First Day at Work

Sharlynn no longer heard the birds chirping outside the window or the sound of tree branches rubbing against the glass in the window near her bed that always kept her awake. This time, Richie, who had gotten up first and was getting ready to leave, looked at the woman who seemed to be closing her eyes under the sofa with the bedspread looking disheveled.

"What a spoiled girl," Richie muttered as he passed Sharlynn's position and entered the kitchen.

A few minutes later, the lushly lined eyes slowly opened after the irises moved despite the closed lids. Not to be outdone, the nose also moved as if the scent of something rather pungent to the nose disturbed the girl's sleep.

"Eeerrgghhhh!" Sharlynn's voice stretched her body, stretching her muscles after last night's poor sleep due to the completion of the project she had signed the contract for.

Still on her back, Sharlynn blinked as she stared at the wall clock above Richie's bedroom door. Her eyes widened as the clock struck eight.
