I half laid on Vitali’s bed, with my back resting on the bedstead. I was scrolling through my phone.

Vitali lay across the bed, his arms wrapped around my waist and his face buried in my thighs as he slept. I could feel the soft rising and falling of his chest as he breathed.

He was exhausted from the day’s work so he was having a siesta which was rare

Vitali's phone buzzed on the nightstand, shrill in the silence. He groggily reached over to silence it, but his eyes snapped open when he saw the name on the screen.

"Livia," he growled, his voice rough with sleep.

I stirred beside him, tearing my eyes away from my phone "Who is it?" I mumbled.

Vitali's jaw clenched. "Livia."

My eyes widened, and I sat up, my voice more alert. "What does she want?"

I knew they were all buddies before but that needed to stop.

She shouldn’t just pick up her phone and call him whenever she liked, even if she was in his mafia

Vitali's eyes locked onto mine, his expression grim. "I don't know, but I'm

It was a few hours to the ball and I was getting myself ready. I’d decided I wanted to look totally different so I decided to dye my hair. I had ordered some products and following the instructions, I mixed them and applied them to my hair. I also watched an instructional video online. After about 20-25 minutes, I stood in front of the bathroom sink, my hair covered in a messy blob of bleach. As I rinsed out the bleach, I watched in horror as chunks of my hair fell out. I had been going for a subtle blonde, but it seemed I had gotten the mixture all wrong. Firstly, not all parts of my hair had the same color on it. Some parts were blonde and some were a shade brown.Oh my God! This was a huge disaster, I couldn’t be found dead in the gala looking like this. What have I done? I should’ve just carried on with my natural hair color and I’d have been elegant still. Just then, Vitali walked into the bathroom, a look of concern on his face. "Elizabeth, what's going on?" he asked, t

Vitali didn't hesitate. He pulled me towards his car, throwing me into the passenger seat before jumping in himself. He started the engine and peeled out of the parking lot, the SUV hot on our heels. I’d never seen him drive so roughly in my life . He was swerving and bending the car dangerously He floored it, weaving in and out of traffic as the SUV kept pace. I could see the driver's face twisted with rage, his gun pointing out the window. Vitali drove to a secluded street and the SUV followed us Without hesitation, Vitali hung out of the window, his gun firing well-targeted shots at the SUV. The driver swerved but kept coming. I screamed, my hands clutching the dashboard as Vitali took a sharp turn, narrowly avoiding a collision. "Vitali, what's going on?" I yelled.I desperately needed to know It’d just been disaster after disaster all through todayVitali didn't answer. He was too focused on taking down our pursuers. He fired again, this time hitting the SUV's tire. The

“What the fuck?” Vitali frowned looking at all of them. “Vitali I …” Livia tried to explain but Vitali wasn’t having it , his face burning with rage “Shut the fuck up!” Vitali barked at her and she flinched “And you didn’t think to send me a text? “They all looked uneasy in their seats. I liked the diversion though. I nearly wanted to enter the ground just thinking of how embarrassing it was that they had seen us all loved up. But now they had something else to worry about. I really wanted to leave the living room and go to mine but I was also scared of Vitali’s rage. What if I tried to go and he shouted at me in front of everyone here? This man could do anything and I didn’t want to be embarrassed. “I sent you a text boss and when we got here, your maid let us in because she’s familiar with us “ the sand colored-haired guy, I remember his name was Vincent, explained to Vitali. “What the fuck happened at that ball. None of you knew ?” Vitali glared at them, ignoring Vince

Vitali and I sat on the couch, facing each other. We had just finished dinner, and the evening was quiet, with only the sound of the TV in the background. I had been curious about Vitali's past for a while now, and I had finally gathered the courage to ask him. After all that happened yesterday, I’d been wondering how Vitali got caught up in this. What happened to him that made him join the mafia and he’s never spoken about his parents or childhood to me before now and I needed to know. "Vitali, can I ask you something?" I said, my voice soft. Vitali looked at me, his eyes questioning. "Of course, what is it?" he replied. I took a deep breath before speaking. "I was wondering about your past. You never talk about it, and I was curious to know more about you." Vitali's expression changed, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of reluctance in his eyes. But then, his face relaxed, and he nodded.“What exactly do you want to know ?” His voice was void of emotion“Everything.

I had just finished making myself some chicken saladI planned to eat it while seeing a movie. It was my idea for a perfect afternoon.Today was a Saturday , Vitali didn’t go to the mafia house, he’d been in his home office burying himself with work. I dished out my food and poured myself a cold glass of cold juice, I was ready for some TV time. But as I entered the room, I was shocked to see Vitali sprawled out on the entire couch, taking up every inch of space. When did he come down?Wasn’t he busy anymore? "Vitali, what are you doing? Aren’t you supposed to be busy with work?" I asked, trying to stifle a laugh. He was sprawled over the sofa that was directly opposite the TV, my favorite sofa. Vitali opened one eye lazily and looked at me. "I'm relaxing," he said, his voice low and smooth. I raised an eyebrow. "Relaxing? You're taking up the whole couch ." Vitali shrugged. "I'm a big guy. I need a lot of space." I playfully rolled my eyes. "You're not that big."“Oh yeah? ,

My heart sank as I stood in Vitali's office, watching the scene before me. I had been expecting to surprise him, but instead, I was met with a scene that made my blood run cold. “I can explain” Vitali repeated “You don’t need to. I think it’s pretty clear what’s going on here “ I said, trying to control my voice I didn’t want to show him how much he had hurt me.Vitali looked up and for a moment, he just stared at me, a hint of annoyance on his face. Then, to my shock, he just shrugged. "Oh, great," his voice dripping with sarcasm. I felt a wave of anger wash over me. How could he be so casual, so unrepentant? "That’s what you’re gonna say ?" I demanded, trying to keep my voice steady. Vitali rolled his eyes. "Don't be dramatic, Elizabeth. This doesn't concern you." My eyes widened in shock. Didn't concern me? Was he kidding?"You're cheating on me," I spat, her voice rising. "Of course, it concerns me." Vitali sneered. "I'm not cheating on you. We were never exclusive." I

I hope this wasn’t another plan to embarrass or make fun of me He smiled, his eyes locked on mine. "I'm here to apologize," he said, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear. "I was wrong to hurt you, Elizabeth. I love you, and I want to make it right." I could hear the loud gasps and whispers ‘How could he love her ?’ ‘Vitali’s in love?’ ‘Eww she’s such a pauper ‘‘He couldn’t find anyone else ?’ And many more condescending comments filled my ears “I’d been a horrible horrible man to you. I’ve treated you badly, so badly you now want nothing to do with me and I want to fix that. Please give me a chance Elizabeth” The air seemed to hang still I tried to speak but my mouth felt dry. It was a lazy weekend, Zoe had gone to her new workplace. She had quit working at the club and was now working as a waitress in a restaurant nearby. I asked why she quit since the pay was better at the club but she explained that she was relocating and the sexual harassment from patrons at the club was too much It was already time for her to get back but she wasn’t here yet . I was lounging on the couch, scrolling through my phone, when Zoe burst into the room. "Beth, guess what?" she exclaimed, holding up two invitations. I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "What is it?" "We're invited to Tyler Jackson's company’s anniversary party!" Zoe said, her eyes shining with excitement. “Um…Tyler Jackson as in CEO of TJ corporation, son of multi-millionaire Harris Jackson? “ I widened my eyes in surprise “Yes! VITALI’S POV:The sound of a man begging for his life is both exquisite and annoying.I stared down blankly at Derek, or so his name was, begging pathetically for his worthless life, like the annoying piece of shit he is. I don't even know why they try. There was no other way out for them. For men like Derek. All they had to do was pay up their debt and by doing so, they made my job less annoying with their bloody pleas.Derek owed me a debt, he wasn’t going to be the first man to find it difficult to pay me back what he owed. But he was going to be the first I’d be dealing with before his deadline was up.His pleas made my ears fucking bleed. It's always the same with men like them. They take loans bigger than their balls and gamble it up and down till there's nothing but their shriveling flesh left to offer when the time comes to pay up.Then they begin to beg, cry, and whine for their pathetic lives. It's so fucking ugly that I want to grab their neck and break it so they never utt

He had pinned me to the wall At this point, Vitali's eyes locked on mine. "I know I hurt you," he said, his voice low and husky. "But I love you, Elizabeth. I need you."I shook my head, to show disbelief. "You don't love me," I spat. "You just want to control me."“No. I didn’t mean it when I said all that Elizabeth “ he confessed but I didn’t believe him “I don’t care, I just want to leave “ I maintained“I’m so sorry Elizabeth.
