Chapter six

As the goddesses disappear, Jolene‘s body starts to float to the ground. Theo catches her and she lands gently in his arms. He carries her smoothly over to Rora and Luna. He and Luna and Luna smiles at him softly. She motions for him to follow her and to place her back in the seat.

Rora tells him, “You can ride with me.”

He disagrees, “My job is to protect Jolene. I will be riding with Jolene.”

Luna appreciates him but explains, “There is no room for you in the car.”

He argues, “Then I will drive.”

Luna laughs, “have you ever driven before?”

He surprises her, “I have, I have driven the moon goddess around a few times when she just needed some fresh air and wanted to enjoy the earth.”

He snatches the keys from her hands, and then climbs in next to Jolene. Rora and Luna share worried looks, but they know that they aren’t going to win this one. The climb into the van bickering among each other.

*A few hours later*

Jolene wakes up and is shocked and confused by the handsome Stranger sitting next to her. She looks around and she notices that Rora and Luna are driving behind them. She can see they’re not panicking, so she just takes a deep breath and turns her upper body towards the man.

She tries to be stern but polite, “I’m Sorry sir who are you?”

He Chuckles, “You see a strange man next to you that you don’t know and you choose to call him, sir?”

She points behind them, “I can see my aunties are driving behind us and they don’t look like they’re worried, so why should I be?”

He seems pleased, “Observant, I like that. Sometimes it’s good to get more information before you freak out.”

Shad but then repeats herself, “Who are you?”

He smirks at her, “I am Theo. I am the one that the moon goddess has bestowed upon queen Luna to train you.”

Jolene is shocked, “You know that Luna was a queen? She told me that no one has to know that I’m not supposed to repeat it?”

He rolls his eyes at her, “Did you not catch the part when I said that the moon guy sent me? The moon goddess knows everything, so why wouldn’t I know that she used to be the queen to be honest between you and me the moon goddess and I still consider her the queen.”

Jolene smiles and changes the subject, “So how are you gonna teach me to fight?”

He has had a painful sigh, “I’m going to have to fight myself.”

She turns her head to look in his direction, and she takes a second to really take him in. She starts to feel worried. He’s got to be the biggest man that she has ever seen. His forearms are the size of her head.

He laughs, “I can see you’re scared by the look in your eye, but I can reassure you that I will take it easy on you. By the time I’m done with you, you’ll be able to take me down.”

She smiles, but then everything around her starts to fade and finds herself somehow trapped in her mind.

Her wolf tells her, “I like him.”

She laughs, “He's scary!”

her wolf surprises her, “Scary is safe.”

She laughs, “ What about your mate?”

Her wolf comes back, “I hope it’s him!”

She has snapped out of her thoughts, by Theo lightly shaking her, “Earth to Jolene!”

Jolene blinks her eyes as she stares at him.

He gives her a knowing look, “I know that. You’re having a private conversation with your wolf?”

Jolene nods, “It’s then happening ever since she showed herself to me.”

He smiles, “I understand my inner wolf has been my best friend ever since we met”

They both laugh.

His smile falters and his tone gets serious, “ Why are you running from your father?”

Jolene tries to explain in the best way that she can, “I don’t know much, but I’ll tell you what I know. My mother and father were in love. They both thought that she was his soulmate. When the full moon came out and she found her wolf, my father was nowhere to be found, and when she did find him, she found him in the arms of his roommate. She was angry and ran off. He chased after her and out of Burien anger of her, refusing to be his second wife lashed out, and then I was conceived…”

Jolene goes silent for a moment before continuing, “My mother escaped. He’s been searching for her ever since. When I was born, she didn’t survive. Rora and Lucy got an enchantment put on me, but when my transformation starts, I won’t be able to hide.”

He places a gentle hand on her hand. For a moment all of her problems fade away. Jolene's wolf hollars with excitement, but is sad when he pulls away. She's confused when his expression changes and he looks angry.

Awkward silence causes her to panic, “will you ever be able to find your mate?”

He growls, “That’s none of your business.”

She is confused, “Did I do something wrong?”

He lashes back, “I just think that we should focus on you. Hoping you are what's going to get me back on earth. I have been in trouble for centuries because I fell in love with the wrong woman.”

Jolene doesn’t know what to say. She’s relieved when she notices that her aunts are pulling over. She gets excited when she sees it there at a restaurant because she is starting to feel hungry once the car is put into park, she climbs out.

She quickly makes her way over to Luna and starts to gossip with her.

Rora waits for Theo, “Are you hungry?”

She gives him a curious look, “Do you even eat?”

He can help it to laugh at her, “Yes, I eat I’m not a robot!”

She laughs, “I know that the goddesses don’t eat and since you’ve been living up there with her for so long I wasn’t sure if the same goes for you?”

He gives her an appreciative smile, “Thank you. I’m not used to people asking me personal questions and actually an answer.”

Rora smiles and then pulls him by his arm to go and eat.
