For the first time in a long time, I was speechless. I held her gaze but I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know what to do. The only thing I knew was that I didn’t want our relationship to end.

I didn’t take the risk of chasing after the woman I liked despite her being my student only for us to end over a mere misunderstanding; most likely something that we could have talked out.

“Why?” The word slipped past my lips without much thought, but it was very valid.

“What?”

“Why?” I repeated with more resolve. “If you are going to break up with me, I should at least know the reason.”

Instead of answering, she looked away, staring outside the window. I leaned back on the seat, releasing a harsh breath. When I came here, I was hoping things could go back to normal. I didn’t think they would become worse.
