I'm almost convinced that Edmund is really concerned based on his actions since Roy caught up with me. But because I know the truth, I find it so hard to trust both of his words and actions.

Every time he's asking me if I'm okay a big part of me wants to say I'm not because he's seeing my sister but of course I have to remind myself that I should stay where I belong. That line is beyond my capacity and I should never cross that.

I rolled back from the bed again when I felt sleepy. This morning after Edmund left I vomited again in the bathroom but nothing came out but bitter saliva.

I shrugged it off because I might have been sick to my stomach because I hadn't had breakfast yet. Now that I have eaten, I feel nothing but nausea.

Around noon I was restless. I called Edmund's office but no one answered but the female receptionist. Besides Gregor, it was also Edmund's office assistant who took the call.

She told me that Edmund went out earlier than expected for a lunch meeting but whe

The reason was a combination of nervousness and panic, so I couldn't move immediately because the bubbles exploded on the floor. I couldn't even check if I had a wound because I was so scared. I couldn't move immediately, especially when my emotions rose so I couldn't stop sobbing. However the unkind woman just ordered her people to help me get up. He didn't even bother to check if I was okay while the bodyguards he ordered were restless to check if I had any injuries or something. I saw a small cut of glass in my palm because I propped it on the floor to stand. I think I sat through some boogie too and I don't know... "Don't act like that, stand up or you might report that I'm oppressing you," said the lady in a humorless tone. I tried to find concern and sympathy for him but I couldn't find anything. She sat tall like a queen and then looked at me from head to toe. "I can't believe my so choose a bitch like you," she said and turned to the staff. "Leave us alone. This is a sens

Even if I wanted to ask the housekeeper for help, I couldn't because I was afraid she would feel sorry for me. Maybe my parents will scold her, especially Dad. She's too old for that. I was out of breath when a strong wind blew while I was walking. The temperature is gradually decreasing every minute, that's why I hurried to walk even though I didn't know where to go. It was cold around and since I was only wearing a bodycon dress in the middle of the night I couldn't do anything but hug myself. Some people looked at me, I don't know if they're amazed or what while I'm almost freezing. Maybe there is an inn or a hotel nearby, I might just spend the night there because I don't have much money, I don't know if I can stay two nights so tomorrow I might plan what to do. My feet took me to a church. It was only a few kilometers away from our house and I finally felt comfortable while entering there. It's not big but the place is quiet. On the side there were two nuns kneeling so I did

"The baby is fine and safe, Sister. We were on our way home yesterday after we finished serving. Marky, even though he was afraid of blood, came earlier," said Lester, one of the sacristan who brought me to the hospital. Marky laughed and shook his head. Compared to Lester, it is more quiet and shy. "Of course I'm confused," said Marky and adjusted his round eyeglasses. He continued to look like a holy seminarian as Lester teased. He was wearing a white polo shirt and black pants. It was in good order and there was no mess. "Thank you for the help, I don't know how to pay you all. Thank you..." I said flashing a slight smile. Somehow I regained my strength to eat solid food earlier. I can go out this afternoon, just settle the bill. I still have money and Sister Inca and Sister Badeth downstairs are taking care of something so I don't have to pay anything, it's a public hospital. "That's fine, sister. The important thing is that you and your baby are safe," Artem said. This and

I lazily walked around the side of the church. Every now and then I bend down to pick up clutter. I can't do anything. The children are studying this morning and Mother Eralda, the nun superior, told me not to sleep. She said it's bad when I lie down all the time because my body can't stretch. They say that won't help if it's a normal delivery. It's five months before I give birth but they are taking care of me. From my room at the end of the first floor which used to be a dump, I was moved to a bigger room. Papa also installed the air conditioner there even though I didn't want it. It's cold there and the bed is soft so I almost don't want to open my eyes, I just want to sleep all day. A lot has changed, I used to not be able to pray. Now I can't sleep until I pray. It has become part of my day. Sometimes I join the children's choir practice, which is why I also like the worship songs. I even made a notebook where I am writing my everyday life. When the nuns took me to a recollect

I closed my eyes and reminisced about the past, the paradise where I grew up, where I formed dreams before everything turned into a nightmare. In a time when the morning is turbulent but happy, the night is quiet and peaceful. At the time only the stars were the witness of how many dreams I built. I slowly walked towards the front and slowly knelt down when I reached enough distance. I did not take my eyes off the altar while kneeling. I uttered a short prayer and stared at the altar once again. Its design has changed a lot. The former white and blue dominant colors have been replaced by gold and silver. The pillars that used to look old and about to fall down, are now brand new and beautiful. It was carved with images of angels and flowers. A slight smile suddenly appeared on my lips. Change is really bound to happen. Good or bad we must embrace the changes around us. "Lily, it's good that you came to visit, the children miss you so much..." I looked at Sister Inca who suddenly

It took us a while to get to where we were supposed to go because other employees had also arrived. We talked a little more because they were very happy with my son's presence. Carrying a large duffel bag containing Ken's necessities such as milk, a change of clothes and some toys we went to the office. Hailey came because we thought she would be late. "Mimi, work. Me, play. Go Mimi go!" I couldn't help but kiss Kendi's cheek while we both sat on the couch inside the office. She pointed to my desk where the reports from our three other branches were stacked. Once a month I visit them, I just focus more on the Manila branch because it is closer to us, I don't have to leave Ken. "My daughter is so kind! Because of that... What do you want for lunch?" Her face brightened even more and if she wasn't on my lap she would have been jumping for joy. I used to think it was a lie that they say that a mother is happy when her child is happy, but when I gave birth to Kendi, I proved that to

I was stunned for a moment before I completely recovered. I blinked and looked away. My heart beats constantly. Kendi, baby where are you? My feelings were mixed while continuing to search, I caught a glimpse of the buffet table, specifically a bulk standing near there. Almost four years... A lot has changed and her body is definitely one of them, if it was sexy then, now even more with a button-down long sleeve, it's a dish. "Sister, Kendrick has found Kendi, she is in the kitchen with Sir Rod," Erna immediately promised when she appeared next to me. One more glance and then I turned to go to the kitchen. I'm sure the father and daughter didn't meet because if it happened, Edmund would definitely confront me. But he did nothing but give me a blank but firm stare. I was almost half asleep when I got to Kendria who was with Tito Rod to get ice cream from the fridge. "Ken, baby... We're going home, okay?" I said softly as I reached her. We even had to accompany Kendrick home b

Kendi enjoyed eating the Black Forest. I'm just so thankful that she didn’t take it to heart because otherwise I don't know what I would do. "Oh how is Ken?" Kendrick asked on the other line. If he hadn't called, I wouldn't have known that he suddenly went to Texas. This guy and his mood swings. Sometimes he's normal, often abnormal. I glanced at Ken on the bed before walking out of her room. I tucked her to bed and read a story book so she fell asleep easily. "She's fine. How about you? Are you still fine brother?" That was supposed to be a light question but I heard him sigh heavily. "I don't know..." he sounds so tired. I don't know what he is going through. Even if he doesn't say everything, occasionally he slips up or voluntarily tells some details. "Brother, if you love you fight." "But you also said that sometimes it's not enough just to love." We were both silent. I remember saying that when he once asked me if I really loved my son, why did I deprive him of the whol

Edmund’s POV Love is an endless battle between choices and their consequences. Just one wrong move and you will lose everything. One misunderstanding and it's over. I stared at my phone's screen. I used to be too lazy to touch it, now I'm just grinning like an idiot because of its beautiful wallpaper. My wife and daughter. Right. This is what you call heaven. "So what do you think of our proposal Mr. Moriarty?” I was startled when the person in front of me suddenly spoke. I sat up straight because she was staring at me, noticing that I wasn’t listening. I sipped my wine. A bit unethical but I had no choice but to join her here at a French restaurant inside the hotel. I canceled our meeting last time because I was working from home and if I were to work, I would be too busy to insert the conversation with Mocha into the schedule. Her family's hotel is one of the biggest and we can't deny the fact that they make millions annually but they are not doing well these days. I only s

When I got up the next day, I was shocked. For a brief moment I wished that everything last night was just a dream, a nightmare perhaps. But I know it wasn’t. It was all real. The door opened suddenly and I was still blinking when I entered there as the people inside my mind followed one another. Kendria's hair is done, it looks like Edmund has taken a bath as well, wearing a white v-neck shirt. It was close to the chest and stomach so that every movement made his muscles scream. I immediately looked away when our eyes met. "Mimi! Breakfast in bed!" Kendi kindly stated. The little girl climbed onto the bed and was still jumping on it. "Don’t jump sweetie, the food will spill." I was still shocked when I heard Edmund’s voice. It was a sweet yet authoritative thing that made Kendria obey. She stopped jumping and sat on the bed facing me with a smile. "What is that?" I pointed to the bed tray that Edmund was carrying. And he wasn't alone, behind him was Edna with more food. "G

In my head I imagined this a couple of times, we are in a fancy restaurant wearing formal clothes then I'll introduce Edmund to our daughter. Not like this, it's the middle of the night, it's storming outside and Edmund's mood is worse than the weather. Deep inside me I know that even though I'm not ready, it had occurred to me before to introduce the father and daughter to each other that's why I was led by fear. I don't want another rejection. I am afraid not only of the possible pain I will feel but also of the effect it will have on Kendria. Maybe I was selfish. Maybe I was a coward. Maybe I overreacted. But God knows I only want the best for Kendi. Because what if Edmund doesn't want to? What if he doesn't accept it? What if he doubts? Up until now he lives like a bachelor, jumping from one woman to another, is he ready to be a father? "Dada... sleepy..." Ken said in a small voice and yawned. A small smile crept on Edmund’s face. Still carrying Kendria, he stood up not even

I looked at him then took another step towards the door but before I could open it, Edmund was already there. "I can open it, I'm not disabled," I promised flatly. I heard him chuckle but he didn't say a thing. I went inside and folded the umbrella before facing him. "Go home Edmund, I'm not joking even if it's stormy I'll drag you to security- what are you smiling about? You find this funny?" He smiled and shook his head. "Even if your nose is smoking from irritation, you're still beautiful." My heart skipped a beat then it went back, thrice than it's normal bear. "Thank you for the concern but don't be too concerned with me, I am strong but you are fragile." "Stop me with your brats! I said without being concerned- wait you're shivering! I told you to go home!" "But I'm cold and I might get cold because I've been soaked in the rain for a while," he said. Because the light inside the house was on, I could clearly see him screaming suddenly at the sudden blowing of a strong

I rolled my eyes for the nth time. I've been in and out of the office a few times because I can't get home. Edmund is watching me like a crazy stalker.I'm already irritated because I can't go home, he will surely follow. Kendria is always waiting in the doorway, surely one look will tell her.And I won't let that happen. Over my drop dead gorgeous, sexy, awesome, brilliant, and all the good praises bodyI was thrown back in my swivel chair when I heard three consecutive knocks from the closed door."It's open! Push the door," I answered loudly.Next, Dallia's strange face appeared there. I can see that he has changed his clothes because he is no longer wearing the baby pink staff uniform."Miss? We've closed the cafe, are you going to stay?" he asked.Oh shit! Did I sleep?"N-No Dallia, are you still cleaning the kitchen?" I asked confused."Rara is also finishing."I nodded while gathering my things.I put back on the blazer I was wearing when I came in, covering the sweetheart neck

Is it possible for a person to forget in just a short period of time? I think it depends on the situation because right now the only thing I want is to get away from him."Thank you," I said in a flat tone before snatching the napkin pack out of his hand.I walked away pushing the grocery cart like nothing happened."What? That's it?" he asked while still following me.I rolled my eyes and pretended like I heard nothing. My eyes widened when I saw my daughter Ken, happily hopping in the grocery's entrance. Behind him is Erna carrying a big teddy bear."Lily-""You know what? I changed my mind..." I nervously glanced at his back trying to find some escape. "Just help me, I forgot something at the end. Can you take it? My foot hurts.""Where?" he asked eagerly."Uhm... In the detergent powder section, you can choose any brand as long as it's maroon in color, the dark one right? It's at the end," I flashed a smile. His eyes widened like he's shocked.I simply looked for Kendria again, go

"Great!" Inna clapped in glee, "Come with me, Harry and Vince are here, they miss you!" I didn't do anything when she pulled me out of the bathroom. I treated them like my real friends after all. It's a bit sad that my brother disappeared from their group. Maybe because of me or because of many other things that he and Edmund couldn't agree on. Whatever it is, a few years of friendship is also disappointing. Kendrick doesn't talk about that anymore and we are very careful with Kendria. If she heard it from her uncle, for sure she'll go nuts and I don't want that. The jaws of the two men we met at the table dropped. Harry immediately asked if he was dreaming while Vince stared at me like a weirdo. I found out that Gem was also here earlier but went home with her twins and Vince because the children were sleepy. "Calm down, guys, it's just me," I said jokingly and removed a few strands of my hair that had escaped from the updo bun. "Well... it's Lily!" Vince finally exclaimed. I

I did endless shopping before leaving Kendria with Erna. My daughter is not used to sleeping alone so I asked Erna to sit next to him first or maybe watch over him until he falls asleep. I said goodbye to Kendi but I know her tantrums are different when she wakes up and can't catch me. I still don't know what time I will go home exactly because the party starts almost at midnight, at nine o'clock. Actually, I'm late because it's nine thirty, but Kendrick said the only important thing is that I show up there, I don't need to be late. "I'll take care of it Ma'am," said Erna. I glanced at Kendria who was sleeping peacefully in her bed and then patted Erna to say goodbye. "Just lock the door when I go out, okay? I have a duplicate key so I'll take care of it when I get home later. Ken's milk is on the bed side table and if there's a problem, call me-" "Ma'am calm down, you'll only be gone for a few hours. It probably won't take you a decade at the party," Erna cut me off. I sighed a

Don’t let Kendria go out or I’ll kill you.”As soon as the two entered the house, I left. Our house is only walking distance from the office that Erna was talking about, so I just walked. I also have no choice because I don't have a car.The fat woman near the door greeted me politely, the opposite of what I found inside.Heads turned to me almost at the same time so I went inside with my head held high. There are five people in the room. The woman sitting on the swivel chair, a sophisticated woman and a man next to her. The other two women were standing on the side of the one on the swivel chair."Good afternoon, sorry I'm late because I just came from work..." I said softly and sat to the chair across the couple."No wonder the child is neglected," the sophisticated woman scoffed immediately.I cleared my throat and pretended I heard nothing."Miss Clark
