At long last

The first few nights after I get home from the hospital are tough as hell. Ava turns out to be a fussy baby at night, something I didn’t notice at the hospital because she was almost always kept away from me while we were there.

Mrs. James proves to be a godsent though, and takes most of the burden off my shoulders. I thank my stars that she’s there to help me, otherwise, I would sure as hell have broken down. Adjusting to the reality of my motherhood is not easy, but it is very much worth it.

Charles visits us all the time, so much so that it is a wonder that he has the time to work at all. When I ask him about his work, he tells me that he cannot continue his practice in the city he lives, because ever since the recent saga of his arrest, things have not been the same.
