First day of school after holidays and I was sweating my way to the dining table for breakfast. Two weeks had passed and today was the day she threatened to expose us. I was conflicted between wanting to tell Ryan and hiding the truth completely.

“Noah, you alright, son?” I heard dad’s voice which made me snap my head at him.

“Y-yeah… yeah, I am.” I absentmindedly nodded my head, stuttering because words were stuck in my throat.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and then my mother’s soothing voice followed. “Cupcake, you don’t look like you’re fine. Is something bothering you?”

I contemplated if I should tell her or not but then decided against it because even my mind was in a battle. One part was saying that she was bluffing and the other was saying… well it wasn’t saying anything at all. It was just screaming in panic.

“No. Nothing’s bothering me.” I said before grabbing the glass of juice and gulping it down.

I stood up, flung the bag ov

I reached home, discarded my bag on the living room couch and went straight for the kitchen. I was starving and I felt like if I didn't eat in the next few minutes, I would faint. All the tension in the school didn’t let me eat even during the lunch break but now the day was over and I was relieved of all the tension. The part of the brain that said she was bluffing was right. Mum had made lasagna for me and had stored it in the fridge. My mouth watered as I warmed it and then finally settled down to eat it but as I was gonna take my first bite, my phone buzzed as it was on vibration mode. I picked it up from the table, setting down the fork. I turned on the screen and there it was another text message from Ivy. I groaned. Not now! Still, I tapped it open and read what she had to say. ‘Today was your lucky day. But don’t worry, your doom is not far away’ I huffed and turned the phone off. I really had enough. Her threats weren’

The next morning I woke up, there was a weird calmness in the atmosphere. A silence and peace. I felt oddly very relaxed despite of me being drained out of every last drop of energy in me last night. There was this satisfaction inside me. It was very odd. I had never felt something like that. After sending a quick ‘good morning’ text to Ryan, I scurried off to bathroom to do my morning routine before getting ready for school. Jessica said she would pick me up today for school and after having breakfast, I waited for her to arrive. I was so happy that mum and I were on good terms because I missed her kisses and hugs and her genuine broad smile. It had been a long time, I had that. As I heard the horn of the car, I jumped up, kissed mom, hugged dad and sprinted out of the door. I approached her with a warm smile on my face. I didn’t know what was going on but everything seemed so peaceful to me. We stepped foot in the school building and got busy with c

“Call Mr Carter’s parents and tell them to come to school immediately.” Mr Dunkin ordered someone on the phone. I heard him dial another number as now my sobs were quietened. I was still looking at my shaking hands on my lap, sniffling. “Come to my office, Mr Brown.” My ears perked up and I finally looked up at Mr Dunkin who was putting down the receiver. He met my eyes but his eyes didn’t hold any kind of expression but then his eyes softened. “Noah, don’t worry. No harm will come your way. You just have to speak up for yourself. I assure you Ryan would not get out of this easily.” He said looking at me. I instantly broke the eye contact and turned my eyes back to my lap. I heard the door open behind me and I shifted in my position, knowing it was Ryan. “Come sit, Mr Brown.” Mr Dunkin said. I was waiting for Ryan to sit next to me but it didn’t happen. He sat on the couch at the corner of the room. “I didn’t expect this from a gentlem

We made our way back to the office. I didn’t want to agree with what Dad suggested but it was the only way that I could save Ryan by not making mother angry. That too if it worked. “Sit down, please.” Mr Dunkin said as we sat back to our previous positions. Ryan was still sitting on the couch on the far end, all alone. I wanted to go to him and hug him tightly and assure him that everything would be alright. That I’ll make it alright but I couldn’t. I knew he would be scared to death and he would be dreading going to jail and risking everything. His name, fame, money, business and respect. Today, the respect I had for him had increased. Today, I fell in love with him deeper than ever. He did all this, put everything in jeopardy just to save me. He stayed true to his promise. “Mr Dunkin, we appreciate you taking step for our son. We appreciate that you want to back him up and provide justice but Noah doesn’t want to deal with cops. He says he doesn’t w

As we made our way to the living room in our house, mum turned around to face me and she had furious expressions on her face. She took a deep breath and I knew she was preparing herself to yell at me. Before she could, I held up my hand. “Save it, mum. I know what you’re going to say and trust me that’s the last thing I need to hear right now.” I said, sighing. I threw my bag on the couch and plopped on it. “You have to hear it now. I told you not to get involve into something like this. I told you to get out of this situation before it becomes difficult but you never listen to me. Noah, I’m your mother I would never say anything that goes against you or your welfare. Look what have you gotten yourself into?” She sounded furious yet her voice was calm. Anger bubbled up in me and I stood up. “I get it, mum. Congratulation that you were right all along. Congratulations that what you predicted became true but guess what?! I for once tried to be optimist but it b

“Noah, this is insane!” Ryan freaked out, handing my phone back to me. Well, tell me something I don’t already know. I shook my head and focused on the situation. He looked pretty stressed out over the text messages. And why wouldn’t he be? After all, Ivy did what I thought she wouldn’t do. What the fuck was I thinking? “Why didn’t you tell me? We could’ve solved the situation in much better way. Now look what we’ve gotten ourselves into.” He stood up and started pacing around his living room. “I’m sorry.” That’s the only thing I could mumble because that’s the only thing left to say. There was no logical excuse behind why I did what I did except the fear of losing Ryan. “We have to find out a solution now. It’s not the end.” He groaned pulling his hair from the sides of his head. “Hey… calm down.” I stood up and pulled his hands out of his hair. “She won’t stop here, Noah. You don’t understand.” He sounded so terrifie

“Give me Ivy’s number.” He spoke, breaking the silence. It took me a second to understand what he asked for. “Uh… okay.” I grabbed my phone, turned it on, went to the contacts and showed him the number. “I’d called Lyla when I was in my bedroom. She said she’d grab some things and be here. I need to call Ivy so that this can be discussed and solved.” He said as he dialed Ivy's number on his phone. I just gave a nod of head. He called her and handed me back my phone. I just stared at his face as he was waiting for her to pick up the call. I could see he was nervous. I had no idea after how long he was talking to her but one thing that my heart kept asking me again and again was, “Are there any sparks left?” “Hello… It’s me. Ryan.” I heard his raspy voice speak which pulled me out of my thoughts. “You know exactly why I called you, Ivy. I need to resolve whatever the mess you’ve created.” He spoke and his voice was so stern that it washed away a

For quite a time there was just silence in the room. The only sound that was filling the room was Ivy’s sniffles and Ryan’s urgent breaths. No one dared to speak a word after what I just said. I sneaked a glance at Lyla and she paused a smile to me with a thumbs up. I smiled back at her and then looked down where Ryan’s hands were resting. I grabbed his hand and entwined our fingers. “I can do one thing for you.” The silence was broken by Ivy. “I can delete all the pictures but in return you have to burn all the proofs you have against me.” She made a deal but Ryan wasn’t going to let her have that. I knew it before he opened his mouth to speak. “Oh no no no… you don’t get to play the good guy now. You’ve already did what you wanted to do. I’ve called you here to warn you to no do anything further because it can get you in trouble. You can have all the pictures you want but I’m not letting you have anything I have against you. Two years… Funny how things take a full 180 degrees turn in such a short time. If you had asked me two years ago how my life would be going two years from now. The only thing I could tell you was that I’d be graduating from a high school and getting ready for college which was of course, happening. Today I was graduating from high school but that’s not the only highlight of these two years. Before I stepped into the world, my life was pretty boring. I could sum up that life in one sentence but these last two years have been wild. So many thing that I never imagined would happen to me happened. I fell in love. Someone fell in love with me. I made friends. I met people. I talked to people. Most importantly, I got my lost sense back. All of that happened in two years. For seventeen years my life was pretty stuck. The only people I had talked to outside my family were the pizza delivery guy and the cashier lady at the supermarket where mummy did groceries. The only frien

“Let’s go to my office.” He spoke, grabbing my hand. I nodded. He turned to the girl who was standing next to him and told her that he would be busy so no one should disturb him before leading us to the elevator to go to his office. I learned that his office was on the 40th floor of the tower and it was the only room that we couldn’t look into from outside and it also has a wooden door. He closed the door of his office behind us and guided me to the large desk placed at the end of the room. It was a huge ass room decorated with the things I could never name. It didn’t have anything that we could say was useful to him to advance in his tech. Just a very vast decorated room with the large glass desk at the end of the room with the huge glass panes behind from where the entire city could be seen. “I’m surprised that it still surprises me.” I spoke in a whisper. “What?” he asked, leaning against the desk and folding his arms. “I

Standing before what looked like 60 to 70 floored building made me shiver. It then when it actually sunk in that I was dating a millionaire. That he wasn’t some guy who owned few thousand dollars. He wasn’t just a teacher. He was a fucking millionaire and he owned this 70 story building. The funny thing was, it wasn’t the only large building he owned. It was so crazy that my head started spinning at all this. I take a look at the building one more time. From bottom to the top and then back to bottom. After it really sunk in, I let out a poof of breath before entering through the glass doors. The reception was across the wide lobby and pair of elevators were present at the each side of the lobby. The pair of escalators were present at each side of the reception desk. Large LED screens were hanging right above the desk showing some company related shit. The monogram of the company was hanging in the middle of the lobby as a sweet voice of lady repeatedly said, “Welcome

“I think I’ve found the one.” My heart dropped to the pit of stomach as my throat went dry. I was becoming a hot and red mess as I read that line over and over again. He really said that? I read the rest of the interview as Jessica was now turning to the school and was going in the parking area to park the car. Just when she pulled over, I was done reading the magazine. I closed it and looked up at Jessica who was already looking at me with a smile. I couldn’t hold my smile and launched myself on her, catching her in a hug. “I’m so fucking in love with him.” I sighed dreamingly, tightening the arms around her. “As you should be. You guys are made for each other.” I broke the hug and sat back on the seat, looking at Ryan’s cover on the magazine with heart eyes. I wish he was here right now. I would’ve hugged him so tightly that my scent wouldn’t have left his body for next two weeks. “Now let’s go inside.” She turned around to

Ryan’s interview got published in yesterday’s Sunday magazine and I had literally turned off my phone since then. I totally forgot that it was going to publish yesterday and when I received a call from Mateo saying he read the interview, I was totally blank as to what he was speaking. Few seconds later I understood and right after hanging up the call with Mateo, I switched off my phone. I hadn’t read the interview yet, I still had to go and buy that magazine which was making me making me more nervous. What if I bump into someone from the school in there? Though it wasn’t the question now as today I had to go to the school. I called Jessica to pick me up from the house because I wanted to read what Ryan said about me before going to school. I wanted to be prepared in case I had to show give someone piece of my mind. “You alright, baby bro?” I snapped my head at Eva who just entered the living room in her PJs as I was waiting for Jessica to arrive. She

I was sitting in my room waiting for my family to be done with their preparations as we all were going to Ryan’s to have that one big family dinner that Ryan suggested. First we thought of having the dinner at some restaurant but then Ryan still hadn’t given that interview so we decided to keep it behind the doors. The interview was due the tomorrow. We could’ve waited another day but the dates weren’t aligning. Eva and Ryan’s sister were busy so we had to fix today’s date. “Baby bro!” Eva barged into my room, yelling and interrupted my hair styling. “What?!” “Give me that watch of yours that mum gifted you this Christmas.” She demanded and stated searching through my things. “What the fuck, Eva?! Stop!” I stopped her from rummaging through my property. “Where’s your watch?” She questioned. “Why do you want it?” I questioned, staring dead at her. “It goes with my dress. Look.” She did a little twirl, making me s

Two weeks had gone by since I told the truth to the principal. Everything was going back to normal. Teachers had stopped giving me lectures. Though their strange looks always searched for me in the class and now whenever they stared at me, they had a distinctive look in them. Mr Dunkin met Ryan and wasn’t very happy about what had happened but as I thought, he didn’t take any legal action because he was relieved that it wasn’t something like what Ryan had told him earlier. Harassment case from a school would have destroyed school’s reputation way worse than a simple love affair between a teacher and student. Everything was going just fine. Mateo had called me once Jessica told him what had happened at the school. He was worried but I assured him that everything was settled. He was happy that Ryan had resigned and now I could have somewhat normal version of our relationship. I also told him that Ryan wanted my family to meet his family. Just so they could get

"I was thinking of something." He spoke as if he was leading into some bigger conversation. "What?" "I know in the interview I'm going to be asked about my personal life. I'm no longer a teacher so I was thinking of revealing our relationship?" He looked down at me, arching his eyebrow. "Okay?" I shrugged but I wasn't sure what he meant by that. "I wouldn't be very specific. I would just mention that I have someone in my life and maybe take your name, if you're comfortable with that?" "I have no problem with it. But don't you think if people find out I was your student they would say things." I inquired. "Who cares now, baby? I'm not your teacher. Plus the interview is in a month so, if I give this statement. I won't be sharing the timeline of our relationship. Even if they find out, I'll be getting fined which I can afford. Who fucking cares after what names they've been calling me at the school. I just want to tell the world that I l

As soon as I left his office, my first reaction was to let out a loud and deep breath and say “OH MY FUCKING GOD!” because I couldn’t believe it happened. It was out. Who cared what would’ve happened next. It was out there. Our relationship was out there and the joy it gave me. I knew Mr Dunkin. I knew he wouldn’t rusticate me or suspend me. I knew he wouldn’t even say anything to Ryan as well because he looked so relieved that none of his school teacher went as low as to harass a kid for his own sexual needs or whatnot. If we had been upfront about the whole thing from the start then there’s a good chance we could’ve gotten the worse reaction and the law would get involved but now I was pretty sure nothing like that would happen because he looked pretty pleased with the true story because it wasn’t disturbing and disgusting. Plus now Ryan was fired and the fact that Ryan was resigning was enough because that meant he didn’t want to continue the illegal relat
