"You." Was all he said.
"Yeah.... Me." She licked her lips nervously, shifting uncomfortably on her feet.
"I take it you're the new Emergency nurse." He said coldly, his eyes unreadable.
The manager looked between the both of them, bewildered. "You know her, boss?"
"Oh I know her. I know her very well." He drawled in an accent.
Yap, I'm fired before I got hired. I'm really going back to the convent, Christiana mused in her mind in defeat.
Alexandro would have been amused at Christiana's reaction if he wasn't so surprised himself. She was the Emergency nurse?
His eyes took her in, in a new way. Well, one thing was certain. She ain't going around with those beads and a white scarf that hides her hair and covers her forehead. It was also starting to make sense the way she took so much offense about his snarky comment this morning.
Because Hot and sexy here grew up in a convent. This will be very interesting.
Philip, the manager seemed to notice the tension that filled the room. "Errm.....I'll take my leave now, sir."
"No problem, Philip. I'll call you when I need you." He dismissed Philip without taking his eyes of her.
Philip walked out of the room. Alexandro took three steps to the door and turned the lock. Then, he whirled around and gave her a tight smile, while doing his best to hide his amusement.
"Look who we have here. It's the woman that slapped me in the morning." He strode further into the room, making her squirm where she was standing.
"I guess I should be leaving now." Christiana sighed, her spirit down. The world is being so mean to her already, and she hasn't stayed up to one week yet.
The one living being she has ever laid her hands on—in anger—happens to be her boss. Really mean to her.
"Hmm, any particular reason you should guess that?" he drawled, his mouth twitching upwards.
Rude and Arrogant here is finding this very funny. Too bad, She doesn't share the sentiment. He was intentionally making her uncomfortable, making her more nervous.
Oh God! How can this be happening to me! Christiana thought miserably.
"What happened this morning wasn't my fault, sir. You were the one that made the rude remark about me." Chins lifted, she refused to cower. After all, she'll be going back to her home anyway.
Eyes arched to his hairline. He moved away from the door. Silent footsteps met the tiles floors softly. He moved like a panther, she couldn't help thinking as she watched nervously. She'd seen one at the zoo they'd visited one-day for a school project.
His cologne enveloped her when he got really close to her, she began taking steps back until her back but the wall. He trapped her there.
"You slapped me, Christiana." He spoke gently, his breath fanning her cheeks.
Christiana should have known that karma was a bad woman. The first day she impulsively raised her hand on someone was the day she raised her hand on a very wrong person.
"I'm so sorry about that, sir. I never meant to do that, I was just so angry. I know you're gonna fire me because of that and--"
He cut her off, "Did you now..." he'd drawn his face very closed to hers, speaking almost directly to her mouth.
"Errm...wh what are you doing, sir?" she stammered out. A blush had crept into her cheeks.
Alexandro looked at the woman he had trapped to the wall. Her eyes wide, blushing furiously, he had the sudden urge to kiss that sexy small lip she took in between her teeth unintentionally. She was very beautiful.....and innocent.
The last part was like a dose of cold water to him, he doesn't do innocents. Ever. Not to mention that she was his tenant, and about to become his employee also.
He straightened away from her, she breathed a sign of relief. "Come and take your seat, Miss Christiana. Let's get started."
His voice had turned formal, making Christiana wonder if minutes ago was an illusion or did it exactly happen. "You mean, you're gonna interview me?" Had to ask that, a girl can never be too sure. Christiana thought.
"Yap. Let's see what you've got, that's what will determine if you're getting fired or hired. Not this morning." He smiled cynically.
Christiana felt so happy she was overjoyed, she smiled radiantly, "Okay, sir." She took her seat.

An hour later, Alexandro pressed the intercom. "Yes, sir?" Philip answered.
"Come to my office, please."
Seconds later, Philip entered the office, "I want you to accompany Miss Christiana Lewis to see the kids, she's our new Emergency nurse."
Philip turned to the woman smiling beside him, "Congrats, ma'am."
"Thanks Philip." She beamed at the gentleman.
Alexandro didn't like the way she was smiling at Philip one bit, he glared at the manager. "Take her to the children, I have to get to the office before the investors comes." He said through gritted teeth, he turned to Christiana, "I don't want any of those children dying at your watch. Take good care of them."
She seemed to smile the more. "I'll take good care of them, sir. You have nothing to worry about."
For some reason, he loved seeing her smile and he hated that Philip was seeing her smile too. The idiot looked really captivated! Alexandro took his car keys and angrily left the office.
"Is he always like that?" Christiana whispered to Philip after he left and banged the door.
"Like what?" Philp asked.
"Like he's gonna beat someone up any minute?"
"Yea, I heard that's his default setting." Philip answered, making Christiana laugh. She's just so happy, seems like she's gonna live her dream after all.
Three days later, Alexandro was in his house that evening, working in his home office when his best friend, Mark came over. Mark owns the biggest bar in town and a very successful club.
"Hey, man." he said as he flung himself on top of the couch.
"Hey. What have you been up to apart from following the bitches?"
Mark laughed, "I try to live a little. You haven't been coming to the club lately. Lots of those celebrity chicks have been grazing it since the last party."
"They are?" He asked nonchalantly.
"Yap. Come on, let's go have fun. Sitting around in the office all day and coming back home to glue your eyes to the computer, isn't my kind of fun." Mark said as he closed down the computer Alexandro's eyes was glued to.
Alexandro looked at his friend, maybe it was all for the better. "Okay. Let's go."
Duke was happily sleeping in his room, so he just closed the outer door of the main house.
Mark walked out of the gate of TheKings first, then he whistled loudly, "Holy shit! Who's that!?"
Alexandro came out, he saw Christiana walking towards her apartment. "That's my next door neighbor."
"She's gorgeous. You didn't tell me you got a sexy bitch living next door!"
Alexandro didn't like the look on Mark's face. Not one bit. "She's off limits, Mark."
"Huh! Why would....." Mark stopped abruptly when Christiana saw them and waved.
Alexandro just kept on staring at her while Mark waved vigorously as if he couldn't wait for his arm to fall off.
Alexandro grabbed him by the arm "Let's go, pathetic." he drawled.
"Oh! I'm so gonna get acquainted with her, very soon. Can't wait to fuck her really hard, it's gonna be good. That body is a killer." Mark said excitedly.
Alexandro stopped dead in his track and glared daggers at his best friend. "Don't ever think about it, if you don't want my fist down your throat."
"I thought you hate women." He arched his brows.
"I never said I hated them."
"No, you just love burying your díck inside them."
"She's my employee. That basically means she's off limits, Mark."
"She's your employee not mine, buster." Mark laughed excitedly.
"You won't lay a finger on her at all." Alexandro said so gently but his blue eyes held fire.
Mark stopped laughing and took in his best friend, "Oh my! Someone's getting jealous! Sandro you have a thing for the hot neighbor, don't you?"
"I don't. I just don't want you messing her up, she works for me at the orphanage. I want her head around her when she works with those children, don't want any of them dying again."
Alexandro walked ahead of his friend, "We'll use my car, come get in, let's go."
Mark walked behind him, all the while he was thinking. Alexandro has the hots for the pretty neighbor, Mark almost laughed aloud as he entered the car.
Things are about to get very interesting, Mark thought.
Christiana entered her house quietly after her angry neighbor left with another heavily muscled guy with tattoos around his arms, the guy seemed friendly though as he waved right back at her.The unfriendly one among them was Alexandro, her boss. After that day she found out that he was her boss at the office, she'd never seen him again and she was ever grateful. She didn't know what will happen when they saw each other again, so, she'd been avoiding him.Christiana walked into the kitchen, checked her cupboard. She settled for cooking noodles, Tomorrow is a Sunday, she'll cook fried rice then. She was making the noodles when she heard the noise coming from the door, as if someone was trying to open the door, waves of fear washed over her.Who would be trying to open a closed door without knocking?.She made the sign of the cross in agitation, walked to the d
Eyes wide open in the middle of the night, Ludo was horrified with whatever bad dream she was having. She tried to move her head but to no avail. She could only move her eyes. She could see most of the things in her room but couldn’t reach for them. She usually slept with her bedroom door open. She tried to scream but her voice failed her. The more she tried to move, the difficult it became. She felt a presence in the room and became even more afraid. Her eyes shifted to the door in hopes of seeing her mother coming to her aid. She saw an ominous shadow at the door peeping. In seconds, she felt a weight pressed against her body that she failed to breathe. Her body was paralyzed and there was no way to fight the paralysis.“Ludo!” Her mother shouted entering the bedroom.Ludo saw her mother sitting beside her but she still couldn’t move
You see what you have done Joe?” Ludo’s mother asked her husband.“How could I have known Zamiwe?” Joe touched his head. “It was going great, I don’t know what happened.”“She told you she didn’t want to go but with your arrogance, you had to make her go.”“Is it a crime to go out with my daugther Zamiwe?” Joe’s eye brows bumped together in a scowl.Zamiwe knew better not to irritate her husband. She knew he had the same rights as her when it came to Ludo. Despite their differences, Ludo was for the both of them. They were just both overprotective of her.“I didn’t it mean it that way Joe,” Zamiwe answered thoughtful.“I know she’s sick and I care for her. Don’t make me look like a bad parent please!” Joe sunk in his chair.
Hunter checked his time.11:24.His flight was at 14:00 hours. He had prepared everything and had packed all his gear. Leaving the country was not on his wishlist but there was nothing he could have done, that was his only way to stay alive. He didn’t expect Hilary to betray him like that. Trust, for him, was a big word but he relied on her. He knew she could deliver but along the way, love happened to her. It was the same love that got her killed. Hunter didn’t have any regrets on Hilary’s murder. Killing had become a hobby for him.His phone rang.He looked at it feeling his heart pound. He answered and remained quiet.“Hunter!” A man’s voice answered on the other end of the line.Hunter didn’t say anything.“I can feel you breathing and from the looks for it, you are scared Hunter,”
“You must be joking,” Kate looked at Kent and bursted into laughter.“I’m serious Kate. The man was serious,” Kent said seriously.“That’s just bullshit! He was just trying to scare you!” She objected him. “Where could Ludo have gotten all the information from to write a story about the most notorious crime lords of our country?”“You have to ask her,” Kent shrugged.“He was just scaring you.”She repeated.“I could feel it in my heart that he wasn’t.”“How come I haven’t heard about these people?”“You are not in their circles that’s why.”“Are you?”Kent nodded.“If they are that notorious, we could have read about them so
Zamiwe walked into the living room throwing her hand bag on the floor and herself on the couch. She put her legs on the table as she exhaled heavily.“What a day!” She sighed. “Ludo!” She called. She was very tired that she dosed off within minutes of sitting down.“Anybody home?” Joe asked as he entered the living room.He was equally tired from his trip. He saw Zamiwe sleeping on the couch and memories flashed back. He remembered how good they were together before Ludo’s sickness kicked in. They were a small happy family. He walked to her and sat beside her. He looked at her and smiled. Her face was covered with her hair. He moved the hair to the side. He was looking at her face clearly now. She was still as beautiful as ever. If only she could have been this beautiful even when she was awake, perhaps they could hav
Erica sat in her range rover waiting for her fiancé, Jean. She saw him coming from a distance with a woman talking and laughing. She grabbed her cigarette. She looked for a lighter but couldn’t find one in the car. Jean and the woman separated and Jean went to Erica’s car. As soon as he got into the car, she started shouting at him. Jean was used to Erica’s tantrums that he would just watch her blubber till she got tired.“Are you done Erica?” Jean asked her.“Who is that whore?” She eyed him.“A workmate,” he responded looking away.“Hhhhmmm. You also said the same about the last one till I found out you were shagging her,” she said.“How many people do you whore around with in the name of family business?”“You wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t doing that. Don&
Ludo entered a room. From a distance, she saw a round table. A voice called her to sit. She hesitated but another angry voice ordered her to sit down. As she walked to the table, she saw four people seated but couldn’t see their faces. She felt sweat on her forehead but couldn’t wipe it, her hands were suddenly tied. She looked at the figures in front of her but the moment she sat down, she stopped hearing their voices but could only see their heads move. There was a blood stained knife on the table. She felt something move behind her. She wanted to shout but couldn’t. One of the figures in front of her stood up and started walking to her. She felt something hairy on her shoulder. Her body was filled with goosebumps. She slowly moved her head to check it out and it was a tail. The figure coming towards her and picked the knife from the table. She heard a silent roar and knew there was an animal behind her; not just any animal but a vicious one. The animal lurked be

A week and some days had passed since Ludo had communicated with Hunter. She had left him several voicemails but he didn’t call her back. She wanted to let him know about the progress she was making. She had become closer with Evan and he had started opening up to her about his family matters. The only worry she had was Erica and Ethan. Erica made it known that she was not a fan of her, and Ethan was mysterious as usual. Elise on the other hand had gotten busy taking care of the company and was hardly seen. Ludo even started taking care of Mr. Hamuumbu whenever she went to the house. On most occasions, with Elise's busy schedule, Mr. Hamuumbu was left alone. Elise didn’t like the idea of hiring anyone to take care of him, she preferred to do it alone but didn’t mind Ludo taking care of him.“Why are you smiling all by yourself?” Zamiwe asked Ludo while they were watching a movie.&nbs
Evan turned his head whilst on the floor and saw Hunter and Ludo. On the far left was Ludo’s mother tied up in a chair.“What are you doing here?” Evan aggressively stood up.Hunter stopped him. “I didn’t come here for you,” He said.“You killed my brother,” Evan said angrily.“Oh I see you have been told,” Hunter looked down on Ludo. “Unfortunate how lies spread.”“It’s not a lie, you are the only person I know capable of doing that, you killed Hilary too,” Evan yelled.“Her doing, not mine,” Hunter said.Evan stepped forward.“Don’t you dare,” Hunter furiously looked at him.Evan clenched his fists.Hunter noticed and said, “Constrain yourself otherwi
“What did you just do?” Hunter asked coming out of the flowers. “You killed your son!” he walked past Ethan’s body.“Hunter!” Ludo called to him.“Join us Hunter,” Mr. Hamuumbu pointed the gun at him.“Aren’t you supposed to be dead, Hunter?” Ludo asked with her breath quickening.Hunter walked to where Ludo was and stood looking at Mr. Hamuumbu with disgust written all over his face. He didn’t utter a word to Ludo nor look at her.“You never give up, do you?” Mr. Hamuumbu looked at Hunter. “I also thought you were dead. Ethan and his mother celebrated your alleged death.”“To kill me, you have to behead me, that’s when you can only be sure.” Hunter said angrily.“But those policemen found your body in the backyard
After Kate had successfully escaped from TRIPLE E group of companies, she went to the hospital and found Zamiwe tending to her husband. Looking at Kent laying unconsciously on the hospital bed ignited her anger again. She wanted to do something about what happened to him but thinking about the power and influence of the people she suspected, she couldn’t do anything on her own.“Hello Kate, we were worried about you,” Zamiwe said when she noticed Kate's presence. “Ludo came to your house twice and she didn’t find you. Is everything fine?”“Everything is fine, thank you. I had to go to school to apply for a leave,” Kate answered. “I have seen that I can’t manage working while my husband is here. I have to be here too.”Zamiwe was quiet. She felt for Kate. She even pitied her. She had thought she had bigger problems with her husband leaving her but Kate had
Hunter knew all too well that every decision comes with its consequences. He made a deal with the Patels' to get rid of Ludo but he didn’t hold his end of the bargain. Despite this, Hunter was no man to be intimidated by the Patels. As a matter of fact, they were out of the picture for him because he had finally got what he sought after; the manuscript. As soon as he got home, he printed the whole manuscript out, took it with him into his carnage backyard and treated himself to some reading. He never remembered when he had read like that but he was determined to finish reading the whole story that very day.Dawn came. Hunter had just finished reading. His eyes were even more darker than ever. He threw the manuscript on the floor disappointedly. Apparently, he didn't find what he was looking
Kate was by her husband’s bedside. She had cried enough and was already feeling weak. She was glad he was still alive but not knowing when he would wake up broke her heart. She didn’t have much sleep, neither did she eat anything. Zamiwe came into the room and told her that there was a policeman looking for her. She declined saying she couldn’t talk to him or anyone else seeking information at the moment.“I told you everything. Just tell him what I said. There is nothing more,” Kate said exhausted.“Are you sure?” Zamiwe asked.“Yes.”“Ok.”“Thanks Zamiwe.”Kate knew Kent’s attack was no ordinary attack. Ever since he got Ludo’s manuscript, things had changed in their lives. Even though Kent didn’t tell her much, she noticed how nervous he had been. She was determ
“How long will he be in the coma?” Kate asked the doctor.“It depends on his progress and the nature of the injury. In your husband’s case, there is a swelling in his brain. If the swelling recedes, we will try to lighten up the coma to see if he can come back and see what his level of function is,” the doctor responded.“But according to your experience doc, how long can this take?”“It can be a day, a week or months. Let’s just have faith.”Kate despaired.“Don’t worry too much. We are doing our best,” the doctor said and excused himself.Kate went to where Ludo and her parents had sat. She told them everything the doctor had told her. Joe was optimistic that Kent would wake up in no time. Ludo was quiet and lost in her thoughts.“Young lady escort me ou
