BRIAN’S POV

My meeting with Royals didn't go as expected. He knew things I didn't expect him to know which was shocking. I was starting to doubt that the reason behind our meeting was Angela. From the way he had ended our discussion, I had lots of doubts in my heart.

I was meeting someone. Someone I must meet. I walked into the busy bar, angry that he had chosen this place. We could have used the usual restaurant.

Does she even know that he was out this late? Was she okay with it?

Scanning through the people inside, I searched for him abd finally sighted him sitting in the corner. Striding to the place, his back was turned to me so when I stopped, he twisted his head to the side.

“Didn't expect you to be so intentional about meeting me.” He clicked his tongue, reaching for the whiskey before him. “Care for a glass?” He offered, his brown eyes meeting mine.

I stared down at Freddy who wore a devious smirk on his face as he looked up at me, offering me a glass of whiskey

JESSICA’S POV Rain began to drizzle as I stood in the middle of the road with Brian who was staring at me like I was some ghost holding him from crossing the roads. I blinked as a raindrop splattered on the place I held him. “Hey, will the both of you leave the damn road?!” An angry driver yelled and it was then I jolted out of the haze of Brian’s bluish eyes. Cars were honking loudly as the drops of rain were made visible from their lights. I quickly dragged him away and led him to stay under a shade. “You are here?” His question was strange but I nodded. I had decided to come out to get some groceries since the kids were busy and I thought I could use some walk. I didn't expect to meet to meet Brian outside, being so drunk. “Why are you out here ?” I eyed him from head to toe. The way he gripped my hands made me let out a sigh. “Why are you out here? Shouldn't you be with your sweet husband?” He said, belching as he stumbled backward and enunciation the word, Sweet. I

Brian’s POV She was holding me. Looking at me with worry etched on her face as she helped me inside my house. I slurred some words as I fell on the bed. She turned to leave but stopped. Spinning to me as her brown curls followed the motion, I saw her- Ny Jessica contemplating but then moved to pull off my shoes and socks. Then the door opened… I awoke with a pounding ache in my head, rolling to the other side of the bed. I slipped one eye open, taking in my surroundings. The ceramic jug on the shelf indicated that I was in my room so I opened my eyes fully. I rolled over on my back and stared at the ceiling, I could hear my eardrums throbbing loudly in my ears. Gosh! How much did I drink? The door creaked open and I twisted my neck to the side. Angela stepped in, glancing at me as she dropped a cup of water and some tablets beside me. “You are awake. Take this.” She picked them up. I slowly slid up, letting my head fall back to the headboard. My brows scrunched as memories of the

Jessica’s POC I watched Brian stomp away. A weird sense of relief and satisfaction washed through as I watched him settle in his car. His eyes were fixed on the place Freddy and I were sitting. I bit down a snort and turned my attention fully to what Freddy was saying. After our wedding announcement, we have not been able to see it because I was busy overseeing the launching of the products and the progress but thankfully last night I sent him a message that we could meet today at my office. I did not expect him to oblige because Freddy didn't want to mix personal business with professional business. He had made it obvious at the very beginning. I didn't blame him though. I also didn't want that but I was starting to hear gossip that our marriage might be fake. No doubt Nelson trying to play his part and make people doubt the truth. The man was desperate. So desperate to have what is not his. I let out a deep breath. I had convinced Freddy with that reason and thankfully he rea

BRIAN’S POV I walked into the house, angry steam oozing off me as I slammed the door shut. The scene I had seen earlier kept replaying in my head. So she could not attend to me because she had lunch with him. I let out a sigh as I slumped on the couch, tugging at my tie. Angela appeared in my peripheral. She has been staying over at my place since I got drunk and I was going to tell her to leave very soon. Why? Because Jessica might get the wrong thought? To hell with her! I didn't care about what she was thinking. She wants to be with him. I will also choose to be with someone else since she made it so obvious to me that she has moved on. My heart squeezed tight in my chest. It was too late already. I lost her and I regretted it. My head fell back as I pinched the bridge of my nose. Breathing out through my parted lips, I noticed Angela placed a cup of cold water before me. I reached for it and downed it in seconds, letting the chill settle in me. “How did your meeting go?” S

ANGELA’S POV “What?!” I exclaimed as the line went off. I stared down at it in shock. What just… Brian just left the house a while ago and I have been told that he is now in prison. I clenched my fist tight. It must be Royals doing this. I quickly changed into a better outfit and rushed out of the house. On getting to the police station, I saw cops moving around. I approached the one behind the desk and the dirty eye he gave me almost made me waver but I buckled up some nerves and asked, “I am here to see Brian Knox.” I said breathlessly. I have been running. His eyes went from my head to my toe before looking down at his book. “Oh! You mean you are here for the mannerless egoistic bastard who punched someone and broke his cheekbone?” He asked, arching his brows in disgust. I closed my eyes briefly, reminding myself that there was no way yelling at him would solve anything so I plastered the most gentle smile I could. “I don't know who that is but Brian Knox is definitely not a

JESSICA’S POV Bishop walked into the office, his eyes etched on the tab in his hands as he dropped it before me. With arched brows, I picked it up but my eyes went wide as I saw the news. Brian was arrested?! I blinked twice to see if I was seeing correctly or not. “When was this?” I asked him. “Yesterday.” He responded. “Why was he arrested?” I dropped the tab, not bothering to look at the content because I knew whoever released his arrest to the public would have put a very misleading content. “I had agent Lee investigate it and he said that he met De’Royals.” my ears perked up at that name. De’Royals. He was our potential competitor in the market but I have never met him once since I became the CEO. “And how did that lead to his arrest?” “He was said to have lost control and punched him across the face. He just has broken two to three of his cheekbones and probably his plastic nose.” He grimaced as he said the last part. I quickly googled De’Royals and his face appear

BRIAN’S POV I let out a groan as I walked out of the prison, scrunching my nose at the pungent smell of urine and excreta. I gave the cop that has come to call me out a hard look as Angela’s shriek snatched my attention. She didn't rush to me as she would have done which made me sort of relax. I definitely cannot be stressed over her right now. I walked over to her and she smiled lightly at me before leading me out. I wanted to ask her if she was the one who helped me to get out or Royals did but it was unnecessary. I was out and that was all that mattered. Entering the car and settling inside, I allowed myself to be carried away by the scenarios outside through the window as Angela’s breathing became audible. I glanced over at her and then looked away. She would be fine. We soon reached the house and she was the first to step out though she waited for me. As we arrived at the doorstep, I caught her hand she let out a gasp, a scared look in her eyes as she looked into mine. My e

  • Chasing My Ex-Wife Back After Divorce    33: A Date

JESSICA’S POV Staring at the glittering necklace inside the box, I contemplated once again if I should wear it. I lifted my gaze to the stunning reflection of myself in the mirror and a tentative smile took over my lips. Freddy had invited me over for a date at his place and since we were married, I just needed the publicity of this. He had said that he would use this to our advantage and I guess that was what he was doing. Finally picking up the necklace, I wore it around my neck, and the fake wedding ring Freddy had bought for me was glinting on my finger. It itched me to take it off but I knew that I was bound by contract and I needed to uphold my part of the deal. Putting the final touches to my face, I stood to my feet and admired the beautiful gown my business associate, Loren, had sent to me. Loren was one of the few people who had taken it upon himself to make sure I looked like the heiress that I was. Bishop had introduced me to him that year and I had felt really wear

The papers strewn before her detailed the intricacies of her latest case, but her focus faltered as her mind wandered. The events of the last few days had been overwhelming, to say the least. The precinct was still reeling from the chaos surrounding Angela's arrest, and tension hung in the air like an oppressive fog. Jessica leaned back in her chair, rubbing her temples as a faint headache began to pulse. • Chasing My Ex-Wife Back After Divorce    72: Confused

BRIAN’S POV I stared at my phone, tapping my fingers against the desk as the ringtone droned on for the third time. No answer. Grey wasn’t exactly the most reliable guy when it came to picking up calls, but this felt different. The longer the silence stretched, the tighter the knot in my stomach became. He should’ve answered by now. Something wasn’t right. I hung up and dialed again, muttering under my breath. “Come on, Grey. Pick up.” Still nothing. Before I could decide whether to leave another message, my phone buzzed in my hand. An unknown number lit up the screen. For a second, I debated ignoring it, but instinct told me to answer. “This is Brian,” I said sharply. “Brian, this is Officer Carter from the precinct.” The name took a second to register. Carter. I’d spoken to him before—back when Angela first got arrested. His tone wasn’t urgent, but it wasn’t casual, either. “What’s going on?” I asked, already bracing myself for bad news. There was a pause

**Angela’s POV** The metallic clang of the prison gate echoed behind me, a sound I thought I’d never hear again. For three long months, those gates had been my reality—cold, unyielding, and suffocating. Now, they were shutting behind me, leaving a hollow sense of disbelief in their wake. I took a hesitant step forward, my heart pounding in my chest as I squinted into the sunlight. Freedom felt foreign, as though I’d stepped into someone else’s life. A black car idled by the curb, sleek and polished, standing out against the drab prison exterior. I had no idea who was responsible for my release. The last time I’d heard from anyone, it was Brian's failed attempt to see me, blocked by the guards. I thought about him for a brief moment, then quickly shoved the thought away. The driver exited the car and opened the back door, gesturing for me to enter. I hesitated until I saw her. Sophia White. My mother. She stepped out of the car with the grace of someone who always command
