I woke up in Logan's arms the next morning but I didn’t feel as content as I was earlier. Sure, Logan still made me happy and I can say I still have feelings for him but seeing that handsome dude walk in yesterday, just muddled me. Logan had introduced him as Brock, this Brock was so damn handsome, I found myself staring at his stormy green eyes. I had offered my hand but the handsome guy ignored it while Logan was kind and loving, Brock was withdrawn and cynical, he hadn’t even glanced my way last night.
I shifted from the sofa and Logan's eyes opened, he agilely jumped to his feet and put on a shirt, I stared in awe at his perfect body. “I’ll be out today, scouting, I’ll leave Brock behind to give you a tour of the city, you can trust him” Logan said and kissed me goodbye and left, sighing, I wore a golden dress Logan had given me and stepped out. I met Brock standing outside, he looked irresistible, his dark hair was slicked to one side, his build was even more pronounced than that of Logan. “Logan asked me to meet you” I said, he nodded and didn’t say anything, his face was expressionless and he started walking away, I had to jog to catch him with him. “Are you the beta of this pack?” I asked, trying to start a conversation, but as usual the dude ghosted me, I bristled inwardly. This dude was so cold and looked to be in his own world, but I couldn’t help but be drawn towards him, he showed me around, I was too distracted to focus on what he was saying, instead I listened to the sounds of his deep baritone and when he wasn’t looking, glance at his handsome face, I loved Logan in a way but Brock case was different I find myself wanting to know him more, but the guy was not even giving me room to even start a conversation. “So, ever loved a lady?” I blurted out and Brock turned to me, his green eyes were so cold I stumbled back, he sneered at me. “It’s none of your business” he snarled and walked off. Seriously! What was this guy's problem anyway? I jogged after him, and he turned back to stare at me. “Tour’s over, go home” he growled and I stood where I was staring at his eyes, they were ringed in yellow. “Fine, but Logan said you should escort me home” I said, petulant and Brock looked furious at being trapped, fur erupted on his arms and I stepped back. “Fine!” His voice was deeper as if two people were talking at once, he shook his head, “Move along” he said and we trudged back up the hills leading to Logan’s house, the splendor of the house still amazed me. Brock said nothing at all and if he hadn’t spoken some words, I would have said he was dumb. We came to Logan’s front door and he turned to go. “Brock” I called and he froze and turned, his green eyes darkened and he scowled. “What is it?” he said impatiently, and I stepped closer, he was so tall, even taller than Logan. “It is nice meeting you, Brock” I whispered and surprise lit his features before his stoic mask fell back, he looked away. “Thanks” he muttered like the word was bile, then he spun and leaped, as he leaped, he transformed into a huge black wolf midair then landed gracefully on his paws and bounded into the woods, i stared at his torn clothes and picked a fabric, I inhaled, Brock smelled manly, I wanted to keep smelling his scent as long as I could. “There you are” a voice said and I turned to see Logan, hands in pocket smiling, I hid my hands behind my back. “Hey” I said and kissed him, while shoving the fabric into my back pocket, he smiled into the kiss and pulled away. “Did Brock show you around?” Logan asked. “He did” I confirmed and Logan smiled at me, I couldn’t help but smile back. “Don’t mind his cynical self, he had some issues when he was younger” Logan said, “I am the only friend he has for now.” “Oh” I said, no wonder the dude was so cynical, but he was also arrogant as hell, his roguish good looks seem to always draw me to him, when I am with it’s like Logan is completely wiped out from my memory “I don’t know if you are my soulmate Amy, but we’ll find out on the mating ceremony, but I want you to know that from the first day I saw you I have fallen in love with you” Logan said and my heart soared, for an alpha, Logan was so sweet. I stared at his handsome face. “I love you too, Logan” the words sounded weird in my mouth and I didn’t feel okay saying them. “Good” he said, he opened his mouth to say something when a lone howl rose into the night and other howls rang out, Logan stiffened and his eyes turned yellow, he roared in challenge and around us, Grimclaw werewolves came out of their homes with weapons of all kinds. “What’s happening?” I asked and Logan turned to me, his eyes still yellow. “Invaders” his voice was impossibly deep, it scared me. “Go inside Amelia” he said and I ran inside, I peered through the window to observe what was going on. I watched as a loud explosion startled Logan and he howled, an eerie, chilling sound and Grimclaw werewolves howled in response, Logan grabbed a large silver sword and roared, he looked terrifying, his yellow eyes had turned red and with a shout he ran towards the forest and thousands of Grimclaw werewolves followed suit, charging behind him. I watched from my vintage position to see the invaders charge at Logan and his pack and then with a large crash, they slammed into each other, I watched as Logan and Brock worked together it was so beautiful, Logan with his incredible strength disbanded warriors left and right, while Brock calmly cut down warriors, he seemed to have an aura around him, anytime an enemy came near, lightning bolts would drop incinerating the person. I stood in awe and shock as the battle raged on below, what have I gotten myself into. That was my last thought, before something slammed into the back of my head and I sunk into oblivion. When I came to, I was in an unfamiliar building, the lights were too bright and I was tied to a chair, the room I was in was painted black and red, a flag was raised with the insignia of a wolf attacking another wolf. “About time you woke” came a sinister voice and I raised my head to stare at a thin lean man, he looked calm but I could see the madness in his eyes. “Aren’t you the chosen mate, well well, nice to meet you” he said. “I don’t know what you are talking about” I said and he grinned, his eyes turned yellow and he backhanded me, I cried out in pain, the blow stung. His eyes returned back to normal and he smiled as if nothing happened. “Oops, my wolf doesn't like lies” he said and leaned closer, he sniffed. “You aren’t human yourself Amelia, are you” he said and I stared at him, first Logan now this creep, I was completely human, right? Or was mom and dad……….no that can’t be true and how did he know my name?. “I don’t know” I blu
We had been here for a month now, Brock and I, surviving and struggling, Brock usually hunted antelopes, sometimes in wolf form, other times as a human. I stood now watching as he fired an arrow at a deer, the arrow hit precisely and the deer dropped on the ground, twitching a few times before it became still, Brock, face devoid of any emotion, stalked to the deer and pulled out the arrow. Brock had spent lots of time making weapons, we needed them as there were a lot of predators here: lions, bear, warthogs, boars, Hippos, you name it, Brock had been training me hard ever since a lion almost got me, the guy was certainly crazy, he trained me like I was his equal, and had no mercy. I watched as he hoisted the deer on his shoulder and walked past me heading to our make shift camp which was few minutes away. We got to the hut made of log and tree branches and leaves, tightly woven and covered with a blanket in case rain falls, my stomach rumbled loudly and Brock stared at me.
Strong hands grabbed my waist and pulled my nude body to his, I moaned into his mouth and he groaned in need, his hands moved lower and cupped my backside then stilled. I stared in confusion as Brock pulled away. “Oh God” Brock wailed and I softly held his face. “What?” I said softly and his green eyes bore down on me, hard. “You shouldn’t have done that” he said, annoyance evident in his voice. “But I……..” “Shhhh” Brock cut me off, “I can’t do this with you” “Why?” I asked and he scowled at me. “You are Logan’s mate for Lycan’s sake, he will even kill me if he finds out I did this” he yelled and stormed off. I sighed, something was definitely wrong with me, I shouldn’t have done that. I grabbed my clothes now shredded to pieces from my shift and put on the ones I can. I jogged after Brock who had started yo hike back to our makeshift camp. After five minutes, we finally got to the wooden hut that seemed like home to me now. I stole a glance at Logan and sighed, he looked furi
The psycho in front of me grinned as I charged for him, he sidestepped my sword slash, but Brock had taught me what to do. I feigned a thrust at his abdomen, as he lowered his sword to deflect my thrust, I stabbed his shoulder. He yelled out and backhanded me with inhuman strength sending me flying and crashing into the make hut wall. He drew out my sword and threw it aside. “I’ll kill you bitch” he roared and came at me, sword raised, I dodged the first strike then he sliced me across the shoulder and I yelled out in pain. Where the hell was Brock? I needed his strength right now, the rogue in front of me raised me up by the neck choking me. I hit his arms hard and kicked but the bastard seemed intent on killing me, I could feel myself losing air and I started to see stars, when I thought I was done, the hand abruptly left my throat, followed by and high pitched scream, I collapsed to the ground weakly and raised my head to see Brock grab the rogue werewolf and ye
I bit into an apple and watched as Brock sharpened his sword, this has been our routine now; eat, sleep hunt sharpened and customize our weapons. Days ago, Brock had found a shotgun devoid of bullets and had spent a day making hundreds of bullets, when he was done he had handed the gun to me. The gun was holstered on my hip now and I scowled at his back, I hated guns, but the arrogant prick in front of me had harshly reminded me that I was a chicken when it came to swords, but I had stubbornly kept a sword on me much to his annoyance. Brock set his sword down and turned to me, his green eyes bore into mine. “Training. Now!” he barked and I groaned, he insisted we didn’t eat anything this morning and now he was asking me to train? “We haven’t………” “Shut it” he snapped and I closed my mouth but gave him the stink eye, his green eyes darkened at that and I knew I was done for. “Guns” he barked and I instinctively whipped out my gun. Brock had taught me how to quickly arm myself, he cu
One month later I watched Brock, studied the cave. We had just stumbled upon the cave when we went for a hunt, and my bodyguard beta had insisted Daedalus map was here. “Are you sure about this?” I asked for the sixth time, Brock smiled at me and my lips betrayed me by smiling back, Brock had become friendly after the day I confessed that I loved him, though he still kept making snide remarks but in a more friendly way and he had avoided kissing me but he liked holding me close to him whenever it was time to sleep, I still wished he would at least kiss me. “Bingo!” Brock yelled and I followed him deeper into the cave. “What’s that?” I asked and he held up his hand, in his palm was a huge golden key. “Where do we put that?” I asked and he shrugged. “That’s what I do know, there is no loose brick here, no loose stones everything is just smooth” he said and I punched the wall, nothing. He grinned when I punched the wall.
I moaned as Brock deepened the kiss, he moved down and kissed my neck and bit my earlobe, I cried out and he moved lower almost touching my breasts. “Can I?” He asked and I nodded, not trusting my self to speak, he shook his head. “Say it” he ordered and I almost screamed that he shouldn’t stop but I controlled myself. “Yes, do what you want. Please don’t just stop” I said, it sounded like I was begging but I didn’t care I needed him in this moment. Brock said nothing and cupped my breasts in his hands and I moaned and bucked into him pressing him into the ground as he rubbed a sensitive part of my breasts. The feeling was too ecstatic, that I was sure I was going to run mad in pleasure, then suddenly, Brock until he was until and moved lower. “What are you doing?” I asked in surprise then I felt his tongue on my core, the one place I never bared to anyone before except for this handsome man with me. I grabbed his hair and pushed him deepe
I stared glumly as Brock studied the cave walls, the were no cracks or anything on the smooth cave walls, it looked like someone had find out the way and didn’t want to make it easy so the person cemented the walls. “Maybe it’s not this cave” I said for the fifth time and as usual Brock kept silent, ignoring me. “Since we are not going to have sex anymore, you can talk to me” I said and he turned sharply in surprise when I said that then he schooled his features into a scowl. “I don’t have to talk to you” he said and I shrugged. “We are not fighting, are we?” I asked and he looked away. “No, but we should avoid each other” he said. “Why?” I asked. “You are Logan’s mate for heaven’s sake, he choose you, I can’t be with you. Yes, I want you, so bad I want to rip your clothes and take you right here” he growled, “But I won’t” He turned away again and resumed his inspection on the cave walls while at glared
I woke up with a start, my head throbbing and my vision blurry. The pain in my skull was sharp, but the overwhelming sense of dread was sharper. I struggled to sit up, my hands and feet bound tightly, and tried to make sense of my surroundings. Dim light filtered through cracked windows, casting shadows on the walls of what looked like an old, abandoned warehouse.Just then, I heard a familiar voice in my head. Brock.“Amelia, where are you?”Relief and panic mingled in my chest. I focused on our bond, trying to project my thoughts clearly. “I don’t know the exact location. It’s a warehouse. It’s old and looks abandoned.”There was a brief pause before Brock’s voice came through again, calm but laced with urgency. “There are hundreds of warehouses around here, Amelia. But I can track your scent. Hold on. Logan and I are coming to get you.”The telepathic link went quiet, and I was left with my racing thoughts and the oppressive silence of the warehouse. The faint sounds of the city ou
As the minutes ticked by, the pain in my head began to subside, replaced by a growing sense of stubbornness . I wasn’t going to let Vincent intimidate me. Reagan’s life depended on me staying strong and thinking clearly. I could hear the faint hum of the city outside, a reminder that we weren’t completely isolated, even though it felt that way.Vincent reappeared, striding into the room with an air of confidence that made my skin crawl. He looked down at me with a cold smile. “Ready to talk, Amelia?”I met his gaze with as much defiance as I could muster. “I told you, I’m not giving you any information.”He chuckled, shaking his head. “You’re brave, I’ll give you that. But let’s not play games. Who did you come with?”I swallowed hard, hoping he couldn’t see through my lie. “I came alone, just like you told me to.”Vincent’s smile widened, but there was no warmth in it. “Is that so? Alone, all the way from your little village?”I nodded, trying to keep my expression neutral. “Yes.”He
We decided to leave for New York that night. The urgency of Reagan’s situation weighed heavily on me, and the fear of what could happen if we didn’t act fast was like a constant, gnawing presence in the back of my mind. Logan, Brock, and I piled into a black SUV, the kind that would blend in anywhere without drawing too much attention.Logan glanced at me from the driver’s seat. “You sure you’re up for this, Amelia? Going in alone is dangerous.”I nodded, trying to muster as much confidence as I could. “I don’t have a choice. If they see you two, they might kill Reagan on the spot.”Brock, sitting next to me, reached over and squeezed my hand. “We’ll be close by, ready to jump in if anything goes wrong. Just get Reagan out safely. That’s the priority.”“I know,” I said, giving him a small, grateful smile. “Thanks, both of you.”The drive to New York was tense and quiet. We went over the plan a few more times, making sure we were ready for anything. Logan and Brock would stay nearby, h
The sky was darkening, and the air was thick with tension. We could sense them before we saw them, the rogues moving in like a dark wave, ready to crash against our defenses. Brock stood beside me, his grip on my hand a reassuring constant. “They’re coming,” Logan’s voice was low but steady as he addressed the pack. “Everyone, to your positions.” We scattered, each of us moving to where we’d been assigned. Brock and I took up a position near the main gate, where we knew the fighting would be fiercest. My heart pounded in my chest, but I felt a strange calm wash over me. This was it. We were ready. The first rogue hit the gate with a deafening crash. The force of it reverberated through the ground, but our defenses held—at least for the moment. More followed, their growls and snarls filling the air. “Hold the line!” Brock shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos. We fought with everything we had. The night was a blur of fur, claws, and blood. Despite our preparations, the rogu
The news hit us like a ton of bricks. Vincent's attack was imminent. The war room was a hive of activity. Maps were spread out, strategies were being debated, and faces were etched with worry."We have to be ready for anything," Logan said, his voice low and determined. "They could come from anywhere."Brock nodded, his eyes scanning the map. "We need to strengthen our defenses everywhere, not just the south."I felt a lump in my throat. This was it. The moment we'd been dreading. "We can't let them win," I said, my voice barely a whisper.Logan looked at me, his eyes filled with concern. "We won't, Amelia. We won't."Days turned into nights as we prepared for the inevitable. We trained, we planned, and we waited. The tension was palpable. Even the usually cheerful faces in the village looked grim.Brock insisted on ramping up my training. He argued that I needed to be able to defend myself, not just rely on others. I groaned and complained, but deep down, I knew he was right. Our t
My head was pounding. Everything felt like a nightmare. Vincent, that crazy guy, wanted me. Bad. Brock and Logan were trying to figure out what to do, their faces all serious. It was like we were in a movie, except without the popcorn. Logan was the first to speak. "We need a plan," he said, his voice low and serious. "Vincent won't stop until he gets what he wants." Brock, my knight in shining armor, jumped in. "Amelia needs to be safe. I'm her bodyguard, 24/7." My heart melted a little. He looked at me with those intense eyes of his, and I felt safe for a second.Logan nodded. “Agreed. We double the patrols. No one gets in or out without being checked. I’ll station more werewolf soldiers at the borders. We need eyes everywhere.”Brock’s gaze never left mine. “I’ll be her personal guard. Wherever she goes, I go.”I couldn’t help the swell of affection I felt for him. “Thank you, Brock. I feel safer already.”Logan’s expression softened slightly. “It’s settled then. Brock, you’ll be
The morning after was like waking up in a bad dream. My body ached like a kicked puppy, and my head felt like it was stuffed with cotton. I tried to ignore the growing bruise on my shoulder, but it kept reminding me of the rogue rumble.Brock was nowhere to be found, probably nursing his own battle wounds. But I wasn't exactly feeling up for a pity party. Instead, I focused on the rogues we'd captured. We'd tied them up good, but they were still a bunch of grumpy, smelly wolves."Hey, furballs," I greeted them, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "How's the view from the ground?"They just glared at me, their eyes full of rage. Great, a captive audience with a serious attitude problem.Logan strolled in, looking like he'd just stepped out of a photoshoot. "Morning, champ," he said, a grin spreading across his face. "You look like you could use a nap."I rolled my eyes. "Thanks for the pep talk, Cap. Any idea what to do with these grumpy guests?"He shrugged. "No clue. Maybe we should ask
Creeping through the bushes felt like I was starring in a bad spy movie. Guilt gnawed at me worse than a hangry wolf. Here I was, playing secret agent on my own packmate, all because I chickened out on telling Logan about his little romance with Sage.Peeking through the leaves, I watched Sage lead Brock deeper into the woods. Talk about awkward. This wasn't exactly how I pictured breaking the news.Suddenly, Sage leaned in and planted a kiss on Brock. My jaw practically hit the forest floor. Before I could even process that, my traitorous fingers fumbled for my phone, snapping a pic faster than a squirrel on Red Bull. Hey, evidence is key, right?A tangled mess of emotions wrestled inside me – anger, hurt, and a weird flicker of… relief? Like, major relief that Brock wasn't a lying cheater. But the image of him smooching Sage, the raw emotion on her face, left a sour taste in my mouth. They pulled away, foreheads touching, whispering like teenagers on a first date. I strained to hear
Tossing and turning like a rotisserie chicken, sleep wouldn't touch me with a ten-foot pole. Every time I squeezed my eyelids shut, Sage's smug smirk and the whole rogue alpha thing popped back up like unwanted houseguests. Ugh.Finally, after what felt like a year of staring at the ceiling, I threw the covers off.Operation: Catch Sage Red-Handed was a go. Grabbing my baggiest clothes and a baseball cap that looked like it belonged to my grandpa, I snuck outta my room like a ninja on a sugar rush.Sage's cabin, on the outskirts of our territory, was my first stop. The journey there was like a horror movie – every rustle of leaves and owl hoot had me jumping like a scaredy-cat. When I finally reached the place, it was dark and silent, not a single light on. Double ugh.Maybe she wasn't even there? Peeking through the window, I saw furniture gathering dust and a bed that looked like it hadn't been slept in for weeks. Super disappointing. Was this whole mission a bust? Then, a faint eart
