Serafine's POV
“What the fuck…” I heard Pearl growl within me, she was enraged at how Silas, our mate, had betrayed us.
I balled my fist as fury surged through my bones, I turned around and was about to leave when I heard a firm “NO!” inside me.
Pearl continued, “No, Serafine, we can't let this go… you have to go confront him.”
I nodded my head, Pearl was right, I wiped my tears and stormed up to them.
Silas was shocked to see me, the other pack members started to murmur to each other as I walked up to Silas.
“Here… you forgot your phone,” I said, handing his phone to him with a calm smile on my face.
Silas gulped and took the phone from my hand, his eyes searching mine, I knew he was wondering how much I had heard.
“I heard it all… Silas,” I growled at him.
He bit his bottom lip and shut his eyes as I said those words.
I balled my fist, “Hello everyone, I present to you, Silas's mate,” I said, spreading out my arms as I turned around for them all to see me.
Their jaws dropped, and they began to murmur again within themselves.
“Serafine stop…” Silas tried to hold my arm, but I turned to him with a fierce look and he gritted his teeth and stepped back.
I breathed in sharply, my eyes burned as I stared at Silas, I closed it tightly as I struggled to hold back my tears.
I opened my eyes and growled as Silas, “I, Serafine Collins, reject you, Silas King as my mate.”
I could hear the gasp from the pack members as shock gripped them.
“How dare you!” Silas growled through gritted teeth, I could tell that he was in pain, from the rejection.
I turned and stormed back to my home.
As I ran back to my house, I kept my head down and hastened up my steps. I didn't want anyone to see me in this condition.
I bumped into someone, and I landed on my butt, a sharp twig poked into my arm as I landed on the ground.
“Ouch,” I winced as I pulled out the twig in my palm.
“Hey, look where you are going, bitch!”
I looked up to see the person towering over me and I saw Riele, the alpha's daughter.
“Oh no… why her?” I thought as I rolled my eyes and got up to my feet, I dusted my butt and was about to leave when she pulled me by my hair back.
“Ouch… stop it Riele,” I said and pushed her off me, glaring at her.
She noticed my wet, puffy, and red eyes and she scoffed, “Oh what's making you cry, poor girl,” she asked with a fake look of concern on her face.
I gulped and looked down as I tried to wipe my eyes dry.
“Did someone break your heart?” She asked and I sucked in air through my teeth and balled my fist.
“Oh, that reminds me… you and Silas, I heard a rumor that you both were together, is that true?”
I breathed in and turned around ready to leave when she stepped in front of me.
“Well, just so you know, Silas is really good in bed.”
I staggered back in shock.
“Ahh,” she moaned with her eyes closed as she ran her hand over her arm and up her neck.
I bit down on my bottom lip as rage built up in me, I balled my fist and blinked back the tears that were threatening to pour out.
It's of no use crying over a cheat, I sucked in air through my teeth and raced off.
I heard Riele laughing hysterically behind me.

“What are you doing here?” my father asked with a stern look on me as I walked inside my family's home.
“Father… I… I,” I stuttered as I stopped in my tracks.
“Serafine, why are you here?” My mother asked, cutting me off, as she walked up to me.
I looked back at my mother and pursed my lips, “Mother, I am back home now, I rejected Silas.”
My mother's jaw fell open in shock, I was about to explain when I felt a thrashing slap land on my cheek.
My eyes watered as my cheeks burned, and the metallic taste of blood filled my mouth.
I held my cheeks, “Mother… you didn't even ask what happened?” I asked with a shaky voice.
“It doesn't matter what happens!” My father thundered and I flinched, “You have no right to reject a man who is next in line for the beta position!!”
“But… Father…” I tried to talk but my mother yelled at me.
“Shut up, you miserable child… who do you think you are to be selective, you are not even up to standards, you should be grateful you found a mate of such high status in the first place.”
I looked down and sniffed, I bit my bottom lip as I tried to hold the fresh batch of tears forming in my eyes, but I couldn't, my chest and shoulders shook as the tears poured down my cheeks.
A sudden kick on the front door made us all turn towards it, Silas's parents stormed in with two guards by their sides.
I shuddered as I saw the look on their eyes, I began to step back slowly but Mrs. King reached me and slapped me aggressively across my face, sending me to the floor.
I held my cheek which was throbbing in pain and turned to face her.
“How dare you humiliate my son in public?” she thundered.
“I am so…” I tried to speak when she rushed you to me and yanked my hair back.
“Ahh,” I groaned in pain.
Mrs King widened her eyes as she bent down in front of me, her dark green eyes gave off a reddish hue, and I could see that she was furious.
She held my jaw and pressed it, her claw digging into my face, “Who do you think you are to reject my son… my only son!”
She flung my face to the side and I held my jaw, groaning in pain.
Mr. King pulled his wife back, “Do not stain your hands by touching this dirt… let our guards do the job.”
“Guard get her… take her to the dungeon!”
My heart sank to the pit of my stomach as I gulped, the guards were approaching me and I tried to get up and run, but they pressed me down and dragged me away.
I turned to my parents, they stood there looking at me coldly without saying a word to defend me, I bit my bottom lip as I realized my fate was sealed.
I knew I couldn't stand up against the pack's beta.
“Shift Serafine, let me help you,” Pearl said.
I shook my head, No Pearl, I can't let them hurt you too.
Pearl growled in anger inside of me as they pulled me away.

We got to the dungeon and they threw me against the cold concrete floor, I gritted my teeth as I tried to brace myself for the fall, but I bruised my knees as I landed on them.
“Chain her up,” Mrs. King ordered the guards.
They pulled me up to a wall where the chains were and chained me, I raised my eyes and saw Silas walk into the dungeon, I gritted my teeth as I glared at him.
A blow landed on my face that made me spit blood to the side. I turned to see Mrs. King holding a steel pipe in her hand.
She lifted the pipe and it landed on my back, “Ahh…” I groaned as I fell on the floor.
“Apologize to him… Now!” She yelled and gave me another blow on my head.
I managed to raise my head and saw Silas relaxing on the side of the dungeon with his arms crossed, I gritted my teeth as anger coursed through my bones.
“NO!!” I growled out loud.
“THEN YOU DIE!!” Mrs. King yelled at me and another blow landed on my head and my eyes rolled to the back of my head as I passed out.

My head hurt, and I could feel pain all over my body. I lay on the cold floor contemplating if I should open my eyes or if I should just go to my maker.
I knew I would face more torture from that witch if she found out that I had regained consciousness.
I felt a touch on my mold, it was pressed slightly and I froze, who the hell was touching me?
I felt another hand under my dress and on my folds, he spread my legs apart, shifted my panties, and slipped his finger deep in me and I gulped, within the nick of time I felt my dress tear off me.
“Fuck,” I heard him groan and I felt his lips crashing on the side of my neck.
"You are free to choose your path, Abigail. You are stronger than his lies."The voice of Serafine sounded in my head-a small beacon of light tearing through the darkness that had consumed my mind for far too long. I felt the magic of Lucian clutching at my throat, seeking to snuff out the light, but something buried deep within me had started to stir-a truth hidden even from myself. The visions that had wracked my mind finally dissipated, and I saw Lucian's face, twisted in anticipation. He thought he had me, that he'd won, but he had no idea yet.I drew a deep breath and let the tumult of what was happening around us fade to a silent hush. Now or never. "You're right, Lucian," I said, willing my tone to stay even. "I do know what I must do."His face twisted in a triumphing leer. "Then fulfill your destiny," he hissed, reptilian.I met his stare, eyes slitting. "I already have."Before Lucian could even react, I harnessed a surge of magic deep within me and let it explode, shatteri
As we entered deep into the tunnel , the walls seemed to close in on us. Every step that we took resounded against the blackness. With every minute, the air grew heavier as we re-approached the stronghold of Lucian, taut with tension, as every step weighed upon me. I wasn't sure if I was ready to face him; there was just no more time left for doubts. The course of events that would ensue would seal my family's fate. and maybe even my own.As we emerged from the final tunnel, the entrance to Lucian's lair loomed ahead: a dark fortress built into the side of the cavern wall. Shadows seemed to gather around it, twisting and curling like smoke. A shiver crawled down my spine as we approached, but I forced myself to stay calm. We had a plan, even if it was full of risks. We burst through the main entrance, our magic flaring to life as we fought our way inside. The clash of spells and clash of swords was heavy in the air as Lucian's forces swarmed us. I fought beside Damien, my heart r
"We have to go after them!"Still, the last words of Damien were echoing in my ears when I finally found a moment to slip from the crowd. I pounded inside my chest, not just from the fight, but from the turmoil inside me-from Owen's betrayal-but something clanged furiously in my head. The storm at my center tore me asunder.Down a catwalk, I came to a small alcove where the darkness just about ate up any light. The cool stone walls bit into my back as I leaned against them trying to calm my breathing and the thoughts that raced through my mind. Just as I closed my eyes, a voice whispered from behind me in the dark."You look troubled, Abigail."My eyes flew open, and in that instant, my pulse shot up as finally the man stepped out of the shadows. The air seemed to have grown cold with his presence, his eyes shining with both mirth and something darker."What do you want?" I asked, trying not to let my voice show the shaking inside me.He leaned his head, lips curling into a thin s
"Make your choice."The lieutenant's voice continued to ring in my mind, even as I ran wildly through the tunnels, my breathing rough. My heart pounded in my chest, and for one wild moment, the dark temptation of his offer pressed upon me. Betray Serafine and the pack… save myself. It was a coward's choice, a traitor's path. But a small part of me, the part of me that had doubted whether I was strong enough to protect them-whispered that maybe it could be our chance. No, I told myself sharply. I couldn't let my mind go there. I pushed it away and refocused on finding the others. I would never betray my family no matter how bad things got.Rounding a corner, I nearly collided with Damien. Relief danced across his face to see me, yet was speckled with urgency. "Daniel, thank the Moon you're here. We need to regroup—Lucian's forces are closing in fast."I nodded and fell into step beside him as we sprinted down the tunnel. The sounds of far-off fighting got louder with every step.
The earth around me opened with so much fierceness, a low rumbling that seemed to tear the very earth asunder. Before I could even turn, the ground had split, and I was tumbling into chaos. I landed on hard earth, the impact knocking the air from my lungs. It was all chaos, dust, falling rocks, the sound of distant shouting echoing off cavern walls. As I struggled to my feet, the dust began to settle and my eyes adjusted to the dim light filtering down from above.I froze, the image around me blurring as my mind tried to wrap itself around what was happening. We fell into some sort of large underground chamber, ancient and hauntingly beautiful. Strange symbols carved into the stone walls glowed with a silvery tint of light, unlike anything I had ever seen before. It was a relic left behind by some lost, magical civilization, long forgotten by the world above. But it was what was at the center of the room that took my breath away, there was some sort of pedestal, and on top of th
"Mom!"My own voice is returned in the darkness and the storm pounds until I feel the edge of exhaustion. The darkness courses through my body, shaking me to the core, threatening to swallow me whole in its depths. I pulled myself together, trying until I was suddenly aware that the air had shifted. The temperature drops, a coldness running down my spine. I sense him before I see him-Lucian.Lucian emerges from whirling shadows, stepping forward. Something authoritative in his figure, something coldly calm about the manner in which he advances through the chaos erupting in the air around us, draws my gaze irresistibly his way. Gleaming dark eyes fasten on me, a cold dread rising up in my chest. He raises a hand, and in but a gesture, the whirling storm around me begins to settle, as if even magic I struggle to grasp bends to his will."Enough of this, Abigail," he says smoothly, tone laced with a command. "Stop struggling with the man. You waste your breath on one not even worth
