I know from the moment he asked me to leave and go get the coffee from the safe, something bad was about to unfold. My manager taught me about the safe room; that if there was something bad to happen we needed to rush to his office and press the red button and the titanium doors would keep us safe until one of the company's security men came to open it for us. A security measure that I didn’t think was necessary for a coffee shop.
I tried calling my manager but then I realized that my phone died because I forgot to charge it. Of all the times to forget to charge it, it just had to be today. I cursed myself silently for my forgetfulness. I tried the phone on my manager's desk but there was no dial tone. I was tempted to press the red button but I know that I am not heartless to just leave the owner of the shop and his driver alone. I berate myself one last time as I know that I will regret the decision I am going to make right now. As I quietly sneaked out to see what was happening outside.
I hid in the dark as I watched the owner, Mr. Drake, whose name I just found out, is still talking to Archer. I can’t hear what they are talking about but from the look on Mr. Drake’s face, I know that whatever it is that they are talking about might not be going well.
Just then the back door opened and additional men, which I am guessing are Archer’s, filled the cafe. I saw Mr. Drake’s driver walking in front of him, shielding Mr. Drake not only from my view but I am guessing he is also trying to protect him from Archer’s men.
Four of his men held Mr. Drake’s driver and two of his men pulled Mr. Drake’s wheelchair, bringing him in front of Archer. He looked so small in front of Archer, but even so, I never sensed even a small amount of fear in him.
Archer took the first blow, which Mr. Drake dodged and countered with a punch that hit Archer’s left cheek. Archer tried to throw another punch and Mr. Drake moved his wheelchair making Archer fall to the floor. I almost laughed out loud as I imagined the look on Archer’s face. I was amazed at Mr. Drake, what else can this man do? Just then I saw one of Archer’s men holding Mr. Drake’s wheelchair still. Archer then threw another punch and Mr. Drake tried to shield his face. Two of Archer’s men held Mr. Drake’s arms making him powerless. Archer started throwing punches one after another.
I know I need to do something. I can’t stand here and do nothing. Just then I saw Archer whisper something to Mr. Drake and then he took out something shiny. I already know what it is judging by its shape.
I used to hold different types of it. My mother and father taught me how to use it. I remember them saying how a knife can be your friend and enemy.
I saw Archer raise the knife and strike it on Mr. Drake’s knees. I had to look away as I heard Mr. Drake shout in pain.
Anger rose in my chest as I felt how unfair the situation was for Mr. Drake. Something is telling me that he is not the bad guy in this story. And I can’t just stay still and watch him suffer. I removed the heels that I was wearing and walked toward the stockroom.
I took out all the knives that we have as quietly as I could. Tied some on my legs and the rest I placed in one of the aprons.
As I returned to my hiding place I saw Archer as he walked toward Mr. Drake, knife in his hand aiming for his chest.
I took one look at Mr. Drake and I hated the look he now has on his face. I know that look, I’ve seen that look. It’s the same look my parents had when a group of men came to our house and killed them. I was only a young kid then, I felt scared and helpless. But I am not the same girl that I was before. This time I will save someone, I will save Mr. Drake.
Archer was about to strike Mr. Drake. I held one knife from the apron, closed my eyes, and remembered my parents and my aunt’s training.
“Hold it like how you would hold a paper airplane,” my father said with a smile.
“Then think about where you want it to go and let it fly.”
And just like that, I let the knife in my hand fly. It hit Archer on the back. I did not stop there as I let more knives fly in the air and hit Archer’s men one by one. After seeing them fall I ran toward Mr. Drake to make sure he was ok.
As I looked into his eyes he was angrier than happy to see me. Which made me angry because I just saved him.
“You are a pest you know,” a voice behind me said. Chills ran down my spine, surprised to find that he was still alive.
I turned just in time to see him try to strike the knife on my back. I caught it with my left hand slicing me. I struck him with the knife in my right hand and he jumped back.
“Leave her alone Archer,” Mr. Drake shouted.
“I already gave her a chance to run away, Drake,” he snickered.
“I now get why you like her, she’s feisty,” he added.
Mr. Drake tries to pull me behind him, but I wouldn’t allow him. I see Mr. Drake’s driver fighting several of Archer’s men. I just need to keep Archer away from Mr. Drake until help arrives.
Help is coming! Help is coming! Help is coming!
I keep repeating to myself even though I am not sure if there is help coming.
“Athena stay behind me,” Mr. Drake ordered.
“No!” I replied.
Archer laughed.
“What is this Drake?” He asked, laughing.
“You can’t get your woman to follow you?” He added.
Archer looked at me and smiled.
“After I am done with Drake, I will take you home,” he said to me.
“You deserve a man who can tame your wildcat.” He added with a laugh.
“Athena!” Mr. Drake growled. “Get behind me!”
The sound of his voice took me by surprise. I turned and looked at him and saw a panicked look in his hazel eyes followed by the excruciating pain on my side as I felt the sharpness of the knife hit my skin.
I closed my eyes as I will myself one last fight I turned to face Archer and took the knife tied to my leg as I jumped at him and sank my knife into his left eye and twisted it.
He pushed me away from him, it was so hard that I hit the wall. I saw Mr. Drake rush over me but my eyes never left Archer until he fell. Mr. Drake held my face between his hands looking at me worriedly.
“Your safe sir,” I whispered.
The world around me is becoming hazy and blurry. I can hear the shouts but I can’t understand what they are saying. I saw someone running toward Mr. Drake and my body automatically went on alert. I reached for the last knife on my ankle and threw it with all my might.
The man shouted, “Fuck!” as my knife went straight to his knee.
Mr. Drake looked at the man and then back at me and gave me a tired smile. He fell from his wheelchair and moved closer to me. He then wraps me in his arms, which feels so warm.
“It’s safe now,” I heard him whisper.
"Help is here," He said as he stroked my hair slowly.
“Stay with me Athena,” he pleaded.
I want to tell him that I want to. I want to tell him that he needs to pay me five times more. But my eyes felt heavy and I let the darkness envelop me.
She saved me. I wanted to hold her more. I wanted to feel her heart beating. But I know that to save her I have to let her go, for now. I am so angry at myself, so angry at how useless I am. Parker was also in surgery for all the beatings he took from Archer’s men. “Drake,” Leon said as he shook me, taking me away from my thoughts. “What?’ I retorted. “Sorry,” I said apologetically. I know that none of this was his fault. It was mine. I wipe my face with my hand in frustration. “I’m sorry,” Leon said softly. I was glad that they arrived the moment that they did. Because if they didn’t, I don’t know what would have become of us. Unfortunately, Archer and some of his men had escaped. But that's the least of my worries for now. I am worried for the person who saved my life even when she had the chance to save her own. I turned and looked at him. “It’s not your fault,” I said. “It was mine, for being useless,” I added. “You know that’s not true,” He said. I wanted to beli
I could hear voices but the words were not clear. By the different tones that I am hearing, I know that it does not belong to only one person. I tried to open my eyes but ended up being blinded by the sunlight streaming through the window. I moved my right arm trying to shield my eyes from the sun’s glare, but the sudden movement made my whole body scream in pain, making my whole body freeze as my arm fell to my side. The room became quiet and I heard curtains being pulled and then I felt the comfort that its shade brought. I tried to open my eyes again to see who closed the curtains. But even with the shade, I didn’t realize how opening my eyes was such a struggle. I tried to open my eyes again and I had to blink several times because I couldn’t believe my eyes. There stood at the foot of my bed, three hands
I was just in the bathroom for a few minutes when I heard loud shouts and glasses breaking. When I went out I was surprised to see Athena holding Nori, who by the way was enjoying every bit of it, even with a broken glass pointed at his throat. It surprises me how she got the strength to do all that after all the wounds that her body took. I could’ve healed her if only Levi was here. Nori offered but I don’t want anyone’s wolf touching her. I’m sorry Athena, you could have healed already but I just can’t bear anyone else touching you, especially one of my friends. “She’s feisty,” Nori said with a big smile on his face as he looked at her. “I like her,” he added. “You like her?” Leon asked in disbelief. “Have you already forgotten that just a few minutes ago, sh
I opened my eyes and found myself in an expensive room and found my manager talking to a doctor. After seeing me awake, my manager said goodbye to the doctor and walked toward me. “How are you feeling?” he asked me filled with concern. “Tired,” I admitted. “What happened?” I asked. “I shouldn’t have told you to stay late,” my manager said apologetically. “The shop was robbed and you were attacked by the robber.” I was speechless, I know that I am not that irresponsible to leave the door unlocked. I tried to remember exactly what had happened but everything was a blur. I looked at my hand and saw a cut but not too de
The doctors were surprised at how fast I have healed. I requested to be released from the hospital since I was not seeing any point in staying there. But my manager came and explained that the owner wants me to stay there until the week of rest is up. He said the owner wants to ensure that I get the needed rest and that I am eating right before getting back to work. The week seems to move so slowly but I did get some time to rest and even went to physical therapy to ensure that my body was working perfectly. Once I was given the “fit to work clearance” I was in a hurry to get back to my dorm. My manager wanted to pick me up but I was already out and had called a taxi. Once I was at the dorm, I started to clean up my small room. It’s been a while since I was home and my laundry piled up as well as the
We hit the road by the crack of dawn. I was seated at the back which I didn't mind. I looked out of the window as I watched how darkness fades as the sun rises. I placed my earbuds on and let the music swallow the silence that surrounded me. I didn’t know that I fell asleep until Lisa woke me up when we reached our destination. Lately, I find myself feeling sleepy most of the time. And I noticed that it started after I was hospitalized. It’s like all the energy I had was sucked out of my body. I got out of the car just in time to see Lisa’s aunt rushing to greet us. She had the same olive skin as Lisa’s, while gray hair was tied in a neat bun on her head. She was smiling brightly as she gave each one of us a hug. “You girls must be hungry,” her aunt Connie said. “Let’s get inside and
I stood there unable to move and in shock with what I just witnessed. I tried and tried to understand to find an answer to my question, ‘How can a human become a wolf?’ But ended up with more and more questions than answers. One of the wolves who were on my side nudged me, making me move. Is this wolf a human too? A question I wanted to ask out loud but couldn’t. The other wolf on my side lowered itself, it was like it was asking me to climb on its back. I looked in the wolf’s eyes, unable to move. That’s when I felt someone pull me and help me climb the back of the wolf. I looked up at the person who pulled me and found Katie. Katie smiles a lot but this time she isn’t. Her face wa
I thought that we were to stay in the living room but Katie said that we would wait for the others inside Drake’s office. I asked if I could stay in the living room but they did not allow me to. They said that Drake’s office, aside from his room, is the safest place in the mansion. While waiting for others, I avoided looking in Drake’s direction. I know where he was seated and I also know that the goddess earlier was seated beside him. He tried calling my name to get my attention but I pretended not to hear. I also pretended to have fallen asleep to avoid him trying to call for me once again. It took several minutes for other people to join us. When I opened my eyes I saw Leon and Lisa enter the room. Suddenly everything became so noisy as each one of them spoke all at the same time. All of them wanted to be heard but no one seemed to want to listen.&nb
Hi, Purplelites! It’s been a while since the last time I left you a message. For those who are new, I welcome you with a warm heart. By the way, I have already started with the third and last book called Saving My Alpha. I hope that this book will answer all the unanswered questions that you have. Saving My Alpha is the continuation of both Claiming My Alpha and Redeeming My Alpha and more. The timeline takes place before Anya turns 18 and is about to shift with her wolf. I know that you miss Little Mikey and Baby Anya and Mikey’s cute claim that Anya would be his Luna. And are all curious if they would really be Fated Mates? All of that will be addressed in Saving My Alpha. Not only that but new characters will be revealed and some old ones will also make a reappearance. And that’s not all, the final battle between good and evil will finally be set. Will they finally get the peace that they have all been fighting for? And at what cost? Once again, thank you all for your const
Hi, Purplelites! It’s been a while since the last time we had a talk. And for those who are new to Claiming My Alpha, I welcome you with a warm heart. By the way, I have already started the second book which is entitled Redeeming My Alpha, I know that some might be a bit disappointed with the way things have ended with Claiming My Alpha, but let me just tell you that the fight is not over yet. Just to give you a brief insight about Redeeming My Alpha, it’s a bit of a slow-burn kind of story. But it will give you a deeper knowledge as to what has happened to Purple Hill before the timeline in Claiming my Alpha and continue to the current timeline. It will tell the story of Dana, Lana, Nori, and Seth, before and after the first attack on Purple Hill. A story about family, friendship, sisterhood, love, secrets, and the looming threat that seems to not only affect Purple Hill but all the Packs in the region comes to threaten the peace and lives of people who live there. As they finally
“I didn’t find her,” the weakling explains frantically as he kneels before us, “But you are right they have a mage with them but it was not Drake’s mate.” “Interesting,” Ares replied. I looked at my love and couldn’t help myself smile. He was everything that I asked for. Everything that I needed. And I wouldn’t let anyone harm him, especially that powerful Luna I keep hearing. No one is more powerful than my Mate Ares. And no one will be more powerful than I am. We are the indestructible couple, and we have proven that time and time again. That’s why people feared us. They would all fall on their knees as they beg for mercy asking us to save their lives. “So there is another mage lurking in Purple Hill,” Ares said with a smile. I know that smile, that’s the smile he has when he’s interested in something. Even if he doesn’t say it, I know that he was disappointed to know that Drake was alive. But it didn’t seem to bother him much before especially after knowing that Drake was actu
What’s my favorite time of the day? Well, if you ask my friends you will hear common answers like recess or lunch break. But then again I am not your ordinary girl, I am the daughter of the two most powerful and influential people in Purple Hill, the so-called Alpha King, and the Extraordinary Luna. Yep, I am a product of the most talk-about love story in Purple Hill. It was so beautifully told that it seemed like it came from one of those fairy tale books. Like my parents are characters from a happily ever after book. Well, enough about them. This is my story now. I know that their story has not yet ended and yes, after all those years there is still a threat to our freedom. That is why my parents, especially my father and his most trusted Alpha friends created an elite force that includes one of the most important people in my life. But before I go talking about him non-stop, let me answer the question I was asked earlier. What is my favorite time of the day? What else wou
If the world is perfect there will be no pain. If the world is perfect there will be no tears. If the world is perfect there will be no wars. If the world is perfect then there will be no bad people. If the world is perfect then we won’t lose the people we love. Unfortunately, the world was never built that way. It’s been two years since that dreaded day but it still feels like yesterday. I later found out that we were not the only pack who were attacked that day. Some of my alliance pack lost their Alpha, while some totally lost their pack as a whole. The number of lives that were lost because of the greediness of some is something I have always hated. “Dwaddee, dwaddee,” Anya shouts happily as she runs towards me wearing a cute bathing suit. “Anya, don’t run,” Mikey shouted behind her, “You might fall.” And Anya did fall. I was about to stand up and go to her afraid that she got hurt or that she will cry. But she didn’t. She slowly stood up and started wiping the
Regrets… Always comes in the end… It’s funny how God gave us the power of free will. The greatest power that ever existed. The decision to make a choice. Unfortunately, such power is not easy to use. Because with each decision that we make comes the consequences of such a choice. I stood in at the locked door of the operating room banging the door wanting it to break open. I am here because of the choice I made. A decision made by myself who was under a spell. I know that all of what is happening now was the result of the decision I made. And yes, I have no one else but myself to blame. Did you know that when there’s regret, the what-ifs question comes next? Like, what if I listened to Calvin and have Lana check on me sooner? What if I did not leave the packhouse and just stayed in Little Wolf’s room just like what Athena does when she’s so mad at me? What if, I was not placed under that fucking spell? What if? And I know that no matter how many what if’s I ask, nothing is goin
“Athena!” I smiled or at least I tried, as I recognize who the voice belongs to. “That’s it, baby,” Drake said as he looks down at me. “Keep your eyes open,” I can feel the desperation in his voice. I wanted to reassure him but I don’t want to give him any false hope. I don’t really know what’s gonna happen to me. ‘Leia,’ I called out for my wolf, ‘Can you hear me?’ I called out but there was no reply. I felt so weak but I can’t release the shield I placed on Little Wolf. Not until I know that she can be safe. ‘I’m sorry,’ I said weakly through the mind link with Drake. His eyes grew big and I knew that he heard me so I tried again. ‘I love you.’ ‘I love you too, baby,’ Drake said as he held me a little tighter than before. Then he looks at the person in front of him and shouted, “Why is she not healing? She is my mate for god’s sake! I should have healed her already!” “I am surprised as well Alpha,” A voice of a man answered, “I am just as clueless as you are. I am not sure
I lost… I don’t know what happened or how it happened. But here I am in a fetal position as I protect my tummy because of Little Wolf. Nori was lying lifeless once again just a few feet away from me. He did all that he could to protect me and try to put down Sam on his own. But because of his wounds and the countless rogue wolves that have made it impossible not only for him but for me as well. “Why do you keep resisting?” Sam asked as he stood over me in human form. “I am not resisting anything,” I told him, “You are the one who is insisting on something that doesn’t exist.” ‘I don’t really care if you feel the same way or not,” Sam said arrogantly, “What matters to me is that you are mine.” “I will never be yours, Sam,” I don’t care if I receive more anger from him. Because, I will never, ever tell him something that isn’t true. I will never give him the satisfaction of hearing the words that he wanted to hear. “What is it about that stupid Drake that you love?” Sam asked, “
‘At this rate, we would all die,’ Leia said, as I continue panting. I was out of shape. It’s been months since the last time I had any physical training. ‘Then make sure that we won’t,’ I said to Leia. ‘That’s a quite a demanding request isn’t it?’ Leia responded. ‘Does it seem like you have a choice?’ I asked her as I bit the head off of the wolf in front of me, ‘Remember, if I die, you die.’Death is something that I am not prepared to face right now and I can feel that Leia also feels the same. I still have so many plans and things that I wanted to do. At the same time, I don’t want Little Wolf to grow without me. I am not saying that Aunt Jess did a bad job raising me because that’s just not true. I guess what I was trying to say is there are times and things that I wish I could do or talk about with my mom. “I feel helpless Athena,” Nicolo shouted. I know how he feels but I don’t want him to feel that way. I don’t blame him and I would never let him fight when he is at a disa
