Chapter 62

Kieran's POV

“Alpha, we found something." Ryder's voice rang in my head and my hand at Kaia's side froze.

“Was it…?” I thought, "Be right there.” I replied, closing the mindlink and standing up.

"Is something wrong?” Kaia's soft voice asked and I shook my head.

“Ryder thinks he found something, so I'm going to take a look." I told her, placing a kiss on her lips and leaving the room before I get tempted to stay.

Shifting into my Lycan, I ran to the pack borders, reaching there in no time before shifting back. Ryder had his back turned to me, giving command to the warriors, who nodded as they diapers.

“Alpha." He called once he turned to face me.

“What did you find?"

He showed me a piece of clothing which was covered in blood. And the smell coming from it, just like we assumed, didn't belong to a rogue.

“We found this just outside the pack borders, so our best guess is that he's around somewhere, but injured. But he shouldn't have gone that far."

Chapter 63Kaia's POV Kieran has been spending more time in the dungeon and each time he gets back, he always has a frustrated look on his face. He had mentioned that they'd finally caught one of the rogues that was making the pack stand on edge but he wasn't admitting to working with anyone. I didn't know who he was, but I had one or two things to tell him about frustrating my man. Lylah still wasn't back and it was starting to make me doubt if she was ever going to come back. I didn't mention it to Kieran because he already had a lot of things he was dealing with. “Come on," Dani whined, “we need to do something fun, other than our normal routine." She grumbled, tugging my arms gently. The three of us just finished helping out at the hospital and we were tired since we spent most of the time on our feet and all I was thinking about was Kieran massaging them. “I agree,” Allie agreed, "I cannot remember the last time we did anything fun. I'm losing my youthful age h

Chapter 64Kaia's POV “I can't believe you didn't tell us!” Allie whined, pouting her lips like her favorite candy was snatched from her hands. My eyes dropped in guilt, “It kinda skipped my mind." I replied, my voice low. They paused, taking my countenance in, “Why don't you look excited? You should, you've always looked forward to shifting into your wolf." Dani said. I sighed deeply, “At that point, it hadn't sunk in yet, but I'm getting there. I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that I can actually shift and not just that, a rare wolf.” Their expression softened in understanding. I wanted to be able to see her once more to believe that the moon goddess didn't just grant my request because of Kieran and has taken her back. “I'm sure it'll sink in soon." Allie assured me and I nodded. “And members of this pack are lucky because if it was me, they wouldn't hear the end of it." She added. So, after the Pack's meeting the previous day , I met the doctor wh

Chapter 65 Kaia's POV “Dylan?" "Dylan!” I called, not wanting to believe that the person who looked almost unrecognizable was the same person I knew. His head jerked upward and he tried standing up when he heard his name, and I was right. My hand covered my mouth as I took in his state. His clothes were torn and covered with blood. Some of which looked like they've been there for a long time. His face was swollen. A faint smell of wolfsbane filled my nostrils, explaining why he wasn't completely healing even as a Beta. “Why are you here? Who did this to you?" I asked, my voice trembling at how bad he looked. "Kaia?” He let out in a horse tone. It was like talking became a struggle for him. Looking at him hurt, like air being sucked out of my lungs. “It's me." I replied, beating my chest softly. “Why are you here?" I asked again, now standing in front of his cell. A strained smile appeared on his face as he took in my appearance. “You're okay." He said, his l

Chapter 66Kieran's POV My meeting with the Alpha's ended, it was the same results. Nobody had heard about that kind of substance before, but I made sure they would keep their eyes open and inform me if they heard anything. Then I went down to the dungeon to see if the prisoner had changed his mind about keeping quiet…he hadn't. Next, I went to have a meeting with the warriors but that didn't end well when different emotions, belonging to Kaia hit me at once. “Are you okay?" I asked her through our mindlink, “your emotions are all over the place." But instead of a response, I felt a wall rising. She'd blocked me. I frowned, “what was going on?" The warriors could tell that something was wrong, but nobody asked me as I hurriedly left the meeting to go in search of her. I ran into Caleb, "Alpha? You're already here?” He asked me, his brows furrowing. He was supposed to be dealing with the other groups -The AXE Running a hand through my hair, I nodded. “Somet

Chapter 67Kaia's POV Dinner was over and Kieran was nowhere to be found. He'd blocked me out and I couldn't stop pacing around in the room. “This is why you shouldn't block people out, it drives the other party crazy.” I thought and Lylah snickered. At any tiny sound, my head jerks to the door hoping he would enter but there was no such luck. I felt my chest tightened at the thought of something happening to him. Did he run into the shooter again? “Why didn't you tell me if I was going far?" I queried Lylah. She snorted loudly, “You call that far? You went overboard, defying him in front of his members and then you took your step brother's side…do you want more?” "Then why didn't you stop me?” "Would you have stopped if I asked you to?" I kept quiet, she had a point. I had been so concerned about how Dylan was to care about anything else and now, calming down to play everything all over again, I knew that I really have overdone it this time. “Can you reach K

Chapter 68 Kaia's POV For some reason, I still couldn't stop thinking about Dylan, if he was okay and how he got into the situation in the first place. But telling Kieran was out of it. I barely survived one day with him being mad at me, I'm sure it'd be worse if it happens again. Now that Lylah was back, Kieran was taking active steps to finding out what else Lylah could do apart from healing. He didn't want to assume that all that came up in the records they found was all she could do. Besides, I haven't noticed anything else and I haven't shifted since then either. “What are you thinking so hard about?" Ryder said, sitting beside me on the couch. Kieran had gone with the pack doctor to discuss other details that I definitely wasn't interested in, so I stayed back in his office and so did Ryder. “Nothing," came my sharp reply. “Do you believe that?" My shoulder slumped as I rested my back against the couch. “I don't know. No matter how hard I try, I can't

Chapter 69Kaia's POV “Dani!" I yelled. "What's going on, Lylah?” I asked my wolf, my body trembling. "I don't know either, I can sense that something is wrong, that's all.” "Do you know where she is?” I asked again. She didn't reply, instead, she showed me the directions to go. I was running like something was after me, making some of the pack members turn to look at me, but I didn't care as I kept running. Lylah yelled the direction to go which I followed without a word. The more we kept going, the more confusion set in. It wasn't even up to five minutes that she left me but I've been running for over that but she was nowhere to be found. Soon, I was almost at the forest which was far away from the pack house, and closer to the borders. My worry intensified when I still couldn't find her. If we were this close to the borders and her scent had gotten all the way here, “was she still in the Pack?" Shaking the thoughts away, “she has to be." A familiar voice

Chapter 70Kieran's POV “How the fuck did they get inside the pack and no one knew?” I demanded, my voice rising in anger. “There are patrol warriors at the borders, how did they get past them?” Frustration evident on my features. As the strongest pack ever known, I took pride in the safety of my members no matter what, but now, right under my nose, they were hurt. “I don't think they passed through the borders, Alpha.” Ryder said. He was just as frustrated as I was. Dani had gotten hurt, it could be anyone next time. And they had the nerve to even send a message. “You think they were already inside?" "That's the only reasonable explanation for this. I've had the warriors on double shifts since we caught uhmm…Luna's brother.” My head snapped to him, "Step brother.” "Sorry Alpha.” I let out a groan as I was going away from the main topic. If they were already inside, it raises a lot of questions. “Were they also members of my pack or have they been in the pack j

Chapter 81 Kaia's POV While waiting for the full moon to be able to get the ironbloom flower so that a solution can be made, Kieran had also been busy, coming up with strategies on the best way to go about it. Part of which means that only trusted warriors knew about it. If they were really in the pack, it was best to take them by surprise. But because of this, I'd barely seen Kieran apart from when he comes in to sleep. And it was frustrating to say the least. “You should stay with Dani today." I told Nessa, who was insisting on going with me to the pack hospital. “The last thing you want to see is blood and bones." “I can handle it." She assured me. But I shook my head, “we'll be back before you know it." I told her and this time, she listened. Allie and I made our way to the hospital. They needed more hands, especially with how intense their training was in the past few days. “The girl likes you, it's cute.” Allie said, "it shows how much she trusts you.”

Chapter 80 Kieran's POV As I sat in my office, waiting for Caleb who thinks he'd found something, my mind played over the conversation with my parents the previous day. My dad, who showed up unexpectedly after being away for an even longer time than my mom. He was disappointed that I would speak to his mate-my mom that way and I was also disappointed that even now, he would take her side but whatever disappointment they were feeling was the last thing I wanted to deal with at the moment. Although neither she nor my dad offered an explanation for the incident with the witches which led to their banishment and if anything, it made me realize that I was right about something not making sense. And because of that, I was looking at it all wrong. “Alpha," Caleb called, snapping me out of my thoughts as he entered the room, his expression not giving away what he might've found. He took the seat in front of me and beside Ryder who had being in a mood all day. “What did you

Chapter 79Kaia's POV I let out another sigh for the umpteenth time that morning, causing the girls to look up at me, worry etched on their faces. They had an idea of what happened the previous day…at this point, I'm sure everyone has an idea what went down with how loud their voices were. It felt like the walls were going to drop and I had to deal with an extremely horny wolf…she found Kieran's authority sexy. I mean, it was but I couldn't afford to drool when he was going at it with his dad. His dad has to be the biggest…no, huge is the word. I wondered how he got anything in his size. “Okay, what is it?" Allie asked, when another sigh escaped my lips. I looked up at her, “what do I do?" I asked and a frown appeared on their faces. “Your dad was really angry yesterday. I barely got a wink of sleep no matter how hard I tried." “And just like I told you, there's nothing for you to worry about." Allie started, placing both hands on my shouldes. "That was just two

Chapter 78 Kieran's POV “A witch, really!" My mom yelled, pushing her way into my office despite Allie's insistence against it. I raised my head to look at her without an expression on my face. I love how she thinks she could come into my office like it was her room. Since the meeting with the elders which didn't go the way she wanted to, I haven't seen her…until now that is. “Excuse us." I ordered. Ryder looked at me for a few seconds before bowing and leaving the room. My sister wore a worried look but I mind-linked her, assuring her that it was okay and she didn't have anything to worry about. Kaia, who was laying in my arms also stood up, but my hand around her tightened and I didn't miss the confused look that appeared on her face. “Why is she still here?" My mom asked. “Because she is my mate and Luna, and you will treat her as such." I replied, my voice coming out low and harsh. Sitting upright, I pushed myself up and went towards my desk, pulling on

Chapter 77Kaia's POV The door burst open, revealing Kieran and Ryder. My hand around Dylan quickly dropped to my side as I stepped away from him. I'm certain that at this point Kieran was done with Dylan and was probably contemplating how to hang him somewhere. “What's going on here?" Kieran asked, his eyes looking past me, glaring at Dylan. By now, the two of them had separated and were now avoiding looking at Kieran. Only if they had listened to me in the first instance, this would've gone a completely different way. “I was just introducing them to my brother.” I lied, moving to stand in front of him. Dani snorted, but she attempted to cover it with a cough but failed miserably. We'll talk about that later. “I came to check up on her like you asked and we were just leaving.” Allie said, finally getting over whatever came on her earlier. Of course, he didn't buy it. He turned to Ryder, whose eyes were glued to Allie, who was also pretending not to notice him, and

He asked, raising his voice, his eyes widening like they were going to pop out of their sockets. I shrugged, “are you sure you hit him because he's walking around the pack like nothing happened." He let out a low growl, I could tell that I was already getting on his nerves. Not that it was anything new. “I've never missed, and I made sure to hit him twice. He fell to the ground, the poison definitely affecting him." He said, but my eyes only remained on him without saying anything. Everyone knew that Alpha Kieran was obsessed with his mate and as much as I hated to admit it, it was pretty obvious to anyone with eyes. So imagine my surprise when it came out that she was nowhere to be found. Nobody said anything out loud, but I heard whispers from the members that she ran away. Alpha Kieran was so distraught and it was the best to strike.

But it was a question I've asked myself over and over time. I don't think I did anything to him…apart from being weak, but that didn't affect him personally. Everyone knew we weren't really related, so he couldn't claim that he was ashamed. “Hate you? Why would you think that?" "You're seriously asking me that?” I deadpanned. "We spent years being siblings and this is our first normal conversation that doesn't have me trembling.” He looked away, "it doesn't mean…I didn't hate you." He said, a sigh escaping his lips. “I don't hate you." I raised an eyebrow at him, my hands crossed in front of me. “You want me to believe that? You're going to have to make it believable." “Damn girl! You do know how to take care of yourself." Lylah said, and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes a

"Yes, she convinced me to talk to Dylan earlier, but she was also certain I could talk to whomever I wanted to. I haven't had the chance to test it out yet.” His smile quickly disappeared, and was replaced by a frown as he sat upright. "You spoke to Dylan?" His voice came out higher. Do I make myself clear?" My voice firm. "Yes, Alpha.” He replied, "I've told you ever…" he continued, but paused when Caleb glared at him. “How did you hide your scent for that long?” I asked, that seemed like the best place to start. He paused, his eyes widened in confusion as he looked between the three of us. “I had help…ermm.” He trailed off. When he didn't continue, I took slow strides towards him, a smirk playing on my lips. He must think I was here to spend time with him. Caleb passed me a bottle of wolfsbane and once he saw it, his expression faltered, but was back on almost immediately. He then paused, like he w
