Serena’s pov
My new room was beautiful, far beyond anything I’d ever imagined, it was nothing short of luxurious.
The bed was large and soft with fluffy white sheets that made me want to sink into them immediately. The walls were painted in soft cream tones, Elegant drapes hung from the tall windows, and warm light from a crystal chandelier bathed the room in a soft glow. I took a deep breath, the subtle scent of lavender and vanilla soothing my nerves.
I didn’t have anything except the dress I was putting on which looked horrible, but fortunately, my new job hadn’t just come with shelter and food, it had come with clothings which was nice and beautiful.
Although not what I used to wear, but beautiful nonetheless.
I decided to take a look around. The housekeeper had been in such a rush when she showed me the room that I barely had time to ask any questions. Still, I was here, safe for now, with a job that might just be my fresh start.
I peeked into the room next door which I had been told was where the little boy I’d be taking care of stayed.
The moment I stepped inside, my heart melted.
The room, I had been told, was soundproof. It was cozy and childlike, filled with toys neatly stacked on shelves and a soft, plush rug that covered most of the floor.
In the middle of the bed, a small boy was curled up, fast asleep, his chest rising and falling gently. His cheeks were flushed, and a mop of dark curls framed his peaceful face. He clutched a stuffed wolf with one hand. My heart softened immediately.
He’s adorable!
I closed the door carefully, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. Maybe this job wouldn’t be so bad after all.
The house was grand, the environment serene, and the little boy I was to care for seemed sweet and quiet.
As I turned to head back to my room, I changed my mind and decided to take a tour of the mansion. I hadn’t walked very far before I came to the huge living room. I wanted to walk past when a noise caught my attention.
A low chuckle.
I turned my head toward the sound and gasped.
A light blonde curly haired man lounged casually on a velvet couch, his long legs stretched out in front of him, completely at ease, his hand holding a remote, The glow from the enormous flat-screen TV bathed his face.
My eyes widened as I realized what I was seeing. The unmistakable sounds and visuals of a very inappropriate scene filled the space. My cheeks burned instantly, and I froze, unsure of how to handle this bizarre situation.
The man didn’t seem the least bit embarrassed. In fact, he seemed amused by my horror. His dark sea blue eyes, sharp and playful, met mine. There was something about his eyes that pulled me in, unable to break eye contact with him.
He leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees, his gaze never leaving mine. “Well, this is interesting,” he drawled. “I didn’t expect an audience tonight.”
I clamped a hand over my mouth to stifle a sound of mortification.
“Relax,” he said with a smirk, picking up the remote. “It’s just a movie. Educational, even.”
I didn’t know what to say. My mouth went dry and My tongue felt tied, my cheeks burned hotter than the sun, but his eyes never left mine, gleaming as though he could see right through me- right through the thin satin dress I was wearing to my bare skin.
I swallowed hard, willing myself not to look at the screen again. “I… I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude,” I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper.
He grinned, clearly enjoying my discomfort. “Intrude? Sweetheart, you’re free to watch with me if you want. It’s a classic.”
What? Has he got no shame?
“N-No, thank you!” I blurted out, taking a step back, my face now as red as a tomato.
He chuckled, leaning back against the couch and crossing his arms, his gaze never leaving mine. “You’re shy. Cute. I like that.”
He looked…he was handsome, but not the normal kind of way, with his curly blonde hair along with the way his eyes darted around and the way his lips curled up when he spoke, he looked like a playboy kind of… I mean who watches something like this in the living room? Where everyone could see?
“I….I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…” I found my voice and gestured vaguely toward the TV. “I’ll just go now.”
He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “Go? But you’ve only just arrived.”
I found myself rooted to the spot and he bit his lower lips as he glanced at me.
“You seem tense,” he murmured. “The kind of tension that only builds up when you don’t… let it all out.”
I gasped and he chuckled.
“Stop it,” I whispered, although my voice lacked conviction.
“Stop what?” His smile made his eyes glow. “Talking? Or making you think about what’s happening inside of you right now?”.
I swallowed hard, somehow my body was reacting in a weird way to him. It’s getting hot, making me feel uncomfortable.
“I can see it,” he continued, his voice dropping lower. “The way you breathe. The way your lips part, like you’re trying to find air…”
My feet moved before my brain could catch up, but before I could take another step, I collided with something solid.
Not something…. someone.
A wall of heat pressed against me, and I stumbled back with a startled gasp. My eyes shot up, meeting the deep gaze of none other than the man who had saved me that night from the rogues.
He stood directly in my path.
Droplets of water clung to his bare chest, tracing lines over taut, sculpted muscle. A white towel hung low on his hips, and his brow messy hair was damp, curling slightly at the ends. He narrowed his eyes at me.
I stumbled backwards.
“Are you always sneaking around?” His voice was low, cold, and filled with accusation. “Or do you make it a habit to barge into places you don’t belong?”
“I-I wasn’t..."I averted my gaze , my breath hitching in my throat. “I was leaving—”
He took a step closer, and I instinctively moved back, too far back. My foot slipped on the smooth floor, and I flailed. My arms shot out in a desperate attempt to steady myself.
My fingers found fabric.
A towel.
The towel.
The world seemed to slow as I gripped the edge of it for support. It gave way under my grasp, and before I could comprehend what was happening, the towel slipped from his waist.
Time stopped.
His eyes went wide, a mix of shock and fury flashing across his face.
I stared.
He stood there. Completely. Naked.
Serena’s povLaughter rang out from behind me and my hands flew to my mouth.“Oh my god!” I gasped, my eyes shut, hoping the ground would swallow me whole.“Turn around,” he said, his voice giving no room for negotiation. “How are you so dumb!” His voice had the same cold tone as that night.“Well, well,” the man from earlier drawled out, leaning back with a slow clap. “Now this is entertainment. Didn’t think I’d get a private show today.”“Shut. Up, Rhett.” the other man growled. I took a peek over my shoulder, immediately regretting it. He had already snatched the towel from the ground and secured it around his waist again, but the storm in his eyes hadn’t subsided.“You…” he seethed, pointing a finger at me. “Out.”“I didn’t mean…” I gripped the edge of my dress tightly.“And I thought I was going to get a live show,” Rhett lamented.“Get Out!” His voice was low, commanding, and unforgiving now as his eyes bore into mine, his eyes darkening as a scowl was carved on his face. “If y
Serena’s povI stood in front of the mirror, smoothing down the crisp lines of the gray dress uniform I’d been provided. The soft, tailored fabric hugged my petite frame, l adjusted the buttons, my fingers trembling due to how nervous I was.I inhaled deeply, mentally preparing myself for my meeting with Alpha Galen. I squared my shoulders and forced my breath to be steady.“Alright, Serena,” I whispered to my reflection. “You’ve faced worse. You can handle this.”When I arrived at Alpha Galen’s office, the heavy oak door stood half-open. I knocked lightly, stepping inside when a rich, commanding voice called out, “Come in.”The room was grand but surprisingly simple. Bookshelves lined the walls and a large window behind a massive mahogany desk let in streams of sunlight that warmed the space. Seated behind the desk was a man with dark hairs and streaks of silvery white hair. His eye was a honeyed colored blonde and although he was old, he still had those sharp features, hinting th
Serena’s povI froze but kept my eyes on the ground. “I’m just heading to my room,” I muttered. “Your room?” Her laughter was sharp. “You’re lucky you even have a room. Girls like you should be kept in a dog’s cage.”“I’m just here to do my job,” I replied evenly, forcing calm into my voice. She crossed her arms, her expression darkening. “You humiliated me in front of everyone during the interview. Do you think I’m going to let that slide?”“I didn’t mean to….”“Don’t lie,” she snapped. “You think you’re so special just because you got through the first round.”I decided to walk away, but before I could quicken my pace, a hand shot out and grabbed my arm, yanking me back.“Not so fast, Cinderella,” Winnie purred, her grip like iron.I tried to pull free, but her nails dug into my skin. I spun around to face her, my breath sharp and uneven. Her two loyal minions stood behind her, their smirks stretching wide. One of the girls on her side giggled. “Maybe she’s hoping to be more than j
Serena’s pov.The cool splash of water against my skin did little to calm the restless, warm flutter inside me. My hands moved in slow circles, washing my face, but my mind was far from the present.Yesterday felt like a dream. I bit my lips to hold back the smile that threatened to spill. Alpha Dorian’s eyes, dark and full of something I couldn’t quite name, haunted my thoughts. The way he had touched me, his hands like heat and safety all at once. My cheeks flushed as my wolf stirred in the back of my mind."Are you finally ready to admit it?"Alice. I sighed inwardly, she was always shy, like me, but right now, I could feel her excitement bubbling over. Her voice, light and airy, danced with delight. She had been pestering me since last night, practically howling with joy the moment we realized the truth."He’s our mate," she cooed, her tone filled with wonder and triumph. "Do you know how rare that is, Serena? Not just a mate. An Alpha mate! And he’s…"“I know,” I whispered alou
Selena’s povHis amber eyes seemed to darken for a moment before he stood up. He leaned towards my small frame and as we were just mere inches apart, I could see his features clearly how, Damp strands of hair framed his chiseled face, his cheekbones looked like they were sculpted from marble. As his eyes locked onto mine, I forgot how to breath, forgot how to move, caught in the pull of something I couldn’t explain. It was that same feeling again, the one I strangely couldn’t explain, just like that night.Focus, Serena!I forced myself to glance away, but was still unable to do so as the corners of his mouth tilted into something that wasn’t quite a smile, more like a predatory smirk.“You’ve got a kink for finding trouble, haven’t you?” His voice dripped with disdain. Before I could reply, my dress caught a frame lying carelessly around, which made me stumble backwards.“Ow!” I winced as a sharp pain shot up to my side. His eyes flicked downward, noting how I cradled my ribs. He
Serena’s POVI pressed myself into a corner and squeezed my eyes shut, wondering why I felt angry when it wasn’t like I liked Rhett.A sharp voice rang out..“You could’ve given me a chance!”Winnie. Her sulking tone rang out like the whine of a spoiled child denied a treat.“I know how to take care of a baby!” she huffed. “It’s not like I haven’t done it before. I wanted to be his nanny, but no—”Rhett snorted, the sound as casual as it was cutting.I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing. I doubt that She even knew how to hold a spoon for him.“Yeah? You wouldn’t know how to take care of a baby unless you let it let it latch onto one of these….” He grabbed one of her breasts.I scrunched my face in disgust at that single act.Winnie gasped, a sharp intake of air that made my ears burn.“Stop it,” she whined playfully.“Stop what?”Winnie huffed, arching her back to make her chest more prominent. “You know,” she leaned closer to him. “I got them for you” she smiled. “You love these
Serena’s POVI stilled, my heart slamming hard against my chest as I wondered how he knew about Dorian and I.Although he didn’t say anything about keeping the fact that we were mates a secret, I didn’t think he would want everyone to find out just like that.“What are you talking about?” I said, attempting to sound calm, although my voice wavered just enough to betray me. Rhett tilted his head, his messy blonde curls catching the sunlight. He had that look on his face, the one that said he knew exactly what buttons to push. “Oh, don’t play coy, Serena. You know exactly what I mean.” “I don’t,” I insisted. “I need to leave now, the…” “Come on, Serena,” he interrupted immediately. “You think I don’t notice things?.” He shoved his hands casually into the pockets of his jeans, his sea-blue eyes sparkling with amusement. I froze, “You’re imagining things.” “Am I?” he drawled, leaning closer. His voice dropped just slightly, like he was sharing a juicy secret before straightening up an
Serena’s povI stared at him, my mind reeling. This couldn’t be happening. Not with him. “No,” I whispered again, my voice barely audible. He was speaking, but I wasn’t listening, my mind was racing with several thoughts. After what felt like hours but was just several minutes, I turned around and began to run.I didn’t stop running until I was safely inside my room, the heavy wooden door slamming shut behind me. My chest rose and fell as I leaned against it, struggling to catch my breath. The memory of Rhett’s touch, the undeniable bond that had snapped between us played on a maddening loop in my mind. “No. No, no, no,” I whispered, pressing my hands to my temples as if I could squeeze the thoughts away. For weeks, I’d believed Dorian was my second chance, a gift from the Moon Goddess herself to make up for the disaster that was my first mate. He was strong, powerful, and exactly the kind of mate I thought I deserved. But now? I clenched my fists, closing my eyes as my mind repla
Serena’s POVRhett grabbed me just then, pulling me to his body which was warm against mine. He exhaled a sharp breath, pulling back slightly, but his arm remained protectively around my waist.Damien’s eyes flickered to his hands and then at my face and his entire body stiffened.“Serena.” His voice was low, rough, and unmistakably demanding. “Come here.”A shiver ran down my spine, but not from fear.Anger burned in my chest, simmering under my skin like an open flame. Before I could respond, another voice cut in.“Damien, enough,” Dorian said, stepping into the kitchen with his usual calm authority. His eyes moved between us, assessing the situation. He narrowed his eyes, his gaze fixed on Rhett’s hand on my waist. “Let’s not make a scene.”Damien didn’t even glance at him. His eyes stayed locked on mine.“I asked you a question,” he said. “Did you choose him?”Rhett scoffed. “Oh, for fuck’s sake..”“Serena…”“I caused the explosion,” Rhett admitted, rubbing the back of his neck wi
Serena’s POVA sharp, ear-piercing alarm blared through the kitchen, followed by the sudden hiss of sprinklers activating above us. Cold water rained down, soaking me instantly. My breath came fast, my heart still racing from the shock of the explosion. And Rhett…he was still on top of me. His arms were braced on either side of my head, his golden eyes searching mine as if trying to determine if I was hurt. His body was pressed so close to me, heat radiating off him despite the icy water soaking through our clothes. I ignored the way my breath hitched at the proximity and shoved his chest away. “Rhett…get off me!” He blinked, seemingly snapping out of his daze before shifting his weight and rolling to the side. I scrambled up to my knees, reaching out to check for injuries. “Are you hurt?” I demanded, scanning his arms and torso. He smirked. Even with water dripping from his dark hair and soaking his shirt, he had the audacity to look amused. “Aww, Serena, you do care about
Serena’s POVThe moment the maid gasped in exaggerated horror, I knew exactly what was coming. I had come to the kitchen to take my food that afternoon, but the way she clutched the empty jewelry case to her chest, trembling as if she’d just witnessed a murder, made it clear, this was not a coincidence.“The former Luna’s brooch is missing!” she cried, her voice thick with feigned distress. The other maids immediately fell silent, their gazes darting around the room, searching for someone to blame.I didn’t have to guess who their target was.Their eyes landed on me almost immediately.Winnie and the maid must’ve planned everything with the rest of the maids who obviously hated me for what they thought was me seducing the Alphas.I felt it before anyone said a word, the heavy weight of accusation pressing against my skin, wrapping around my throat like an invisible noose. Then one of them finally said it.“I saw her,” a younger maid spoke up, hesitation laced in her voice. “Serena l
Serena’s POVMy hands trembled as I stared at the photograph. Dorian’s stepmother, the previous Luna! But why was she dressed as a maid? Something about the picture sent a chill through me. It wasn’t just the unsettling look in her eyes or the fact that this photo had been tucked away in an old book.It was the feeling in my gut.I felt as though my presence in the Brokenmoon Pack might not have been a coincidence after all. As though it has been arranged for me to be the Alpha’s nanny…My grip on the photograph tightened. It couldn’t be…the moon goddess wouldn’t play such sick and cruel games with me.I refused to believe it… at least not without proof. I pulled out my phone and took a picture of the photo, and quickly sent it to Sophie before sending a message.‘Can you tell me about her?”Three dots appeared on the screen almost immediately. “Luna Victoria? Why?”I didn’t know what to tell her. I couldn’t tell her that it was because I thought we were similar in some ways.“I
Serena’s POVShe studied me for a moment, her sharp gaze unreadable. “Have you noticed anything different lately?”I hesitated. “Different?”Her lips pressed together in thought before she finally said, “No one has tried to harm you recently, correct?”I blinked at the unexpected question. Now that she mentioned it… I realized she was right. Except from early, Winnie had been distant from me. Before, I had always been wary of the other maids. They whispered behind my back, gave me extra work, and some weren’t afraid to get physical when they thought they could get away with it. But recently, things have changed.Winnie and the others had confronted me, yes, but they hadn’t threatened me. And no one else had dared to lay a hand on me.The realization sent a shiver down my spine.Someone had ordered them to leave me alone.“Who…” I swallowed hard. “Someone made them stop?”The head maid gave a small, knowing smile. “Who do you think?”I couldn’t think of anyone, but there could only be

Serena’s POVI sighed, resigning myself to my current predicament. There was no getting out of Damien’s grip anytime soon. His fur was warm and fluffy, unexpectedly so.The small pill bottle I had kicked earlier lay just within reach. I carefully stretched out my hand, gripping it. The scent hit me immediately, sleeping pills. That explained a lot. I exhaled slowly, feeling the weight of exhaustion pulling at me. Maybe it was just the warmth, or maybe it was the lingering smell of the pills, but my eyelids grew heavy, and before I knew it…I gave into the darkness. When I woke up, the first thing I noticed was that the weight against me was gone. The warmth, the solid grip had completely disappeared. The second thing I noticed was Damien. He was sitting a few feet away, shirtless, flipping through the medical records. The ones I had tried to steal!I sat up so fast my vision blurred. “What are you doing?” Damien didn’t even glance at me. “You talk too much when you sleep.” “Wha
Serena’s POVMy hands trembled slightly as I bent down, my eyes scanning the papers that had scattered across the floor. Reports, medical reports. My stomach clenched as I caught a glimpse of the words: ‘Rick Barnes. Status; GammaDeceased; Treatment ineffective. Condition worsened after administration of medication’They were reports of deceased people! All Gamma! My fingers tightened around one of the sheets, my heart racing as I read the name at the bottom of the report. Physician in charge: Dorian Ashmore. Dorian? Before I could process it further, the maid who had dropped the boxes let out a startled gasp and quickly snatched the papers from my hands. “I’m so sorry, Miss Serena,” she stammered, hastily gathering the documents. “These are confidential records…I…I shouldn’t have dropped them.” I stood frozen as she scrambled to put the papers back into their boxes, my mind racing. Confidential? The moment she finished collecting them, she gave me a nervous nod and hurried
Serena’s POVThe infirmary was quiet now, save for the rhythmic ticking of the clock on the far wall. Little Apollo had finally drifted into deep sleep, his tiny fingers curling slightly as he lay nestled beneath a soft blanket in a separate room. Now, I sat stiffly on the infirmary bed, the weight of exhaustion still pressing on my limbs. My fever had dulled, but the stiffness in my joints remained, making every movement feel sluggish. Across from me, Dorian sat with his arms crossed, his sharp eyes studying me intently. He had still not said anything about my earlier question. There was something different about the way he looked at me, something calculating, as if he was trying to decide whether or not to speak. He finally exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Even if we're mates, it still doesn't mean you'll choose me." I frowned. "What?" "You have three mates," he said plainly. "It's not just me. You have choices, Serena, three choices." A humorless laugh escaped my lips.
