Cassandra's POV

The room is deathly silent, not that there are plenty occupants anyways. Just Jack and the doctor are here, including Gina who just ran in like a freight train. More people come in but I don't mind the number. My vision goes fuzzy as I walk towards the white sheet is. Jack's eyes are red and his face looks like he scrubbed at it for the past twenty minutes. It looks weird how he's so unsmiling.

He glances at me then takes another look at me. It obvious to see that he's suprised to see me here. Yes she was cruel to me but she is my mother. Not right now or biologically but she fed me and housed me. Although it was scraps and although it was in the dirty basement, she saved me from freezing to death in the cold , those years.

Fuck, I'm literally alive because of her. I move closer still and pull back the white sheet. She looks oddly peaceful, like she did not make my life hell. I'm grateful that she is though. It would be cruel to wish her unrest in death. I swallow t
