Alexander’s Command

The massive doors of the Levi mansion creaked open, echoing through the vast area. A shiver ran through me as I entered, with Alexander's figure trailing behind me like an inescapable specter. As I absorbed the magnificence of the scene—tall ceilings adorned with intricate mouldings, marble floors shimmering in the gentle glow of chandeliers, and walls featuring dark wood paneling that radiated affluence and authority—my heart tightened.

However, the luxury did not comfort me; it stifled me. This was more than a mansion—it was a golden cage.

“Come with me,” Alexander's voice was deep, nearly a growl, as he motioned to the grand staircase. His voice was authoritative, not a suggestion.

I felt uncertain. The thought of trailing him anywhere seemed like yielding to his power, which I wasn’t prepared to accept. My legs felt anchored to the marble floor.

He paused in his stride, his sharp icy-blue gaze fixating on me. “I don’t say the same thing twice, Dysis.”

My name felt odd when he said it—piercing, like a knife cutting through the tension existing between us. His stare challenged me to oppose him. I looked around, trying to find a way out, but the doors behind me had already been shut by one of his followers.

Inhaling deeply, I compelled my legs to move, with every step up the stairs feeling more burdensome than the previous one. The nearer I approached him, the more his presence appeared to wrap around me, similar to a storm cloud hovering above.

We arrived at the staircase's peak, and he guided me through a lengthy corridor flanked by sturdy doors. He opened one at the end, exposing a space that was both opulent and chilly. In the middle stood a spacious four-poster bed, adorned with silk sheets in a midnight hue. A fireplace, not lit, and a window that faced the expansive estate grounds.

"This is the place where you'll remain," he remarked, moving aside to allow me entry.

Remain. Similar to a visitor? No, the manner in which he expressed it indicated this was more of a detention area than a refuge. I entered hesitantly, feeling the burden of his stare on my back.

I turned to look at him, folding my arms across my chest in a weak effort to regain a feeling of control. “What do you desire from me?”

His lips turned into a slight, mirthless grin. "Compliance, to begin with."

I tightened my fists. "You can't simply anticipate that I—"

"Anticipate?" His voice pierced through mine, clear and authoritative. He moved in closer, his mere presence dominating. "It appears that you are misinterpreting your circumstances, Dysis." This isn't regarding your desires or what you consider to be just. Your dad sold you to me. "You belong to me now."

The words struck me hard, yet I wouldn’t allow him to notice the tears welling in my eyes. "I am not an object," I retorted, my voice shaking.

He inclined his head a bit, observing me as though I were a fascinating enigma. "Then demonstrate it," he replied calmly, pivoting on his heel. "You will accompany me for dinner at eight." "Get prepared."

“I’m not leaving,” I stated boldly.

He stopped at the entrance, facing away from me. The stillness lingered, oppressive and stifling, until he shifted his head ever so slightly, allowing me to glimpse the sparkle in his frigid gaze. "Don't push me, Dysis." "You may not appreciate the result."

With that, he departed, the door clicking closed after him.

I exhaled unevenly, my legs nearly giving way beneath me. The space felt colder without him, but I didn't miss the weight of his presence.

I walked around the room, my head racing with ideas. I wasn't going to stay inactive and allow him to control my life. There must have existed a way to escape. My eyes focused on the window. It was large enough to crawl through, yet as I opened it, I saw the drop—at least three levels down to the meticulously designed gardens below.

Nonetheless, it remained an option.

A gentle tap on the door surprised me, and I immediately stepped back from the window. A young woman entered, her dark hair neatly pulled back, her gaze lowered. She held a tray that appeared to have a dress and some high heels.

"Mr. Levi requested that I deliver this to you," she said softly, setting the items on the bed.

I scowled. "I didn't request this."

Her eyes briefly met mine, apprehensive. “It’s not a request,” she stated before quickly leaving the room.

I gazed at the gown, the smooth material shining in the light. It was lovely, yet the idea of wearing it seemed like an added set of shackles.

When the clock hit eight, I still hadn’t altered. I perched at the bed's edge, arms folded, challenging him to come discover me.

A few moments later, the door opened, revealing him with an expression that combined irritation and humor. "Fascinating selection," he remarked, his eyes surveying my relaxed clothing.

I remained standing, locking eyes with him and summoning all the defiance I could. "I said I’m not going."

He moved nearer, his imposing stature causing me to feel diminutive yet still important. "Do you believe I’m the kind of man who tolerates disobedience?”

My heart pounded as he closed the distance between us. His presence was suffocating, but I refused to back down. “Do you think I’m the kind of woman who bends to threats?”

His lips curved into a faint smirk, but there was no warmth in it. “You’ll learn,” he said softly, almost a whisper.

Before I could react, he grabbed my wrist—not harshly, but firmly enough to make it clear he wasn’t asking. “You don’t want to walk? Fine.”

And then he lifted me off my feet as if I weighed nothing.

“Put me down!” I shouted, struggling against him, but his grip was unyielding.

“Stop squirming, Dysis,” he said, his voice low and calm, which only infuriated me more.

He carried me down the hall, ignoring my protests, and I realized with growing dread that no amount of resistance would deter him.

When we reached the dining room, he set me down in a chair at the head of the long table. His men stood along the walls, their expressions blank but their presence intimidating.

Alexander leaned down, his face inches from mine. "Defiance may make me smirk right now, but once you push it far enough you'll discover that I'm not much as patient as I appear to be." I raised my jaw to conceal my nervousness from him, despite the fact that his remarks made me cringe. "Savor your food." He spoke while rising upright and sitting down at the other end of the table. The atmosphere in the room turned tense when the first dish was presented. I stared at him wrathfully and schemed my getaway in my mind. The echo of heavy footsteps filled the corridor, succeeded by the unmistakable click of a rifle being readied. Alexander's soldiers tightened as the dining room doors swung wide, their hands moving toward their firearms.

And standing there, with a gun aimed directly at Alexander, was someone I never expected to see again.

The atmosphere became still. The man by the entrance, his hand unwavering as he pointed the gun at Alexander, had a face I hadn’t encountered in years—but one I could never erase from memory. His gaze blazed with the same anger I recalled from my youth, the same resentment I had previously suffered. “Thomas Salmon,” Alexander stated, his voice steady, showing no sign of apprehension. His cool blue eyes remained steady as he reclined in his chair, an image of unsettling tranquility. My breath became stuck in my throat. My dad was there, alive and furious, his anger clear. The most recent time I encountered him, I vowed to myself that I would never be around him again. Still, he stood before me, a ghost from my history, gripping a weapon as if it were the sole thing supporting him. “Release her,” my father hissed, his tone deep and poisonous. Alexander's lips curved into a slight smile, one that failed to reach his eyes. “I don’t follow commands, especially from someone who can’t s

The quiet in the dining room was oppressive, a burdensome sensation compressing my chest. My father's visage remained fixed in my thoughts, his abrupt emergence and enigmatic phrases swirling like a tempest I couldn't evade. I slid my chair back, the noise scraping on the marble floor, and headed towards the door. I required fresh air—something to cut through the confusion in my thoughts. However, as soon as I entered the hallway, I recognized that I wasn't by myself. A young woman was present, her posture both composed and vigilant. She donned a plain black outfit that fitted her slim figure, her cropped black hair neatly secured behind her ears. Her deep brown eyes locked onto mine, unwavering and inscrutable, and for an instant, I believed she might completely dismiss me. "You ought not to be roaming about," she remarked, her tone steady yet gentle. "And who are you to say that to me?" I erupted, my irritation spilling out. I was exhausted from being instructed on where I could

The gunshot rang in my ears, piercing and shocking. My heart raced as I hurried to the window, pulling back the thick velvet curtain slightly to look outside. The estate grounds were dim, with shadows elongated beneath the soft shimmer of the moonlight. I wasn't able to identify the source of the noise, but the muted yells of the guards validated my greatest anxieties—something was going on. Something hazardous. I turned away from the window, breathing in short, sharp puffs. This was the time to run, if there ever was one. The disorder outside would serve as an ideal diversion. I took a coat from the closet and draped it over my shoulders, disregarding the shake in my hands. My strategy was straightforward: escape from this room, steer clear of Alexander’s men, and discover a means to leave the premises. Easy in concept, unattainable in reality—but I needed to give it a go. The idea of remaining here, under his influence, filled me with a rush of sickness. I couldn't allow this to b

The tension from my failed escape lingered like a storm cloud, heavy and oppressive. Every corner of the mansion seemed to remind me of my imprisonment. My wrists ached from the rough restraints Alexander had used, a physical reminder of his power. The bitterness of his words and the icy finality in his eyes lingered in my mind. My heartbeat accelerated when my room's door cracked open. Expecting Alexander, I instinctively stiffened, bracing for another confrontation. Instead, a man I didn’t recognize entered. He was tall and impeccably dressed, his presence both calming and commanding. Jet-blue hair framed a striking face, and vivid green eyes, kind yet observant, met mine. “I’m Lucian Everett,” he introduced himself, setting a small medical kit on the table. “The family doctor.” His voice was smooth, professional, but there was a warmth that Alexander lacked. “I didn’t ask for a doctor,” I said, my voice edged with defiance. Lucian smiled faintly, unbothered by my tone. “I wa

"Do you always have to be so damn cold?" My voice cracked through the stillness of the room, sharp and deliberate. I knew the words were risky, but after everything—being dragged into this mansion, caged like an animal, forced into submission—I couldn’t hold them back any longer. Alexander's wide shoulders tensed as though my words had struck him in the middle of his stride. His icy-blue eyes met mine as he slowly turned to face me. Only the uncompromising steel that had frightened me from the first time I had seen him was present; there was no warmth.. "And do you always have to be so reckless, Dysis?" His voice was calm, low, but laced with a warning I knew better than to ignore. I didn’t back down. Not this time. "Reckless? You think standing up for myself is reckless? Newsflash, Alexander, I’m not some puppet you can dangle on strings." He tilted his head, the faintest trace of amusement—or maybe irritation—dancing in his expression. "No, you’re not a puppet. “Keep moving,” the deep, threatening voice rumbled from the darkness of the hallway. I couldn't see their faces, but I could tell they were nervous by the quick movements they made as I pressed myself against the wall and felt the cold marble pierce my hands. No matter who they were, they didn’t fit in here. “What if we get discovered?” a second voice hissed sharply. "Then we complete the task," the first one responded, frigid and resolute. I took a deep breath, listening for their footsteps to diminish before I boldly glanced down the corridor. Two figures vanished around the corner, their motions intentional, perilous. A part of me shouted to return to the safety of my room, but curiosity—driven by fear—compelled me to follow them instead. The magnificent Levi mansion, featuring its intricate hallways and gold-plated walls, appeared gloomier than normal, its luxury overshadowed by a subtle, hidden danger. As I approached quietly, I caught a name that sent shivers down my

The mansion was peculiarly quiet, except for the sporadic noise of footsteps reverberating through the corridors. I paced back and forth in the opulent room they had provided me, my mind swirling with numerous ideas. Max Carter. Alexander. The delicate, perilous realm I currently lived in. How did I find myself in this situation? Was there any way out of the turmoil that had engulfed me entirely? As I looked out the window, a loud, sudden crash echoed from the hallway outside my door. My heart fluttered within my chest. The quietness that previously felt so stifling now appeared as a ticking time bomb. There was something off. I sensed it in the atmosphere. I naturally edged toward the door, my heartbeat increasing. A wave of panic tightened around my chest. Living in a perpetual state of fear of uncertainty was one matter; experiencing that fear approach ever so slowly, akin to a stalking predator, was quite another. We got into one of his chic black cars, and the driver quickly took us to another mansion, which was even more opulent than the last. I thought my life couldn’t become more complicated, yet I was wrong. Alexander had emphasized that my safety—and my situation—was far more complicated than I had ever imagined. When we arrived, I followed him inside, unsure of what to expect next. The place was stunning, but it felt like a different world altogether. The walls were lined with dark wood, expensive art, and antique furniture. But what struck me most was the silence. There was something haunting about this place—an eeriness that made the air feel thick with secrets.“Why are we here?” I asked finally, breaking the suffocating silence.“You’re safer here,” he replied, “Where is vee? Dysis maintained her upright posture even as her gut tightened at the sight of Sofie seated across from Lili, drinking tea with the grace of someone who knew she belonged. Sofie's smile was slow, deliberate, like a cat that had just seen a mouse. “Oh, what a wonderful surprise this is.” Sofie set her cup down, her well manicured nails clicking against the porcelain. "Dysis, sweetheart, I never would have expected to find you here." Lili grinned, her look incomprehensible. "Dysis arrived for a fitting. Not bad, Sofie?”That is fantastic. Sofie's eyes glanced over Dysis's plain yellow dress, her smile growing. Great. Undoubtedly. I was simply wondering how much she may benefit from a small bit of refinement. Dysis turned away from the bait. She glanced at the older woman and added, "I appreciate the help, Lili," smoothly. "I want to see everything flawless." Lili examined her for a time, then gave a gradual nod of approval. "That's a healthy way of thinking. After

Long after Alexander left the corridor, the silence there persisted, but the weight of his presence persisted like a storm unwilling to pass. Lucian rolled his shoulders as if releasing the ghost of Alexander's hold, then exhaled gently. Not from fear but from something deeper—something raw, unresolved—his heart continued to pound. He had seen it, Alexander's eyes flickering with uncertainty, his body stiffening at those final words. “You worry she will love someone else.” Lucian intended not to say it. But the truth had a tendency to escape when most important. Turning towards the balcony, his hands closed into fists. The cool night air touched his skin, but it had no effect to quell the fire raging within of him. Dysis. Her response had combined shock with something else—hesitation. The only sound came from the luxury car's faint hum of the engine. The dashboard was lighted by the golden sunlight as the background metropolis was whirling by. The car stayed frigid despite the nice illumination, which felt oppressive given all the unsaid emotions and sentiments. Dysis sat stiffly next to Alexander, her fingers holding the silky cloth of her dress. She needs to speak. She was about to say something. She felt that every single idea was focused on last night. Her thoughts kept playing on repeat the scorching sensation from his desperate kiss, the way his hands danced under her nightgown, and his harsh touch. Where he marked her still tingled and her body seemed to be on fire. He gave her a cursory look. Alexander was his normal self—expressionless and emotionally cold. Alexander's office was a tense place, the smell of good whisky and smooth leather mingling with a chill—something dangerous. Shadows danced across the deep mahogany walls as a fire whispered quietly in the hearth. It was a room designed for power, a place where underworld kings made their decisions. And this evening, it would witness something much more sinister. Sofie stood by the desk, composed yet self-satisfied, her tailored red dress clinging to every contour, the pronounced V-neck highlighting the grace of her figure. Her golden locks were elegantly styled in smooth waves, and her crimson nails drummed continuously on the surface of her phone. She was ready. With a grin teasing her lips, she pushed the phone across the desk. The display remained vivid, casting light on the incriminating scene—Dysis and Lucian, just inches apart, his hand poised near her cheek, their eyes entwined in an undeniably intimate connection. What was unsaid was more menacing than actual words on the Levi estate. Even after cursing it, it settled into the bones like a powerful curse. Along came Adam Levi to Alexander’s estate, where the underlying resentment and the distance of years instantly cloaked him like a thick blanket. For the first time in years, Alexander had agreed to see his father. It was an uncharacteristic move, one that had even Milo raising an eyebrow when he escorted Adam into Alexander’s private office.Alexander stood behind his desk, a vision of control in his tailored black suit, his icy-blue eyes as unreadable as ever. Adam, in contrast, carried his age with an aura of power only a man who had ruled the underworld could possess. His face was inscrutable, yet there was a glimmer in his eyes—something contained, something he had been suppressing."You've been looking for solutions," he said smoothly, getting up from the bed and walking toward the mahogany desk in the corner. The faint light from the chandelier created elongated shadows over his face, accentuating his already prominent features. "It’s time you began obtaining them." Her heartbeat roared in her ears. There were many unspoken words in Alexander's chamber. An unexpected tiredness settled deep in Dysis's bones after everything that had transpired. Even though the heat from the shower had only slightly reduced the stress in her muscles, a new type of tension replaced it as soon as Alexander carried her out. He moved fluidly across the room, holding her tightly but cautiously, as though she were something delicate—something valuable. Her pulse raced at the juxtaposition between this compassion and his previous fury. When he arrived at the bed, he carefully laid her down, wrapped her in a towel, and moved away."Keeping what little control he still had, he added, "Your clothes are on the bed."
