FAITH
Fire burned through my veins, and my vision swam as I stared at his tanned hand on her still-flat stomach.
There were numerous gasps of delight for an heir from the crowd, and I glanced around, wondering if maybe I had heard them wrong. Yet, as the horror and pity-filled faces reached me, I knew I hadn’t. Sable smiled up at me from beneath her lashes, placing a hand atop his on her stomach before leaning into his side and fluttering her lashes at him as if they were newlyweds. “What are you talking about?” I whispered to my mate, praying I had heard him wrong. There was no way he had been with Sable. “That’s impossible. I would have felt it.” “I’m so sorry, Faith. It just happened.” Sable said before pushing her bottom lip out, her wide eyes filling with tears as she stared at me as if wanting my forgiveness. “No! You can’t be pregnant.” I said, turning to Ryan before dropping my glare down to his hand still in hers. “She can’t be pregnant! Did you sleep with my sister?” “Faith,” Ryan hissed, and I knew he was angry that I was speaking against him in front of Alpha Cain, but I didn’t care about that. The single syllable was enough to confirm he was speaking the truth. There was no denial or guilt there, only fury that I had the nerve to challenge him so publicly. My heart felt like it was being ripped in two, and my body began to shake as the understanding and betrayal sank in. No! No, Ryan wouldn’t have slept with my little sister! This had to be a bad dream! How long had they been fooling around behind my back? How had I not felt it? My wolf had been feeling weaker lately from him using my magic, but I never thought she was so weak that I wouldn’t feel him violating the sacred mate bond. Now, I felt it. Hearing Ryan admit to cheating made my skin crawl, and my wolf released a loud howl in my mind, so raw and broken that it felt like my head was going to burst. I tried to pull my hand free from his, his touch suddenly feeling like acid, burning my flesh, but he only tightened his hold. “What have you done?” I whispered. I stared at him in horror as my body was consumed in agony. I could feel my wolf rising, clawing at the inside of my brain, wanting to break free and attack my sister. My little sister. How could she? “What have you done?!” I asked Ryan again, the panic in my voice coming out more clearly as I shouted. I had given him everything I had. Every time I found a way to prove to him that I was enough, he just demanded more, but I had nothing more to give him. “Faith, please, you have to understand. We love each other!” Sable whimpered, blinking rapidly at me as her eyes lined with tears. They were fake. Fake tears… but they looked so real. How had I been so blind? No wonder she had been so cocky about becoming a Luna. I had thought she was delusional to think she would be the one Alpha Cain fell for… the one who survived him. But she never intended to be his mate. She had intended to steal mine. “He’s my mate!” I shouted at her, stepping forward. “How could you do this to me?!” I felt my wolf surface, my eyes burning hot with the need to spill her blood as my little sister looked down quickly in submission, shaking with fear, but I had seen the truth. For a brief moment, she smirked with victory before hiding it quickly. My eyes burned as they turned, and my nails and canines elongated as I instinctively began to shift, but I was struck down by a fierce blow to the side of my face. Gasps erupted from the pack as I dropped to my knees. The familiar tingles of Ryan’s touch made me freeze, and I grabbed my cheek with my free hand. Never before had he hit me in front of the pack. All punishments had always been private until now. “You dare to attack my pup?” Ryan growled down at me. “No!” I shouted in denial, even though I had been. Sister or not, I wanted to gut her. It was a primal need to eliminate the threat to my relationship with my mate that I couldn’t resist. Giving into that anger was the only thing preventing me from crumbling beneath the agony and betrayal threatening to rip me apart from the inside out. “You have humiliated me for the last time.” Ryan hissed, and I gasped as he grabbed my hand tightly in his. “Alpha Cain, in honor of our friendship, it gives me great pleasure to solidify our alliance with the Blackstone pack. In doing so, I would like to present you with a white wolf, Faith Collins. May you be able to teach her the obedience that I could not.” "You can't do this." I choked out, eyeing my mark on his neck. "I am the Alpha. I can and will do what is best for my people! You have no right to question me!” "You're my mate." I insisted weakly, and his eyes flickered down to my mark. Hope filled me as he briefly hesitated, but when he looked up once more to meet my stare, there was no guilt or shame in what he had or was doing. No love or regret. There was nothing. He was trading me like he were just my owner, and I, an object…like I was expendable and not the woman he had claimed to love for the past few years. "You are no longer of use to me. I, Alpha Ryan Jones of the Midnight Pack, reject you, Faith Collins, as my mate." I doubled over, unable to hold myself up as fire burned through my veins, starting from my toes and moving up my body to Ryan's mark on my neck, where it intensified until I felt like I was about to burst into flames. My wolf howled in pain as a stabbing pain tore through my chest, and my hands flew to it. Alpha Cain chuckled, amused by the scene before him as I sobbed and gasped, clawing at my neck and chest as if I could dig the fire out of my body to extinguish it. Alpha Cain bent over me, trapping me between him and Ryan. The smoky scent of cigar surrounded me and made me want to gag. “Hm. She’s strong. It’s rare to see one remain conscious after a rejection.” The older wolf reached forward and pulled a curled strand of my hair forward with his meaty finger, wrapping it around and around as I tried to fight back my bile. "I am going to enjoy breaking you."FAITH“Get off me,” I snapped, pulling my chin away. “I don’t belong to you.” “Not yet,” Alpha Cain chuckled cruelly, and I tried to stand on my shaking legs but fell back to one knee. “Get used to this position, White Wolf. You will kneel before me as your king and as your mate soon.” I could see the wheels turning in his head as he looked me up and down, and I shook my head before forcing myself the rest of the way up to my feet. Sable was still in Ryan’s arms, and I turned to meet his gaze, to face the man who had just shattered me. Only, the second my eyes met his, my stomach rolled, and bile threatened to rise. He was no longer my mate. I had no right to meet his stare. He was an Alpha…My Alpha. I should have submitted to him, but the stubborn part of me didn’t want to and surprisingly, the urge vanished almost as soon as it had come.Ryan’s hand raised again, and I flinched away from him, looking down and submitting as another sob got caught in my throat. Hadn’t he hurt me
FAITH“Treason! I should kill you right now!” Ryan ordered the guards as I shook my head back and forth, wanting to lift my hands in surrender, but was unable to pull free from the guard behind me.“Ryan! Please! Please don’t leave me!” Sable cried as guards surrounded me, her bloody hands grabbing at his shirt.Ryan glanced between us before returning to me and grabbing her hands. “I’m not going anywhere, Sable, baby. Guards! Arrest her!”“I didn’t touch her! She did it!” I insisted but was silenced by a fist connecting with my face, sending me to my stomach on the concrete. “You expect me to believe that she would try to hurt our baby?” Ryan hissed with anger and disbelief. “How stupid do you think I am?”I was faintly aware of the sound of chains dragging across the patio over the panicked shouting for the pack doctor and Sable’s sobbing. I knew the chains were for me, but I couldn’t move to fight them off. My head was spinning so fast I thought I would be sick. I had never been
FAITHI had run out of tears after a few hours and had sat blankly, staring at the cold, brick wall, too terrified to move in case the chains did the same. I had lost all feeling in my hands a while ago, but before I did, I had managed to rip strips off my dress and shoved it between the metal and my flesh. It was my one reprieve from the pain, but they had already soaked through with my blood, and the fabric itself was starting to irritate my injuries. My wolf hadn’t stirred, no matter how I tried to coax her back, and the longer I sat with the empty feeling where she once was, the more nervous I became. It was bad enough that my body felt weak and limp, the rejection having sucked all strength and life from me, but I couldn’t feel her at all.I jumped when the door to the dungeon burst open, hissing as the chains moved and a strip of the blood-soaked fabric landed on the floor with a splat. “Well, well, well. Wolves began pouring in through the front door, some dropping in through the windows, causing further chaos as people jumped from the pews, stumbling toward the intruders as if prepared to fight. I cried out in pain as I was dragged backward by a guard, my eyes briefly meeting the black ones of Alpha Reed, and I knew from the slight lift in his eyebrows that I was a sight. Half of my face was severely bruised, and his stare traveled down my body to the bloody chains on my wrists. “You’re making a powerful enemy, Reed.” Alpha Cain growled, but Alpha Reed’s head fell back with a deep laugh, breaking the connection between us just before a door was slammed in my face, muffling the chaos, growling, and yelling from the other side. “Be a good little bitch and stay here.” The guard hissed as a howl rang out, and I let out a deep breath of annoyance through my nose as he locked my chains to a hook in the wall before racing out of the room, not wanting to miss the action. FAITHA spatter of white dust rained down before me as I stared in horror at how easily he had just ripped my silver chains free. It wasn’t just his strength that terrified me. It was that the silver didn’t seem to affect him at all. He grabbed it like it was nothing when, even without my wolf, it burned right through my flesh. “Time to go.” Alpha Reed said, but my eyes flicked back to the door leading to the chapel. “That wasn’t a request.”Swallowing hard, I nodded. He was right. I didn’t have a choice. The snarls and growls continued, getting louder. It was only a matter of time before the guards burst through the door, or worse, Alpha Jones or Cain. The smoke clouding my vision refused to clear as I blinked repeatedly and felt myself begin to sway. The gas they had used was too potent to handle in my state, and I stumbled back into a round table behind me. Alpha Reed reached out and grabbed me, cursing under his breath as he pulled a small glass vial from his suit jacket and
FAITH My stomach twisted painfully at the site of the whip coming down on the prisoner again. He had similar chains around his ankles and wrists as I did, holding him to the post. His lips were curled up, and his head was slightly tilted to the side as he watched the horrific scene before us. He was enjoying it. I wanted to ask what the man had done, but I imagined it must have been something terrible from how people all around seemed to watch unbothered. The intimidating woman to my left seemed to be the only one who wasn’t interested in taking a peek, and she pushed the center of my back, sending me stumbling forward as a woman exited a building to our right. “Alpha,” the woman said with a sly smile, dipping into a curtsy as if he were a king instead of an Alpha. I had my pick of stunning women, throwing themselves at my feet to claim the place at my side as a Luna. FAITH I jumped as the bedroom door was thrown open and instinctively tried to cover myself, the hot water splashing from the sudden jolt. Yet, I couldn’t, as the pack doctor told me not to get my wrists wet since they were my deepest injuries. The bubbles were doing a good enough job of keeping most of me concealed, so I relaxed again, trying to act nonchalant even though I was in excruciating pain. I just wanted to melt down into the water and sleep until I could heal and forget everything Ryan and Sable had put me through. Just thinking about them made my stomach turn, and I couldn’t shake the image of my mate coming onto my little sister, or worse, her coming onto him. She had just turned eighteen, so it either hadn’t been happening for long, or not only had they been violating the mate bond but breaking the law. Alpha Reed stormed in, his black hair mused and his jaw clenched, the small muscle above it twitching as he marched forward through the open bathroom door and
FAITH ***The cool air of morning brushed across my cheeks, and I closed my eyes as I took a deep breath, enjoying the refreshing breeze. It was a beautiful morning, and for the first time in years, I felt like I could breathe easier. Kaiden's warm breath fanned over my neck, and I tensed as it sent another jolt of pleasure down to my core. The spot where my mark had once been, where my new mark would one day be, was only an inch from his lips. With every exhale over the sensitive skin, I felt myself growing more turned on, and I pressed my thighs together. His erection was planted firmly against my ass, and I was fighting everything in me not to rub back against it. “Where are we?” I asked, glancing around to distract myself from the burning need rushing through me. I knew feeling this way was just the blood bond from him healing me, but I didn’t want to give in. I needed time before I let another man in. What if he was just using me like Ryan had, and Cain wanted to? No. It was
FAITH Kaiden walked past me, heading upstairs with Juliana at his side, acting as if they hadn’t just stolen my blood or been in the middle of a conversation with me. The two of them spoke in low tones, too quiet for me to make out what was being said. I wasn’t sure if I should follow them, but since they hadn’t said anything or looked back, I decided to explore while I still could. Will was still following me, and I figured I would be stuck with a shadow until Juliana worked her magic on my blood. It wasn’t too bad until he stopped me from leaving the pack house. Apparently, the door was the end of my leash. By the time the sun had set, I was too tired from the day to worry about food. It was hard to believe that it had been less than forty-eight hours ago that my world was turned upside down. I turned to Will. “Do you know where I am supposed to be sleeping tonight?” I asked, assuming there would be a guest room or maybe even a prison cell I would be trapped in until mor

I had already inspected my wrists and ankles, but while doing so, the marks were fading fast. It was incredible what Alpha blood could do. Ryan had never shown me such generosity, and we had been mated. If I had been hurt, he called the pack doctor in to bandage me up and then sent him on his way. It was why I thought things were changing when he finally started bringing me a nightly tea to help me heal. I thought he was starting to care. Could I have really loved him when he had treated me so horribly, or had I been in love with the idea of a happy marriage, trying so hard to be the obedient wife and perfect Luna? Alpha Kaiden Reed was terrifying, intimidating, powerful, and way out of my league. I had been disrespectful and challenging. Yet, he had shown me more kindness in the past twenty-four hours than Ryan had during our whole ma
