[Leo’s POV]

I sit beside my little songbird, gently rubbing circles with my thumb on the back of her hand. Soft breaths escape her lips as she rests peacefully. Once I’m sure that she is sleeping deeply enough, I release her hand and then head out of the room.

When I reach the elevator, I dial Jackson’s number and then wait until he picks up.

“Meet at the hospital in five,” I announce before he can speak. “Otherwise, I’ll come for you, and you won’t be happy if I do.”

Hanging up, I head down onto the grounds so that I can meet with Jackson.

As I wait, I pull a cigarette from my pocket and light it. Taking a few drags, I watch as Jackson pulls in and then gets out of his car with a stretch.

“Could this not wait until tomorrow?” He yawns.

“No,” I respond immediately. “There’s a pesky fly I need you to get rid of.”

“Fly?” He repeats, seeming to perk up. “Is there another man trying to steal away your songbird?”

“Something like that,” I admit, taking another drag of my cigarette. “He keep

[Leo’s POV]When we arrive at our destination, I pull my songbird out of the car and quickly head straight for the elevator. Once we are inside, I attack, pressing her against the wall while my mouth crushes hers, and beautiful moans start to escape her.Letting my hands trail along her hips, I pull her closer and then continue moving until my palms come to rest on the plains of her ass.“L-L,” she gasps when I pull her against me so she can feel the bulge in my pants. “We could be caught.”“That makes it more exciting,” I growl, beginning to trail kisses down her throat and to her shoulder, where I bite down hard. “Don’t tell me you don’t feel even more aroused just from the thought of someone walking in here to find me attacking you.”"I..." she whimpers, clearly too embarrassed to respond.“You don’t need to speak." I chuckle, letting one of my hands shove into her pants so that I can feel just how fucking wet she is. “Your body is plenty honest, little songbird.”Pulling my hand f

[Thad's POV]“Oi.”Darlene's voice drifts upstairs as I slowly hobble from my room. After my ridiculous attempt at an escape, my arse was killing me along with my ankle. I was pretty sure I sprained it during the fall, but even then, I still needed to get to work.“Why are you moving about like an old bloke?” She continues when I peer over the banister at her.“Because I decided to see if humans could fly.” I respond, making my way downstairs. “Come to find out they can't.”When I reach the bottom floor, I head into the kitchen and pour myself some coffee before going to join Darlene at the table. Plopping down, I bring my steaming mug to my lips and take a sip, then hiss as the hot liquid scorches my tongue.“You also trying to see if humans can handle burning liquids?” Darlene giggles. “Seriously, what has gotten into you?”What has gotten into me? Huh. That was an interesting question, and one I was still asking myself. Pity? Imposter syndrome? I wasn’t sure, but since seeing Briel

  • Claiming Brielle   Feign Ignorance

[Thad’s POV] I pull my jacket closer around me and begin to move, making my way deeper into the city instead of heading home. Together with my stalker, we move, weaving in and out of people and occasionally stopping at the shops to window shop; after all, how could I make things easy on him? I had to admit that it has been a while since I’ve had someone follow me like this, and I wanted to be sure to make the most of it. Only when I’m sure that the poor guy is growing frustrated do I turn and begin to make my way between two large buildings. Pushing my hand in my pocket, I clutch my pocket knife as I turn another corner, leading the way to a deadend where I could strike and figure out who the fuck this guy was working for. When we reach, I whirl around in time to catch the bastard pulling a gun, and before he can even pull the fucking trigger, I’m throwing my weapon, and it is stabbing into his hand. Letting out a string of profanities, my stalker drops his weapon, and as he fumbl

[Brielle’s POV]L: I’ll be home soon; be sure to have on something nice.B: Of course.Grinning, I sit my phone down and look down at the lingerie that I’m wearing. I was sure that this would be enough to get L turned on, and maybe he would finally take me.So far, he still refused to fuck me, but I wasn’t going to just allow this to go on. He wanted me, and I wanted him, so why was he hesitating to go all the way with me?Despite being confident in L’s feelings for me, a small part of me worried it was because he still saw me as that broken girl back then. I was a woman, and I was going to make sure that he saw that.Sighing, I get up, head to my vanity, and take myself in. Despite planning on exerting myself, I still did my makeup, being sure to keep it light so I looked makeupless. Smiling, I put on another round of lip gloss and then toss my hair.“Perfect,” I murmur, getting up as I hear the sound of my door being opened. “You’re here!”Turning, I watch as L, clad in his usual ma

[Brielle’s POV]Blood. There’s so much blood. It stains everything around me, from the floor beneath my feet to my own body.Heart hammering in my chest, I begin to look around, my eyes scanning the familiar walls and furniture of my childhood home.Swallowing, I head for the stairs even though I know what awaits me upstairs, but despite knowing that, I can’t stop myself. My body moves on its own, as it always did when I had this nightmare.“Mom, dad,” I whisper, starting to slowly take the stairs. “Are you here?”Of course, they were here. They were always here, and they were always just as I found them four years prior. When I reach the top of the stairs, the scent of blood reaches me and threatens to make me gag, but I continue to move until I reach their room.Reaching out a shaky hand, I begin to turn the handle of their door until it gives and starts to open until the dark space within can be seen.“Mom?” I whimper, moving toward the bed that sits in the middle of the room. “Dad

  • Claiming Brielle   Locked Up

[Brielle’s POV]For the next few days, I’m free from having to be around L due to him going on a business trip. This gives me time to try to get my feelings together and my head straight. Despite my best efforts at convincing myself that I had to have misheard something, I just can’t make the memory of that conversation go away. They’re like a merry-go-around spinning around again and again, driving me mad until finally I’ve convinced myself that escaping is for the best.By day three, I’m packed and ready to go, but as I reach out and grab the handle of my door, I stop as I realize that even if I were to leave this place, I wouldn’t have anywhere to go. I was so dependent on L and his support that I didn’t have anyone else out there to save me from the situation I was in.Along with this realization, the pain of knowing that I would be alone stabs deep into my heart. Even if L was a monster, he was still the sweet, caring, supportive man that I grew to love, and my heart still very m

  • Claiming Brielle   Her Obedience

[Leo’s POV]I sit alone in my lounge with a glass of whiskey dangling from my hand. Despite my best attempts to make the sounds of my songbird’s pleas leave my mind, they stay there. They’re similar to how my mother sounded back then when my father did the same thing to her.“What the fuck are you doing?” I grumble to myself, taking a swig of my drink. “You’re turning out to be just like him.”No. I wasn’t like him. I wasn’t an abusive bastard who beat a woman when she didn’t do what he wanted. Locking my songbird away was just a minor step to make sure that she didn’t attempt to run away again. After this, nothing like this would happen again. It was just teaching her to obediently stay by my side. Right. That was all this was to teach her obedience, but there was something that was still bothering me.Why did she try to run away? With this question in mind, I look at the grandfather clock that sits against the wall to see that it is already one in the morning. My songbird has been i

Even if he works with the man who killed my parents, do I want to see him die?“Come along, little sonbird,” L says, unlocking the door in front of us and ushering me into the dim room, which smells strongly of mold and something coppery. “Don’t be afraid; I’m with you.”Fighting the urge to run away, I allow myself to be led inside so that my eyes come to rest on a figure resting on a slab. The person’s hands and toes drip from where their fingers and toes have been removed.Feeling sick, I start to realize that the coppery scent that I’m smelling is the scent of fresh blood.“L, I don’t think,” I squeak as he places a hand on the small of my back and leads me forward. “I can’t…”“You can,” L tells me, continuing to move until I’m standing close enough to take in

However, I know better than to fall for her tricks this time. And because of that, I reach down, grabbing her arms and pulling them off of me, then stepping back and wrapping an arm around Brielle. As I do so, Trudy’s gaze drifts to my arm and then back up to my face while a look of questioning crosses it.“Oh,” she gasps, putting on a fake look of shock. “I’m sorry!”“Sure you are.” I say, causing Brielle to give me a look of questioning. “I’m certain that you knew exactly what you were doing.”“Thad,” Brielle says softly, clearly confused about what is happening. “Should I…”“No,” I say much too strongly while tightening my hold on her. “No,” I repeat, trying to calm down. “There’s no reason for you to do that. Let’s go.”“But…” She continues as I start to pull her. “What about…”“Don’t worry about her.”As I speak, Brie

It was frustrating, especially when I knew that Brielle was suffering, but deep down I knew that my sister and her boyfriend’s intentions were pure. However, by the third day of Brielle’s self-isolation, I can’t take it anymore. That’s why I creep around the house that we share, making my way to the window that will allow me into Brielle’s bedroom. When I reach, I chance a peek inside to find Brielle sitting in bed with her knees pulled against her body. [Brielle’s POV]I stare at Thad, my emotions racing as he considers what it is that I’ve just asked of him. Even from my point of view, I can tell that he thinks I’m being a bit too rash, and honestly, deep down in my rational mind and heart, I knew I was, but I was so desperate to forget even for a little bit the pain and sorrow that I was feeling.“Please,” I repeat, reaching out and trying to touch his cheek only to be stopped by his hand. “You won’t?” I ask as he leads my hand back to the bed. “Are you rejecting me?”“I am,” he confirms, though it is clear that he doesn’t want to.“Is it because I’m dirty?” I ask quietly, pain shooting through me. “Is it because I’m tainted by L and now carrying his baby?”God, what the hell was I saying? Was I really trying to guilt Thad into feeling sorry for me and helping me ignore all the emotions I so desperately wanted to escape? Didn’t that make me no better than the bastard that had broken me so completely?“You think that I’m a whore tha

I simply place the tray I’m holding on the bedside table, then straighten myself out.“Come on,” I say, peeking over my shoulder at Brielle. “Shut that door and come eat.”“Oh, okay.” She says quietly while doing exactly what it is that I’ve said. “Sorry, I’m just a...”“What have I told you about apologizing all the time?” I ask, narrowing my gaze on her. “Stop

It felt like eternity, but when the alarm that I’ve been waiting for goes off, I know that only five minutes have passed.Swallowing, I sit up and take a few deep breaths before grabbing the test beside me and then taking in the two pink lines that sit on it while my ears begin to ring and my head spins.“No,” I whisper, unable to believe that this was happening. “How can…”Don’t be stupid.
