I stood in front of the bathroom mirror, nervously deciding what to do with my hair. I put it up and took it down three times, finally deciding to leave it down. I ran my hands through my curls before analyzing my outfit in the mirror. I thought that the lingerie set looked good on the mannequin, but I didn't realize how provocative it'd look on me. The part that covered my breasts were see through and the thong made it look like I wasn't even wearing bottoms. I felt completely exposed.
I sucked in a breath, turning on the faucet and quickly patted water on my face. Finally gaining the courage, I opened the door and walked out of the bathroom. The floor was cold in the hallway from the bathroom to the master suite so I sped walked to the bedroom. The door was open, and Callum was sitting on the bed in a black wife beater and gray boxer briefs. His hair was tousled like he'd been running his fingers through it, and his face was slightly flushed. I had a feeling he was just as
As we drove back to the cabin, I could feel that the energy of our perfect day had been shifted. Music played in the car, while Callum kept his eyes on the road, not saying a word."So, Kelly seems nice." I said, trying to ease the tension."She can be." He mumbled quietly.I had come to find out that Kelly and Callum basically knew each other their whole lives. Her family owned the lake house next to his grandparents cabin, and every summer when he visited from Wales, he would spend time there with Kelly and her brothers. They had lost contact after his grandparents passed away. Apparently Kelly and her older brother now live in the lake house to commute to their college. After their little reunion, I could tell that there was something up with Callum, I didn't know the details of their relationship, but by the way he was acting, I could tell that they were involved.I continued to look at him as we pulled
My head ached when I woke up. I sat up and instantly began to feel dizziness. When I opened my eyes, I realized that I was in the living room of the cabin instead of the bedroom that Callum and I had shared this past weekend. Looking around, I saw that Callum wasn't here.I stood up and began to walk to the stairs, but tripped over something hard. Looking down, I realized it was a person, that person being Kelly's brother Bryan."What the hell." He groaned. "You stepped on my head." He said rubbing his head, as he got up and sat on the couch."I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were down there But why were you sleeping on the ground? Better question, why are you here?" I asked."You don't remember? I kept you company last night while Callum and my sister talked upstairs."Thinking on last night, the last thing I remember was Callum asking him and Kelly to leave after we hung out with them for a brief ti
Callum's POVI buried my head into my pillow, groaning. I felt Dylan's hand rubbing my back up and down, I turned in her direction, my eyes still closed, and wrapped my arms around her tightly. Breathing in her scent, something felt off, she smelled like lavender and weed.I opened my eyes to discover that my arms were around Kelly."What the hell?!" I yelled, pulling away from her.She smiled and sat up."What's the problem Gage? It's nothing you haven't seen before."I jumped out of the bed, realizing that she was completely naked. I only had boxers on, so I quickly grabbed my jeans that were by the bed and threw them on."Kelly what is going on? Why are you naked and in bed with me? And where is my girlfriend?!" I said, looking around the room frantically. My eyes settled on the chair where Dylan's things were scattered the night before but now her stuff was nowhere to be found."Don't tell me you don't remember last night?"
"Dylan, someone is at the door for you." My dad said, cracking my door open."Who is it?" I asked, fully knowing that I wouldn't like the answer."Callum." He responded, cringing. My stomach turned. I wish he hadn't come here."Tell him to go home, and to not come back, please." I said, tears welling up in my eyes."What did he do?" My dad asked, walking into my room.I turned my head away from him so that he couldn't see me crying. "He cheated on me." I sobbed. My father sat on my bed and pulled me into his arms. "I'm so sorry, Dyl."He got up abruptly. "I'm gonna go and take care of it."After hearing his footsteps angrily descend down the stairs, I got up and walked quietly to the top of the staircase. I could hear Callum and my dad arguing, voices raised, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. There was some commotion and then I heard Callum's voice clearly."Dyla
I took a sip of my iced coffee, and swirled my straw around the glass."Hey, look at me." Callum said, lifting my chin up with his index finger. Our eyes met, and my breath hitched."You believe me, don't you? That I couldn't, I wouldn't do that to you." He said, holding my hand.I nodded. "I do now, but it was hard Callum, it was. When I saw you in that bed with her, I felt like I was going to die. I know that sounds extreme, but it's true, I thought that maybe you had unresolved feelings for Kelly and seeing her again brought them back up. I thought you didn't feel about me the way I feel about you."He looked at me incredulously."Dylan, I have no feelings for that girl whatsoever. Her doing this just reaffirmed that for me. She did this to break us, she wanted to hurt me and the only way she could do that was by hurting you. I love you sugarplum, you're the love of my life. Don't you get that?" He smiled softly.I quickly wiped the stray
"Thanks for letting me stay here." I said to Amy, as I put my clothes into the empty drawers in her guestroom."It's no problem, there are so many rooms here and my parents are literally never here so you can stay however long you need."I hugged her tightly. "Thank you for everything Amy, you have been such a good friend to me."She rolled her eyes dramatically and twirled the end of her hair with her finger. "Yea well you're the most real friend I've ever had so.." she trailed. I hugged her again, even tighter."You love me, dont you." I said, grinning. She pushed me off of her. "Yea, yea whatever."I laughed and took a seat on the bed. "I love you too, and hopefully my father comes to his senses so I'm not in your space too long." I said, letting out a deep sigh."Screw your dad, you can stay here until we graduate. I'd like the company, it'd be like a never ending sleeping over." Amy smiled."Maybe," I shrugged.
I combed through the crowd of people spread throughout Amy's house looking for a less populated spot to wait for Callum. I walked into the kitchen, quickly scanning the room, but only saw people I didnt know. I texted Callum, letting him know that I was in the kitchen and to meet me here when he arrived.I grabbed a vanilla cupcake off of the island and dipped my finger in the buttercream frosting and licked it off."Are those any good? I don't wanna risk the calories if they're not." Someone said from behind me. I turned around startled, but looking around, I didn't see anyone over the large marble counter."Down here." The voice said.I looked down and met the eyes of a girl that had to be around 4'10. She had beautiful mocha skin and light brown eyes. She had cat-like makeup on, and black kitten ears sat on her curly afro.
I sat in third period staring out the window, completely unaware of what topic was being talked about in class. My eyes were focused on the parking lot, scanning every car that drove through, hoping to see Callum's.I hadn't heard from Callum in two days, and I was beginning to get worried. The last thing he told me was that he needed time, and I had no idea what that even meant. I began to think about the blow up we had two mornings ago, trying to figure out how everything could go so wrong.-"What are those marks on your arm?"Callum stood up and walked towards me, while I looked down at my arm wondering at what point in the night did my concealer come off.I took a step back as he got closer, and he looked at me suspiciously."Dyl? What is that?" He asked, now right in front of me.
6 months later“So do you wanna grab lunch after your class? I don’t have class until 2:30.”“I have a meeting with my advisor at 1 so it’ll have to be after that.” I said, double checking my schedule on my phone.“Okay great, that works. Text me okay, and good luck on your first day.”“Thanks Davia I will, and good luck to you too.” I replied, waving goodbye to roommate.Still having fifteen minutes before my first class started, I took my time walking to the english building so that I could really take in the campus. Students were spread throughout the quad, some reading, some talking, and a few people napping. As I looked around, it was clear to me th
“Can I take you out to dinner tonight? We can drive up to Sunset and go to Bossa Nova or something.” Callum asked nervously.I took a sip of my seltzer water and shook my head. “I’m sorry, I can’t. My dad has a meeting out of town and I have to watch Spencer after school.”He frowned. “What happened to his nanny?”“I gave her the day off, I wanted to spend more time with him.” I said.He looked down and rubbed his hands on his jeans.“Is everything okay Callum? You seem off.” I reached over and touched his cheek. “We can hang out later tonight if you want, Spencer’s night nurse should be at my house around 9.”“I’m fine, really.” He smiled. “And 9 is good. Can you come over to my house?”I nodded and stood up. &
“How do I look? Be honest.” I asked my father.“Dylan you look perfect.” He said, obviously.“No seriously Dad, are my bruises covered up well? I don’t want to look crazy over there.”He laughed. “As I said, you’re perfect. You did much more damage to the girl than she did to you. I can’t even tell you’ve been fighting.”“Okay, good.”“But no more fighting, right?” He asked, his brows raised.“Nope, but this one was a long time coming.” I smirked.“You know what, it really was.” He laughed.
“I’m so glad you’re back.” A blonde girl in my American history class whispered to me.“Do I know you?” I asked, confused. She looked offended by my question, and said “I’m Alice, I’m on the cheer team with Mel.”I stared at her, still unable to recognize her.“I was at your birthday party.” She stated, obviously. The bell rang, saving me from further interacting with her. I quickly put my things into my bag, and bolted out of the classroom.“Dylan.” I heard, the second I stepped into the hall.“Callum.” I smiled, turning around to him. I could tell he was upset with me by his tone.
“Do you want me to pick you up?” Callum asked nervously.“No, Amy’s on her way to get me.” I said, double checking my hair in my rear view mirror.“And you’re sure you’re okay?”“Yes Cal, I’m fine. I told you, I was just tired. I’ll see you at school, alright?” I said to him.“Okay, I love you. I’ll see you soon.”“I love you too Callum.” I responded, before ending the call.I felt bad for lying to him, but if I told him where I was really going I knew that he’d try to stop me. I approached the building, and saw Detective Clarke standing outside waiting for me.“Thank you
6 weeks later“Wow.” I said, staring at myself in the mirror. My long, dark curls were now shoulder length and honey brown, with blonde highlights. I looked completely different, which was exactly what I was going for.“You like?” My hairstylist, Monica said as she added volume to my hair with her fingers.“I love, thank you so much!” I grinned at her in the mirror.“Of course my love, and it’s on the house.”“What?” I said turning around to look at her face to face.“All I ask is that you post a picture of your new look on instagram and tag the salon.” She said.
My psychiatrist, Dr Scott, sat in my hospital room just as she did everyday for the past two weeks, and just stared at me. In silence.“What do you want me to say? I already told you everything that happened. What more do you want?” I was becoming increasingly irritated with this woman. Every day it was the same thing. I recounted my kidnapping, and my feelings towards Kelly. I had nothing left to say about the situation, I only wanted to forget it.“Let’s talk about the light situation.” She said, pushing her glasses up.“What light situation?” I asked, confused.“Well, since you came out of your coma, you haven’t been able to sleep in the dark. Your room light has been on every night for the last two weeks.&rdq
"So I'm cleared? I can go home now?" I asked Dr Hines.I had been concious for a little over a week now, and I was finally beginning to feel like myself again. My body was getting back to normal, and all I wanted to do was be anywhere but the hospital now."You're cleared from me, yes. Your physical injuries should take a few more weeks to heal; and with a steady and consistent diet you should be back to your normal weight soon. However, Dr Scott still has some concerns about your mental state." He said."My mental state?""Her mental state?" Callum and I said simultaneously.Dr Hines nodded. "Until she clears you, you're stuck here with me." He smiled sadly."But I'm fine, really. I think it's time I go home. I miss my bed, and my books, and my shower." I ranted.Callum held my hand. "I can go to your house and grab some books if you want."I shook my head. "I want to be able to
Amy left before Callum arrived so that him and I would have privacy. The hospital had called my father, who was also on his way. I was excited to see him, but I hoped that Callum would come before he did.I couldn't wait to see Callum. As I lied back, trying to stretch my legs, there was a knock on the door."Come in." I called out, unable to see who was at the door.A woman walked into the room. She wore an expensive looking red dress with a white lab coat over it, and thick black framed glasses.A man walked in behind her, he looked to be in his mid thirties wearing a dark blue suit."Hi, can I help you?" I asked the both of them."Hi Dylan, I'm Dr. Scott. I am a psychiatrist here at the hospital, Dr. Hines sent me to pay you a visit. Is it okay if the detective here asks you a few questions?" She asked.I looked back and forth between t
