The way Samantha kept insisting that I follow her to the state where she intended to stay with her friend was very suspicious, to say the least. When I asked her why she was so particular about it, her reason was that I need to know where she is going to be staying in case of any emergency, and I bought that excuse hook, line, and sinker.

Her sister went back to school the day after Samantha was admitted to the hospital, saying that she had a series of tests to write, but it was obvious that she wanted to escape her sister’s razor-sharp mouth. I don’t blame her at all. Actually, I feel quite sorry for the poor kid.

On the day she left, she had asked Samantha for some money in a shaky voice that was full of fear. I wasn’t surprised when the latter snapped at her and asked her if she was blind and could not see that she was hospitalized. In the end, I had given the kid more than enough money, waved away her profuse thanks, and sent her on her way.
