I arrived at work earlier than usual, even though I hadn’t slept well the night before. I could figure out why I was so restless.

After Sydney and I had our fun back-and-forth about guys and their body parts, I was laughing so hard. I didn’t know she had such a cheeky side.

As I settled into my work, I tried to shake off the tiredness. The office was quiet, so I used the early hours to catch up on tasks and organize my space.

Sydney is managing her father's business and doing well. She never ceases to amaze me.

She’s decided to avoid serious relationships because of past heartache. Now, she prefers no-strings-attached friendships with men, just to satisfy her lady bit. She has an active sex life.

Today, I woke up from a terrifying dream that made my heart race. In the dream, Logan stabbed Asher multiple times while I just stood there, doing nothing.

I cried my eyes out in the dream, and when I woke up, I could still feel the tears rolling down my face. It was so unsettling.

Did he have to follow me to work again after I made it clear I didn’t want anything to do with him? It’s starting to get on my nerves. I had to buy a new dress I hadn’t planned and spend extra cash on coffee.Sure, he agreed to pay, but I said no.But I didn’t want to deal with any man right now, no matter what their intentions were. I just want to avoid the whole mess.I needed to stay focused on my work and not let Ethan’s presence throw me off balance. I glanced over at the counter and saw him still examining the flowers, looking deeply focused. But I couldn’t hold back any longer. I walked up to him, and as soon as I approached, he looked up and met my gaze. “Can I help you, Ms. Witte?” he asked.I was taken aback that he even knew my last name. Why did he have to insert himself where he wasn’t wanted? What was his deal?I tried to steady my voice and not let my irritation show. “I just wanted to know why you’re here,” I said. “I made it clear earlier that I don’t want to have an

I froze when I heard the voice behind me. I turned around and saw that it was Ethan. I wasn’t sure how to feel, should I be happy that he stood up for me, or should I just roll my eyes? This was something I had under control, and now it looks like he was a superhero who saved me from a bully. But I could feel the small thrill that ran through me. “Get a grip,” I scolded myself. The guy looked up and saw that Ethan wasn’t pleased. He gave Ethan a disdainful look, his hand forming into a fist. "You think because you own half the town you can intimidate me? Hell no. You know what, get a life," he sneered.Ethan wasn’t bothered at all. He stepped closer, and everyone watched to see what would happen. "I’m not going to let you cause trouble here, and I don’t appreciate you talking down to one of my employees. So get out, just like she told you earlier," Ethan said, his voice low while pointing towards the door. The man’s eyes looked around the room, looking for support, but I could te

I placed my hand on my chest, realizing who it was. He must have noticed because he stopped the car, got out quickly, and looked at me in concern.“I’m so sorry I scared you,” he said, looking at me anxiously.I avoided his gaze, staring off to the side. “I’m fine, thank you.”“Can I give you a ride home? I’m not taking no for an answer,” Ethan asked, not giving me a chance to refuse.“You’re not going my way, sir,” I said.“Oh, please, stop with the ‘sir’ and just call me Ethan,” he replied with a smile. “But you’re my boss,” I said.“Hop in. You’re going to Oak Street, right? It’s just three streets away from here.” He asked as he opened the car door for me.I glanced at his car, weighing my options. The car was a sleek, black BMW 5 Series with shiny chrome details. Inside, the seats were deep brown leather, soft and inviting. The dashboard has high-tech controls and a large touchscreen display, giving it a modern feel. Soft lighting added a glow to the interior, with a pleasant

“Mason and I are just friends with benefits,” Sydney said casually as she walked to the kitchen. I sat on the couch, watching her open and close the refrigerator. She returned with a bottle of water and handed it to me. My eyes were on her the whole time. Noticing my gaze, she asked, “What is it?”I took the bottle of water from her, still trying to come to terms with what she said. “So, that’s why you were so quick to brush him off?”Sydney shrugged. “Exactly. I wasn’t ready for anything serious, and he was starting to get attached.”I took a sip of water, trying to absorb everything. “And what about Ethan? You seemed pretty familiar with him.”“Ethan and Mason are brothers. We’re old friends. Nothing more, though.”I nodded, feeling a bit uneasy. I wasn’t sure what to say next. I didn’t want to judge her, and I didn’t fully understand the dynamic between her and Mason. “It’s just that I don’t know what to say,” I admitted. “But Mason seems like a good guy.”“Exactly,” Sydney said

The rest of the week flew by, and the weekend was almost here. Everyone at the flower shop was buzzing about the party. Even though I wasn’t thrilled about going, I knew I couldn’t come up with an excuse to avoid it.I found it interesting how the flower shop operated more like a business than just a local store. We supplied flowers for high-profile events and surprises for big companies each month. I had gotten so used to the shop that I started wondering if I might want to open my own one day.As the weekend approached, I knew I had to attend the party to show my appreciation. On Saturday, I prepared for the event with caution. I tried on a few outfits before settling on something simple but presentable. I wanted to look nice without drawing too much attention. At noon, an S-Class Mercedes parked outside the gate. I saw it from my window just as Mason called to tell me to come outside. I was wearing a sundress that fit well, with a handbag slung over my shoulder. I checked myself

He had a small smile on his face that made me feel a bit jittery. How could someone be so cute and not realize how much they affect others?“You look peaceful when you sleep,” he said. “I just can’t get enough of looking at you.”A blush spread across my face, and I raised my hand to cover it, feeling crimson red from his simple compliment.“Come here,” he said, stretching out his hand. “Let’s go join the others.”I nodded and took his hand. With my bag in my other arm, we walked together toward the party. As we walked toward the party, I wondered if I could allow myself to feel this sense of peace more often. Ethan seemed to offer a security I hadn’t felt in a long time.I hoped this party might be a step toward finding some normalcy and joy, even if just for tonight.“You made it!” Zoey said as Ethan and I approached the backyard where the party was in full swing.“Let me get you something to drink,” Ethan said, heading off as Zoey came into view.“I see you came with Ethan,” Zoey s

I lowered my face to the food on my plate, then slowly looked up at Ethan. His eyes were wide like he’d been caught off guard. Why was he showing interest in me when everyone knew he had a girlfriend? It made me realize why it’s hard to trust people and let my guard down, even when they seem genuinely nice. So, he has a girlfriend and he’s been hitting on me. I decided not to look up again. Instead, I focused on my food.True to their word, the food was delicious, and I found myself feeling full and satisfied. I made a mental note to ask Mason for the recipe later. I hoped he might be willing to share it, even though he had been secretive about it.Zoey soon disappeared from view. I noticed she was talking with a guy and couldn’t stop blushing at whatever he was saying. He was blonde and had a well-built physique, making him quite attractive.Once I finished my meal, I headed towards the swimming pool where people were having fun. I took my drink with me.As I walked towards the poo

Ethan stood there, looking at me with his dreamy blue eyes. I had been trying to ignore it. He sparked something inside me that I feared might consume me if I wasn’t careful. I’d been hurt before and didn’t want to go through that again. He held my hand and gently guided me towards the dance floor. I thought about protesting and keeping my guard up, but he noticed my hesitation. His grip was gentle as he slowly tugged me along. I realized there was no point in resisting; he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. As we approached the dance floor, people started to move away, giving us space. It seemed like they respected Ethan, but it made me uncomfortable to have all eyes on us. Suddenly, Ethan pulled me close, and I ended up pressed against his chest. He held me tight, and it felt like the world around us had stopped. All I could focus on was him. The sensation was powerful and familiar, reminding me of moments with Logan. It was both comforting and frightening to feel this way

"Wait, sorry, my bad," I say, moving the phone away from my ear to double-check the number. I was expecting Ethan's call, but this number is unfamiliar. Yet, the voice on the other end is unmistakable - Logan.I try to sound civil, for Shawn's sake. "What's up?" attempting to keep the tone light."Nothing much, Nadine. Did you sleep well?" I'm not interested in small talk, so I cut to the chase. "Yes, I did. Why are you calling?" The pause is brief, but I sense he hesitates before Logan speaks again. I wait, wondering what he wants to discuss."I was wondering if I can have my time with Shawn today," I recall Shawn's excitement earlier, asking to see his buddy today."Okay," I say, and I can almost hear Logan's sigh of relief on the other end of the line. I'm taken aback - I know he thinks I'll say no. But I'm done fighting; all I want is what's best for my son."What time are you coming?"
