Chapter 31

Brooklyn-

Just as I pulled the lasagna out of the oven, I heard a knock on the door. I figured it was probably Eric. Placing the pan on the oven, I was just about to answer the door, but thought better of it. If I continue doing what I am doing, I can keep myself preoccupied enough to not let my nerves get the better of me, hopefully.

“Come in.” I hollered, just loud enough so he would be able to hear me.

As I had suspected, Eric comes right on in. He stops just shy of entering the kitchen and inhales deeply. Moving the pan from the oven, to set it on the island, I grabbed a knife and spatula from the drawer. It was better to face him, rather than have my back turned towards him.

“That smells delicious. I could come back later if I came at the wrong time.”

“No, it is fine, come on in. I have plenty if you are hungry.”

“A woman after my heart.” He laughed, coming to sit on the stool across from
