Jannie , like Iris had called, began to sashay her way into the kitchen, her heels clicking loudly on the tiles.
The atmosphere in the kitchen froze. The lady looked like she didn't even notice, like she had something to say to me, but was cut off by Alice. "Jenny, please get out of here." Iris said coldly. She gave Iris a scornful look, turned to Catherine who was glaring daggers at her. Jannie straightened, her expression simply turning dull. I kept staring at this strange woman, who was making the atmosphere seem tense. Her murderous look returned once she pinned me with a look. "Hi." She muttered, and in a matter of seconds, her murderous look was gone, replaced with a soft expression which made me blink twice in astonishment. It was as though she was suddenly another person. "Well, your hi isn't welcome. Can you get out now?" Iris interrupted, taking a step, blocking Janie's view on me. "I just want to talk to her-" "Get lost, Jannie. Don't you dare try to cause any trouble." Iris then turned to give me a look. I had no idea what sort of expression that was but whatever it was... it unsettled me. I sheepishly returned the look Jannie was giving me, then turned to stare at my mother-in-law, who looked like she couldn't wait to grill the girl. My wolf didn't seem to like this Jannie, either. Jannie's expression turned downcast, and I had no idea if it was fake or not. I had no idea if she had gotten to even hear my wolf's growls. Then I watched her leave. The air turned awkward and I didn't want to make it more awkward by asking crazy questions. Just after dinner, I stood on the balcony, feeling the night air caressing my face. The stars were so clear and bright, I could almost reach out and touch them. The air was sweet with the scent of roses and jasmine, which were blooming in pots on the balcony. I felt myself relaxing, letting the worries of the day drift away. I started humming a tune softly, enjoying the moment of peace and serenity. I was surrounded by beauty, both natural and man-made. The thought of Giovanni coming back to the room made my heart skip and then tighten. I was like the worst thing that has ever happened to him. I wouldn't blame him either. I didn't like the way I was either. I want to be stronger, want my wolf manifested, do extraordinary things that would face-slap those of them who hurt me but how can My ears picked up the sound of a knock on the door, which made me slightly jump. My stomach knotted, my breaths shallow. Oh dear, what does Giovanni want now? Then it reoccurred to me that this was also his room. Had his mother scolded him? Was he about to unleash his fury on me? My legs turned heavy as I pulled them to the door. Gulping uncomfortably, l opened the door only for me to freeze. Jannie was staring right back at me, with an uneasy smile on her face. What does she want by this time of the day? "Hey." Jannie waved. I returned it with a shallow smile. "Do you need something?" "May I come in?" I shifted away from the door to let her in and then shut the door, pointing at the nearby sofa. "Please, make yourself comfortable." She thanked me as she sat, waiting for me to sit as well. " My name is Jannie. Jannie Marson in full." She began, and I had no idea what to say next. My wolf growled at her again. I simply shrugged, giving her an unbothered look. Her face fell and she straightened. "I know you must have heard alot about me. From your expression, I really can tell... haha." She gave a nervous laugh and rubbed her arm. "I know this sounds strange and weird to you but l'm also feeling uncomfortable as well. It's about Giovanni." Oh! So it was because of Giovanni? I don't even want to know anything about him right now. My expression turned solemn as I watched her but she must have misunderstood what my expression meant as Jannie turned more tense. "Don't misunderstand whatever it's been said about us. Giovanni and I are just like siblings. I'd only liked him when I was a kid and that was before I found my mate." She gave a tight smile. I simply nodded. Jannie sighed. "I'm the daughter of the ex-beta, my father had died saving Giovanni." She made a sniffing sound and my heart broke for her. I gave a sad smile, not knowing how to console her. "I'm so sorry-" "That's okay. I'm alright. Although it hurts, it's a long memory. Papa died when I was little. Liam then became my only family. I have a mother but she's nothing but a woman who doesn't even know I exist. I'm so happy my brother, Giovanni, has finally found his Luna." Her face suddenly brightens. I gave a tight smile. "I'm sorry Giovanni treats you so badly but I wouldn't blame him either. Giovanni. isn't used to having a Luna, as he hasn't had a formal woman by his side, ever since l've come to know him." I slowly nodded, although I didn't know where this was actually going, although what she said was believable. Her face fell again and I watched her closely. "I know Iris doesn't like me, as well as her mom but I sincerely hope one day, we'd be like a real family." This time I gave a genuine smile. This Jannie must be such a sweet soul. She has seen such tough days and should be properly taken care of. Standing up, I walked to Jannie, said nothing and embraced her in a tight hug only for her to stiffen. Perhaps, she couldn't believe I would try to ever embrace her. "You're so welcome to be my friend. Come find me anytime, you feel you need to speak to someone." She beamed with great satisfaction, and was about to say something when a knock landed on the door again. Her face fell and my heartbeat quickened. Stilling my expression, I moved to get the door, only to see Iris standing at the door with a dark expression. Walking past me, my heart skipped on seeing her march furiously toward Jannie. Before I could speak, tris lunged for her, pushing Jannie, making her back hit the sofa. "Bitch!" Iris snarled. "What did I warn you about staying away from her?" "Iris calm down." My eyes flew wide as I came in between them. "She just came to clear the air-" Iris snapped. "Oh about what-" "That's okay. I'll take my leave. I'll talk to you later, Penelope." Jannie hastily spoke, as though she was scared of something ring spoken, her voice breaking and before I could stop her, she was already at the door, leaving through it. "She's not who you think she is, Penelope. You need to be careful." Iris warned, and just like that she left as well. Her words struck me like a whip, 1 found myself freezing. What was Iris trying to imply? This was confusing my poor brain. I just couldn't understand the strained relationship with Iris and Jannie, I indeed Jannie had grown up with Giovanni. Perhaps Jannie was indeed fake? What about Iris, wa she fake as well? I groaned on feeling an oncoming headache. Kaia suddenly growled in anger, furrowing my brows. "What now?" | asked my wolf in frustration, and she snarled. "Giovanni's scent is on her. Our mate's scents are on her." She whimpered in pain. I frowned deeply, in confusion. There was nothing going on between Janie and Giovanni. I would have heard. Besides, people's scent could be on others, just through merely hugs and other slight body contact, like shoulder brushing. Brushing away Kaia's words, 1 moved to slump on the bed, shutting my eyes.Several days passed by and yet I couldn't recall when I last had enough rest. From the information given, I was told how Jannie was strangely going close to Penelope, and always asking her to hang out, making me slightly uncomfortable but I didn't bother to probe her intentions because I was so preoccupied with the latest situation in the pack, as we had been attacked yet again. Jannie knew she was going to get it from me if she dares to fucking misbehave. Past 3pm, I was already back at the office, entirely spent. To my surprise, Jannie was already there, sitting in my chair with a transparent crop top and a short gown that displayed her thick thighs. My eyes darkened. "You need something?" | grated out, unbuttoning one button on my shirt as I poured myself some water. Her eyes darkened with lust as she licked her lips. "I'm here to serve you, Daddy." Disgust filled me with the tone she used, I glared at her. "We made it clear that-" "Shh... let me do the talking. Penelope
For the first time in my life, I was frozen in place, my mind racing. I tasted metallic and then swallowed it. My dangerous glare moved from Penelope to Leon who had punched me. I couldn't even believe what I had just heard, my mouth slightly hanging open in shock. My eyes moved back to Penelope. My jaw clenched and my eyes narrowed. I tried to form words, but nothing came out. My thoughts were jumbled, my brain trying to process what had just happened. I felt like I was in a dream, unable to speak or move. All I could do was stare at Penelope. Her nerve of rejecting me. I wanted to lash at her. I wanted to ask her who the fuck she was to reject me. For the first time in my life, I felt worthless, that someone had rejected me. Not just someone but a fragile female, who had deceived me. I had rejected so many women in the past, played with many, they ended up kissing the ground I walked on, rejected so many marriage proposals and yet this fragile lady had in turn reject
I am leaving. Finally I looked at my reflection in the mirror, and I barely recognized the person looking back at me. My skin was pale, my eyes hollow and dull. There was a bruise on my left cheek, a reminder of the pain I had endured. My right arm was bandaged, a small red stain on the white fabric. I felt like a ghost of my former self, a shell without substance. I couldn’t couldn't remember the last time I looked in the mirror and smiled at the person looking back at me. I was tired, broken, defeated. I felt like a failure, and I hated myself for it. My wounds were slow to heal but who was I to blame? Me! I was so pathetic that I couldn't even morph with my wolf. I was aching with so much pain. I stared around the room I was in. I was back in Giovanni's mansion after two more days of being hospitalized. None of my family members had contacted me. I would never be surprised if my father said to my face that he wanted me dead. I only agreed to return back here to pack
Chapter 10: Giovanni POV I was dumbfounded! Shocked! A mere fragile woman had slapped me, not just slapped me but slapped me into silence. And for the first time in my life, I found it extremely amusing. Who would have thought a day would come when a woman would hit someone as ruthless as I am and wouldn't have her fucking neck detached from her body. I would even kill the seer who would dare try to foretell this bullshit. I blinked and re-blinked but it was no dream. Penelope had fucking slapped me and it had strangely stung. My mother hadn't even raised her hands on me but this fragile looking woman did, fearlessly. Her eyes were blazing with fire and I found it oddly cute. My head was spinning as her scent kept hitting my sense of smell. I couldn't even think straight. I wanted to snarl, snap at her, yell and probably teach her a lesson but all my head could think of were the nasty, filthy things I wanted to do to her while pinning her against this wall. I felt my mus
Chapter 11 Penelope "W-What?" My head was beginning to ring with thousands of warning bells, and my eyes widened in horror as I saw a tall man slowly begin to approach me. His expression was cold and in his hand, he held a mace, swinging it freely. I couldn't help but gulp at the thought of damage that thing in his hand would do to me. And for heaven's sake! I couldn't even heal like these shifters. What's wrong with these people and their heads? Before I could turn to Iris and protest, she gave me a sign language not to talk. My heart kept racing. I started sweating. This was so bad. Why would they even think I was some sort of warrior princess? "Luna Penelope accepts your challenge." Iris said giving me a look. My eyes widened, almost coming out of their sockets. Iris turned to the unknown man and muttered. "Nate, be gentle to our Luna." “ Do you want to choose a weapon or do I select one for you?" What was she even doing? Iris bent down, surveying the racks of weapons
Series of growls and rumbles left my throat as I waited for Penelope to convince her mate to let me speak to mine. I was restless and anxious. What if that hardhearted Giovanni doesn't even agree? "Kaia?" I stilled for a second and waited for whoever had called to repeat my name. "Kaia?" The voice called again. My tail wagged happily behind, me my tongue lolling out of my mouth. My ears perked up, flicking back and forth as I took in the voice of my mate. I howled happily, and wished I could merge fully with Penelope, to take full control. I gave a playful bark which showed how much I loved this moment, and he returned it. "I've always wanted to meet you... talk to you, cuddle you... I can't believe it's finally happening. Although we haven't cuddled yet. Haha! But I feel excited." I fast talked, scared Giovanni might leave the room any time soon. Braxton laughed, his laughter tingling my heart. "I love you too..." My cheeks warmed. "Please don't leave here. Don't let Pe
I took back a step back, pushing away from Giovanni, my heart pounding as I looked at him. His arms hung awkwardly at his sides, a look of confusion and guilt spreading across his face. His lips parted as if he were about to speak, but he quickly closed them again. His eyes glared at the door with utmost hatred, and I could tell he wished to kill the guard this instant. To him, the guard had come at the wrong time but to me! This was perfect timing. His eyes moved back to me, he stiffened, his fists clenched by his sides. I saw the conflict in his eyes, a struggle between the desire to beg me to stay and the shame of his actions. But I couldn't bring myself to feel anything but anger. And Hatred. He had betrayed my trust, again and again! And no amount of pleading would change that. I felt stupid. Dirty! Used! I should have listened to my head but I listened to my treacherous body and my crazy wolf, who wanted nothing but her mate. My wolf chose at that moment to whine f
"Okay, time to do this." I breathed in, stepping into the training ground after three weeks of trying to find out what needed to be learnt in the training ground. I saw the females changing into their training gears, after coercing Leon to make them according to my designs. Beaming, I stood watching them all and once they sensed me, their eyes moved to me, halting on their movements but I waved for them to hurry up. And they did. Few minutes passed before I clapped to gain their attention. They all began to gather, I couldn't help but feel a little bit nervous. "Today, we're going to be learning how to use more modernized weapons," I announced. "These weapons are more advanced than anything you've seen before, but don't worry, I'll be right here to guide you through it." I pulled out a handgun, showing for them to hurry up. And they did. Few minutes passed before I clapped to gain their attention. They all began to gather, I couldn't help but feel a little bit nervous. "To
