Ariella scrambled away from the bed and picking up all her clothes, she ran into the bathroom, and slammed the door behind her
She slid down on the floor, still naked as she burst into tears of guilt. She was supposed to sleep with a random stranger and get the money for her mother's surgery, so how did she end up in Kelvin's bed? Did Hannah make a mistake with the room number? She was sure that Kelvin must have been expecting Hannah because he was also shocked to see her. She buried her face in her hands as she sobbed loudly. She was not a good friend at all. She just slept with her friend's boyfriend and enjoyed it, she even gave her first time to him. 'I have to tell Hannah before he tells her, I need to beg for her forgiveness' she thought as she stood up with shaky legs and picked up her trousers She brought her phone out of the pocket of her jeans and with shaky hands, she dialed Hannah's number. Her heart was in her mouth as she listened to the ringing tone, waiting for Hannah to pick up. "Hello Ariella, how did it go? Is it done?” Hannah's cherry voice came from the other end of the phone, causing the amount of guilt in Ariella's heart to mount up. "H…han… Hannah,” she licked her lips “Hannah I am going to accept any punishment you give to me, just promise that you would forgive me I…" "What is it? What happened?” Ariella cringed when she heard the obvious innocence in Hannah's voice, she nearly choked with guilt, “Hannah I think I got the number of the hotel room wrong. I slept with your boyfriend instead of the man you asked me to, he did not know, he thought that I was you. It's all my fault,” There she has said it, she was willing to take the whole blame since she was the one at fault. She held her breath as she waited for Hannah's response, but all she got was a tinkling laugh. "You don't have to worry about it, Ariella, I knew that it was my boyfriend who was in the room. I sent you there to accompany him for the night since I'm stuck here in the middle of a photoshoot.” Arielle froze at Hannah's words. She was expecting anything apart from this. A shout? Insults? Perhaps, anything but the words that Hannah had just said. "You set this entire thing up?” Ariella's voice was surprisingly calm as she gripped her phone and pressed it closer to her ears. Maybe she heard wrong. Hannah was going to say something else. This was all a terrible mistake. "Yes, I did.” there was no guilt whatsoever in Hanna's voice. It was as if she were talking about the weather, “Don't worry, he won't be mad. He loves me too much and would get married to me, so it doesn't really matter. I have to go now, duty calls,” The phone slid down Ariella's hands and made a clattering noise against the bathroom floor. She could not believe what she had just heard. Everything felt so surreal. She sighed as she got up from the cold floor. She needed to explain everything to Kelvin. Her heart began to thunder in her chest when she looked up and saw him. He was standing in the bathroom door and staring at her with cold and dark eyes which were devoid of any emotion. Ariella was not sure what time Kelvin entered the bathroom, nor was she sure if he heard her conversation with Hannah; his girlfriend His eyes, filled with hate and ridicule, racked down her body and she suddenly realized that she was naked. In the next second she picked up her clothes and quickly wore them, trying hard to ignore his disgusted gaze on her body or the shame biting at her as she dressed under the dark scrutiny of his gaze. She was planning on explaining what had happened, but she did not know how to go about it because of the cold and unapproachable aura around him. She felt so disgusted that she had been caught up in the middle of whatever game Hannah was playing with her boyfriend. For goodness sake, all she wanted was money to pay her mother's medical bills, but she ended up getting entangled in her friend's relationship. Ariella suddenly felt that she was stupid. Of course, Hannah was rich enough to borrow her money or even pay her mother's medical bill for her. Hannah was a popular supermodel, and she was also from a rich family. She also had a rich boyfriend. Kelvin Patrick is the CEO of L & P co-operation. 'Maybe she was just the one that took Hannah as her real friend, but Hannah did not feel the same way about her' Ariella thought bitterly as she moved to walk past Kelvin, who was still standing at the bathrooms' door. "You are really such a nice friend, aren't you?” his tone was dripping heavily with sarcasm. Ariella paused in her step's before turning to look back at him, “Pardon?” "After sleeping with your best friend's boyfriend, you are just going to walk away like nothing happened, huh?" His voice still held that sarcastic note that Ariella already hated. Ariella was shaking her head negatively, “All of this is just a misunderstanding. I did not know that you were the one in the room. If not, I would never have come here,” "Of course, you are just going to deny it, Hannah has told me so much about you recently. How you were only an innocent girl, but now I know that it was all a facade to get Hannah to trust you so that you can use her to climb into my bed. If not, how would a low life like you be able to get into this hotel?” He marched to her and grabbed her arms while he stared down at her in disgust. Ariella flinched at his words, they stung, “I did no such thing, Hannah was the one that set this whole thing up. Why don't you give her a call,” Ariella tried to reason with him. "Liar, Hannah would never do something like this, so stop putting the blame on her. You are in love with me, that was why you deliberately set this whole thing up. You are nothing but a prostitute. What?” He asked when she looked like she had been slapped, “You think I was going to believe you and fall for you after what happened?” Ariella burst into tears of humiliation. As if sleeping with him was not humiliating enough, now she had to listen to him throw insults at her. "All I needed was money! Money to take care of my sick mother and pay her medical bills!” Ariella angrily yelled before she could stop herself. "Money? Is that what this is all about, money? You need some money, then you will get some money,” he released his hold on her arm and walked to the wardrobe in the hotel's room. Ariella shivered and rubbed the part of her arms which he'd grabbed. She knew that she was going to have a bruise. She watched as he threw the wardrobe open with force and brought out a box. When he opened the box, she saw that it contained a large amount of cash. He grabbed some of the cash and walked back to her, he threw them on the floor. “Since you need money then take those and get out of my sight,” She looked down at the money that landed at her feet. He threw the money at her like she was some beggar on the streets, but maybe that was undoubtedly what she was at that moment: a beggar. One who needed money and would do anything to get it for her mother's treatment, including selling herself. She has never felt humiliated in her entire life. She did not even feel like this when the creditors her father owed before his death came to drag her on the street for their money. She did not feel this humiliated when she met her old classmates and they laughed and threw taunting remarks about how she was so poor that she had to drop out of school and do little modeling jobs for money. She bent down and picked up the money from the floor, trying to ignore the man's icy glare on her. After picking up the money, she looked up to meet his eyes unflinchingly, “Don't worry, I won't ever appear in front of you again.” Ariella turned and walked out of the hotel room without another word. When she got out of the hotel, she released the breath she did not know that she had been holding. She hailed a cab and directed the driver to the hospital where her mother was. Ariella went straight to pay and clear all her mother's medical bills and afterward, she counted the remaining bills and figured that it could pay off their rent for the year and some will be left to get a little groceries from the mall "Doctor, how is my mother?” Ariella stood up and approached her mother's doctor when she came out of the theater after her mother's surgery "The surgery was successful, but your mother will be under observation for a while,” "Thank you, doctor, when can I see her?” She asked with hopeful eyes. "She will be transferred back to her room soon,” the doctor patted her on the back before moving away Ariella sighed and sat back, waiting for her mother to be wheeled out. She could not bring herself to regret what she did to earn her mother's surgery money because it was the reason her mother was still alive.Kelvin continued to glare at the door long after Ariella left. He was still furious about what she did and he was going to make her pay. How dare she pretend to be his girlfriend just to get into bed with him and then try to push all the blame on Hannah? He was going to warn Hannah about her friend, who was just a wolf in sheep's clothing. He picked up his phone and called Hannah. He paced around the room as he waited for her to pick up. She did not pick up the first time, so he called her again, and she picked up this time around "Hello.” Hannah's voice held a tinge of fatigue, he could guess how tired she was, and it made him feel guilty. While he was here screwing her friend, she was there working hard to push her career forward. "Hannah, honey, you have to keep calm and listen to me. Something bad just happened, and I need to explain it to you.” he prepared her for the news he was about to deliver which he knew would hurt her. "Umm, Kelvin baby, if this is about whatever happ
A middle aged woman was in her office on the thirty first floor of her company's building. She was sitting behind her desk on her swivel chair and in her hands was a magazine of the lastest fashion show that she would flip to the next page every few minutes. The woman jumped in her sit, dropping the magazine in the process when her personal assistant burst into her office without knocking. "Why in God's name are you running? Are you out of your damn mind, Gerald? " The woman yelled, her eyes wide in her beautifully made-up face. Gerald did not pause to calm down, "Good news, good news, Mrs Patrick," he was gasping but he had a wide smile on his face. Gladys' head tilted and her eyes took on a look of confusion, "What good news is this?" "Remember that girl? The one Mr Kelvin spent the night with at the imperial hotel?" Gerald asked. "Yeah, the one I ask you to keep an eye on but still no news of the both of them meeting again. What happened?" Gladys collapsed back on her sea
Doctor Mitchell walked to her and examined her face up close "I don't think so. Come, we need to run some tests on you to make sure you are okay. Can't have you sick when your mother is yet to recover." the woman already had her suspicion but she wanted to confirm it before giving the young girl the news. Ariella wanted to disagree but she knew that if she fell sick it wouldn't do her mother any good, "Okay," she agreed "Come with me," doctor Mitchell gestured for Ariella to follow her as she walked out After different tests were run on her, Ariella stood outside waiting for the test result. She caught herself wriggling her hands together which was something she only does whenever she is nervous. She stopped and instead fisted both hands "The results are out," doctor Mitchell walked up to her with a grim expression Ariella stood up "What is wrong with me doctor?" she knew it was something bad from the look on doctor Mitchell's face but she hoped that she was not dying because
Ariella sighed as she walked out of the hospital building. After the long talk, Gladys was finally able to convince her to speak with the father of her child; Kelvin. She was against it at first but Gladys was able to make her see reasons why she needed to talk to him before making any decision. Ariella had lingered in the hospital long after Gladys left before she was finally able to gather her courage to look for Kelvin. She told doctor Mitchell that she was going to be stepping outside for a bit to speak with her baby's daddy and the woman had wished her good luck. Ariana thanked doctor Mitchel because she really needed all the luck she could get. She walked to the roadside to see if she could get a cab. She knew nothing about Kelvin even if he was her friend's boyfriend. Hannah was only ever seen with him when she wanted to show him off or when she was attending a public event and on the front cover of newspapers and magazines. Hannah talked about him but only when she wanted
Panic flooded Ariella’s heart when she got to her mother's room in the hospital and found it was empty. She rushed to doctor Mitchell's office to ask where her mother was and was able to finally calm down when she was told that her mother was still alive and in the hospital but had been moved to another room. “Another room? I did not apply for her to be moved.” Ariella was confused. “She was moved to the VIPs room,” "VIP? But how?” Ariella was shocked at this revelation. "Well, a man who claims to be your fiancé and the father of your child had her transferred to another room.” Doctor Mitchell was happy that Ariella's baby daddy was going to be helping the young woman. Maybe some burdens would be lifted off the young woman's shoulders, and she won't have a difficult time during her pregnancy. She won't have to raise her child alone. Doctor Mitchell was beyond relieved. Ariella was like a zombie as she left doctor Mitchell's room to locate the VIPs room that her mother had be
She had to think again. One thing Ariella hated more than her current situation was thinking because once she got lost in her thoughts, she would begin to remember things she wanted to forget. Things like how her life continues to crumble before her eyes and there was nothing she could do to stop it. After paying for her mother's surgery, she thought that her mother would be well, but her mother remained sick. Doctor Mitchell already told her that her mother may never recover, but Ariella refused to believe it. After selling her body for the surgery's money, she would be more than devastated if her mother were to die. When Ariella first found out that she was pregnant, her first thought had been to remove the baby. She was in no position — financially or emotionally — to take care of a baby, and she would be damned before she allowed her child to be brought into this world to suffer. The fact that her mother might not survive, and she would be left alone in this world was one of t
Ariella thought he would take her back to his penthouse but he didn't and she was a little grateful for it. He took her to a small restaurant. The cozy ambience of the place made it the perfect spot for a romantic date but there was nothing romantic about the contract they were about to sign nor were they on a date. They were not a couple. They were only here because the situation of life threw them together. Because Hannah wanted to play some dirty games with her boyfriend and got her involved. Now, she was pregnant with his baby and they were about to negotiate some foolish contract on how they will move forward from here on. It was late already and the place was not crowded, Arielle was grateful because she did not want to risk being seen by people. Ariella tried not to squirm as Kelvin placed his hand at the small of her back as he led her inside. She could feel the warmth of his palm against her flesh even with the thin material of her clothing between them. Like a perfect ge
This time, Kelvin took her to his penthouse where they both settled on a sofa in the living room area. They sat facing each other with the contract laid out on the table between them. “There,” he jerked his chin at the contract, “You can read it and tell me the part you do not like so that I can have my lawyer rule it out.” His lawyer was involved, Ariella thought as she reached over, with a shaky hand, to snag the contract from the table. She flipped through it, slowly reading so that she wouldn't miss anything. She picked out the clauses she did not like. Ariella only raised her head when she was done. “First, Hannah is your girlfriend and the reason we got into this situation in the first place. I want to know if she is aware that I'm pregnant. I also need to know what her role will be in all of this if we were to get married.” After that night she slept with Kelvin and called Hannah to tell her about it, Ariella has not heard anything from her. Hannah only sent her the promise
Sophia’s POVThey did not know. I could see it in their eyes as they looked at one another and as they whispered. I knew that my mother and father could hear everything they were saying but these people seem to have forgotten as they continued to talk in hushed tones among themselves. It's been three days since my mother walked into my room and found me looking like I was well over thirty five years. She had immediately raised alarm and called my father into the room. He was just as shocked as we were when he saw my appearance. He stopped at the door as his jaw dropped open in shock before he rushed over to me and grabbed my face in his hands, his eyes wide in alarm as he turned my face left and right the same way mother did. Three days later, I looked like I was over forty five to fifty years old. The first day, we kept it a secret among the family as they tried to analyze the situation and check if I was using something that was making my face look old but nothing I had was harmful
Joanne's POVThe sun shone through my window early the next morning, throwing the light across my room. I woke up feeling refreshed but also aware of the chaos from the night before. My head was still buzzing with thoughts about Poppy and Collins. "I need to blend in today," I told myself as I got out of bed. After getting ready, I decided to keep things simple. I pulled on a comfortable outfit and tied my hair back. “Just a quiet day,” I said, nodding at my reflection. “Nothing too dramatic.”I made my way through the halls of the hotel, trying to avoid any unnecessary attention. As I walked, I heard footsteps behind me. I turned to see Mia catching up.“Joanne!” she called out, her face a mix of concern and fear. “I’m so glad I found you! I wanted to talk about what happened last night.”“Hey, Mia!” I replied, forcing a smile. “Don’t worry about it! I’m fine.”“No, I really need to apologize,” she insisted, her hands waving in front of her. “I should have immediately when you saw al
Joanne's POV As the night wore on, I felt energy pulsating around me. The music, the laughter—all of it made me want to keep going. But I noticed Mia and Lila starting to sway a bit on their feet.“Hey, you two,” I said, waving them over. “Are you alright?”Mia yawned dramatically. “I think it’s time for us to call it a night,” she said, stifling another yawn. “I’m so tired!”“Yeah, I’m with you,” Lila agreed, rubbing her eyes. “Tonight was fun, but I can’t keep my eyes open.”“Alright, get some rest!” I replied, grinning. “You both deserve it after a long night of dancing!”Mia smiled back. “Thanks, Joanne. You did amazing tonight!” “Yeah, you really showed Poppy! I can’t wait to hear about all the chaos you plan to cause!” Lila laughed, throwing her arms around me for a quick hug.“Trust me, I have plans for the next two weeks,” I said with a smirk. “Poppy’s going to know exactly who she’s dealing with.”“Good luck with that!” Mia joked. “Just don’t let her drive you crazy!”“Neve
Joanne's POVI sat in the garden, tears pouring down my cheeks. The news about the tournament cancellation hit me hard, and I felt lost. After everything I had hoped for, this moment seemed unbearable. I tried to wipe my eyes, but every thought about the tournament made my heart sink deeper.“Joanne!” I heard Silver call from a distance. I looked up and saw her rushing toward me, worry etched on her face.“What’s wrong?” she asked, kneeling next to me. “You look devastated!”“I am,” I admitted, sniffing. “They canceled the tournament! Everything I prepared for is gone!”“Hey, hey! Don’t cry!” Silver said, her tone soothing. “Wipe those tears away. We need you calm down and see poor Cassian, he is a blubbering mess!”“I don’t even know how to feel,” I said, my voice shaky. “It was everything I wanted. Now it’s all up in flames!”“Maybe it’s not over yet!” Silver said. “You don’t know what might happen next.”“I can’t believe this,” I whispered, struggling to calm down. Silver put her
JOANNE The maids went on to assign us to rooms as they read from their tablets our names and the room we were to be in. “I'm still quite surprised that you followed me all the way here,” I whispered to Amara who stood beside me. “ You make it look like I haven't been here since,” she replied. “ You know, you don't have to accompany me,” I said, genuinely not wanting to burden her. Since this was a contest to select the bride for the Lycan King, we'd be staying at the palace until the contest is over. “ It's a little too much to be saying accompany, though you're not wrong,” she nodded her head not wanting to admit that she was worried. “You make me wonder if I'm weak,” I mumbled. “I heard you by the way and you know that's not the case,” she folded her arms. “I simply need to ensure that you are safe and I mean, knowing how unsociable you are, it would be a lot easier for you if you had your best friend with you,” she gave me a thumbs up and
As Ariella moved from boutique to boutique, buying both the things she wanted and the things she needed, swiping Kelvin’s card here and there, it almost felt like the burden she’s been carrying inside of her was lessening. It was the same as when people cut themselves to bleed out so that they could feel better. Her driver for today was not the one she was familiar with. Anytime she picked something, his eyes would widen but she did not care. She did not know if he was surprised because of the multiple things she was buying or the prices of these things. She was trying hard not to look at the price herself because anytime her eyes went to the price, she could feel her heart beating faster than normal in her chest. He was following her so closely like he was her bodyguard. Maybe Kelvin did care about his child after all. She’s never seen this man before so he might as well be a bodyguard disguised as her driver. This made her relax a whole lot and enjoy her shopping. She ignored Mar
Joanne's POV Silver had already left the room and I was as exhausted as fuck. I wanted to take a walk to clear my head After spending some time in the garden and then at the party, I finally made my way back to my room for probably the 100th time today. I slumped onto my bed, feeling a mix of exhaustion and lingering tension. The events of the day swirled in my mind, and I needed a moment to regroup.“Ugh, what a day,” I muttered to myself, staring up at the ceiling. I rolled over and grabbed my phone from the nightstand. “Maybe talking to Nathan will help me clear my head.”I dialed his number and waited. It rang a couple of times before I heard his familiar voice. “Hey, Joanne! What’s up?”“Nathan! Just checking in,” I said, smiling a little. “How's everything back at home?”“Busy as usual,” he replied, sounding cheerful. “Dad is still buried in those pack reports, you know how he is. But Mom misses you! She keeps asking when you’ll be back.”“I miss her too! I can’t wait to see h
The people around them let out loud gasps of surprise at the same time Kyra did.Her hand slowly lifted to touch her burning cheek as she winced in disbelief. “How dare you suggest that we find a way to clean up my dress? We? Clean? Do you know how much I got this dressed? It was tailored just for me to wear to this party, yet you ruined it by walking around like a blind bat!” The lady yelled, her face creasing with angry lines.Kyra was still dumbfounded by the slap that she just kept on staring at the lady without a word making its way past her lips. “What? Cat got your tongue now?” The lady continued to yell as if oblivious to the fact that all attention was on them or that Anton was now walking down to where she and Kyra were standing. “Just a few days ago you were sold off like a slave because you shamelessly went to get yourself pregnant with Tristan’s child, and today you think you are a princess again because Alpha Anton bought you and brought you to this party? Better think
Ariella fidgeted nervously and wiggled her hands together. She had received a call from the hospital five hours ago that her mother collapsed. Her mother's surgery that was scheduled for five weeks later has been brought forward because of this. The doctor was demanding money for the surgery, and she also had outstanding debt for the drugs her mother's doctor was kind enough to give to her on credit. After her father's death, Ariella's mother fell ill, so she had to drop out of college and look for a job. In the process of looking for a job, she met an agent, who helped her secure a position to become a model. Since Ariella was beautiful and had a good shape for modeling, she was able to get a spot in the company, but she could never go far. She had no connection, she was not willing to sell her body. Most of her resources were snatched by the other models. Even after two years in the modeling industry, she was not making enough money to take care of her mother's medical bills
