Damien shook his head. He could not be hung on his past. It has passed and he was at a very good place in life.

“Jack booked the hotel,” Damien mentioned.

Anna shook her head. “No, we can’t stay in a hotel,” she insisted. “I will drive us to our destination.”

Damien didn’t argue with her over the plan. He had come here because she had asked him to. She seemed to know what she was doing and he trusted her with whatever was going on. After working nonstop throughout the flight, exhaustion was starting to set in. He closed his eyes as Anna took the car, dismissing the driver. The rhythmic hum of the road beneath them and the pitter-patter of rain on the windows lulled him into a light sleep.

After an hour’s drive, Anna pulled the car over to a small bungalow which was situated in a semi-countryside area just outside the city. Damien glanced around as he saw the quiet and isolated place standing in clear contrast to the bustling London he had remembered. It was late and the night air

At that moment, Anna noticed Damien standing in front of her. She greeted him with a soft, “Hi.”Damien, feeling slightly out of place, asked, “Do you need help?”Anna looked at him, a small smile playing on her lips. “Do you know how to cook?”He shook his head.“Then it’s fine,” she said.“I can chop vegetables,” he offered. “Just tell me what to chop.”She raised her eyebrows but nodded. “Okay.” She guided him through the task and showing him how to slice the vegetables. To his surprise, he picked it up quickly. While he chopped, she boiled the pasta and reheated some freshly baked sourdough bread that the housekeeper had stocked in the refrigerator. As he watched her cook, Damien was captivated by her talent in the kitchen. Anna heated a pan, drizzled olive oil,and sautéed tomatoes with a mix of other vegetables,. She filled the room with a mouthwatering aroma. She finished the dish by grating cheese over both their plates of pasta. When Damien took his first bite, he glanced at he

The next day was sunny as Damien and Annastasia left the house. She had baked a cake and was carrying a bouquet of flowers. He didn’t ask her where they were going as he simply followed her in silence. They walked for a while and when they reached their destination, he glanced at her. He noticed a shift in her demeanor. She walked ahead but her body was tense and focused solely on moving forward. It was as if she feared that if she looked around, she might lose the courage she had mustered. They stopped in front of a cemetery, a large tree casted a shadow over the graveyard. Annastasia placed the cake and flowers on a nearby stone before kneeling to clear away the dried leaves and dirt with her bare hands.Damien watched her, feeling a lump form in his throat as he saw droplets of water fell onto the grave. It wasn’t the sky that was raining but her eyes. Once she finished cleaning, she gently laid the flowers on the grave. Then she turned to face Damien, her eyes red but managing a sm

Later that evening, Anastasia sat on the swing sofa, wrapped in a thin blanket and was holding a cup of coffee. She had cried so much that her eyes and head ached. Overwhelmed by her emotions, she couldn’t shake the feeling that Damien might think her tears were just for attention. She did not want him to think that she did all of this to prove a point to him. As she sat lost in thought, Damien walked in and said, “Let’s get dinner.”She blinked, realizing she had completely forgotten about eating and hadn’t even prepared anything. “Did you make dinner?” she asked. He scratched his head sheepishly. “I’m hopeless in the kitchen. I ordered takeout instead.”A smile spread across her lips. “Okay.”Instead of heading to the dining table, they settled on the rug in the living room and eating the food from takeout boxes. “This is good!” Anastasia exclaimed, savoring her food.Damien nodded in agreement. “Are we leaving tomorrow?”She nodded, “Have you ever been to London?”He shook his hea

Claire stared at the screen as her frown was deepening with frustration. Something had been kept from her and the thought made her tense. She switched off the TV and tossed the remote onto the table. Just then, the door opened and her husband’s wheelchair was pushed into the room. The helper quietly stepped out when he saw her and left them alone."Hubby, how are you feeling today?" Claire asked, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. She was quite a good faker. "I’m fine," Harold replied, his voice calm. "How was Regina’s competition?"A wide smile broke across Claire’s face. "Regina came first in the first round. You know how she is. She always excelling in everything she does. It is no surprise she will win this contest too."Harold hummed in acknowledgment. After a moment’s pause, Claire spoke again. “Why did you drag me here?” Anastasia asked Adeline as her tone was filled with frustration. They were seated at a cosy table in a restaurant where Adeline had insisted they meet. The contest had so consumed Anastasia that she barely had time for anyone including Damien. She barely sees Damien these days. Adeline leaned in closer and whispered, “I want you to meet someone. During breakfast, Damien sat at the table as he was pretending to read the newspaper while waiting for Anastasia. The tension between them had been thick since they returned from London and for the past two days, they had barely spoken. It felt like they were living in a chilly silence each of them too proud or what Anastasia said too busy to break it.He heard the click of heels on the floor and turned to find his wife approaching. She looked stunning, dressed in a classy, long pleated white skirt paired with a sleeveless white vest top that had a subtle V-neck which was teasing just enough to hint at what lay beneath. Her new hairstyle framed her face perfectly while accentuating her delicate features and she wore a soft lipstick that made her lips pop. Damien couldn't help but sneak a glance from head to toe, his eyes lingered on her red heels which were the only splash of colour in her monochromatic outfit. Although her attire revealed very little skin, it stirred feelings inside

It had been a week since Regina moved in with Damien. Today, she felt a bit confined inside the house, so she decided to step out for some fresh air. She had been very unwell. Ever since she was discharged from the hospital, she had been experiencing nonstop bleeding. When she asked the doctor, she was told that they had found a cyst in her uterus and had to operate on her. Because of this, she was facing several symptoms. But Regina felt as though her body had gone through too much. She was not the same person she had been a few months ago. She had gained a lot of weight, and her breasts were always achy and swollen. She didn't understand what was happening to her body, but the doctors assured her that it was all due to the medication.Stepping out of Damien’s house, she exited the main gate and began strolling through the neighborhood. It was a quiet and charming place with beautiful houses and families playing in the gardens. Suddenly, the sound of a baby’s laughter caught her atte

At Abel’s house, Ronan was patiently guiding him on how to handle the babies. The twins kept them both busy, and although Ronan’s parents were around to help, he wanted to learn everything himself. Abel, too, was determined to learn despite the exhaustion; he wanted to be there for his daughters in every way possible.“Yes, look, you rocked her to sleep,” Ronan praised, watching as Abel gently cradled one of the babies, soothing her into a peaceful slumber.Abel carefully placed the sleeping infant into the crib before turning to the other. He repeated the same motions, soft rocking, quiet hums and soon, the second baby was asleep as well.A breath of disbelief escaped him. “I can’t believe I did it,” he whispered, staring at his daughters in awe.Ronan smiled. “They know you, Abel. They recognize your scent, your touch. You make them feel safe.” He patted Abel on the back. “The more time you spend with them, the easier it’ll get.”Abel nodded, his heart swelling with both pride and s

She lay there with a soft smile, feeling safe in his embrace. After a while, they shifted positions. This time, Anna curled around him, pressing gentle kisses along his shoulder and neck, her fingers tracing lazy patterns on his skin. It was her turn to spoil him, to love him the way he always loved her.Later, they sat on the floor together as they began to share the meal Damien had brought. The warmth of the food and the comfort of their closeness made everything feel peaceful.Anna took a bite and sighed happily. “Mmm… I missed this,” she said, leaning in to kiss his cheek. Then, her voice softened with guilt. “Damien, who is taking care of your meals? I’m so sorry I haven’t been paying attention to you.”Damien chuckled. “Come on, baby. I’m fine. Ashton sat on the couch in the living room, his small hands clenched into fists as he frowned. His frustration was clear. "Why is Aunt Regina living in our house while we have to stay here?" he asked Adeline, his voice filled with confusion and hurt.Adeline looked at the little boy, seeing the sadness in his eyes. But then, in a much softer voice, he whispered something that broke her heart. "I can’t sleep without Daddy… Is he sending us back to the orphanage?"Her chest tightened. Ashton and Asher had been through so much, and even now, after finding a family, his fear of being abandoned hadn’t gone away. The instability of his life had left deep scars, and now, with his mother missing and everything changing again, he was scared.Without a second thought, Adeline pulled him into a warm hug, holding him close. "No, sweetheart. No one is sending you back. You have Mom and Dad, and they love you so much. And Aunt Addy and Uncle Austin? We love you, too. You are never going to be witho

"What happened here?" Ronan and Adeline rushed in but looked tense as they saw the two other men with tensed expressions. "Regina woke up," Abel answered."Really?" Ronan's breath hitched as he stepped forward to enter her room and meet his bestfriend. The moment Ronan saw Regina sitting up in bed, his vision blurred with tears. She was awake. Alive. Looking around in confusion as if nothing had happened. The past few months had been a nightmare as she had suffered so much, more than anyone should endure. And still, here she was, sitting before him like it was just another day.Without thinking, he rushed to her side and pulled her into a tight hug."Ronan," Regina muttered, startled by his reaction. He felt her stiffen in his embrace, and when he pulled back, her brows furrowed as she asked, "Why are you acting like I died and came back?"Her words sent a chill down his spine. She truly had no idea."You gave us the scare of a lifetime," Ronan admitted, his voice filled with emoti

I am not sending my children somewhere else so I can play house with your wife!"Abel looked at him with an exasperated expression. "Then what was I supposed to do? Tell her the truth? That she is actually married to me?"Damien gritted his teeth, trying to suppress the urge to throttle Abel. "You could have said literally anything other than ‘Damien is your fiancé!’"Abel sighed, rubbing his temples. "Look, we need to take this one step at a time. Her mind is fragile right now. "Regina!"Abel’s voice cracked as he rushed to his wife, wrapping his arms around her the moment her eyes fluttered open. He had dreamed of this moment. Heck, even prayed for it, but now that she was finally awake, the reality felt almost too cruel to bear. For weeks, he had watched over her lifeless form, hoping against hope. And in those weeks, everything had fallen apart. Too many things had gone wrong. Too much had changed. But as he held her, Regina stiffened. Her hands pushed against his chest, her brows furrowing in confusion."What's wrong with you?" she demanded, looking at him like an outsider. Her voice carried no warmth, only suspicion. "Why are you hugging me like this?"Abel pulled back while searching her face, but all he found was cold detachment and the same distant, disdainful expression she had once reserved for him."Why are you looking at me like that?" he whispered, his heart pounding.Regina ignored his question, her gaze shifting around the hospital room, takin

Anna’s voice dropped to a whisper. "Something is missing. Something I don’t know yet. A piece that doesn’t fit. Regina worshipped her mother, and yet, suddenly, she named me as the guardian of her children in case of her and her husband’s death. Why? She hated me to me death." Her eyes narrowed. "There is something deeper at play, and I need you to find out what it is."Damien nodded. "I will get on it."Anna took a deep breath before revealing the most critical information. "And there is something even more important. The drug that Claire injected Regina with, I managed to steal a sample of her blood and sent it to a lab for testing."Damien’s grip tightened on her arms. "And?""The results came back. The drug has severe side effects. If Regina wakes up, there is a high chance she will suffer from amnesia. The extent of it is unpredictable, as she might lose all her memories or have selective amnesia. It depends on how her body reacts to it."Damien added. "Her pregnancy already weak
