Kimberly POV

The crusty, dry bread lay on the floor in front of me, its stale scent wafting up and twisting my empty stomach. My body ached, but my pride burned hotter. There was no way I’d stoop so low to eating something this disgusting.

Marcus strolled in, his sharp eyes zeroing in on the untouched bread. “Why aren’t you eating, baby girl?” His voice was calm, but there was venom beneath it.

I didn’t answer.

He tilted his head, smirking. “What’s wrong? Has Leonardo been feeding you something better than what your father ever could?”

My fists clenched, but I kept my face blank, letting my thoughts drift. Once upon a time, To be honest, this bread would have been a nice meal for me and my dad. But since I got in with Leonardo I only ate rich foods. Butter bread. Now, the memory of enjoying something so plain felt foreign

I turned my head away, refusing to meet Marcus’s gaze.

His footsteps closed the distance between us. “You know,” he began, his voice softer, “you’re beau

The sound of gunfire echoed endlessly, a grim reminder that this nightmare was far from over. I tried contacting Enzo and Mario, but neither line was connecting. Salvatore’s men were dwindling in numbers, but reinforcements seemed to appear from nowhere, emerging like shadows. “Your last wish, Salvatore?” I asked, my voice sharp as I cornered him. “To hell with you,” he spat, fear and anger flickering in his eyes like a dying flame. “Are you sure that’s how you want to end it?” I tilted my head, cocking my gun. “After all, what have you done with your miserable life?” He moved suddenly, his hand darting toward his pocket. My finger tightened on the trigger, and I fired before he could pull anything out. But either I was too slow, or the force of the bullet knocked something loose. A small metallic ball rolled from his hand and clattered to the floor. My instincts screamed, but it was too late—a deafening explosion ripped through the air, and a thick, choking cloud envel

The night stretched endlessly as we arrived at the port, only to be stopped by cops at the gate.“Hold it right there. You can’t go in,” a voice barked.I rattled the gate, testing if it was unlocked, but it held firm. A frustrated sigh escaped my lips as I stepped back and watched Enzo negotiate with the security officer. The man’s sceptical gaze shifted to me, his eyes narrowing as he took in my dishevelled appearance. I know I look no different from a street hoodlum. Part of my shirt torn, the dirty jacket I had grabbed earlier hung on my shoulder.“How do I know you’re a Fiore?” the cop asked, his tone laced with suspicion.Mario intervened, flashing our ID. “This is enough proof.” I stayed silent, too focused on the task ahead to entertain conversation. The clock was ticking, and every wasted second gnawed at my patience. After a moment of scrutiny, the cop relented. “Okay,” he muttered, unlocking the gate and letting us through.“Don’t cause trouble.” Trouble was the least o

Kimberly POV The sterile white walls of the hospital room are a stark contrast to the suffocating darkness I’d been trapped in just hours ago. My body was heavy, weighed down by exhaustion and lingering pain. I flinched as the needle pressed into my arm shifted slightly, the sharp sting reminding me that I was alive. I glanced around, my gaze falling on the empty chair by the bed. The room was silent except for the faint beeping of the monitors. Just as I began to wonder how I got here, the door creaked open. I quickly shut my eyes, feigning sleep, though the effort made my head throb. "In a few hours, she'll regain full consciousness," a woman’s voice, calm but slightly uncertain spoke. A nurse, I assumed. "You’ve been saying that for 46 hours," came the low, gravelly reply. I’d recognize that voice anywhere. Leonardo. His tone was quieter than usual, almost as if he was afraid of disturbing me, but it carried an unmistakable weight of frustration. "The anaesthetic shou

Kimberly POV “Kimberly, are you okay?” Leonardo’s voice cut through, his tone sharp with urgency. “Oh my goodness, she’s having a seizure!” someone else shouted, panic rising in their voice. I felt hands on my body, several of them, pinning me down to stop my convulsions. My muscles screamed in protest, but I couldn’t control them. Through the chaos, my gaze locked onto Leonardo’s deep blue eyes. He wasn’t in front of me anymore, but his eyes lingered in my mind like a trance. “Can she stop staring in one direction?” a voice asked, tinged with confusion. “We need to get her stabilised first,” another replied firmly. Then I felt a shock on my chest, cold and jarring, ripping through my chest like lightningOne! Two! My body arched, and I gasped, air finally rushing back into my lungs. My eyes shifted, breaking free from the fixation. The room spun around me, and I felt the faintest hint of calm before exhaustion overtook me. In no time, I drifted into sleep. Even in m

Kimberly POV Avoiding Leonardo throughout the rest of the week was easier than I thought it would be. A part of me wondered if I secretly wanted him to come find me, to talk things through. But if he couldn’t fight for me, then what was the point?I threw myself into my hospital sessions and all I can say is that it's really tiring. Each day felt like my energy was being drained. Emily had been visiting often, always reaching out and looking out for me. I felt guilty for not reciprocating her warmth, but healing, as I had learned, wasn’t just physical.Leonardo, on the other hand, was almost a ghost. He was always at work or out on business, and some nights, he didn’t come home at all. I told myself it didn’t matter. It had to stop mattering.“How are you feeling now, Kimberly?” Mario’s voice pulled me from my thoughts.I turned to see him standing by the doorway, his familiar smile easing some of the tension in my chest. “I’m fine, Mario. How’s Enzo? I hope he’s getting better.”Be

Kimberly POV The makeup artist kept layering foundation on my face, her strokes firm and deliberate. I wondered how many more layers it would take before I couldn't recognize myself completely.“This is enough,” I finally said, my voice laced with irritation.“The bruises need to be completely covered, maam," she replied without hesitation. I sighed and gave in. The bruises from Marcus and Treo were not something I wanted to carry visibly into the ceremony, but I could already imagine myself looking like a witch under all that makeup. When Leonardo's hand tightened around my waist as we stepped onto the red carpet, I immediately stiffened. The pressure from his grip reminded me that escape wasn't an option, not tonight. The camera flashes were blinding and incestent, the fake smiles on my face was beginning to exhaust me. We posed for several business photos, greeted a few important faces, and eventually made our way inside. The interior was chilling. The lights were dim, cas

Kimberly POV We barely spoke after the ceremony. The silence between us was suffocating, yet it suited me just fine. I wasn’t happy about the whole Mafia thing and was only waiting for Leonardo to slip up, give me an opening to unleash all the venom I’d bottled up.Sitting on my bed, I glanced at the to-do list I’d written that morning. It was really ironic, At the top of the list was calling Ian daily. Next was avoiding Emily. I’d pulled out of her persistent attempts to make us bond, but she just kept coming back.Further down, I’d added something for myself, reading romance novels. I’d intentionally chosen a mafia romance, thinking I might find some peace in it, Instead, it just irritated me. The characters were so infuriatingly smitten with each other, their lives somehow perfect despite the chaos. Unlike me, the female lead wasn’t kidnapped, dragged into a world she didn’t belong to.I slammed the book shut and tossed it onto the bed. My irritation bubbled over, making me restle

Kimberly POV I stared at my to-do list, where self-defense training stood out boldly under number two, right after Call Lan. My chest tightened at the sight of it, as if seeing it there again made the challenge feel even more tasking.I slipped into my camisole and fitted leggings, plugged in my headphones, and jogged to the training room. The rhythm of my steps matched the music in my ears, steadying my nerves. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect today, but anything was better than sitting around and feeling useless. Just like Monica said, I wasn’t the "Donna by Action." Since the bloody ritual, I hadn’t been given a single task. When I pushed open the gym doors, I expected to see Enzo, my usual trainer. Instead, piercing blue eyes locked on mine, freezing me mid-step. Leonardo stood by the weights, shirtless, his skin glistening with sweat. He lowered the dumbbells with ease, the movement fluid and controlled, like everything he did.“I... uh... thought Enzo would be here,” I st

Kimberly POV “Leave now, Monica!” Leonardo's sharp voice cut through the air, his hand catching Monica's wrist just as she lunged toward me.“Leo, she…” Monica tried to argue, her voice trembling with anger.“Get out!” he barked again, his tone cold and commanding. His glare made it clear there would be no room for negotiation.Monica’s eyes darted between us, fury and humiliation painting her face as she stormed out of the room, her heels clicking sharply against the tiled floor, leaving us alone in the convenience.Leonardo’s gaze shifted to me. For a moment, he looked uncertain, his lips parting as though searching for the right words. But I beat him to it.“What now, Leo?” I asked, crossing my arms and meeting his stare. The lingering tension made my voice sharper than I intended. He hesitated, then stepped closer. “Kimberly... I searched for you. I tried to find you. But…” His voice trailed off as he reached out, his fingers brushing my cheek. The warmth of his touch sent an unw

Leonardo’s POV"The winner has been decided," the announcer’s voice thundered through the hall, pulling me from my restless thoughts. My fingers tapped rhythmically against the armrest, a futile attempt to mask my growing irritation."Many of us know the rankings of the top two companies have remained unchanged for years," the announcer continued, pausing theatrically. "But will that remain the case this year?""For God’s sake, can he just say it and get this over with?" Monica hissed beside me, her tone sharp enough to draw a few curious glances.I clenched my jaw. The announcer’s unnecessary theatrics were grating, but my focus remained razor-sharp. I needed the Fiore Company to maintain its dominance. Anything less than first place was unacceptable."The fifth world-largest company goes to Stiten & Co.," he announced finally.Scattered applause followed as the award was presented. The announcer droned on, working his way through the ranks. My patience wore thinner with each passing

Kimberly's POV“Don’t hire a copywriter this time,” I said plainly, folding my arms as I watched Alex face turn ashen.“What? We might lose ranking!” he exclaimed, alarmed.“Do you trust me?” I asked, meeting his gaze.“What do you mean?” he asked, his voice laced with doubt.“I’d like to handle the contract myself. All I want is your approval. Leave the rest to me,” I said, standing firm.“But you’re new... and…” Alex hesitated, his doubt hanging in the air.“Do you trust me?” I repeated, cutting him off. After a long pause, he sighed. “Okay. I’ll let you show yourself to the world.”(Present Day)The moment I stepped out of the car, the sharp clicks of cameras and a sea of reporters surrounded me. Microphones were shoved in my direction, and questions were hurled like bullets.“Who are you, and what company do you represent?” one bold mouthed reporter asked, stepping in front of the crowd.I stopped, met her gaze, and answered coolly. “I am Kimberly. Kimberly POV "My darling granddaughter, who would believe you're alive”? An energetic old woman, probably in her 80's stepped from the door, before moving closer and pulling me in a suffocating warm hug.She looks small, but wrapped in her arms, I felt smaller."I'm your father's mother dear. YourGrandma!" she added, laughing The moment she saw the look of confusion on my face after releasing me from her hug."Grandma." I repeated with a warm smile."Let's take a walk around the company dearie." Alex said, dismissing the staffs who had gathered around us."Sure.""The Gioselle Company is the largestcompany in the United Kingdom. The second after the Flores in the whole world." Alex explained."We have multiple partners and shareholders, which of course I'm the Highest shareholder" He added proudly.I gave him a warm smile.I couldn't stay angry for a long time. Kimberly POV "That's ridiculous," I scoffed, my voice breaking through the tension in the room."I'm keeping the baby. And there's nothing you can do about it," I said, glaring at Alex. My words hung in the air like a challenge."If the enemies find out, Kimberly, you'll be in danger," Alex warned, his voice, deep with concern.I clenched my fists. "That's my decision to make, not yours.""Kimberly, dear," Nancy interjected, her tone gentler but no less pointed. "That baby inside you will cause more harm than good."I turned sharply toward her, disbelief coursing through me. "How… how can you be so heartless?" My voice wavered, but I refused to let the tears fall."I'm carrying a baby, my very first child, and you're telling me to get rid of it?”"Kimberly…""Don't!" I cut her off, my voice sharper than I intended. "You know what?" I said, glancing between them."You've found me, and we've reunited. Thank goodness for that. Kimberly POV “Liars!” I screamed, glaring at the couple before me. My voice echoed in the grand living room, but neither of them flinched.“How do you expect me to believe you’re my real parents just because of what you said?” I replied them in anger, but deep down, I felt a storm of confusion and disbelief.Nancy’s lips parted as if to speak, but I cut her off. “I want proof. Not some silly, made-up story.”A tense silence fell over us, the weight of my accusation hanging in the air. I didn’t know if it was my emotions running wild or something deeper, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this, more than their words, more than their sudden appearance in my life.Without a word, Nancy got up and left the room. I didn’t bother watching her leave; instead, I let my eyes wander around the lavish space. Every corner of the house screamed wealth, from the ruby chandeliers to the antique furniture that looked untouched by time. “Here,” Nancy’s voice startled me. I hadn’

“No! Don’t touch me!” I snapped, jerking away from the strangers who claimed to be my parents. My chest heaved, and my voice cracked, but I held my ground.“Kimberly, please…” the woman said, her voice trembling as tears welled in her eyes. Her hands stretched toward me, trembling slightly, as if unsure I wouldn’t flinch away again.“You… you even know my name?” I hissed, narrowing my eyes. “How is that possible?”The man, tall and broad with streaks of gray in his hair, stepped forward. “Because we're the ones who gave you that name.” he said, his voice heavy with emotion. I froze. The weight of his words hit me like a freight train. My knees threatened to give way, but I squared my shoulders, refusing to let my guard down. “If that’s true, if you’re really my parents, then how did you lose me? How could you leave me for twenty-four years?” My voice rose with each word, my fury bubbling over. “Why now? Why come back now?”The woman, named Nancy, as the man called earlier, opened her

My anger, raw and untamed, burned hotter with every tick of the clock hanging on the wall. Seven days. Seven long days since Kimberly escaped. Seven days of searching without a single trace. Was I more furious that she dared to run or worried that she had nowhere to go? My jaw tightened as I shoved the thought aside.I stormed out of the study, my footsteps echoing through the hallway like thunder."Enzo!" I barked. He appeared from around the corner, bowing slightly. "Yes, Boss. I was just about to report to you.""What did you find?" I demanded, my voice sharp enough to slice through steel.Enzo shifted uncomfortably. "We're still searching, Boss. My team just returned from her father's house. There’s no sign of her there."In one swift motion, I grabbed him by the collar and pulled him close. Kimberly's POV“Thirty minutes are over, ma’am,” Enzo called, peeping through the door.I hastily wiped my tears, hoping he hadn’t heard what I whispered moments ago.Taking a deep breath, I rose to my feet, taking a last glance at Emily.“Goodbye, Emily,” I murmured under my breath before turning to leave.Enzo trailed behind me as we walked to the car. The weight of his presence made my skin crawl, but I kept my composure until we reached the parking lot.I need to use the bathroom. I’m pressed,” I said abruptly, not waiting for his response as I spun around and walked briskly back into the hospital. From the corner of my eye, I saw him follow. I switched lanes, heading away from the quiet VIP section he had brought me through earlier. The bustling regular hallway, filled with patients, visitors, and nurses, provided the perfect cover.“Madam, you’re moving the wrong…”I didn’t let him finish. I ran.“Madam!” Enzo called, his voice stern and alarmed.I didn’t look back. My heart rac
