Chapter 3: What is the prize for a favour?

My eyes shot open.

"AAAAAAAAHHH!!!"

We all screamed and I tried to jump back, but my hands were frozen in place by Fay's and Anna's. "What the fuck!?" Fay shouted in panic, looking at our intertwined hands. "Who are you?" Elyse asked in a panic tone to the man. "I can't believe it worked!" Anna shouted at the same time.

It was a frenzy for a while. We were rooted at the spot and everybody screamed in panic. "Shut it." The man said and we were so shocked, we all fell silent in an instant.

"I felt some human females make contact with my world. I just HAD to see for myself who would be so foolish to attempt such a thing." He said in a deep voice. He was tall, really tall. He looked like an ordinary human. And by ordinary human I mean human looking- but more like a god. Black hair that complemented his perfect sculpted face. Not a blemish in sight. He wore a black suit but it was tight enough that I could see his muscles through the fabric. I saw a golden chain underneath his suit. Is this what demons looked like? I wasn't even expecting for anything to happen, but I imagined demons as monsters with multiple heads and deformed limbs. Not a model.

"So, little humans. Tell me why you decided to summon a demon. What is the favour you're asking for?" He continued. A smirk sat on his face and a twinkle appeared in his eyes. I stayed very silent and looked at Anna from the corner of my eyes, begging her to stay silent. "We don't want anything." Fay responded. "Nothing? You want nothing? That is something I do not believe. Humans always crave something." He answered while looking at Fay. She shrunk back a bit by his intimidating gaze and I chose to look down at my feet. With a snap of his fingers, our hands were free to move again and we snatched our oily hands back, rubbing the soreness out of them.

"I can make your dreams come true. Tell me what you desire." He said in an entrancing voice. I could see from the corner of my eyes that Anna looked at him with desire. "I want to graduate this year. With good grades." She said and I widened my eyes at her, not believing she actually responded to his request. Her eagerness was clear as day. 

"Done." Another snap of his fingers.

"I want a boyfriend." Elyse responded with a soft sigh and I closed my eyes in defeat.

"Done." Another snap of his fingers. His smirk got wider.

"I want a new car!" Elyse said once more and I looked at her with shock. What the fuck.

"Done." The sound of his snapping fingers sounded again.

Anna opened her mouth yet again. "I want-" "No. We don't want more favours." Fay intercepted the demon and I looked at her with more shock. Finally a smart brain.

His head snapped in her direction, and then onto me, where his stare stayed. I stared back in fear. For a few moments, we looked at each other. "What is your name?" He asked me whilst tilting his head. I shook my head. "Go away. We don't want any more favou-" Fay started in a shout but the man sealed her lips shut with a flick of his hand. Fay looked around in panic and tried to pry her lips open with her fingers, unsuccessfully so. I still stared at him with fear, not answering him. "I asked you a question, little dove." He said in a louder tone, getting impatient.

The rest of the girls were released from their spot and shrank back but I was rooted on the spot. "My name is Gabrielle." I said with a surprisingly steady voice. He looked at me like I was some sort of prey, which I kind of was, I realised. "Gabrielle." He tested my name and he sounded surprisingly soft. He held out his hand to me, his fingers outstretched. "Come with me." He said as an order. I stared at his hand. Goosebumps tingled my skin.

"Uh.. No?" I said in response and his expression changed into an incredulous one.

"That wasn't a question, human." He responded and he took a step towards me, closing some of the distance that I desperately wanted to keep. "You wanted to summon a demon for favours. I gave you favours. Now, I desire payment. I choose you as form of payment. You're my prize."

His hand came closer to me, the same height as my shoulder. "Who are you?" I asked him, unable to take my eyes off him. Curiosity took over my fear. I was transfixed, for some weird reason. "My name is King Asmodeus, little dove, but you can call me Adrian."

"Take my hand." He ordered me. I heard the girls behind me struggle but I couldn't look at them, I was transfixed on this man in front of me. "Why? I am not a piece of gold." I responded to him. In my head, I asked myself why I was even talking to him. I should run away.

"You ask too many questions. Take my hand." He ordered again but I shook my head. I saw anger on his features and before I knew it, he launched himself forward and tried to grab my wrist. His fingers brushed my skin and I let out a loud gasp from the contact. Warmth made its way from my wrist into the rest of my body and I felt a strong sense of lust awakening my body. I barely held in a moan.

"No!" Fay shouted next to me suddenly and I was pulled back by my shoulders, before he could take hold of me. Elyse blew one of the candles out and the man disappeared within a second. I fell back against Fay whilst a loud roar was heard from the demon, which was cut off a second later.

We were silent for a whole ten seconds before we all exploded in shouts.

"What the fuck just happened!?" - Elyse

"Oh my god we actually summoned him!" - Anna

"Who was that!?" - Fay

"What did we just do!?" - Elyse

"Did you see him?" - Anna

"Saw him?! Did you feel energy coming off him?" - Fay

"I'm scared." - Elyse

"Why did you talk to him!?" I shouted louder than the rest, directing my question at Anna.

Anna looked at me with pity. "I'm sorry, Elle. I... I.. I didn't-" "You didn't what? You didn't know he would want payment for the favour you asked him for?" I shouted at her. "Elle, he's gone anyway. Relax. It's very probable he just tricked us and he actually didn't do anything. He just snapped his fingers." Elyse said in a calm voice, grabbing my arm to pull me in for a hug. "She's probably right. I mean, what influence does he have on Anna's grades?" Fay added in. I nodded and let Elyse hug me.

"Who the fuck summons a demon anyway and then asks for better grades? You could've asked for a bag of diamonds, or happiness!" I shouted with almost a laugh on my face. I shook my head at the whole situation. I can't believe what just happened. "Hey! I can't think on the spot! Maybe next time I will ask for a Ferrari." Anna said with her arms in the air. 

I was still shocked. I couldn't believe it. Unease filled me. Silence fell.

"Guys. What just happened? Did we seriously just.. Do that?" I whispered with fear in my voice. I couldn't shake his words off me. 'You're my prize.' A shudder ran through me. Imagine if I took his hand, what would have happened?

 

I felt like someone was watching me….
