AURELIA

~<>~

Raiden’s scream was heard by every warrior. I could feel every one of our friends and pack members freezing for a moment as we all understood that for an Alpha; in fact, the strongest Alpha in the realm; to scream like that, hell was coursing through him.

We all understood.

I, as his mate and Luna, knew even better because the second the hell burst out within him, I felt it burning me from within and it was only a matter of time before I let out a scream of my own.

“You dare not, Relia.” Inara’s voice echoed, breaking through whatever Larisa was doing to Raiden which was affecting me greatly as I tried to keep the spiritual link between me and the warriors open.

If those links should close, they would all die as they would be no match for Larisa’s fortified warriors.

“It hurt. I’m burning from within and–” I cried to my wolf even though Phoebe was still right behind me, healing me and Otis keeping me out of sight.

“Do you know why she is coming at you hard?” Inara as

ALPHA RAIDEN~~It took seeing Larisa and Aurelia in a fight for me to realize that I was wrong to assume that I could take down Larisa just because I was the most powerful Alpha in the realm… Physical strength was no use against Larisa because she had soaked my soul in dark energy. She wasn’t even touching me and I was feeling pain despite floating in the air like gravity had decided to take a break.Sadly I realized that I was of no use in this war. In fact, I was merely a weak link that Larisa wanted to use to defeat Aurelia and have her way in the realm. I was trying so hard not to scream and came off as a powerless puny before my exhausted mate and my warriors but this pain was eating me alive. It was everywhere. Digging deep into me. I have been trying to block the pain from getting to Aurelia as I could tell that she didn’t need that right now. If I couldn’t contribute power, I shouldn’t add pain either. But of course, that wasn’t easy to achieve. I could feel the pain slip

AURELIA~~I knew I screamed. I felt my lips parting and my lungs pushing out air as my mouth widened. I knew I screamed but I heard nothing. The world went still while Raiden kept falling. Faster than my brain could register. Faster than my body could react. Although I was still standing, I fell with him. Although my eyes were still open, they closed the second his eyes did. I saw the same darkness he saw when he closed his eyes. I felt the same pain he felt when his heart was engulfed by a strong force and maybe I screamed because I knew there would be no going back as that force crushed his heart before I could even blink. “No!” Inara’s cry burst through my crushed soul as she exclaimed, “Do something, Relia.” But what could I have done? After draining Larisa as my wolf suggested, I didn’t expect any sudden movement from her. Heck, she was as good as dead and when Louis screamed those warning words, I was too tired to react quickly. Converting Larisa’s dark energy to pure

AURELIA~~“We can’t give up like this, Relia. You shouldn’t give up like this. Mend him. Do something.” Inara uttered, urging me even though Raiden was gone. Do something… I couldn’t count the number of times I had heard those two words today and I hated the sound of it, mostly because I couldn’t do anything. “Yes you can, Alpha.” Tamia’s voice echoed in my mind. I didn’t know how she managed to reach me despite the turmoil my mind had become but she did and her voice would have given me some sort of peace if I wasn’t mourning my mate… My teary eyes found Tamia and Lori beside me, making me wonder how long I had sat in the dirt with Raiden’s body. For how long has his heart been crushed right there in my presence? For how much longer can I keep this devastating news from my kids–“Oh, my kids.” I cried out, undiluted misery settling within my being, making itself at home. They just got their father. How do I tell them it would be just us from now on? How do I manage this rea

ALPHA TRISTAN’S POV ~~ As my eyes fluttered open, I could have sworn that my body had forgotten what it meant to be alive. Opening my eyes was harder than it should ever be for anyone but adjusting my eyes to the brightness around me was way harder than opening them. I let out a groan when I tried to lift a finger and pain consumed me. My entire body ached. I felt so heavy. “Alpha. You are awake.” Louis. That was his voice but it sounded more like noise to me as his voice sent a sharp ring through my aching head, making me groan again. At the moment, I didn’t feel like an Alpha. It took forever before I could see clearly and Louis's face was the first thing I saw. He was hovering above me, looking at me like he was scanning me for damages. “Thank the Goddess. I was beginning to worry that you might never wake up–” Louis stated, smiling. But seeing him so close to me sent flashes of what I knew was the past through my mind. I recalled everything. How he joined forces wi

AURELIA~~Life was different now. Before the war, I simply trained to get better and increase our chances of winning, but now, I am the leader of two packs and have more duties than I could have imagined. Life was different but one thing remained constant– my life was difficult.“Are you with me, Luna?” Andrew’s voice called me out of my self-pitying thoughts. I blinked rapidly, composing myself despite my desire to just go home, be with my kids, and–“Do you want to take the day off? I can handle the pack affairs while you recuperate.” Andrew offered and Seth who was sitting on the chair beside him nodded in agreement. But to be honest, I have rested enough. It’s been two months after the war and while a lot still needed to be fixed, the pack was recovering better than I thought it would, thanks to the help I have gotten from both sides– White Shade and Dark Moon.Andrew and Seth have been helping with Dark Moon’s affair and the elders of the White Wolves have been very helpful

AURELIA~~Perhaps it was anger or hate, I couldn’t tell. Or maybe it was both. I was angry that Tristan was back to his feet even though I permitted Lori to send some Mender to Black Fur Pack to help him after Beta Louis took the oath, signed the peace treaty, and pleaded for help. I was so angry that my mate had to fall and Tristan got to rise again even though he didn’t deserve it.And for the hate, it was simple– I hated Tristan.Although my hate for Larisa was greater, Tristan wasn’t far from being another Larisa to me–“Talking about that bitch. She has had enough peace, don’t you think? It’s time we pay her another visit.” Inara snarled into my mind, fueling the hatred in my heart. My wolf had taken a hobby in tearing Larisa apart since she had become our prisoner– one that I wasn’t ready to kill just yet. Each time we pay her a visit in her cell, we torture her until death flashes before her eyes, leave her to healers to heal her, and return to start the process all over

ALPHA TRISTAN~~“You should take your leave.” The he-wolf who smelled like a strong gamma seethed at me. “She doesn’t want to see you.”Although I had been standing by the border of Dark Moon Pack for hours, I intended to remain there until I got to see Aurelia. “C’mon, Gamma Seth. You know we mean no harm.” Louis, who had officially resumed his duties as my Beta after I was reinstalled as Alpha, said to the strong Gamma. “This is a peaceful visit.”I simply listened as my Beta negotiated with the Gamma, feeling more like Louis was the Alpha. I would be lying if I said I haven’t felt useless these past few days. After regaining consciousness, I found out that Louis had become more influential, not only in my pack. Obviously. “Your ego is bruised?” Dolf mocked me. But his assumptions weren’t exactly the case. I just couldn’t wait to get back my strength and become myself again. “This isn’t about your intention, Beta Louis. It’s about my Alpha and Luna's wishes.” The Gamma answere

AURELIA~~“I thought we would take it all out on him?” Inara etched into my mind as I slowly made my way home after seeing Tristan. She was referring to the anger still very much alive within me. “You have so much left. I suggest we visit the witch tonight–” I stunned myself and Inara when I said, “I think I’d rather stay at home with my family tonight.” Usually, or more accurately, most nights, I visit Larisa’s cell and our at my anger on her. But I didn’t have the will to hear her cry tonight, not that she has suddenly become less deserving of torture but my kids deserve to see me before going to bed tonight. They deserve their mama.“They do, don’t they?” Inara affirmed sadly. I knew my wolf was worried I would break down when I saw Raiden just lying in bed again but I was determined to be with Katie and Kyle even if that meant I had to stare at Raiden– evidence of my failure. A part of my consciousness pumped these words into my mind, “Doesn’t Raiden deserve to feel your p

Princess Katie Anne~~“Why won’t anyone answer their damn phones?” I gritted, resisting the urge to throw my cellphone against the wall. Before I left home, we agreed that my family members would be accessible and that they would call me at least once every day, but even though this was my second morning in Black Fur, that agreement seemed to mean nothing.“There’s no special occasion. No ceremony or ritual that could have kept them busy since yesterday. I am beginning to worry,” Zuri said to me.However, I was too angry to be worried. I felt like my mom was screwing me because she already knew I would discover the truths she had tried hard to hide from me during my stay in Black Fur. Hell, I am certain she knew why I was trying to reach her.“Are they ignoring the calls intentionally?” Zoe queried, her confusion mixing with Zuri’s. “That’s far-fetched, Katie. We might have to be patient and—”A sharp knock on the door disrupted Zoe’s statement.I made the mistake of assuming that

DAVIEN~~Seeing Cole last night at the welcome party confirmed that my parents were trying their best to rile me up. The party wasn’t enjoyable for either Katie or me, but we didn’t leave until it ended. While I spent the entire night thinking about when my dad would tell me why he asked me to come home, Katie spent it wondering why no one from Dark Moon was answering the countless calls she put through.I could feel her troubled mind as if it were mine, and it pained me that all I could do was hold her.“You should talk to Jade. Perhaps she might be able to shed more light—” Dolf started, but he cut himself off and sighed. “Never mind. What she needed was to speak to her parents. She needs answers that Jade or anyone else can’t provide.“I still have to have a word with Jade. She shouldn’t have accused Katie like she did yesterday,” I said to Dolf, even though I agreed with his conclusion.Looking down at Katie’s restless face, I made up my mind to keep her far away from Cole, who

Princess Katie Anne~~“I won’t let them treat you like this.”I seethed as the tension around us thickened, even though the crowd was still cheering. Davien’s hold around my waist became tighter, and I knew he didn’t want me to lash out, but I had had enough of this. How could they treat him like he didn’t exist, even in a ceremony? Amber had a seat to herself, and so did Damien, who wouldn’t stop staring at me like the creep he was. His parents also dared to flash those false smiles my way, walking over to clearly show me to my seat.“Thank you for joining us, Princess Katie,” Alpha Jarrett uttered with a light voice, and cheers echoed through the hall as members of the Black Fur Pack jubilated. However, I wasn’t merry like the rest of them, and with every second that passed, it became harder to pretend.“Please sit, Princess.” As expected, Luna Cynthia pointed at the only empty seat on the higher platform in the hall.Zoe barked within me, “The audacity!”My wolf’s anger only fue

DAVIEN~~“That can’t be,” Katie whispered as she staggered into the bedroom, her face pale and hands trembling.I picked up the bag Jade had dropped, followed Katie into our bedroom, and locked the door behind me.“She really is dead?” She asked me, horror etched into her stormy blue eyes.I nodded, shocked that Katie didn’t know that Aunt Jessica had died thirteen years ago. My mate collapsed on the bed, and I knelt before her, holding her hand and telling her to breathe.“To protect Katie and Kyle, Aurelia hid the news of Jessica’s death from them. I also don’t know the full story, but I am at fault because of the part I played. Larisa might have pulled the trigger that killed Jessica, but I put her in the position to get killed for my selfish desires,” Dolf said to me, taking on the blame even though we all knew he had nothing to do with everything that went down thirteen years ago.“You mean it’s all Tristan’s fault. You can’t take the blame, Dolf, and it wasn’t right for Jade

Princess Katie Anne~~Davien and I woke up late in the afternoon. While Davien had more than enough reason to sleep for as long as we did, I didn’t have any because—“You have more than enough reasons, too, Katie. Have you forgotten what Davien did to you before you both slept?” Zoe asked before shoving explicit images of Davien fucking me into my mind as if I didn’t live that memory a few hours ago.I turned red and threw the covers over my face while Davien went to answer the door. Fortunately for whoever was at the door, Davien and I woke up before he or she could disrupt the peace we worked hard to achieve.I wouldn’t have forgiven the person at the door if they had woken Davien, regardless of the reason.“Hey, Jade. Why are you here?” The familiarity and affection in Davien’s voice didn’t go unnoticed.Zuri chimed through the mind link, “I thought he said he didn’t have a friend here? Who is Jade, and why does he smell as happy as he sounds?”Call me jealous, but I was out of

Princess Katie Anne~~My mate was struggling. I could sense that fact all through the night, but I had to pretend like I didn’t because I didn’t know how to help him. The second I opened my eyes this morning and saw his face, I knew he didn’t get enough sleep or maybe didn’t get to sleep at all.It was at that point that I knew I had to find a way to help him escape the demons that haunted him in his sleep. It’s only been a night in Black Fur, and he already looked like shit. I couldn’t let his family think for a minute that they were getting to him.“What if I take the memories away?” I blurted before I could stop myself.Damien, who had just rolled out of bed, stopped dead in his tracks and looked at me with his brows raised. “Huh?”“I don’t really know how, but I know Grandma Iris performed a trick that erased Kyle’s memories after he was rescued from Larisa. I can call her, ask her how to do it, and do the same for you so you can have peace, Davien.”I tried to explain to my ma

DAVIEN~~Of course, the right-hand side of the father. Of our father.Since we were young but old enough to understand power and the amount that came with being the pack's next Alpha, Damien had made himself our dad’s right hand, and our dad made it easier for him to do that since he was the favorite child.Usually, I would have chosen to sit at the foot of the table or eat alone, but since my dad was invited to dinner and asked to sit right here by my dad, I should have known Damien would have a problem with that.“He is so full of himself,” Dolf grumbled within me, almost showing himself and just how powerful he was, even though we had both agreed to keep him a secret for as long as possible. My family still didn’t know I had a wolf, and when they found out, I knew it would change everything. My brother would most likely see me as a threat for the first time since we were born.“Wait till they find out I am your wolf,” Dolf chuckled as Katie’s response to Damien echoed through th

Princess Katie Anne~~Speaking to my family over the phone was new. I had never had to communicate with them through any form of technology, but since I was far from them and wouldn’t be able to use the mindlink, I had to settle for my cellphone, which I hardly used before now.“I have to go now, Dad. It’s dinnertime here, and it would be rude to keep the leaders of this pack waiting for me,” I said to my dad, who had refused to end the call.He wasn’t the only one who took ages before passing the phone to someone else. Every one of my siblings, except Kyle, who wasn’t with the family currently, wouldn’t let the phone go, and they also wouldn’t put it on speaker so I could talk to everyone simultaneously. My mom, being her sacrificial and understanding self, let the phone go after she made sure I was fine, but of course, my dad had to say, “I am sure they can wait. You are the princess, and you are talking to your dad. You know? The King?”“That’s just being cocky, Dad.” I laughed

DAVIEN~~My Ferocious CatGoddess! I was so right when I referred to my mate as that. She was everything a ferocious cat should be—meek, calculative, elegant, beautiful, and deadly. She could be a domesticated cat, but one should never mistake that for weakness, because she was naturally a wild one, even in bed.Yeah, seeing and hearing her insult Damien had my balls tightening. I could see the bear in me surfacing, ready to rip Katie’s clothes to shreds as soon as we got to our room—“This is your room, Princess Katie,” my mom announced, and I knew better than to ignore the fact that she called it Katie’s room and not OUR room. My mom confirmed that her choice of words wasn’t a mistake when she added, “You can stay in your old room after you help the princess settle in, Dave.”Katie was quick to say, “We will be staying in the same room, Luna Cynthia.”My mom smiled sheepishly and muttered, “There are many rooms in the mansion, Princess. You can have all the privacy you need, and D
