Chapter 71

CLAIRE's POV

I sat under the large tree in the garden. My legs were raised all the way up to chest with my head burried into my knees as I sniffled and swallowed down hiccups.

A strong wind blew, taking fallen leaves with it and blowing them around the small garden I sat in. The atmosphere was tranquil and only the sound of crickets echoed through the environment.

I raised my head and glanced around. It was already night time and the moon was out, illuminating the earth below. As I stared at the moon, I blinked and felt a sharp pain burn my eye lids and under bags.

I could not recall the last time I had cried this much in my entire life. It appalled me, to think that I had spent hours bawling my eyes out and sobbing like a child.

But I could not help the hurt that spread across my chest, engulfing me completely. The words Dominik had said to me were engraved in my mind and I could not stop thinking about them.
