After we talked to Dr. Jerold, we took care of Chase's laboratory tests. It's okay that no DNA will happen because I trust my husband completely. "No, I want to brag about being sure I love you and our family."

I smiled at Maximus and nodded. After taking blood and whatever else was needed to check Chase's condition, we left the hospital. I thought we were going home, but not yet.

"It's almost dinner time, so let's eat first," he said as we got into the car. "What do you want to eat?" he asked me before turning to Chase, "How about you, my boy? What do you want to have for dinner?"

Even though my son is a special child, he can still talk to anyone; it's just that he can't make eye contact directly with anyone he talks to.

"A-any-thing m-momm l-likes," he replied, smiling. Maximus was carrying him, and I'm sure that the feeling was new to him, but I'm glad that he didn't see his abusive father as the man holding him.
