At first, I didn't know what had awoken me. I was groggy and didn't recognize the buzzing noise, having only heard it one time before when my mom came to visit. I shook Daniel.

"Babe, what is that noise?" I asked, my voice hoarse from sleep.

He rolled over. "Shit. Someone is at the downstairs door trying to buzz in."

He picked up his phone and opened an application. It brought up a live video feed of the outside rear entrance.

"Damn," he said. "It's Lenore."

The gift that keeps on giving.

"If you let her in this time, I'm leaving, and I won't be letting you punish me for it." I wasn't joking and he knew it.

"Let me go downstairs and find out how bad it is. If I have to, I'll call the police to come get her." he said in a resigned voice.

"Leave your phone with me. I want to see the action." I trusted him. It was Lenore I didn't trust.

"Yeah, okay but let me have yours, so I can call the cops if needed." I grabbed mine off the nightstand and handed it to him.
