LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POV
Days have passed since the cafeteria incident. The entire class mourned for the loss of Joseph, and we have also offered our condolences to his family. The school’s administration promised that they would be compensated with the finances of his burial and that they were at fault because we had to set up a meeting for our project. I couldn’t sleep for the entire night after that tragedy; I was feeling guilty. I was the leader, and I knew that I owned and carried a huge responsibility for Joseph’s death because I scheduled that group meeting. His parents and even Andrea might be blaming me up to this point, which is why I chose to lock myself up in my room. "Luna, your party will start in less than three hours. Are you sure that you wouldn’t attend?" Mrs. Asterbelle asked from the other side of the door. "I’m not sure, Mrs. Asterbelle," I replied with honesty. "Please tell Mr. Asterbelle that I will just be a little bit late." I had to treat the both of them with the utmost respect since my parents were the king and queen of the Blood Moon Pack and I was considered their only daughter. I wasn’t originally born in this place, and I was just adopted by the Asterbelles. No matter how much they wanted to have their own child, Mrs. Asterbelle was unfortunate to be given the curse of not getting impregnated by her mate. I wasn’t able to get any hints as to who my real parents were, but I just let it pass by. I was content with the current family that I had inside this pack house of mine. After carefully considering whether I'd attend or not, I mustered up the courage to take a shower and prepare for my celebration. "Which one do you prefer, Lady Luna?" an Omega who was assigned to me asked. She placed her hands on two gowns that were worn by mannequins. One was pure red and seemed to be alluring to the eyes of many, while the other was a simple dress that was sparkling due to the variety of accessories. Believing that I would be able to transform into my werewolf form later on, I decided to go on with the simple dress that would not gather much attention. Besides, it would be a waste if I wore the red gown since it would just be ruined and torn apart. The caretaker assisted me into wearing the dress; her hands were too gentle, as if she were taking care of something fragile. She was also the one who gave my make-up a retouch. The only thing I refused from her was her suggestion of giving me 3-inch heels. No matter how short it may seem, I just can’t walk properly without a pair of flat sandals. I wouldn’t want to embarrass myself in front of so many people that I treasure. An hour went by before I arrived at the venue where my debut would be held. I could see Yve standing in front of the gate; she was most probably waiting for my appearance. "Hey." I shortly greeted her with a peck on her cheeks. "It’s almost your special day, Luna. Don’t worry about what happened the other day and just celebrate your heart out," Yve cheerfully said, in an attempt to lift my hopes up. I gave her a faint smile as I nodded my head to her and just made my way inside the ballroom. Everyone seemed to be luxurious; of course, my parents wouldn’t dare invite anyone who was in the lower class. It would have been great if they were here, but they told me earlier that an emergency had occurred and that they needed to protect the common wolves since the guards were away. Speaking of which, I can’t wait to see what my appearance will be as I transform into a wolf later on! I wonder if I would immediately find my mate; I heard that mates would come looking for one another unless I am a stealer. I was making sure that each of the ones that came to my party were getting entertained when Yve called me while she was holding the logbook of attendees. "Why is Jerome the only one blacklisted in your event?" she asked as she raised a brow at the same time that she lent me the logbook. I didn’t know what the right words were to describe our current situation. It has been a couple of years since the last time that I saw Jerome. When I knew that he had transferred schools, I was genuinely delighted, as I was bullied by him from time to time. He never told me the reason why he was rude to me, but I always sensed this strong bloodlust emitting from the way that he touched me. "We just don’t get along," I reasoned. Even though I’m always the type of person to be considerate, Jerome was the only exception. Yve sighed as she shook her head. "He hasn’t been in contact with you for years. There’s the possibility that he might have been slaughtered by a rampaging wolf on the outskirts of Grimstone. This might be the time for you to just forgive and forget about him, as his soul might not be able to rest in peace," she persuaded me. Silence surrounded the entire place as the chandeliers began to lose their light. My chest tightened, and I felt like something was suffocating me to death. The crowd panicked when every source of electricity went down. I couldn’t see anything. "You have no right to enjoy this celebration of yours," said an unfamiliar voice who spoke just right beside my ear. He gave me goosebumps, and I was instantly frozen where I was standing when the electricity came back at the same time that I saw him. Those ferocious eyes… I can’t be mistaken; it’s him. "Jerome…" I mentioned his name as I gulped, drops of sweat flowing through my forehead.LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVJerome’s serene crimson eyes, which seemed to be captivating me, were paired with his alluring gray hair, which was pushed back while some strands were being blown away. I knew that I was going to be in trouble when he started to click his tongue along with the gritting of his teeth."I see that you still haven’t changed, Luna Asterbelle." He placed one of his hands inside his pocket as he slowly walked closer to me. "You’re still the same brat that I left years ago," he added. The way that he mentioned my name was displeasing. "Why did you return?""There’s no way that I will allow you to celebrate your legality in peace," he scoffed. In a literal blink of an eye, everyone screamed when Jerome went on a rampage without even bothering to change his form. He jumped on their shoulders, but he was quite mindful of his own strength; no one was injured because of him. "These people are not precious to you, are they?" he asked.I frowned, as I didn’t understand what he
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVIt may sound weird for others to hear, but I really seem to be hopeless, even though I know that I had a wolf living inside my body. The only problem that I can’t comprehend now is the fact that I also contain the blood of a vampire. A creature that I never wanted to become, no matter what the circumstances were. Everything was still processing inside my mind, and I refused to believe that this was how things would end up."I have to figure a way out of this mess. I’m sure that my parents don’t really mean that neither of them wanted to see me in their territories any longer," I mumbled to myself in an attempt to lift myself up and motivate my spirits even though I am completely running out of reasons why I should still remain positive with all of the hate that I have been receiving. "They probably regret throwing me out of their packhouse," I added before I heaved out a deep, long, and exhausting sigh.As I was trying to come up with a plan on how I should explai
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVMy eyes flinched from what Mr. Asterbelle vocalized. I could feel a huge portion of my blood boiling inside my body, making its way up to my head. "Are you trying to tell me that if it wasn’t for the accident that gave you this burn mark, I am most probably dead by now?" I asked, longing for assurance that I understood his statement correctly. He only gave me a slight movement of his head up and downward as a reply. "If that’s so, then why am I seeing such a dark aura surrounding your body, Mr. Asterbelle?"I blurted out something that should have just remained inside my mind, but I could no longer suppress myself."You… You can see the color of my aura?" Mr. Asterbelle asked, his eyes widening as if it were such a surprise for him that I could actually see his aura.I nodded my head twice. "Yes."All of a sudden, his facial expression changed one more time. If only I could get a logbook on how many times his expression alters in the same hour, then I would have c
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVOddly enough, despite the close proximity of this rampaging wolf, I still felt like this wouldn’t be the day that I would lose my life. There’s something about me that assures my own safety, and the only thing that I had to do was be patient. That person’s presence was getting closer with each passing second. He might be a savior or one of this wolf’s accomplices."Why’d you bring someone else with you?" I asked, in hopes that he was still sane enough to perceive my query.A confused look was transmitted to his face. "You must be bluffing to divert my attention, but sorry, you’re not getting away—"The unknown wolf that was above me had been sliced through the neck. I watched as his head crawled down to my chest; his eyes widened as its nerves popped out as it slowly turned red in color. He was no longer capable of speaking his thoughts out, but I could sense his intense bloodlust all over my surroundings. Before anything else weird happened, I immediately got up
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVSince the very moment that he laid his chest on mine, his rapid heartbeat hasn’t returned to its normal state. I could say that it’s even faster than mine, as if he’s the one who’s being locked away from having the chance to escape. "H-hey… You’re suffocating me," I whispered, noticing how close our distance from each other was. Although, despite him being near me, I can’t get a proper look at what he really looks like."Don’t glance at my face; you wouldn’t recognize me either way, Luna. It would be best for you not to know who I am," he said in such a serious tone before finally letting go of my wrist and setting me free."What am I supposed to call you when I don’t know who you are?"A moment of silence occurred between the two of us before he replied. "Eman. You can call me Eman for now. Though, it’s not like you need to remember my name."Despite the reality that we’re already a few meters apart, I still can't forget the feeling of having our skins pressed ag
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVI’ve been trying to fight with Yve for a couple of minutes now. She just doesn’t know when to give up. My hands were already getting huge, and I could feel that my fingernails were about to sharpen. I don’t want to hurt her, and even though she’s already treating me like some kind of blood sucking creature, I still believe that she’s still the same friend that I loved."S-stop this, Yve… You’re the only one who’s going to be hurt if you keep on doing this to me." I pleaded with her as much as I could, but my voice doesn’t seem to reach her anymore. Her dark desires were already eating her entire system, and she only wanted to get hold of my blood. "Why are all of you insisting on having my blood? Wouldn’t this be dangerous for you since you’re a wolf?" I asked her out of pure curiosity, since I’m really concerned with what would happen to her if she got to take a sip of my blood. She pinned me to the ground, completely restricting any possible movements that I cou
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVFor the longest time in my whole life, this seemed to be the first moment that I'd experienced being transferred over to what seemed to somehow be inside someone else’s dream. The ground wasn’t the same; it wasn’t made of stone, and it wasn’t made out of soil either. It was pure flesh.Yes, the pure flesh of a human who just died.I know for sure that it’s recent because of the scent that it had; it’s not that stinky, unlike those corpses lying on the street for weeks or months."Hello? Is anyone there?" I asked softly at the same time that I roamed my vision around the place that gave me the chills. My body was somehow reacting to the dimension that I was in. I could feel my bones from my back waving, and my wings were itching to show themselves. It’s not just that; both of my visions were different and the exact opposite of one another. My left eye was starting to be filled with red dye, while the right one was blue. Both my wolf and vampire forms wanted to make
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVI saw how fast Jerome’s naturally black eyes were turned into those crimson eyes of his, which were paired with his gray hair. If he’s starting to turn into this state, then he’s probably being consumed by his wolf. I still can’t say for sure if the moon goddess and Jerome really had a relationship with one another as mother and son, but I can surely assure you that there’s a connection between the two of them, even way back when I got to know of his identity.I simply had no idea what it was as of the moment, but if it enrages him to the point that he’d want to torture me alive, then that just means that he hates Althea. "C-can you calm down for now, Jerome? We’re not on the premises of Grimstone; we don’t have a clue what can happen here," I quickly said to stop him from delivering another fatal blow that I’m not prepared for. He’s probably ten centimeters taller than I am now. He used to be slimmer than me before he went missing. For all of the years that I hav
LUNA ASTERBELLE’S POVAbout six months passed. Nothing special happened during those six months. We all just kept on working our asses off to earn money like everyone else does. All of what recently occurred to me in this world that seemed so unreal finally made sense to me, even though I never imagined and hoped that there would come a time when I would get married to the first and last man I love and would love for eternity, Jerome Dawson.Denrick was the one who planned for all of this. From the set-up, the wedding organizers, the theme, the dress codes, the invitations—everything. He knew that I would arrive this year, as if he had a condition with the moon goddess from Grimstone that he would claim me back no matter what.On the other hand, Charlotte only stood in the same spot as she watched me get dolled up by the hair and make-up artists. Even if I couldn’t see her face-to-face right now, I could still hear her sobbing. Those were tears of joy.“We’ll make you the star of the
LUNA ASTERBELLE’S POVI chose to let him hug me instead of pushing him away. The warmth in his embrace made me feel a sense of nostalgia. He was the first one to step back, but both of his hands still had contact with my forearms.“Are you Mr. Asterbelle?” I asked, making it obvious that I don’t recognize him at all.He didn’t seem to like my first query, seeing how he pressed his lips together, which made his dimples visible. “Yes, I am. I’m Denrick Asterbelle, your father, and my wife is Charlotte Asterbelle. I would understand that you don’t remember a single thing about what kind of life you had here. Let’s go inside so we can have a proper and decent conversation while sitting,” he said, inviting us inside the office. The three of us sat together on a single couch. We instantly saw Yuki from the other corner, and when she noticed our presence, she hurriedly went to sit beside her brother, Nero. My lips curled a little bit to form a small smile when I saw how the Holmes were glad
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVI felt like there was someone who was desperately trying to wake me up from my deep slumber. A warm pair of hands touched my face, slowly cupping my cheeks, which were later pinched."I know you're awake. Stop pretending like you're asleep just to feel my touch, Luna," said a man with such a deep tone.I struggled to open my eyes because of the bright sunlight that was directed at me. And when I finally had a clear view of the dazzling man in front of me, my lips slightly parted."I should run away, right? You're going to harass me and kill me later on, right? You're a bad person despite having such a mesmerizing appearance, right?" I consecutively questioned him with both of my eyebrows raised. His facial expressions displayed how confused he was with my reaction, as if all of my speculations about him were far off from what he really intended to do.The man firmly held my shoulders as the two of us stood straight. "Don't mess with me, Luna. Are you being seriou
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVAfter we scattered all throughout the cave that looked like a pack house, we gathered back at the entrance to share our insights. We all shared something in common, which was the sight of human flesh placed in every corner. And just when I thought things wouldn't get any worse, Yve told us how she saw a possible hidden path from the deepest part of the cave."I swear, there was a lever on the bookshelf. I didn't want to advance there by myself; I was afraid that I might not be able to return once I went there," Yve explained. No one among us doubted her, so we agreed to follow her wherever she saw it.The walls were compressing more and more with each step we took, so we had to line up and walk in a straight line to avoid the risk of getting crushed. There were chandeliers in the room we went to. It's probably an archives area, judging by how many rows of bookshelves were built."There it is! The lever," Yve said, pointing at the first row of shelves.I tapped he
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVThe airway in my lungs got stuck when I felt the firmness of Jin's grip on my neck as he aggressively strangled me, like he had the intention to take my life away right at this moment.I held onto his wrists in an attempt to pull them away, which was unsuccessful. Jin was beyond the scope of my current strength, which I was letting out."Come on, Luna. Show me what you've got. I know you're just holding yourself back. If you insist on pretending like a weakling, you'd die out of cowardice," Jin whispered to my ear with his deep voice that wasn't pleasing.I swung my left leg towards his crotch, but it was useless. Jin didn't even move an inch, as if he were already numb to any kind of pain.If this escalated further, I'd really die. With that said, the only choice I have left is to listen to what he has to say."Parents? I never had one. I was brought to this world as an orphan. I have no such thing," I said as I desperately tried to breathe.Jin released me from
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVThe man who served as the guard of the orphanage where I originally belonged and was also the heir of it was the same man who now serves as the guardian of this cave that was filled with a mysterious aura."So this was how you managed to feed us with that human flesh," Jerome said.I heard how his teeth were clasping against one another, so I held onto his hand to calm him down. I mind-linked with him to stop him from taking any indecisive actions."You should be appreciative that I still provided food and shelter for all of you. Imagine if I didn't; you wouldn't be standing there right now. You're probably buried deep within the ground without anyone remembering you," Jin replied as a provocation to Jerome, knowing that he had a short temper.I shook my head when Jerome glanced my way, knowing that he was starting to lose his screw.I stepped in front of Jerome, and before I got to Jin's area of reach, he removed the mask that covered about half of his face. His
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVThe surreal feeling of being respected by everyone around me was still like a dream to me. I was so used to getting looked down on, so this entire turnout of events really benefits me. I no longer had to keep an eye on all the little things that would bring my reputation down."Luna, can you come up to the Alpha's office?" Yve asked the exact moment she entered the dining hall. "He called from the reception area and was looking for you. I don't know why he didn't choose to just mind-link with you," she explained with a sigh.I smiled at her as I went upstairs with a heavy heart. My gut was telling me that Jerome called me up there for some bad news.Knocking on his gray office door, I opened the door and crossed its threshold. "Jerome, what's the matter? It's unusual for you to call me up here," I mumbled as I slowly walked in front of his desk to stand right beside him as he watched the people from his window."One of our warriors has gone missing," Jerome initi
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVAs if on cue, the rain poured on us as if it were Althea who was getting dramatic over the loss of a prominent werewolf. If Brian were one of her children, she would surely be cursing all of the people who teamed up just for a single purpose: to annihilate Brian.A deafening silence surrounded the three of us in the woods when no one dared to speak after Jerome got rid of his bloodlust over Brian.Mrs. Asterbelle arrived at the scene and told us to gather around the mansion. "I don't know what to say. I still can't believe that he's really dead," she anxiously muttered while holding onto my forearm. "Thank you, Luna. All of this wouldn't have been possible if you weren't here."Left without the reason for her existence, a query popped into my head. "Aren't you feeling a sense of melancholy now that your mate is gone?"My mother shook her head, distancing herself from me. "It's fine. I'm actually happier than ever. Brian ridiculed me since the first day he chose m
LUNA ASTERBELLE'S POVBrian brought me out of the pack house, somewhere within the woods, where I tend to get lost when I am still a kid. He probably assumed that there would be no one guarding this place since we already went to the mansion with my vigorous allies. The only one left here outside who was capable was Zen, along with their pack warriors, though I can't detect their specific hideout."I should have buried you alive. No, I never should have considered listening to that stupid man to adopt you." Brian began to reminisce about the past that he could no longer change without mentioning who he was referring to. "Too bad for you, though; you'll die without stepping foot in that wonderful world where you could've made a bounty of fresh humans."A world filled with humans? Those only exist in fairytales; there's no such thing as mortals. Not even the moon goddess knows about them. Grimstone was the only place that actually existed. If humans were real, then do they also know abo
