Forty-ninth Run

The weight of Hannah's words lingered in the air, and for a moment, silence enveloped the truck. Lacy and Harol exchanged glances, a mix of uncertainty and gratitude in their eyes. Of course, even though they had the thought of staying with their savior, they couldn't make it out of their mouth. After all, they already saved them, and they have no further responsibility towards them. The only thing they should do is send them to a safe place.

Harol broke the silence, his voice steady but filled with a hint of anxiety. He couldn't help but to ask, "What if there's no safe zone left? What if it's just us out here?"

Hannah, meeting his gaze, offered a reassuring smile. "Well, that is quite negative thoughts you have. Of course, there is a safe place. The military personnel make a barracks and a safe zone for those who survive." She stops for a moment and adds, "And if what you said is right, then we'll find a way. We've been through a lot, and together, we'll move whatever comes our way.
