Finding Valencia

The music played by the orchestra pervaded the expensive and beautiful white hall. Different flowers were neatly arranged in all corners of the hall, but that doesn't give it a mediocre look; rather, the flowers stand out and make one's eyes linger on them, their scent softly teasing one's nose. The red carpet in the middle of the hall created nice highlights.

The most prominent people sat down on the expensive hall chairs. Even though their faces looked calm, there was a trace of impatience and confusion written in their eyes.

Maverick glanced at the time with a frown on his face. It had been over 25 minutes since Valencia should've arrived in the hall, but no one had caught a trace of her yet.

The delay made murmurs fill the hall.

'What do you think is happening? Why isn't the bride in yet?'

'I don't know. What do you think?

'It seems the rumors about President Maverick's family not accepting the bride are true. Look, none of the Vandenberg family are present.'

'Maybe something happened.'

'What could happen and lead to Vandenberg's family not appearing on their son's wedding day?'

'Shh, speak quietly. I heard that they don't want such a random and shameless woman like Valencia. She's unbefitting of their family and can only be a money grubber. Perhaps if it were her sister, the hardworking and upcoming actress Lessie, it could've been better.'

'Really?'

'Valencia is famous for being shameless in terms of Maverick, and there's a lot of bad news about her online. Which family will accept that?'

'That's right. You're right! She's really no good. If it weren't for Young Master Maverick, who simply took a liking to her face, such a person might be no more than a slut who makes use of her pretty face to make money.'

Lessie leaned toward her mother, Amabella, biting her lower lips with anxiety. Her eyes darted toward the entrance repeatedly.

"Mom, Dad, what's little sister Valencia doing in the dressing room? Rumors are now flying, and I'm afraid that they'll give our family a bad reputation. Hasn't she always wanted to marry Mr. Maverick? Why isn't she here yet? Doesn't she know that it's humiliating for our family and Mr. Maverick? It's fine that little sister hoarded all the things Mr. Maverick released to the family, but making Mr. Maverick annoyed on their wedding day isn't good. What if Mr. Maverick descends his wrath on our family and destroys Daddy's business in a fit of anger?" Lessie said in an innocent whisper, her face wrinkled in concern, but deep down in her gaze, there was intense hatred swirling in her eyes.

Although it may seem as if Lessie is filled with concern for Valencia, it is a facade, and all her words are filled with accusations toward Valencia. The explicit meaning of her words is that Valencia is humiliating their family, and her actions will give their family a bad name.

Also, Lessie's words pointed out that Valencia is selfish, and Valencia's actions may cause Maverick to descend his anger on them.

Just like Valencia and all the ladies in LEX Country, Lessie had always had a crush on Maverick, the nation's husband, but of all people, Maverick had to choose Valencia, that slut. Just the thought of it made Lessie's blood boil. She wished she could just tear that slut into pieces.

Lessie's words made the surrounding people frown, and they all began to mumble—by their expression, one will know that they're thinking that Valencia isn't a good person.

A smirk surfaced on Lessie's face upon getting the results she wanted. Even on Valencia's wedding day, she won't give that bitch the chance to be happy.

Mr. Carter frowned angrily, his voice booming in the hall. Since that useless and unworthy Valencia had made herself useful by hooking up with Maverick, the number one billionaire in the country, Mr. Carter had been a bit satisfied with her.

Who knew that useless girl would suddenly want to cause a mess at the wedding? Being the billionaire in-law will give rise to many opportunities; how can he afford to lose them?

Especially when he had flaunted himself to everyone, making his days glorious and making him bear the brunt of countless envy.

Just like her mother, Valencia had a skill for seducing men.

"Impetuous! Guards find Valencia and bring her to the hall right now. We can't afford to make Mr. Maverick wait." Without caring for his image or anything, Mr. Carter bellowed angrily, earning him looks from the guest, which he ignored.

Immediately, four bodyguards appeared from their hiding place. They nodded and bowed to Mr. Carter before rushing out of the hall.

It was two minutes after Mr. Carter's bodyguards left the hall that a handsome man in his twenties entered the hall. He was in a black suit. His brows were furrowed, and his lips were pursed in anxiety.

Cliff, Maverick's assistant, hurried toward Maverick.

"President." Cliff bowed to Maverick before handing Maverick a pink envelope that he took out of his breast pocket.

Maverick arched his brows but calmly collected the envelope.

"Boss, Miss Valencia is gone," Cliff whispered close to Maverick's ears.

When Cliff arrived at the dressing room to ask about Valencia, one of the dressing room staff members mentioned that Valencia said she'd like to visit the restroom. But she had yet to return.

And due to that, Cliff had gone to the restroom to look for Valencia.

Alas! There were no traces of Valencia, and after a bit of investigation, Cliff found out that Valencia had long left the wedding hall.

Cliff immediately left for Valencia's apartment to search for her, but when he arrived at Valencia's apartment with the top guards, they couldn't find Valencia and her things! Even her phone was already switched off, which means that Valencia purposely fled on her wedding day.

"However, we found this letter at Miss Valencia's apartment," Cliff explained, pointing toward the letter he handed to Maverick.

Maverick's eyes narrowed upon hearing Cliff's explanation, yet he said nothing. Instead, he opened the letter, his actions fearfully calm.

Dear… No. Asshole billionaire Maverick Vandenberg,

You're a jerk! The biggest scum of all. I'm Valencia, myself; how dare you make me a substitute for a random woman? Since you dare, why don't you marry your woman today? F*** you. The biggest regret of my life is sacrificing my youth for you, you asshole. Why don't you enjoy being humiliated today? The youngest genius billionaire, Maverick, is let down by his bride. Oh, what a delightful caption. Hehehe.

Maverick's jaw ticked, and a tight-lipped smile shattered his calm facade. His vein pulsed and his fist clenched in anger, ruffling the letter in his hand. "Very good, Valencia. If you want to live well, then don't dare step into the country." Maverick spat out with an icy, tight tone. Killing intent swirled in his black orbs.

Maverick had underestimated that foolish woman. He had thought she was no more than an obedient, pretty vase. It turns out that she's more capable than she looks. Valencia really did well in fooling him.

A dark smile surfaced on Maverick's face. "I don't care if Valencia is 1 million kilometers away or six feet deep; all I need is her presence. Find her and bring her to me. The wedding must continue." Maverick ordered coldly.

Two can play these games well. Since Valencia wanted to show her smartness then Maverick would show her his influence.

Cliff bowed slightly and shook his head. "I'm afraid, boss. Miss Valencia escaped the country using the underworld group that we weren't affiliated with." Cliff explained.

Cliff had ordered guards to trace Valencia's whereabouts with the expectation that Valencia had flown out of the country using a plane.

However, Valencia had used a boat instead, and she had escaped using the people who didn't see well with Maverick, cutting off their path to find her.

Maverick's aura turned cold, and his eyes turned sharp, freezing the nearby people and making them not dare to look at him. "You mean…"
