After my shift at the clinic, I returned home, eager to see my son. However, upon entering the house, I was met with a space. I ventured outside and, with a keen ear, listened for my son’s distinct laughter amidst the pack members.

Following the sound, I spotted my son, Mike, playing with Daniel. Their laughter filled the air, creating a heartwarming atmosphere that brought immense joy to my world.

I watched from a distance as Daniel played with my son, Mike. Their laughter filled the air, creating a joyful atmosphere that was impossible to ignore. Mike’s bright eyes sparkled with delight, and Daniel’s warm smile made my heart ache.

But then, it happened. A sensation I hadn’t felt in years coursed through me, stirring deep within my soul. My wolf, ever vigilant and attuned, clawed at my consciousness as if trying to break free. It was as if she sensed something, someone. My mate.

Alpha Jacob.

The intriguing revelation left me torn. While I longed to explore this newfound connection, I was acutely aware of the heavy burden of my past. My heart had been shattered once before, and I couldn’t allow history to repeat itself without the certainty of answers and a deeper understanding.

I made the conscious choice not to step forward recklessly. Instead, I decided to stay hidden nearby, observing from the shadows.

Thankfully due to my transformed scent after my wolf had awoken, I no longer carried the same familiar aroma. My scent was now distinct, marking a clear change.

Alpha Jacob had already mated with the pack’s beta, Sonya, and I couldn’t help but hope that this wolf had not detected the true mate that was me, hidden in plain sight.

From my vantage point, I watched Alpha Jacob, his appearance seemingly altered by the new chapter in his life. To me, he appeared even more handsome and mature, enhancing his attractiveness. Despite the complexities of our situation, I couldn’t deny the allure that he exuded.

My wolf’s desire clawed at me, urging me to get a closer view, perhaps even draw nearer to him. At that moment, it felt as if my very mate was yearning for a connection, a deep and primal desire to mate with him right then and there. The allure was undeniable, and I couldn’t deny that pull, but I also know better.

As I observed, I noticed that not only my wolf and I were drawn to him. A pack of warriors and other women from the pack couldn’t help but stop and stare, captivated by his presence.

What struck me as particularly intriguing was that his attention seemed solely focused on Mike, unaware of the connection that existed between them; a connection that he had no idea was there.

Daniel, the omega with a significant role in our pack,  wisely took a step back, granting Alpha Jacob the space he needed.

Daniel’s responsibilities were vital; he oversaw the well-being of the pack’s children, a crucial duty that allowed pack warriors to focus on their training, border patrols, and nurses to fulfill their medical roles, and gardeners to provide sustenance for our entire community.

With rapt attention, I continued to observe the scene. Alpha Jacob, stooping low, approached the laughing Mike.

His eyes held a unique gleam of happiness as he interacted with my son, which left me pondering what could have prompted Alpha Jacob to single out and show such keen interest in my child. The mastery of this unexpected connection deepened, leaving me both intrigued and apprehensive about the unfolding events.

As I observed, Mike, carefree and innocent, immediately warmed to Alpha Jacob, forging a connection that everyone present couldn’t help but witness.

My heart swelled with joy at the sight of this beautiful moment, a glimpse of what could have been an ideal world. If only circumstances in the past had been different, we could have all been a big, happy family.

With childlike curiosity, Mike, at the tender age of three, fearlessly asked, “Who are you?” his advance, his inquisitive nature was something I took immense pride in.

He was my pride.

“I’m Alpha Jacob, but you can call me Neal,” he warmly responded to Mike’s inquiry.

With an innocent and welcoming demeanor, Mike shook Jacob’s hand, introducing himself, “Hello Neal, my name is Mike.” As I watched this heartwarming interaction, a genuine smile formed on my lips, saddened by this unexpected connection that was blossoming between my son and Alpha Jacob.

Fuck.

“Will you be my friend, Mike?” Jacob asked with a sincere and kind expression.

As Mike, my son, gazed at Jacob and then extended his hand, a smile graced his face, and he took Jacob’s hand in a firm grip. “Friends.”

The bond formation between Alpha Jacob and my son was undeniable, and I couldn’t help but wonder what mysterious force was drawing them together.

Alpha Jacob’s strong desire to get to know Mike left me with questions and a sense of intrigue, making me even more determined to unravel the secrets of this unexpected connection. Surely it cannot be the same bond I have with my son he can sense as a father? And why was Mike so drawn to this Alpha Jacob?

As I observed the heartwarming interaction between Mike and Alpha Jacob, a pang of sorrow tugged at my heart, knowing that my son couldn’t be aware of his true father. I felt like a horrible mother for keeping my son away from his father.

However, my emotions took a sharp turn when Luna Sonya, Jacob’s chosen mate, approached them with a seemingly friendly smile, immediately my smile faltered upon seeing the witch who didn’t bat an eye into accepting Jacob’s proposal of being his mate.

The sight filled me with an inexplicable rage, seeing her stoop down next to my child. Seeing her only made my rage grow for them. How could Jacob choose her over me?

I shook my head. That’s in the past, I shouldn’t be thinking about that anymore.

But as if there were some unspoken understanding between Jacob and Sonya, she abruptly rose and walked away, a noticeable frown etching her features. It left me wondering if there was indeed some underlying tension between the two.

As the day resumed its usual rhythm, Alpha Jacob and Mike immersed themselves in play, while the rest of the pack went about their daily tasks. I observed the two as they shared a special connection, and I couldn’t help but wonder what secrets they were whispering to each other.

“look what can I do.” Mike opened his hand to a now fully blossomed flower, smiling brightly at his newfound ability.

My eyes instantly widened in amazement. I hadn’t been aware of Mike possessing such a supernatural ability. Had I passed on my abilities to him? How long has he been able to do this? The implications of his talent weighed heavily on my mind.

If words got out that a wolf as young as Mike could perform such acts, it could potentially lead to complications and threats.

I couldn’t bear the thought of my child being exploited or put in harm’s way. Protecting him and his unique abilities became my utmost priority as I watched him, a mix of pride and concern in my heart.

Alpha Jacob’s surprise at Mike’s remarkable ability was evident, and I could only observe from a distance as he continued to interact with my son, completely unaware of their true biological connection.

Suddenly, Alpha Jacob abruptly stopped his play; his senses seemingly detected something or someone amiss. He turned to my direction, and a surge of panic coursed through me. Swiftly, I moved away, relieved that he hadn’t recognized my presence, thankful for the cover of anonymity.

But how much longer would I be able to hide the truth?

I looked down at my precious newborn twins, my heart swelling with fierce maternal love. Both Ethan and Aiden looked just like their father as with Mike. I felt a pang of jealousy seeing that I carried them for so long only for them to look like a replica of their father. Nonetheless, they were my bundle of joy. Aiden’s tiny rosebud lips twitched adorably as if he were dreaming of nursing. Before I could decide if he needed to eat, Jacob had already scooped him up. “He needs to eat,” my mate said, in that deep, authoritative voice that never failed to shiver me. I quirked an eyebrow at him, knowing fully well why he was so insistent. “Let the poor thing sleep a while longer,” I replied, trying and failing to sound nonchalant. We both knew Jacob loved few things more than watching me breastfeed our children. To him, it was primal more than mere nourishment. The act awakened an unmistakable hunger in his eyes that set my skin tingling with awareness. Sure enough, when Jacob placed A

I clutched at the sheets, a feral cry of agony tearing from my throat. It had been a full day since our forces arrived back at the pack’s territory, battered but victorious after the brutal confrontation with Alpha Damian’s rogues and packs. I stood beside Jacob as he addressed our assembled warriors and allies from Alpha Peter’s pack. My gaze drifted to Jacob, taking in the quiet power exuding from his stance. In his arms, he cradled Mike, our son squirming happily against his father’s chest. Jacob seemed to follow my train of thought. His eyes found mine for a lingering moment as he bounced Mike gently. Jacob stepped forward, Mike cradled securely in the crook of his arm. A hush fell over the assembled warriors as he raised his free hand for silence. When he spoke, he carried clearly across the crowd. “Today we bask in the glory of a triumph that was dearly bought.” His expression was ceremonious. “We have shed blood and lost zero souls because of our Luna and Nadia, the white witch, in defense of our home.” “But because of your unflinching dedica

My heart shattered once more, but I carefully laid Jacob's body back on the blood-soaked ground and stood. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I met Mia’s cruel gaze. “Why are you doing this?” I asked, feeling pissed and angry. “Haven’t you already accomplished ruining me in the past?” Mia threw back her head in a fit of wicked laughter. He had forbidden me from joining the battle, convinced I would be safer here. Yet Nadia’s solemn words rang with the weight of truth. Taking a steadying breath, I met Nadia’s eyes squarely. “I’m ready then. More than ready to help my mate and pack win this war.” I flexed my fingers, calling on the magic thrumming through my veins. “But how will we reach the battlefield undetected?” A mysterious smile curved Nadia’s lips. “The same way I managed to slip Paige out of Damian’s grasp when she required my assistance in escaping.” If they were overwhelmed, my power could turn the tide. Alpha Jacob’s POV I stood resolute beside Alpha Peter as our pack gathered around us. The warriors were clad for battle. We would eradicate this threat once and for all. My jaw clenched grimly. I had no qualms about the violence to come-it was necessary to keep our loved ones safe. My thoughts stayed with Claire and our son. Thanks to the powerful shield Claire had erected, no non-pack members could enter our territory. It would protect them absolutely from being caught up in the impending war. I was determined that Claire would remain behind this shield, no matter how capable she was. I didn’t want her anywhere near the carnage to come. Though her power could likely end the conflict swiftly, the risk was too great. No, I would ensure Claire and our child remained untouched by the battle, safe within the pack. My wolf snarled at the thought of them being endangered. There was a change of plans, we would leave tonight, and it would take at least three days to reach our destination.

I watched from the sidelines, a sleeping Mike bundled against my chest, as Jacob and Alpha Peter went over strategies with the warriors for tomorrow’s battle. My heart clenched just thinking of my mate leading the pack into war for the first time. What if I lost him out there? The thought caused my breath to hitch. I pulled Mike closer, cradling my still-flat stomach with my free hand. Our twins were newly conceived, just starting to take shape inside me. What if I lost them too? He must have sensed my distress because Jacob looked up and met my worried gaze from across the field. Leaving the strategy session, he quickly crossed over to the field until he stood before me. His palm cupped my cheek. “I will return to you, my Luna,” he murmured intensely. His eyes flickered down to my abdomen before looking back at mine. “All of you.
