When school was over, I met Callum in the parking lot so that he could take me home to change for work. Even though I enjoyed the time he took me on his motorcycle, I was glad he decided to drive his car today.
"You want to play your music?" He asked, holding the aux cord in front of me.
"You seem to have forgotten that I don't have my phone."
"Play it from my phone." He replied, handing me his cellphone before pulling out of the school parking lot.
I scrolled through his apple music library, and decided to play Drake's More Life album on shuffle.
Callum laughed as Teenage Fever began to play.
"Sometimes I feel like you like Drake more than you like me." He said, shaking his head.
I laughed and held his free hand as he drove.
"Maybe just a little." I said, playfully.
He took his hand from mine and gasped, putting it on his heart. "Why don't you go and be with him then!"
Still laughing, I replied "If I could I woul
"I didn't realize they were letting wild animals into restaurants." Evan said, standing up and facing Callum.Callum looked pissed off, more angry than I had ever seen him."And I didn't know they let homophobic assholes in here either." Callum responded, crossing his arms and giving Evan a death glare. They both stared each other down, fuming. I got up from my seat, and grabbed Callum's hand, pulling him away from Evan."Hey, do you wanna wait for me in the car till my shift is over?" I asked, looking up at him."No." He shook his head. "I think I'll stay." He said, dismissing me, while still glaring at Evan."Please, Callum. I don't want any drama at my workplace." I said, pleadingly."No Dylan! That's final." He said to me, his jaw clenched.Callum didn't even look at me, he continued to scowl at Evan."You're actually dating this guy? What? Are you into criminals?" Evan asked m
"Let's see your continue watching watching list, I promise I won't judge you." Amy said, as I scrolled through my Netflix profile.I laughed, and responded, "It's fine, I'm not ashamed of my shows." I'd like to think that I have good taste.Amy had been pestering me all last week for my cellphone number, and when I finally gave it to her, she texted me nonstop.I thought it was weird that a girl I had gone to school with for almost four years and never spoke one word to now wanted to be friends, but I decided to give her a chance anyway. She judged me before she knew me, and I did the same with her. I found out that Amy Fisher was definitely not the person I thought she was. In my mind, she was this rich girl that got whatever she wanted, and any guy she desired. I thought she would be stuck up and mean, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Instead, she was funny, outspoken, and actually a very nice
After driving for about thirty minutes (thirty minutes I spent begging Callum to tell me where we were going), we finally pulled up to my favorite restaurant Bettola.I turned to Callum, surprised. "How did you know this was my favorite restaurant? I don't remember telling you about it."He smirked, and shrugged. "I have my ways. This is only part one of the surprise, so don't get so excited just yet."I leaned over and pressed my lips against his. "Whatever it is, I know I'm gonna love it.""Wait here." Callum said, before getting out of the car. A second later he opened up the passenger side door for me.I stepped out of the car and put my arms around his neck."What did I do to get such a sweet boyfriend." I whispered, staring up at him."I do what I can, sugarplum." He said, kissing me. "C'mon, let's go. I know you're hungry." He said while interlocking our fingers. We walk
As I zipped up the fourth dress I've tried on, a pile of dresses were dumped on my head from outside of the changing room."Amy! What is wrong you!?" I yelled through the door."Sorry!" She yelled back. "I'll warn you next time."I shook my head even though she couldn't see me. "There won't be a next time. I've tried on a million dresses at this point, I'm over it.""No, No, try on one more. There's a lavender dress in the pile that I just threw, that would look amazing on you. I promise, that's the last one I'll make you try on." Amy pleaded."Fine, but if I don't like it, we're leaving and I'll wear something from my closet." I said to her as I shuffled through the pile of dresses. There was only one lavender colored satin dress in the pile, and I could see that it was really short with a plunging neckline."Amy, I don't know about this dress, did you forget how tall I am, this dress looks very short." I stated as I held the dress up in fr
My birthday party had been going on for several hours now, and I'd been conversing with random people non stop. Many of the adults that my father invited had already left, but all the kids from my school were still here. Hector met my dad for the first time, I felt a little weird introducing them because Hector had been more of a father to me than my own father was, nevertheless, their meeting went nicely. Soon after the whole awkward exchange with Callum's parents and Eliza, they found an excuse to leave, promising that they'd celebrate my birthday privately, at their home. Callum obviously stayed, and now were sitting in the kitchen eating and watching Amy float around the party like a social butterfly."I don't know who seventy five percent of these people are." I whispered to Callum as I popped a piece of bacon wrapped shrimp in my mouth."Well your dad had me invite some people from your job, and when I told Amy about the surprise party I guess she just went a littl
I pushed Justin so hard that I stumbled into the bathroom door, and fell to the ground. Vigorously wiping my mouth with the back of my hand, I glared up at him in shock. His cloudy eyes stared into mine as if they were searching for an answer to an unasked question."What? I-, why would you do that?" I asked as I remained on the floor."I love you, I just.. I don't know what else to say. Dylan please." Tears were welling up in his eyes as he looked down at me."What do you mean please? Please what!? Justin you're my step brother! We literally grew up together! And I love Callum." I didn't realize I was crying until a tear dropped on my lap. I didn't know why I was crying, maybe it was because I was drunk or in shock, but the tears kept coming.A single tear fell from Justin's eyes, and he quickly wiped it away. "I know I haven't always treated you well, but it was only because I tried to deny my feelings for so long, and I can't anymore. I just, I need to be
Eliza's POV (during the party)"Honey do you have to turn off the lights? Is that really necessary?" I groaned."Yes it is. It's a surprise party, so get over yourself and crouch down." Steven whispered, angrily.I rolled my eyes, grateful that he couldn't see me. I refuse to crouch down like an idiot, I am pregnant for God sake. I could hear the front door being unlocked, and without warning, Steven turns on the lights and everyone around me yelled surprise at Dylan. I couldn't bother, it's not like anyone would notice if I said it or not. She walked in with her slutty little friend trailing behind her. If I said Dylan didn't look good, I'd be lying; but I'd never admit it to her. She had straightened that God awful mess on her head, finally showed some skin, and actually looked halfway decent. She stood there with a shock expression on her face when her father went to approach her for a hug. Everyone was making such a big fuss over her and it was irrit
After the party, Callum stayed at my place for the rest of the weekend, helping me clean up before my dad and Eliza came home. Though most of their friends were here, both Mel and Justin went awol, leaving the mess us to clean alone. For the past few days, it seemed like Justin was activity avoiding me. I wanted to speak to him about what went on at my party, but anytime I'd see him at home, he'd run in the other direction. At school, it was like he didn't even exist. I hadn't seen him around any of his football friends lately and he seemed to be distancing himself from everyone.I begged Callum not to confront him, I couldn't deal with anymore conflict in my life. After some convincing, Callum agreed not to do anything as long as Justin stayed away, which he had been. I wanted to move on and forget about everything that had went on, and Callum felt the same way. After a long week of school and work I was barely able to
6 months later“So do you wanna grab lunch after your class? I don’t have class until 2:30.”“I have a meeting with my advisor at 1 so it’ll have to be after that.” I said, double checking my schedule on my phone.“Okay great, that works. Text me okay, and good luck on your first day.”“Thanks Davia I will, and good luck to you too.” I replied, waving goodbye to roommate.Still having fifteen minutes before my first class started, I took my time walking to the english building so that I could really take in the campus. Students were spread throughout the quad, some reading, some talking, and a few people napping. As I looked around, it was clear to me th
“Can I take you out to dinner tonight? We can drive up to Sunset and go to Bossa Nova or something.” Callum asked nervously.I took a sip of my seltzer water and shook my head. “I’m sorry, I can’t. My dad has a meeting out of town and I have to watch Spencer after school.”He frowned. “What happened to his nanny?”“I gave her the day off, I wanted to spend more time with him.” I said.He looked down and rubbed his hands on his jeans.“Is everything okay Callum? You seem off.” I reached over and touched his cheek. “We can hang out later tonight if you want, Spencer’s night nurse should be at my house around 9.”“I’m fine, really.” He smiled. “And 9 is good. Can you come over to my house?”I nodded and stood up. &
“How do I look? Be honest.” I asked my father.“Dylan you look perfect.” He said, obviously.“No seriously Dad, are my bruises covered up well? I don’t want to look crazy over there.”He laughed. “As I said, you’re perfect. You did much more damage to the girl than she did to you. I can’t even tell you’ve been fighting.”“Okay, good.”“But no more fighting, right?” He asked, his brows raised.“Nope, but this one was a long time coming.” I smirked.“You know what, it really was.” He laughed.
“I’m so glad you’re back.” A blonde girl in my American history class whispered to me.“Do I know you?” I asked, confused. She looked offended by my question, and said “I’m Alice, I’m on the cheer team with Mel.”I stared at her, still unable to recognize her.“I was at your birthday party.” She stated, obviously. The bell rang, saving me from further interacting with her. I quickly put my things into my bag, and bolted out of the classroom.“Dylan.” I heard, the second I stepped into the hall.“Callum.” I smiled, turning around to him. I could tell he was upset with me by his tone.
“Do you want me to pick you up?” Callum asked nervously.“No, Amy’s on her way to get me.” I said, double checking my hair in my rear view mirror.“And you’re sure you’re okay?”“Yes Cal, I’m fine. I told you, I was just tired. I’ll see you at school, alright?” I said to him.“Okay, I love you. I’ll see you soon.”“I love you too Callum.” I responded, before ending the call.I felt bad for lying to him, but if I told him where I was really going I knew that he’d try to stop me. I approached the building, and saw Detective Clarke standing outside waiting for me.“Thank you
6 weeks later“Wow.” I said, staring at myself in the mirror. My long, dark curls were now shoulder length and honey brown, with blonde highlights. I looked completely different, which was exactly what I was going for.“You like?” My hairstylist, Monica said as she added volume to my hair with her fingers.“I love, thank you so much!” I grinned at her in the mirror.“Of course my love, and it’s on the house.”“What?” I said turning around to look at her face to face.“All I ask is that you post a picture of your new look on instagram and tag the salon.” She said.
My psychiatrist, Dr Scott, sat in my hospital room just as she did everyday for the past two weeks, and just stared at me. In silence.“What do you want me to say? I already told you everything that happened. What more do you want?” I was becoming increasingly irritated with this woman. Every day it was the same thing. I recounted my kidnapping, and my feelings towards Kelly. I had nothing left to say about the situation, I only wanted to forget it.“Let’s talk about the light situation.” She said, pushing her glasses up.“What light situation?” I asked, confused.“Well, since you came out of your coma, you haven’t been able to sleep in the dark. Your room light has been on every night for the last two weeks.&rdq
"So I'm cleared? I can go home now?" I asked Dr Hines.I had been concious for a little over a week now, and I was finally beginning to feel like myself again. My body was getting back to normal, and all I wanted to do was be anywhere but the hospital now."You're cleared from me, yes. Your physical injuries should take a few more weeks to heal; and with a steady and consistent diet you should be back to your normal weight soon. However, Dr Scott still has some concerns about your mental state." He said."My mental state?""Her mental state?" Callum and I said simultaneously.Dr Hines nodded. "Until she clears you, you're stuck here with me." He smiled sadly."But I'm fine, really. I think it's time I go home. I miss my bed, and my books, and my shower." I ranted.Callum held my hand. "I can go to your house and grab some books if you want."I shook my head. "I want to be able to
Amy left before Callum arrived so that him and I would have privacy. The hospital had called my father, who was also on his way. I was excited to see him, but I hoped that Callum would come before he did.I couldn't wait to see Callum. As I lied back, trying to stretch my legs, there was a knock on the door."Come in." I called out, unable to see who was at the door.A woman walked into the room. She wore an expensive looking red dress with a white lab coat over it, and thick black framed glasses.A man walked in behind her, he looked to be in his mid thirties wearing a dark blue suit."Hi, can I help you?" I asked the both of them."Hi Dylan, I'm Dr. Scott. I am a psychiatrist here at the hospital, Dr. Hines sent me to pay you a visit. Is it okay if the detective here asks you a few questions?" She asked.I looked back and forth between t
