Alpha Zane pov

Anger surged through me, and I didn’t even know why. Maybe it was because she was lying to me. It shouldn’t make me this furious, but it did. She was playing games, trying to provoke the worst in me.

What had gone wrong? Why had he reacted that way?My mind wandered to the questions he’d asked me earlier. Simple, straightforward questions about my past, my purpose. Questions I should have been prepared to answer. Yet, in that moment, my tongue had betrayed me, leaving me flustered.“Dammit, I messed up,” I muttered, clenching my fists tightly. Oh my God, I messed up again. The thought hit me like a punch, and my frown deepened. Panic bubbled up in my chest as I replayed the scene in my mind. “Clara!” I called out, my voice urgent as I hurried toward her retreating figure. I needed to know—did she see anything? Did she hear our conversation? My heart raced as I quickened my pace, determined to catch up. “Clara!” I called again, breathless, but she didn’t stop. Today, however, I had a different purpose—apologizing to Alpha Zane for the previous incident. I needed to know if he was still angry. “Whatever,” I muttered to myself, glancing at my wristwatch. It was already 7 a.m. I shook off the thoughts of Clara misunderstanding with me and focused on the day ahead. Just as I was about to enter the kitchen, someone called my name.
