior wolves charged forward, but the rogue was much stronger than them. In seconds, it knocked them all down, it's sharp canines tearing into their flesh.

Horror and terror paralyzed me. I couldn't move. The rogue turned its attention to me, baring its teeth and growling low. As it stepped closer, I instinctively stepped back.

ALPHA KONAN'S POV I sat alone in my study, the events of the last few days replaying in my mind like a relentless storm. Most especially, I couldn’t shake the image of Madeline—trembling, disoriented. My mind was a whirlwind of emotions—rage, confusion, helplessness. The weight of the surprise attack weighed on me. Everyone was demanding answers, especially the pack members whose lives had been endangered. They’d all come out to show their undying love and support, and now they were left with questions I didn’t have answers to. The attack seemed too well-coordinated to be a coincidence. There had to be a mole in the pack. Someone who knew the ins and outs of our operations. Someone close. Damien had to be my prime suspect. He would do anything, any way, to get what he wanted. He had suggested the duel, and the people who supported him might have been in on it too. The duel could have been a distraction, a ploy while they carried out their attack. But in the same breath, Damie

GODFATHER'S POV It's been ages alpha Gritus had summoned me. Answering to his summons, uneasiness got the better part of me. Alpha Gritus has been the bane in my life, the bane for my greediness. If greediness could make me survive in this harsh, cold world. I was ready to be a servant to alpha Gritus. The mere mention of alpha Gritus sends shivers down the spine of anyone who knows him. He was highly revered in the dark world for his gruesome experiment with wolves, people of his own kind. He is well known for his depravity and the cruelty he was capable of. He is someone you could tag as crazy and insane—his heart black as the night sky. Alpha Gritus had deep seated hatred for Oceanwolf pack. He had waged a long and bitter war against them in the shadows and he had sworn to entirely destroy them and annihilate them from the surface of the earth. Since he had given me another chance to live, I decided to pledge my allegiance to him. Because of my faithfulness and loyalty, he entru

MADELINE'S POV The pack doctor flashed the torch into my eyes. I felt uncomfortable and I blinked a thousand times. He let go of them and he swiveled his chair back to its original position. "With all your examinations done in the past few days, you are now better. Miss Madeline, you didn't particularly suffer from face blindness. You suffered from post traumatic stress disorder also known as PTSD. It is due to the extreme stress you subjected yourself to." "Your brain deciding not to remember people's face for the time being was because of the bad experience you witnessed and according to what you told me, you have been kidnapped and you witnessed the last pack attack in your condition. So it was very likely to happen." "But not to worry ma'am, I can see you have been punctual with your drugs and I am happy you can recognize the details on people's face clearly now." "Thank you so much doctor," I happily replied. "And Doctor please can you keep my coming here a secret?" "You me

MADELINE'S POV I sat on my bed, cradling my swollen belly. Something was wrong. Ever since I consumed the herbal tonic, everything went wrong and awry. I hadn't felt my baby's pulse in hours. This was very strange. I wasn't sure what, but I could feel it deep down that something was wrong. Confusion clouded my mind, my thoughts were muddled. Fear gripped my heart and I couldn't bring myself still. Maybe it was just my imagination, maybe it was tiredness seeping in. I tried to push the negative thoughts away. My mind swirled with terrifying possibilities. I needed to convince myself that everything was fine. I decided to indulge myself. Maybe reading a book could gnaw away my anxiety. Around midnight, I was woken up by a sharp pain on my abdomen. It felt like a knife had been thrusted in to the side of my stomach, my baby twisted and turned. I let out a gasp of pain, doubling over as the sensation overwhelmed me. I tried getting myself off the bed, but it was very difficult. The pa

ALPHA KONAN'S POV The past days had been so hectic and filled with pack activities with no break in between. Dan and Rosaline sat in a corner of my study working alongside me. We were hard with work dealing with the upcoming pack headquarters meeting and discussing strategies to improve pack security and the quality of lives in the pack. I was focused, reading and vetting pack documents until Dan interrupted my concentration. "Alpha Konan, the budget for the warrior wolves at the pack borders have been prepared according to your standards. Your signature and seal is all that is needed and the implementation of the budget begins." I took the documents from Dan and I skimmed through all the pages to make sure there were no form of mistakes in facts and figures. I was satisfied and they were perfect just the way I had instructed him to do it. "This is all good Dan," I said as I penned down my signature and seal on the documents. Make sure it is implemented without delay. It turned

ALPHA KONAN'S POV I walked as fast as my legs could carry me to Madeline's room. I sincerely prayed to the moon goddess to avert the news. I deeply hoped it was false. I was strongly in denial. With everything happening in the pack in the past few days, my position as the alpha was hanging on a thin lined thread and this wasn't the right time for such tragedy to occur. Nurse Maude stood right in front of Madeline's room, sadness written all over her. Upon seeing me, nurse Maude lowered her face, unable to meet my gaze. "Nurse Maude, I believe I assigned you to be Madeline's caregiver, and I believe the rumors about her losing the pregnancy are not true." "I'm sorry to say this, Alpha Konan, but Madeline lost the baby, and the pack doctor confirmed it," nurse Maude replied. My mind reeled, as I tried to process the news. "Alpha Konan, nurse Maude whispered and knelt down in submission. I am deeply sorry I couldn't carry out your order to look after Madeline and the pregnancy. I

GODFATHER'S POV I was so anxious. Kong was taking so much time to return and just as I was about to lose patience, Kong entered. "Kong, what's the situation in Oceanwolf pack. We are finally free from Alpha Gritus's grip. "Kong, you can now send a message back to Alpha Gritus that the mission was successful and we can advance onto the next plan. "I will do that immediately godfather," Kong replied. Kong hastily left the cottage to deliver the news. "Godfather, Copro called. What do we do about Petra's sister. Should we to release her now?" MADELINE'S POVThe new pack agreement was finally approved and put into effect immediately. We had all returned to Oceanwolf Pack.Alpha Konan and I hadn't spoken to each other since that day in Crescent Pack.Grandma Catherine and I sat in front of the pack mansion, watching as the sun dipped low into the horizon.Alpha Konan approached from the side path of the Pack Mansion, with Rosaline and a few warrior wolves trailing behind him. His face still carried the bruises from that fight.Everyone bowed in respect, including me. He just nodded, as expected of an Alpha. No words. His eyes caught mine briefly. Rosaline, swift as she was, glanced between us as if reading us both.I held my chin high, ignoring the sting our little misunderstanding had brought. After they were gone, Grandma Catherine's voice broke through like a soft bell."You had a fight with Alpha Konan," she stated.I didn't pretend. "Yes," I replied. And we started walking. She hummed for a while, then asked, "Why?"I l

MADELINE'S POVThe silence that followed was drawn thin like a bowstring aiming for its target. Warrior Wolves on both sides grew rigid. It was as if the earth stopped its rotation to watch.I met Alpha Konan and beckoned to him not to do this. Instead, he ignored me like I was some trash to be disposed."Really? Konan. A duel?" Alpha Novare said, tightening the piece of cloth on his wrist.Alpha Konan didn't waste time. He stalked to the sparring circle and peeled off his shirt as if it offended him. Both of them were now shirtless, carved from pure grit and bloodlines, sweet and moist like candy. This was not the first time I had seen them shirtless, but the warm rising sun was unforgivingly honest, highlighting their Greek god features. It wasn't just me. Other women around. Even the male warrior wolves pretended to be unaffected, but I could feel the temperature spike.Still, in my own realm, the fight started. It didn't just start, it detonated. They didn't move like men. They mo

My clothes hung in tatters, but I cared less.Gabriel, on the other hand,, stood there, staring with an infuriating grin."That same scent..." he said dramatically, inhaling like an idiot. That same lithe, bossy little frame—but today...I swear, you look stunningly sexier, even in your tattered clothes.I hissed between my teeth. "Why did you follow me into the woods?"He shrugged. "Saw a rogue wolf tearing through Crescent Pack lands. Wanted to make sure it wasn't some rogue.""You wish, don't you? I questioned curtly. Why weren't you at the meeting?"He cocked his head, his infuriating grin, spreading wider now to his nose and ears. "Some strategist missed me. You did, didn't you?"His words slithered cunningly through the forest air. Rose moved aimlessly and restlessly within. Always perfidious when it came to Gabriel."There are other capable male wolves out there, ones who surpass your abilities all around, one wh

MADELINE'S POV I was still reeling. Everything had happened so fast. As the two Alphas left, everyone began to trickle out. Some scoffed, while others glanced at me with a newfound curiosity. The rumor about my subtle disrespect was already making rounds like dry, winter fire, twisting through both packs. My body aches for rest. I made my way towards the guest quarters, and a familiar shadow stood like a wall, waiting on the path. Louisiana, always the same, ready to mock me at any turn, asked with a profound derision. "What are you doing back here? Still can't get enough of Crescent Pack? Why are you back here as a damn diplomat?" I forced out a confident smile. Why don't you ask your Alpha? He still keeps crucial information from you, Luna?" She rolled her eyes dramatically and hissed. "The proposals about the new pack agreement are solid. It's a good plan, peace between Packs." I was thrown over the roof for a second. I wasn't expecting acknowledgement from anyone,

ALPHA GRITUS POVI paced the room continuously, like a caged beast. My mind was a battlefield, torn between rage and helplessness. The words kept replaying in my mind. "Godfather has been captured."Captured. I could see it all clearly—him bound and shackled, bleeding from the hands of Alpha Konan and Oceanwolf Pack bastards.Godfather wasn't the kind of man to beg. They would torture him, humiliate him, drag out every bit of useful information he had, I knew that much. ALPHA KONAN'S POVAs I neared my study, the scent of something familiar, innocent and sweet, struck me.Madeline. And she was a stark opposite what her scent represented. She just stood outside the door; tense, fidgety, her shoulders slouched. Even in the thin light, I saw the shimmer of unshed tears in her eyes.I breathed out slowly. I had expected this, this confrontation. I had given the instruction that no one allowed Madeline see godfather. And consider how stubborn she was, she would go see him.Seeing him would only reopen her wounds. Keeping her away was the only way to protect her."I heard you captured him... godfather," she said, her voice strained with frustration.I didn't reply. I reached for the study door and pushed it open. She followed, hot on my pursuit."I need to see him," she said as soon we were inside."No," came my reply. She paused, wide eyed, as if my response had struck her like a gavel striking judgement."Why not?" She retorted.I turned to face her full

  • Contracted Mate To Alpha Konan   CHAPTER NINETY SEVEN

ALPHA KONAN'S POV I took a look at Godfather's body, hung upright, his arms stretched above his head. His wrists and ankles were bound in thick, silver chains laced with painful shift serum. The serum was already working its magic as usual, keeping his wolf weak and on the edge of madness, but not enough to let him slip. I stepped closer and took in more of his sorry features. His head dropped forward, his chin, resting just above his chest. He was unconscious. Behind me, Kellan asked. "What do you want to do with him, Alpha?" I didn't take my eyes off the bastard. "Wake him up." Kellan got into action immediately and drove his balled fist hard into the godfather's stomach. A strangled grunt escaped from godfather's throat, his body jerking forward against the chains. His eyes opened slowly, and then realization struck. He struggled against the chains, but they held firm. He just winced, in pain. The serum had seeped deep into his system, making his every movement dr

My body still tingled, my mind still spinning from everything that had just happened, but still hungry with need. For a while, neither of us spoke. Not that the silence was uncomfortable. Then, he turned his head to look at me, in a very soft way."Did this just happen?" He murmured more to himself. He let out a slow breath. "This is like a dream come true."I didn't know what to say. A part of me couldn't believe it either. Then, he shifted onto his side, facing me fully. "I have done grave things to you, things that scarred you. Forgiving me won't be easy, but I want to try, one step at a time, I will fix things.
