Chapter 8: You’re not my boyfriend!

Karen Goodwill's hostility to him makes Gordon Williams not happy at all, even the guy next to her - Jim Ramsay also seemed to sense something is wrong now. However, looking at the disappointment in Karen Goodwill’s eyes, Jim Ramsay can guess that the relationship between Karen and the famous CEO, who is considered a playboy, is completely unambiguous. At least, from Karen Goodwill's side, she seems to reject the excessive intimacy of Gordon Williams. 

“Hello, my name is Jim Ramsay. It’s not so nice to meet you today, but if you insist, you may grab a cup of coffee with us.”

For Gordon Williams, Jim Ramsay's tone was extremely obnoxious. He can feel the condescension and irony in those words, and the fact that Jim Ramsay is walking beside Karen Goodwill, all of which make Gordon Williams want to slam into Jim Ramsay and fight with him.

“Hi, I'm Gordon Williams, going on a date with Ms. Karen Goodwill right now. We are going to hang out, as Ms. Karen promised. And I believe Ms. Karen is not the one to break her promise. Right, Karen?”

Gordon Williams used his last patience to face Jim Ramsay. He knows that a normal friend will not stand between him and Karen. If Jim had no hostility towards him, he would have left as soon as Gordon arrived and invited Karen to lunch. 

Karen Goodwill seems to smell gunpowder in the air around her, and she is extremely tired of Gordon Williams and Jim Ramsay's boyish behavior. She takes a step forward, and speaks softly to Jim Ramsay:

“Jim, I was actually invited by Mr. Gordon. You invited me to lunch today, and I am very happy about that. But maybe we have to reschedule it.”

Jim Ramsay is of course not amused by Karen Goodwill's words, although she did use her soft and gentle voice to talk to him. Moreover, seeing Gordon Williams' smug smile, Jim Ramsay is not happy at all.

"Sir Jim Ramsay, if you don't mind, and are polite, please step aside!"

Gordon Williams suddenly behaves like a boy. He steps closer to the two of them, then pushes Jim Ramsay aside and stands between him and Karen Goodwill.

"Childish!"

Karen Goodwill mumbles, but Gordon still hears it. He is not angry, on the contrary, he finds Karen very interesting. As if he has received Karen Goodwill's consent, Gordon Williams flashes a satisfied smile, reaching his elbow to her like he wants to invite her to take his arm. Karen is quite embarrassed, she appears indifferent and ignores him, then stepps forward. She is constantly wondering since when Gordon Williams has become so childish. 

Jim Ramsay is regretting letting Gordon Williams and Karen Goodwill leave the university campus. He looked at the two's backs, his heart filled with jealousy.

"Wait, Karen!"

Thinking for a moment, not letting Gordon Williams take Karen Goodwill too far away, Jim Ramsay calls after her. Karen turns around to look at him with her eyes full of confusion, Gordon is extremely annoyed at the same time. Jim Ramsay chases after the two of them and whispers in Karen's ear but loud enough for Gordon to hear:

"You still have my number saved in your cell phone, don't you? If any trouble happens to you, I don't mind if you call me for a hand. I'll definitely come to you. Karen, I don't want you to be involved in this mess of the upper class. You know, he's a married man and his wife... She is not a soft and gentle woman."

Jim Ramsay's words made Gordon Williams completely lose his patience. He invited Karen Goodwill to lunch and she promised to spend time with him. But, what the hell is going on here? Where the hell does this weird, annoying and goddamn Jim Ramsay come from? He blatantly obstructs Gordon Williams, which Gordon Williams absolutely hates!

Recent events drive Gordon crazy. The first was the quarrel between him and Mr. Williams, then the divorce rumors between him and Sophia Joyner spread in the newspapers, completely causing the shares value of the Williams Gems Group to drop. Sophia Joyner is still hiding somewhere, and has never had a decent conversation with him. He is now feeling like a bomb is about to explode in his chest.

Gordon Williams steps in front of Jim Ramsay and his eyes are bloodshot. Gordon's grips Jim Ramsay's collar with a hand in front of the curious eyes of the crowd in the university campus. Many people still carry cameras.

"You are so talkative!" Said Gordon Williams: "Who are you to interfere in my business? Tell me, don't touch Karen, or you'll taste failure!"

"Hold on, sir. What are you gonna do here?" 

Awaring of Gordon Williams' furiousness, Jim Ramsay leaves Karen Goodwill behind and moves forward to Gordon Williams. He looks at Gordon's deep blue eyes, which are now full of jealousy, and whispers with the challenging tone. 

"You are in a marriage relationship with Ms. Williams, aren't you? And today you come here, get mad at me and want to flirt with a beautiful young lady. Do you feel that it's so ridiculous?" Said Jim Ramsay with eyes full of sarcasm.

Jim Ramsay is aware he was in trouble himself, but he shows no fear of Gordon Williams. He is a prominent lawyer, and a teacher of Karen Goodwill. What can Gordon Williams do to him? Fighting wits? The loser is still Gordon Williams.

Gordon Williams knows this annoying man wants to ruin his date with Karen Goodwill. So he does not want to argue pointlessly with the bad man in front of him. At that moment, to Jim Ramsay's surprise, the anger in Gordon Williams' eyes turned to smugness. Gordon Williams makes no reply to Jim Ramsay, and to his great astonishment, to Karen Goodwill's surprise, and to the excitement of the crowd on the university campus, Gordon Williams suddenly hugs Karen Goodwill and places a passionate kiss on her lips.
