Chapter 122

CLAIRE's POV

The incident with Cora never left my mind after that day. Image of her lifeless body on the floor, with the blood running out from the back of her head haunted me.

It haunted me so much, it turned into nightmares. Nightmares that caused me to wake up in a pool of my sweat. I knew I had not pushed her down the stairs, but I still played a part in it. If I had calmed down, and rationally thought of a way to retrieve the necklace from her.

Instead, I was driven by my hate and jealousy for her. Now, I was labelled a monster. As if my position and status in the pack house was not bad enough. I chuckled bitterly to myself as I sat by the window in my room, gazing up at the night sky.

The incident led me to become a recluse. I stayed in my room all day and made no attempt to leave. It was better this way. It made me avoid all the whispers and stares that I would possibly get if I left.
